i could talk to nobody about this anime, i really really love this anime, this anime was probably the anime that really made me into anime, and cause of that this anime has a special place in my heart
btw thank you for reviewing this
my mom rented princess monoke when i was a kid and thought it was a standard western cartoon (she almost didnt let me watch it cause the "themes" were too adult)...it blew my mind and that was my first anime experience
While I am planning full reviews of a couple summer shows (like Danganronpa 3 next time!), I have neither the time nor the inclination to sit down and formally cover every single one I kept up with. So I’d like to ask: would anyone be interested in a seasonal wrap-up video of sorts, touching on everything I saw? It’s hardly the most original idea out there, but if people want to see it I’d have no problem delivering.
I'd definitely like to see a wrap up of some kind. Sure, it's not original, but Imo, more youtubers should do something like that. Either way, I'm interested.
Yes please, and I would like too see how you handel it sice I belive you would do it pretty well. Also it will lessen all those "plz review ...." comments for you so I think you should.
I don't mind seeing that, I watch most to almost all of your videos
I watched this show back in college (idk 6 years ago?) And I remember *_that_* I watched it, but I literally forget everything about it LMAO
I love the Anime... It's definitely different than any other anime of course. It was not a my cup of tea at first, because I liked high school / comedy / romance / action animes. At first, I got bored, but when I got pass first episodes, I was hooked! I watched whole thing in a one day.
The thing is, the Anime made me feel like there's nothing same as before. It has lot of deep writing and poet like sentences which I couldn't fully understand, but I loved it. I love to watch it one more time...
I had this show on my radar for at least the last 3 years, however I just couldn't get past the 1st episode.
Now that I finally got past it and watched the whole series I think it was a great experience for me.
The main thing I like is that Yoshior and Mahiro with them just oozing style and detail were just such a much needed breath of fresh air. After 200 animes you can't really enjoy normal art quality anymore as it all blends together in a pretty generic, if colourful mix.
Actually, the flashbacks of the two being children had them looking much more generic.
This is also the only anime I've ever seen where I genuinely wouldn't call the antagonist (of the first half anyway) the villain of the show and I actually managed to see reason behind his actions and why from the protagonists POV he would still be the antagonist despite having a valid reasoning behind his actions.
You should watch your animes again if you dont enjoy any new animes or just say what is your favourite genre maybe i can help help you, because i have seen over 150 animes too.
@@Arman-sr2gu i might be a year late.... But can you suggest something like death note or code geass?
@@waleedahmed3225 definitly watch Kaiji. iT has plot twists as hell and is really like death note. I didnt watch it after 8 months, when i got it recommended. But watch it, it is really good.
And if you enjoy it and want some more just send me a message on Myaninelist.

Great review man, I convinced me to watch. And though there were times of frustration I had with the anime, it was all worth it to reach the end of this epic tale. A new favorite. But Grex, Aika's death WAS very possibly sense less, and magic played a role in it, those to seemingly senseless things were brought together, and Aika decided that it made sense to her. So that wasn't such a bad line. But, I agree with most everything else you said. keep it up brother.
Its one of my favourite shows :) dont think its always logical but i like the characters, the writing stile the story and the overall feeling of the show. For me its a 8,5/10
quoting shakespeare is the best part, what the hell do you mean lol
Great show thanks for the review
Just one thing... Butterfly Effect, that's something I haven't see anyone mentioning yet...
I think is kind of obvious that aside of the Shaksperean stuff, the Butterfly Eefect is part of the story too. Right? :(
If you love time travelling/want to learn more about time, try watching Steins;Gate
Great review as always~
Though just noticed, you may want to edit the part- Aika's "boyfriend" at around 11:20
Ah! Nice catch. Too late to do much about it now though. If it was a big error I'd pull the video and re-upload it, but a silly mistake of that nature isn't worth it.
... and to add insult to injury, "girlfriend" is spelled "girlfiend".
@@GrexEleven lol I make that mistake sometimes too
They made a dub since this video, it's also no longer on Hulu, the dub made it to Hulu by time I watched, but they took it off within the last year.
To be honest Hakaze being a sexy redhead, was the best thing about this anime.
@@ambroshiavolpe2400 because its not good.
Feels like u simply can't relate with main characters.
you're no supposed to relate to the main characters, they're psychos and crazy. the relatable character is Hanemura, the new exodus mage.
@@mmmk6322 woops, i may be a psycho :O imo the MC's and Aika ware one of the most relatable anime characters I know... It's all subjective anyway
The plot didn't make sense to me cuz usually the protagonist is the one that leads the fight and maybe win and aikas death was point less it kills the point of romance in the show overall I giv it a 6/10
I'm in episode 21 and believe me u should give a try ull not disappoint ..this anime is really have great story and logic .
And the last episode did such a beautiful job of pulling it all together, tightening off all the loose ends.
I hate how they sidelined Mahiro for the second half of the show. I started reading the manga a like it more.
The shoving of Shakespeare quotes down your throat pissed me off. While I wasn't expecting the second half it just felt meh
beethoven has a piece called tempest
I thought it was great
Quality wise, this anime was flawed. But I do appreciate the message of the story and it kinda pulls on the heartstrings with all the flashbacks, so in the end I liked this anime alot.
My main thing is with this show was that aika didn't need to kill herself. The red hair guy was trying to do what was done at the end anyway.
Exactly, it was senseless but she was too stubborn and locked in her own way of thinking to escape the Fate she dealt herself.
"Who is Aika's girlfriend?" O_O
On the whole, the 4/5 episode long debate was annoying as %$#&! I did like the atmosphere and Oshima's OST was outstanding, and fundamentally the plot has a lot of holes. It has a strong emotional core, so a B feels right, but I wouldn't argue with a C.
Can't really say it was all bad really liked it not that good not that bad either
I was certainly hooked and watching it but I can never recommend this anime.
Boring or what??
This anime. I think is like good build up, good character but pretty bad execution and bad ending. If the ending was good, i think this anime will be one of masterpiece. This anime know how to make a character, its hard to make a charming character like Fuwa Aika, they make Fuwa Aika so good and destroy her at the same time. Lets be honest Aika and Yoshino relationship was great, with all that flashback, and how Yoshino feel to her without showing it to other people, how yoshino feel when Aika death, that was amazing. But seriously i feel upset when they introduce Aika as a representation of the tree of exodus. That killing it, i prefer someone killing her instead she kill herself. Its like more surprisingly if someone we doesn't expect kill her i dont know maybe they can make yoshino kill her or mahiro himself kill her, or hakaze maybe. Showing Aika kill herself is the point when this anime being a shit.
The others all would have been more predictable, I thought it a bigger twist that she killed herself. It made it all make sense, and no one can say for sure whether she was wrong to do so or not on the grand scheme of things.
This anime is excessively flawed. Anime (in form) should, in theory, help alleviate the burden concerning suspension of disbelief. However, without the lens of the originating culture, in its original time, it is difficult to be led along to the destination it believes to be proper.
I don't know the popularity of this show in America or Japan, but I could tell there were several points where the logical conclusions the characters were coming to and not questioning made little sense to me as an American. Some of these seemed to be from the culture of the Japanese, but others just felt like plot necessities that were irrational. Which is frustrating when one of the main themes is logic. Worse, many of these points were established in the characters own minds, and not factually, making the opinion of the characters law when it suited the story.
I just binged the entire series in one sitting, and I had a nagging feeling that I had seen it before. So, either I had, and it left no impression, or I was seeing it for the first time, and that it was very obvious. Until the end, I held out hope for a happy ending, because it was promised by the characters interpretation of the title of the series. I am increasingly perturbed by shows that rely heavily on "Shakespeare" or whatever, as if it lends gravity.
I couldn't like any of the characters, except skeleton girl and Aika, mostly because they were damsels in distress, more than having any redeeming qualities in themselves. Its hard for me to remember Japanese names longer than 4 or 5 letters apparently. The second avatar of Exodus was probably the most human out of any, but he felt like a superfluous character of a timeline that shouldn't have been in the first place.
I could complain about this show to no end, but just wanted to vent my disappointment some. Its sad that this show might actually vindicate some in the action it warns against, because the players make a poor performance. (and who can you blame but the writer, the self proclaimed puppet master of this drama?) But because it is such a bad piece, I can rewrite it in my head, fix a few grievous errors, and leave it alone.
I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone except for a discussion about what not to do when crafting a compelling anime.
does anybody realise this is the story about 2 teens who both lost the love of their lives. Mahiro went on a vandetta quest and found out about magic, Yoshino was left behind by his only friend and when he came back it turned out the world may be ending and everyone in their town has died... Mahiro drowns in anger while Yoshino is suffering in silence. They both seek logic in everything that is happening despite the madness around them as saying that nothing makes sense is like admitting that Aika's death was pointless. What I mean is, the occasional lack of logic is intentional, the MC's are smart but ultimately driven by emotions and they only rationalize their actions. And the story itself is like a meta view of how they try to make sense of the world that is falling apart. Most people lack the brain cells to realize how layered this anime is and compare it to shit that is most anime.
@@MyDogIsaHobbit thank you im beginning to feel like im the only one who loved this anime
