Awesome! I watched another video like this and I was so confused about having two layers of transfer. I understand now how it’s done. Thank you for explaining this.
Omg!!! I know this is an older video but this just changed the game for me!!! I’ve seen “others” and their layering techniques are way too complicated!!!! Subscribing!!
I'm offering this type of layered file in my shop and when they download it, I'm including a link to this video because it's literally the best explanation I've seen. :)
Your video is the most user friendly video of found on this issue because I use more than one type of vinyl and this is what I've been looking for thanks.
These will make Awesome "Bags" for my business. I priced everything out and in the long run it is going to save me so much money..Thank You So Much for sharing this with us.. I love your channel, your hats are Amazing. I'm going to try the hat with the "S" hook now.. Everyone I know loves the hats and I tell them that I make them but it is someone else's pattern.. They love your hats
WOW! You are a great tutor! I am just beginning and feel that I could tackle any multi-color design heat transfer vinyl! Thank You!!! I have subscribed to gain knowledge of any other videos you have recorded. Thank You again!
Thanks for the simple and thorough tutorial. I want to get a cameo and have been watching a lot of videos and this one is the best for multilayer vinyl.
That was amazing and very easy to follow. Thanks for listing your products used. When I first started, the thinner vinyls weren't available, and I disliked the bulky plasticy feel of the finished product. Do you have a list of your favorite products you use on specific projects?
How did you get it to ungroup like that in the first place, as in have the whole outline and then each color in its designated spot with color.. is it only with purchased cameo svg or can use in traced photos as well? Please help. Thank you!
Hi there! I’m trying to use this method to cut a bitmoji on oracal vinyl. However, it doesn’t give me the option to cut my color under the “Fill” option... any idea what I could be doing wrong?
Yes, they shrink, sadly. That's why she doesn't give it the full amount of time with the iron when applying the first layers. The longer you apply heat, the more shrinkage.
Hi Morgan! I cut by color the same way, but my technique for layering adhesive vinyl is a bit different. I need to make a video for this, but here is a written tutorial: persialou.com/how-to-layer-vinyl/
I love the video it is so helpful but I do have a question. Do I still have to trace the image then add colors to each part? I know this maybe a dumb question but I have never done this before.
Not a dumb question! So it will depend on the file you are using. The file I'm using here is an SVG file I designed that already has all of the layers in the file. (You have to have the Designer Edition of the software or higher to open SVG files) If you are creating your own design from a JPG or PNG, then you will have to trace the image to get the cut lines. Then after you have traced, you can add colors to each section. This post on how to use different file types in Silhouette Studio would probably be helpful - persialou.com/how-to-use-any-image-with-your-silhouette-silhouette-file-types-and-how-to-use-them/ (there's also a video tutorial in there.) Hope that helps!
I pulled a picture from Google images. It was let's get lit, with Christmas lights. It would not let me ungroup, or pick colors. I tried to trace it first to see if I could ungroup it but still wouldn't let me. Help
Hello Alexis your video is very helpful but I'm having trouble with my silhoutte when I click SEND / Fill /and then under Action by: the color drop down menu didn't show, please advice. thank you
Hmm... which drop down menu aren't you seeing? When you click Send > Action by Fill, you should see a little chart of the different colors used in your design with columns for material, action, etc. What are you seeing there?
@@ashuntasimpson5032 Having the same issue, I think it might be down to how the original image was created, because the image I am trying to do this on doesn't even ungroup....any other method Alexis Middleton ?
You just leveled me up with this process

This design is absolutely adorable... Would you ever show us how you create your designs? ETA: If this isn't your design, apologies!!

What is the color vinyl called for the backing; the black outline that you used to line up the other colors
Thank you!!!!!!!!!
Would this be the same method for regular vinyl im trying to do this on a tumbler
how do I change the colors, ho do i separate the sections and colors to them? video leaves out alot of info
Did you every figured that out?
I have a Portrait 2 - can the fill in colour be done on it .. thanks in advance

Hi there! I’m trying to use this method to cut a bitmoji on oracal vinyl. However, it doesn’t give me the option to cut my color under the “Fill” option... any idea what I could be doing wrong?
How was the design made? What is the process of designing something with layers like this?
Omg you make it so easy. I haven’t been able to do this. Do you ever have the colors shrink after applying?
Yes, they shrink, sadly. That's why she doesn't give it the full amount of time with the iron when applying the first layers. The longer you apply heat, the more shrinkage.
Does anyone know why the colors wouldn’t show up in the fill section?
Could this be done the same way with regular vinyl on an object? -not heat transfer

This was awesome! Been looking for a video like this! So clear and professional! Where did you find the tote bags?
Why was the black vinyl face up and the rest face down when put in machine im a lil confused?
why does my silhouette studio not have these options???
What if you’re using a heat press?

I'm tried to follow your guide again but there is no chart of color showing after I select (fill)
I have the same problem so can anyone please help😭😂
I am having the same struggle. It is only wanting to grab the outline.
Do i have to have designer edition to cut by color?
Nope! That feature is included with the basic edition of the software. :)
Are you using a cameo 3? I can't find the settings that you're using. The colors don't come up when I click fill.
