whatever you think of Christianity or the Bible or any religion for that matter, you have to give this rockstar massive kudos for being willing to take off the shades so to speak, and bear himself as a witness to what he believes in. This was very powerful. This was not somebody posing for a camera. This was not what we expect- at all, from celebrity

Kit Richardson, yes, and I wish he would be an advocate for the prolife movement. In the past he has avoided the abortion issue or has even declared to be in favor of abortion rights.

That’s beautiful, brother. I was born the year that the Joshua Tree came out and have always considered U2 one of my favorite bands. I was born again about 2 years ago. U2 is one of the few bands I still enjoy listening to. Warmed my heart to hear Bono talk like this.

Very well said. Watched my dad die in 2013. Became the seed for my UA-cam channel 2 years later. My mom died last July. Saw her at hospice the Day before. Nothing can prepare you for it. You gradually accept it and move on. Know that they are in a better place. I have 3 medically incurable conditions. Death is my graduation. Death leaves a scar. Loved ones stay alive in your heart

I love near death experience (NDE) stories. All of the NDE stories confirm what he says. There is no death. There is a continuation, or a return to a place that feels more real, more normal, more like home than life here on earth. Not all the stories are pleasant. Some experience he'll, but none just end with a dirt nap

First time to hear his story of grief. When my mom died almost two years ago it is U2 songs that comforts me, though the lyrics or the message of the song is not about death nor grief, but the emotion of the songs comforts me. I can't explain back then, but now I understand. Thank God for U2!

It is wonderful and important to hear a “rock star” who understands why Jesus had to die! Now it’s on us to be worthy of His sacrifice. To shine His light on everyone we meet.
When our children were young we sent them to religion class to reinforce what they were learning at home in order to hopefully give them a firm moral foundation. After class we would ask them what they learned, and they would always give the same answer, to love and care for one another. Now that they are grown with families of their own, they finally understand that simple phrase and how important it really is. Their foundations are strong! Jesus, shine your light on me so I may be a light in the darkness that surrounds us 🙏🏼.

I’ve been a huge U2 fan since I saw them on tv as a youngster at Live Aid and being proud that they were fellow Irishmen.
I’ve been a Christian for 25 years, I get totally what he saying that death died. I lost my mum to cancer 12 years ago, she was getting palliative care at home. 15 mins before she died I felt a breeze circling her room and I knew she was going to die. I held her hand as she died, I felt her spirit pass through me and out my finger tips in my other hand, then I started crying uncontrollably and felt like I was being sick like all the emotion of losing her was coming out. I’ve never cried over her death since, I don’t visit her grave because I know she isn’t there, I wish everyone could feel that hope and peace over the death of loved ones

Grief and loss and abandonment is a powerful motivator to perfect our art or provide motivation to help others. It is in this void thru creating or helping, we can find our similarities with our Master Creator and see that love far outlasts our short time here. The music of U2 stays relevant after all these years because it connects our souls to one another, humanity, music, and ultimately God.

I enjoyed hearing Bono speak about his life n Im sorry for his loss even tho i have lost my mom also. I understand having a hole in your heart after the loss. I also have healed my loss w/music now that i am 61 years, and lost my mom at 25 years. I thought there was nothing to heal the pain but I realize now that my love of music, which my mom taught me to have & encouraged me to have, brought me so much healing then and even now music has healed me from deep betrayals n heartbreak Ty, ty, ty for this. Keep it coming please.

Bono, one of the greatest voices and lyricists to ever hit rock and roll. And then I discovered Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell. ALL of them are nearly perfect in their chosen fields, but at opposite ends of the "light spectrum." All of them have been virtually the soundtrack to my life at various times, and for various reasons. And I thank God for all of them for the joy they have brought me!!!

Ty Bono for everything uve done and been to me in my life. Your voice inspires me, i love singing harmonies w/u & Edge and i feel like the secret member of the band. Im satisfied w/that. Ive loved u and the boys since 1983 and still love seeing your concerts on YT in MN., USA. Happy early birthday. Keep up the good work because it healed u and Im so proud of u. Plus your daughter and u sharing the same born day is so cool, i think. I also have a son that has a son that shares his same born day (may 24) coming up this month. ty youtube & David Fuller Studio for sharing this interesting piece. I love hearing Bono speak and sing. This video reminded me of possibly my favorite holy sonnet:
    Death, be not proud
    BY JOHN DONNE
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
    Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

My mom’s mom died when my mom was 6 months old while her father was with his dad who was dying.
I got news that my granddaughter was born prematurely and then got News my 1st cousin had died (a young man with (2) young children).
Bono - I can only imagine how your mind must have been at such a tender age of 14. Your mind had to be overwhelmed and tortured with grief.
So much that the god part of you was able to help you endure. You have a beautiful talent that you were able to share with the world. A talent that gave us all a passion and desire to admire and respect you.
What you have given to this world - your Mom through God give you comfort and reason to be. You should look for that within you.
That Spirit has filled you and you have shared that with all of us and we are with you
and want you to stay lifted because we are grateful for you and thankful we are able to be here for one another.
Just got a call my mom is no longer available for me to call and cry to and get comfort from. While I was writing this - I was interrupted.
Made me think about girl interrupted (a movie). I am 66 years old and life has been very interesting and much to think about. I know god is going to comfort me when I am missing my mom and thinking about her and my dad.
We have a connection Bono and now it is established. God be with you wherever you are.

It's the line of an old church hymn by Martin Luther, that on Good Friday death killed death. Later on the same thought was a central idea in the philosophy of GWF Hegel. And even Tolkiens "Lord of the Rings" has the similar idea of a negation of negation (destruction of the ring, and self-sacrifice).

I identify as a Christian Catholic, however I am more spiritual than religious. Ever since the age of 12 I have had a different view of death; let's not forget that in the old testament death is called the "Angel of Death". God creates angels not demons. Furthermore, and further on in my adulthood I started seeing death in a different light as well. Many people fear death, death doesn't hurt! It's what brings us to death that may hurt, whether natural circumstances/illness or violence.
To me death is the most non-prejudiced entity since man was put on earth. Let me explain- death has a job and does it efficiently, but death doesn't care if we are the richest person on earth or the poorest, it doesn't care if we are straight or gay, it doesn't see age-whether you are here one minute or 100 years. It even had to take Our Lord temporarily. It is even all across the board, it has no favoritism.
That, to me is the beauty of death itself.
Bono, happens to be a hero to me for all he has done for Africa.
    May God bless you always.
You are an inspiration in my life.
I have been writing lyrics since the age of 12/13, still write to this day. Bono/U2 have been inspirations on my writing, more so in my adult life.
    Thank you

Regarding death and what follows, this is not the scriptural truth that makes one free. (John 8:32) Don't expect Christendom to either teach or uphold scriptural truth; because it never has yet. Jehovah's words are truth - said Jesus Christ. (Psalm 17:17) And Jehovah has stated that the dead "are conscious of nothing at all." (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Upon death, for nearly all human beings who die; there is NO after-life; NO going to heaven (or a non-existent "hell" [place of torment]); no "passing on" to a better life or other existence. There is simply "sleeping" in death; as Jesus described the state of his dead friend Lazarus. (John 11:11-44) Indeed, "the soul that is sinning, it itself will die" (Ezekiel 18:4) - and all humans now (even the most godly) fall short and sin. "The wages sin pays is death" (Romans 6:23), so, upon death; things are evened-out. But, yet, there is MORE to hope for, thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus perfect human life. The ransom he paid and the atonement for sins he paid is enough to cover for people's sins - to make it possible for both persons resurrected back to life and those who will never die (who will survive the soon-coming Armageddon Day) to live forever (as Adam and Eve were originally meant to). (In nearly all cases) the resurrection of those who die before Armageddon will occur AFTER Armageddon Day; after this world undergoes significant repair - people will be welcomed back into a world transformed/being transformed into a paradise here - one of peace. There will be a resurrection of "the righteous and the unrighteous". (John 5:28,29) People will hear Jehovah and/or Jesus' voice calling their name, bringing them back from their sleeping in death. (Job 14:15) People who died in the past will get a chance to be educated about Jehovah's truth and standards - in a trouble-free setting. Then they can choose whether to obey Jehovah, so as to keep on living- or not. So, until that time, until that future resurrection day; (except in the rarest of all cases) to be dead is to be missing out on life, period. That is why, yes, it IS so very tragic; and why life is SO very, very precious. Also until then, though, those who have died are totally SAFE, in Jehovah's perfect memory. That is how closely he has observed and cared about individuals, their whole lives - He knows them completely, through and through; and so is absolutely able to resurrect persons back to life, as the same, unique individuals that they were. What about the OPPOSITE of this scriptural truth though? What if Satan's original LIES to Adam and Eve were correct - that they would NOT die (even if they disobeyed God, as God had warned them) [Genesis 3:4] - that they possessed "immortality of the soul", the primary teaching of MOST of the world's religions today? Well, in one line, that would certainly render Jesus Christ's sacrifice and everything to do with that - all of his and Jehovah's teachings, all of the writings of the prophets and apostles - and, indeed, the entire Holy Bible and lives faithfully lived according to it TO BE A TOTAL FARCE, wouldn't it. YET, THAT IS NOT THE CASE. Instead, the problems are with the anti-scriptural - the entirely POPULAR, but thoroughly WRONG doctrines of men, which most people have allowed to displace the life-and-future-vital scriptural truth of God Himself. The results have been tragic. It has produced much evil. Throughout history, many people have been slaughtered, tormented, have committed suicide, have cut their lives short, or have cut short the lives of others - all due to belief in this anti-scriptural, but yet prevalent false religious belief, which makes death seem "not so bad", and peoples' gift of life from Jehovah seem not so precious or holy. The false religions of the world will never be able to come clean in God's eyes - for the falsehoods they have taught; and the harm, injustices, and evil that have come from them. (Revelation 18:23,24) So, what God wills, urgently, is for any honest-hearted individuals still left within any of the world's false religions to LEAVE them, immediately (Revelation 18:4,5); "repent and turn around" (Acts 3:19); learn Jehovah's scriptural truth and obey it (John 17:3; 4:24); and then keep on staying loyal and true to Him. (In God's new world - His Kingdom - here, people WILL grow physically and spiritually perfect again - no one will be sick, or suffering. Then, its true - people won't be needing glasses.) :)
