In this episode of #LUMEWARS by KeepTheTime, we put two Seiko legends against each other. The Seiko Orange Monster and an SKXA35 Scuba Diver.
Both are Seikos, both are automatics, both are divers, both have impressive lume.
Both timepieces are using Seiko's their own branded LumiBrite (all about LumiBrite here: keepthetime.com/blog/seiko-lu....
So this is not a battle of lume quality, but more of lume design. We do this series of LUME WARS! not only to showcase brightness, longevity and color, but also the DESIGN of the lume. How did the watch company use the lume? Where did they place it? How much real estate does it cover? Does it make the time legible?
The Orange Monster is 43mm and the Scuba Diver is 42mm.

Hi everyone! Sorry about the typo in the video!!! One says Lumibrite and the other says LumiBrite. Interestingly, Seiko uses both on their site (and even Lumi-Brite), so technically we're not wrong, but next time we'll pay more attention to detail!!!

Holy! Nice comparison. I could not stop watching the SKX second hand lume reflecting off of the dial. +1 on the SKX.

Seiko vs seiko always going to be a tough lume battle, but the skx is the winner here, nice and crisp markers. I have a custom skx007j with some different parts fitted you could say it's almost a dagaz. So maybe slightly bias to the skx there.

Now that I have a chance to see the lume shots side by side I think the Orange Monster is over the top with the triangle markers. My vote is the scuba.

Some seiko on seiko action. You really can't beat the monster. It was designed to be ugly and have fantastic lume

Lumibrite VS Lumibrite. Who's going to win ? I put my money on Lumibrite.

    • @KeepTheTime

You won't win... but you won't lose either! Which design do you like better?

    • @themayorboxing8057

I like the SKX design better because it's a bit more understated. However I find the movement of the 7s26 movement a bit overrated. While it might be really though and simply designed, it's a bit dated, not very precise and the lack of hacking is frustrating (even more a factor for a watch lacking precision).
That said, I find the monster's character unique and appealing.
      I have a baby snow monster and a SKX009.

Which one gets more wrist time?

Both have been put aside a bit since I've acquired a Glycine Combat Sub and a C.Ward Trident pro 900. Wearing the SKX right now though! My next goal is the SBDX017 (Marine Master 300) but that might take a while to fund...
I really don't know if I'll be keeping all those entry level watches. I might get rid of a few to make a bit of space in the 10 watch box (that really holds 15...). I think monster VS SKX is a question I'll be asking in the near future...
By the way I love your channel and just noticed the online store. Really nice photography and collection there.

Thank you so much for the comment on our channel and watch shop! It's understandable that the other watches aren't getting as much attention. Hard to compete with Glycine Combat Sub/C. Ward Trident Pro. Let us know when you're ready to trade some of those pieces towards something else. Or, we'll let you know when the next SBDX017 comes in!
