My favorite feature in the game is the button dedicated to Jack telling you how much ammo he has left. He's so determined to tell you how many magazines he has that he interrupts his own dialogue and rudely talks over other characters. Even in death, he's really excited to tell you he has "FIVE MAGAZINES ON BACKUP."
NOTHING LEFT!
Surprisingly, I think another game also did this, One of the Jurassic park games
I loved how if you did it enough the other characters would tell you to stop counting your fucking ammo lol.
One of my favourite missions is where you're going down a river and two v rexes are following. Then at the end you're about to get eaten when kong shows up and I just kept spamming the ammo check prompt while the music faded out lol.
It amused me to think of it as a madness mantra; that no matter how much danger & stress Jack was subjected to, he would keep telling himself he was going to get through this, because "It's ok, I've got enough magazines. It's ok, I've got enough magazines. It's ok, I've got enough magazines..."
The planes didn't get him, DRM killed the beast.

change.org/KingKongGameRemaster I've done a petition for a remaster, have a look at it
Who's DRM?
@@kylecaoile5517 copyright related stuff in games by company so you can not copy there game off the discs and is a pain to run games now on pc
I feel so bad for all the people that leave without watching the credits because they missed that straight *fire* cover.

SO FRESH
King Kong the game was so fucking fun and terrifying back in the day on my good ol PS2
SyntheticKill yeah I remember the creepy atmosphere and the island natives making me terrified as a kid.
That helpless feeling I had as a child without a HUD, the slow movement and only having spear against these monsters.
BlakeyBoi yep ☝️
I had it on Gamecube, but yeah it's probably one of the best movie games I've ever played.
That game had some incredible moments. Wish I could have it legit digital.
Wait was worth it just for those last 30 seconds :3
Overall it's a good adventure game.
When is Raycevick dropping the hottest LP of 2018?
The answer? He just did.
Honestly that was beautiful
Silenced now, thanks Al G Rhythm!
*Watches Video*
"Nicely done as always, buddy."
*Hears cover*
"Have my babies."
Core Ideas Dude that song is SO fire. My favorite song from a game tbh
I love the algorithm. He knows there’s been talks of a bad King Kong game. I’ve been rewatching Raycevick work and BAM. Recommended video.
Hail the algorithm. Long live the King. Kong.
you love your NSA personal agent*
I remembered this game vividly for some reason it really was a damn good game
Bojack & Kage I remember that I was so impressed when you threw a spear at a dinosaur, the spear would actually stick into the dinosaur.
Same
change.org/KingKongGameRemaster
let's get it remastered then
Cinema Sense this games charm is in it’s age a remaster just wouldn’t do it justice
no book to film adaptation is half as good as the masterpiece that is cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Get back to your 0.078% chances man!
That game is lowkey really good. I remember playing it with my little cousins. And being taught by my 5 year old cousin how to play. Hahaha. It was fun.
CWACOMB is really great. I loved that movie as a kid. :)
Toy story 3 on the 360 and ps3 was actually really fun in the sandbox area
Oh hai tomato
*Oooooooooooooooooooh wee, that Riders on the storm cover.*
*You got the juice Ray.*
We demand a full version.
Glad I was able to help with this! Also, for anybody who enjoyed the game or movie, I HIGHLY recommend checking of the "The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island" It's an absolutely gorgous book of concept art of all the wildlife in both the film and the game set up as an ecological guide, going into insane detail on the ecosystems on the island. One of the coolest books I own.
Jabberwockxeno where can I find it?
It was a dream of mine to have it years ago, but most of the licensed stuff from the movie never came to Brazil. I remember spending hours translating whatever I could find from the book over the internet. I think that was one of the things that made me an English student (now teacher). Both the movie and the game have a special place in my heart. Shame I can no longer play it.
Lazaru s: Sadly it;s out of print, you'll have to use ebay.
I never heard of this. That sounds amazing. The ecology of Skull Island was never better then in the game and the Jackson film.
Ahh I see you are a fellow man of culture. I too own this rare tome!
Criminally underrated title. King Kong for PS2 scared me to no end but it's still one of the best movie tie-ins out there. It really pulls you into the grim world of Skull Island and captures the feeling of surviving an island full of deadly creatures incredibly well.
Damn this video is timing is pretty relevant right now.
UA-cam algorithm has a good sense of humor sometimes
“Engaging” is definitely the right word. I rented this when I was like 12, and I think I beat it in one sitting. Not something I’ve done very often.
"its ok, ive got enough magazines.."
i loved to replay this text over and over again :´D
Wait..Alternate ending ?!
You could unlock a secret ending where you take control of a plane and shoot down the ones attacking kong. Then it would end with him being sent back to skull island.
first fps I ever played as a kid, loved this game
Same here
Well good morning to you too Raycevick
King Kong was such in iconic game back in the day. I certainly didn't expect an analysis of it from you, but I'm not complaining!
One of the better xbox 360 launch games^^
Raychevick has officially reviewed my childhood. It was King Kong and Nightfire. Now if only he could retire War of the Monsters.
The secret Brodyquest sequel
What year is this?!
Salokin
You need to shut your mouth
That game was too spooky for me as a kid. Still never finished it
Tom Kearsley Same, didn’t even know you got to play as Kong before this video.
Exact same as me!
It was spooky, but as a kid i was absolutely satisfied by this masterpiece
After watching this video I feel compelled to finish it now.
Tom Kearsley I finished it 😜
we are so back
One of the most interesting things is that Cody Barlog, the lead director of the 2018 God of War reboot, which is one of the most acclaimed games of all time (specifically for it's story), stated that this game, although filled with plenty of flaws, is what inspired him on how a narrative could be implemented into a game. I find it fascinating how much a movie licensed game influenced so many, even the director of the game that many consider the 2018 game of the year alongside the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spiderman for PS4.
Some adaptations are amazing. King Kong, Jurassic Park Operation Genesis, Metro, and so many more.
Can you expand on the many more? I would like to try these games.
Off the top of my head:
The Warriors
The Punisher
Witcher technically counts
X-Men Origins (I think, it's been a while)
The Two Towers
Riddick
Godfather
RyanKaufman The Matrix Path of Neo kicked such ass on PS2 back in 2005 and I was 5 at the time
Stalker is based on a book that was also made into a movie. Pretty loosely, but there is source material for it.
The Witcher
GOOD JERB, STARFORCE.
That aside, I am quite impressed by how much passion the developers put in to a movie tie-in game. I'm not sure it's worth going back to play but at the time it sounds like it was quite a standout example.
Never thought I'd see this on your channel. I loved this game when it came out, played it for hours on the PS2. It also had a fantastic extra section where you could view all the game models in a sort of museum level. I have a lot of good memories from this game, thanks for bringing some attention to it!
King Kong is literally one of my favorite games ever. I have so many good memories of this game, and yes quite a bit of nostalgia. Rage is such a cool ass mechanic, and I was so into it as a kid, and the game was legitimately scary at times, especially when all your companions are split off and you're all alone. And I super agree with how cool the game changing based on how you play. Like in the Sacrifice level, you have to fight a velociraptor. Naturally you hide and throw spears at him from a distance your first time, this the first time you meet a dinosaur and therefore pretty startling. However, if you actually take charge and kill this raptor as soon as he shows up through use of a fire lantern, a second velociraptor shows up, and when you kill that enemy three smaller wolflike enemies that you normally don't find until much later in the game. I'd say that while the game as a whole doesn't have much replay value, a lot of the levels definitely do!
I had a copy of this game but beauty killed it. :(
This game was the first game I've ever played on my PS2 - hell, it's even my first ever video game I've ever played in my whole entire life. That being said, I truly love this game with every fiber of my being. i was both scared, captivated and emotional at the same time when played throughout the story and remembered each part of the chapters. I do wish for a remaster, but let's be real, that won't happen.
Doesn't hurt to try, just sign the petition

>If I just had torrented it
The irony here is killing me.
Anyone remembers the level where Jack is alone and has to go in to a cave full of milipedes and other insects? That part scared the hell out of me when I was a kid, I am sure I wasn't the only one to stop playing for a while because of it.
Even just getting a Remastered edition with modern graphics of this game would be amazing, to be able to see this game and Skull Island with gorgeous graphics could make for a good game
change.org/KingKongGameRemaster
just sign the petition and spread it then
OMG!! I was just going through my Liked videos list and saw this up again!
I'm so glad I can watch it now.
Thank! you! so much! Raycevick!
Thought it was just me that couldn’t find it.

Okay but that rowing animation bug has to be the best thing ever.
You're the most grounded UA-camr that covers gaming topics that I found so far. No overly complex or simplistic language to make you "stand out", nor forceful humour. Just a relaxed dude with his opinion (and undoubtedly soothing voice) who wants to share it with the world. Hopefully I'll be able to subscribe to your Patreon soon. And I also respect your distinct taste for games, no matter how old or unpopular they may be, and it made better accept my own taste for games. Cheers mate!
So this month Act Man finally makes a review of Doom and Raycevick makes a video on King Kong...
Your essays are fairly well-composed and your voice-overs sound superb
I love you Raycevick. Thank you for creating wonderful content.
This game was the second game I ever owned. It was my childhood, and it earned a permanent place in my memory. And I'm so unbelievably excited that you reviewed it.
Edit, Seeing it in play again brings back painfully good memories.
You make the best video essays in the gaming industry. Holy shit this was amazing. I couldn't even give a shit about the subject; you made me care and understand it.
This game is the perfect example of a game you rented at blockbuster or movie gallery because the game you wanted wasn't on the shelf. You took it home expecting nothing at it blew you away.
I would just like to say that I really appreciate and love your writing of games. You take the time to study and get to know the games that you play. You're not like bdobbins or cleanprince, you give positive and even uplifting insight to games. This is the kind of gaming essays that I've always wanted to do and you're an inspiration because I find you to be one of the best. Thank you Raycevick.
I remember CallMeKevin playing this: "JAAAAAAAAAAAAACK".
He must of had it over 60fps cause his was bugged to fuck
@@KrackDaddy Nah Kevin has this natural ability where every game he touches it becomes buggy as hell
In conclusion: Support DRM-free games guys!
That snoop cover...amazing fr love you for doing that
I feel that brontosaur mission is underrated as fuck. So tense and so beautiful at the same time. And so creative. No other game do you have to survive a pack of raptors underneath the feet of giant behemoths. No other game. Serious good stuff there
Obscure movie game?
DRM complaints?
What is this, Accursed farms? haha
Ha ha. Hahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Basically
Nice avgn or angry joe or dsp
It's nice seeing Ross's channel finally getting the growth spike it deserves. I remember watching him when I was still in high school, and I'm 30 now. XD
During my short tenure with the PSP as a kid, I was completely engrossed by this and Medieval. The game was such a great immersive experience.
I love this game SOOOO much, thank you for doing a video on it
So glad you covered this game! its my favourite of all time and you covered just about everything I love about it!
You should play Skull Island: Rise of Kong
The legal bullshit making it unplayable nowadays is sad, games are the one artform doomed to be forever lost to time instead of saved and passed down.
Still loving your work Ray can't wait to See more!
Thank you for this video! Thanks for your time and your work :)
I remember having this since I was 10, couldnt get past the first dinosaur because I was so terrified until I picked it back up at 14 or so.
Litteraly me, but i had a friend beat the level
Watching this made me think, have you ever thought about trying to reach out to developers to interview them about this sort of thing and how they made their games and put that on the channel? I know its a bit of a change from your usual format but it might make for some interesting content.
I've attempted to in the past, but Devs are busy people so it hasn't lined up with a video yet.
Love your videos, man. Keep up the good work.
Always a pleasure watching one of your videos.
This is the one time where reading the comments and spoiling something in the video actually was the right idea on repeat viewings, just for the ending I had literally no idea was there
I loved this game. Finished it in one night with a buddy. It was creepy, had good gameplay and an awesome graphic for that time.
We need a full version of that magnificent cover.
Love the video man , you rock
I remember as a kid being VERY scared to played this game. The feeling of isolation and hopelessness was something I remember most from this game. The story was... meh, and the graphics are lackluster. But yet I remember being terrified to play this game, especially during the levels where the Raptors attack you from the tall grass. I wasn't really good at games just yet, so clearing levels while also being TERRIFIED of the creatures in them made for an immersive and different experience I didn't really start to love until my teenage years.
Best Canadian rapper ever.
Good morning, mah man. Love waking up to your videos.
I love this game, and this channel. I just watched Most Wanted vid. You have covered two of my favorite childhood games, and in great detail definitely subbing!
A remaster for this game is absolutely needed. If they could do this good a job in 2005 on the PS2, imagine in 2020 with the PS5
change.org/KingKongGameRemaster
Sign the petition and spread the word guys, this game NEEDS a remaster
This video is so hot it will even make heat melt!
Excellent video highlighting a game I only knew existed, but little else.
oh man i love love love this game, I can't believe you reviewed it, so awesome.
Hearing Raycevick rap is the most adorable white guy thing ever I love you
Got out of bed at just the exactly right time to watch a fresh 360p video from raycevick :D

Uploading a BF5 video right now ;)
Done
I remember seeing this game a long time ago on a gaming magazine and rediscovering by wathing a full playthrough, really a unsing gem.
I still have it on the gamecube. decent bit to play through every now and again. thanks. keep it up.
Now I know where the inspiration of far cry 3 came from
Bears, beats, Battlestar Galactica.
I can't believe I just seen this vid I have been thinking about this game for the last year, went to buy it physically and didn't find it a couple times. I will have to go out and try again thank you for the video!
I'm so happy you talked about this. This game was so awesome back in the day it scared the absolute shit it of me to this day I don't remember a single game that's scared me more than this with its megapedes and the v-rex chasing you around.
Wait a fucking minute, do I hear Run the Jewels instrumentals in the background? Good taste Ray.
If you want to see a game do the shooter/brawler combo better, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron does it really well.
Back at it again Raycevick!
As always... Really well done videos. Ever think of playing any Sega Dreamcast games? I just like how you break stuff down and explain how you feel about the subject at hand.
This game is what Jurassic Park Trespasser tried to to be.
Oof your remix got muted by censorship bots I suppose
Dude I fucking love your videos. Thank you for putting in the time and effort on them. They're amazing!
I sincerely thank you for this showcase of one of my favorite games. It was such a diamond of my childhood along with the film so much so that I nearly choked a little from hearing the music. You just got a sub
Raycevik, what is your favourite game in each genre?
While most video game chanels make videos on famous anoying stuff like fortnite, you are here talking about a game that most peopple dont even remenber because you have something worthy to say. You seem to always get things right, i played king kong long ago and loved it, and you just sayd why i loved it, without me even knowing. I also adored the Max Payne videos, hope you make something on Half Life one day. Greetings from Brasil!
I was not prepared for that cover but it made my day thank you
This game had some really cool gameplay mechanics. I loved that dealing with enemies was often more of a puzzle than a straight-up shooter.
I feel I should throw out, this game got added to backwards compatibility for Xbox One. So if you have access to an Xbone playing it is much more accessible.
I'm amazed this game did get added lol.
Does a crack for the PC version exist to remove the DRM? You are not a thief if you buy the game and then crack it
It exists but torrenting the game has its own problems. Your save files could get corrupted half through the game multiple times.
I loved the video! Keep it up men
If there was ever a game that NEEDS a spiritual successor....
Games, games, gaming.
Bears, Beats, Battlestar Galactica
Bears do no- WHAT IS GOING ON? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
I don't know whats wrong with me, but had to read you comment 2-3 times, until I realized I was reading "Breasts, Breasts & Breaststar Galactica" in my mind
@@Hriskataaa You should see a doctor about that
Well said.
Played this game through a few times back in the day and I’m glad to hear someone share their thoughts and critiques on it
Had no idea there was an alternate ending! Damn!!!
great video, thanks for covering this game. This was always one of my favorite games when i was younger, i played it a ton! I loved gorillas when i was younger and also played a lot of shooters, so this game was an awesome experience! :'D
It's a shame that this is another case where piracy is the only option to play this game, since the company doesn't do jack shit about it.
