That's exactly what I find strange, I understand that there had to be a third version, but why Suicune. Ho-oh was all the trio master why not focus on all three that would have been much cooler
Sun teams getting a fire water grass core in gen 9 was certainly unexpected. And considering how much of a staple groudon and kyogre are in restricted formats wake is going to fit right in. Koridon also has a lot of potential as a sun setter that also gets an attack buff in restricted formats. Wake is not only a sun mon but also a great counter to sun. So I expect it to thrive
It really sucks that Absolute Zero/Sheer Cold got changed since Generation 7 where it loses accuracy when used by Suicune or Kyogre for being Water-types. Even the description change sucks.
Water only being weak to grass and electric has always been too good. Because of that, it's the main reason why grass and electric attacks get used. And back when grass and electric were exclusively special moves, that meant specially defensive water types like Calm Mind Suicune had it even better.
It should've been weak to poison in the first place, not only that is very thematically fitting, its also a physical type, so in old gens water can't just tank everything without worry. It just shows how water was and still is TOO convenient of a type, whereas poison was so fucking bad only SE to grass.
