- Metallica covers Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend/Loves Lies Bleeding" and totally kills it. These are my thoughts, just in case any future grandkids want to know how I spend my free time.

Why does "our generation" feel the need to crap on Kirk? It's like talking about the weather at this point. "Oh, did you hear Kirk's wah?" MOVE ON ALREADY TO A DIFFERENT COMPLAINT.
They are over weight couch players they do the same with Lars he gets hate as they both play sold out stadiums. The haters are just jealous angry NPC's.
People are jealous and love to hate on Metallica, it only makes them look like fools though

I too saw the Metallica / Guns tour and can confirm the over 90 min wait between sets. Can also confirm that Metallica blew them off the stage that night. James still sounds great.
James looks like a movie star now.
Kirk is playing the exact same solos that are on the record.

I like what you said about how they cover songs with such care and style. I'm paraphrasing, of course, but I couldn't agree more. They take originals and make them their own. Most competent bands can cover a song note-for-note and do it justice, but to almost remake a song that already stands on its own two feet is rare and a gift. They really do care about the artists they pay homage to, and that's what sets them apart. They actually care about where the song came from.
I think Lars and Kirk played great. No so much spaghetti but very tasty solos perfect for the song.
James looks the happiest on stage rhat I've seen i a long time. Hes having so much fun!
He looks really healthy too. He didn't look good at all during the Hardwired tour.
While I do think Kirk overdoes it a bit with the wah pedal, in this cover it is spot on. I agree about the DT cover; it’s a basic copy and paste of Elton’s original. This sounds like a Metallica song, they absolutely made it their own.

If you wanna hear a band make a cover truly their own, check out The Warning's re-imagined version of Enter Sandman. The studio version they collaberated with Alesia Cara. But you should really see them do it live at Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico.

Funny how the “stock sounding Metallica riff” is straight out of the original.
Right!? I realized that after I made the video. I didn't remember that part from the original and it seemed so Metallica that I didn't even question it.
