The only impossible mission is Mason getting through one episode of Caravan of Garbage without adding "palooza" to the name of the franchise in rotation
Fun fact: one of my college tutors was also a prop-master & he made the chewing gum for this. He described it as a "fucking nightmare" because getting it to stick to glass was almost impossible (pun entirely intended). Great vid, boys and *SPOILERS* you nailed it, James: you confused my inner Frenchman.
@@MarsUtlaga He probably did but I can't remember! He also designed/built the GoldenEye and he showed us the various sketches for that which was pretty cool.
Apart from the second one, I think the Mission: Impossible series is one of those series where every new instalment can be argued to be the best one. My favourite is Fallout but I completely understand if others say Ghost Protocol or Rogue Nation.
my favourite is Rogue Nation! Fallout had a lot of great stuff. But one thing that irked me: Henry Cavill is being talked about as this unstoppable killing machine, but the movie never shows us that, I would've loved a scene where him and Tom Cruise fight each other at full strength and Tom Cruise has to find other ways to defeat him :) also the attraction towards tom cruise from increasingly younger women starts to feel a bit weird XD
The only thing I don't like about the last 3 films is that they all feel too similar to one another, whereas the first three are completely different in style from one another which made them each stand out and added a certain creative flare to them that they've since lost. Like, I remember more from the first Mission: Impossible film than I do from Rogue Nation. I've forgotten most of what happens in Rogue Nation except for the sniping scene and the underwater card/key switch scene or whatever they were doing.
You are so right, and I completely agree on Fallout being my favorite but totally understand if others prefer another film in the series. Rogue Nation got me back into the franchise and Fallout made me fall in love with it due to the incredible real stunts. The fact that Tom Cruise climbs, falls, and climbs up the helicopter rope and then climbs into the helicopter (not attached to anything at that moment), all while its traveling hundreds of feet in the air is truly incredible.
The classic 'dangling by a rope from the ceiling' scene was directly inspired by the climax of the 1955 French film "Rififi", which was for decades often credited by film buffs as "the first heist movie". It's actually just one of the first, but that was always Rififi's reputation (or sort of tagline, as it were) in filmmaker circles.
It's definitely the most unique film of the franchise. The others while often good are mostly just action films where as this one is much more espionage.
this movie had a pretty solid amount of international cast. I wish some of these people could return, especially Emmanuel Beart or Jean Reno as the main villain of the final movie

Great video, guys! I love this movie and it was probably the first movie I ever went to see multiple times. I was only 15, so was saving up that pocket money for months before it came out. I gotta say though, I think the portrayal of the internet here was not so far from reality. Sure, the visual presentation differs from reality precisely because no-one knew what the internet really looked like (and might have been quite confused that it was often a lot of tiny text on a screen). I was fortunate to have internet at home in 1996 and my own experience of using BBS and Usenet to download pictures of Gillian Anderson was not so dissimilar to this.
16:00 it is a hail mary but he posts it to all 160 or whatever usenet groups were in the results, in various languages, etc. It was definitely a long shot but I think the point of the scene was he did a lot of work to cast the widest possible net.
