I have no plans for a full video on the 2017 season due to a lack of meaningfully new things to say. It's more Gintama. However, I will at least briefly touch on it during my seasonal roundup video, for whichever season it finishes.
are you looking for October 2 ? :)
Grex When does the Animation for Gintama start to look really awesome?
episode 202+ is in 16:9 first 201 episodes are in 4:3
Phantom Diamond from Episode 1 itself
If you mean 16:9, that's episode 201 onwards
The manga is finished now. Why don't you review the whole series now?
What I'll remember of Gintama is Kondo-san wiping his ass with coarse sandpaper to protect Otae's honor.
I dont think I ever laughed harder at an anime than when the I AM SHOCK song first kicked in.
Yeah. They were in middle of a big fight and this happened. Only gintama can do this

To me anime is divided between Gintama and everything else.Gintama is in a league of its own.It still amazes me how well it's put together. The historical elements, the Sci-fi,the parody, the comedy, the social commentary, everything works out so well together.
Only a guy like Sorachi hideaki could ever pull this off.
@@furionmax7824 Gori sensei is a genious. In his gorrila-ish glory😂😂
I agree it's in a league of its own, but not by any chance in a superior way, just in a weird-unique way.
For me, even mentioning Gintama and LoTGH in the same sentence is a blasphemy, even more so if you try to comapare them as equal
I just started gintama and I’m bored to death might drop it
Can anyone give a guide?
The only anime that I remember all episodes
How about now? surely you wouldn't remember all of them now unless you've re-watched it
And remember almost all the minor characters and small jokes. Like Taka-tin, the panty thief, Pulp Fiction, and Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon
Yed
i dont think after 3 years you'll remember all the episodes with its silly long episode title
The only anime that i remember 5 6 episodes
i was singing to every opening and ending song that you showed LOL

The first 50 episodes actually gets better if you rewatch them after completing all 316 episodes
Yep,
I experienced it too😁♥️
It's was rlly a struggle to get through them had to stop multiple times. Bout to hit episode 100 got better but don't see How it could rate so high. The future episodes have to be RLLY good for it to be rated so high and the fans completely ignore the first 100 or so episodes.
@@itssluggy9278 I'm on the 50th ep I want to know when does it get serious and get badass fight and sad scenes
DD10FC you. In. Luck. I'm the 50s actually we get get the first serious arc. You it's ep 57 called the benizakura arc. There's also a movie of it with improved animation and quality.
@@dd10fc18 Take your time with Gintama. The serious arcs are really far apart but they are all amazing. The comedy episodes in between are amazing. I was like you too, searching for serious arcs and badass fights but after Gintama got completely serious around ep300s I realised just how much I enjoyed the silliness.....
The Good, the Bad, and the Gintama.
The only possible way I can think of how to describe the series in general is: It's a magnificent piece of s**t.
It's a masterpiece and one of the most underrated series in history.
Prosack Metheus description level 10/10
As a history enthusiasts watching Gintama after writing 4-6 sheet of paper(assignment)of Asia early Civilization is great.. especially you happen to have to study all of Japan's history before watching Gintama man it was a ride especially that Nobunaga joke. The 3 kingdoms joke from Chinese history and of course the Japanese Revolution before the Meiji Restoration.
@The Accelerator thats good news.. Gintoki deserves it
@Othinus Chan definitely for a reason
Its not underrated. Its fking overrated with childish humour
Gintama > every other anime
Sakura Mitsutsuki > every other opening
Gintoki > every other MC
over all: Gintama rules
so yeah just watch Gintama and you will join our club
Can't believe someone actually disliked this review. The is by far the best review of Gintama.
It may actually be a good review, but for me, even mentioning Gintama and LoTGH in the same sentence is a blasphemy, even more so if you try to comapare them as equal. That's just an example of why someone can dislike the review
ElephantsLover I agree with you, its stupid to dislike it for such a reason. I just wanted to answer for what possible reason one could dislike the review. I personally don't like Gintama but that doesn't mean i don't believe that it is a really good show, or that this review is good. Only idiots think that if they themselves don't like a particular anime then that means that the anime is bad.
This show really is one of those that get better the more times you watch it. Masterpiece.

This review is incredible! You really did an excellent job exploring all the different elements of the show, the comedic and the non-comedic, the good and the bad. Gintama is so dear to my heart and you did it all the justice it deserves. Subbed! Can't wait to see more of your reviews.
Thank you, I'm flattered. Gintama is very important to me as well, so I knew if I was gonna review it, I had to do it right. The overwhelmingly positive response has been both gratifying and heartwarming.
Keep up the great work! And thanks for spreading the Gintama love ^^

this is the best Gintama review I've seen yet of Gintama, not because of the final verdict but because of the sheer quality, it's really well done!

I stumble on Gintama accidentally. It was watching divx tv then i started replacing the numbers at the end of the url of the video (number = a specific video). It was the introduction of the Shinsengumi. Never have i literally LOLed on an anime. From that point on, I was hooked. circa 2007.
Honestly, this was the best Gintama review I’ve ever seen. You successfully captured all of the good and bad parts of the series, but still managed to make the series sound really good. As a person who’s seen almost every single episode of the anime, I totally agree with all of your points. Well done, I’m definitely subscribing!
Duuude... I have been thinking for AGES to find the best episodes to get people hooked to the series as it can be really hard if you dont know the cast.. Gintama to me is so much more than just a good anime series.. its a masterpiece where the author is trying to show us in an amazing way how important some things are. How important it is so stay to your own beliefes. Nearly all the characters during the series are made with so much love and care I couldn't even imagine where to start it... Im trying not to be a weebo but this series really hit me hard many times and brought me to the brinks of death with laughers and feels... so yea.. WE ARE THE ODD JOBS!
Bro this video is underrated. Love your review on Gintama, because you're not just pick the good point but also the bad point of the anime.
Thank you for this review! Gintama is very dear to me and people encouraging others to watch it too is automatically subbed-worthy. You seemed to put a lot of effort in this vid and it shows. :D I'll recommend this vid to anime seekers. Thanks!
I need to read the manga to see if Madao finally gets a job
It is rare to see someone do such a good review, especially on anime. I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy your content
Just have to say, *this just might be the perfect review of Gintama that I've ever seen.* Honestly, as someone who is probably one of the biggest Gintama fanboys ever, this review is just... awesome. With great, clean editing, clever use of splicing up the openings and endings, going into thorough detail about the good and bad and overall giving a really nice overview of the amazing greatness that is Gintama. Thank you man, seriously, massive props to you.
However, my only criticism with your review is that... *DAMN, those spoiler scenes!!!* Especially with specific scenes from later arcs, *(SA & FS ESPECIALLY.)* It may, for people who haven't seen the show yet, ruin their experience when they get to those arcs. I know it wasn't your intention, but for future reviews, please avoid really big spoilers.
Sorry if I sounded like a massive prick, but other than that, your review of this show is absolute perfection. Keep at it man, definitely subscribing!!!
Many thanks for the huge praise. And as for your complaint, duly noted for future videos. I made it a point to select scenes that I felt would be vague and unspecific out-of-context, especially for those unfamiliar with Gintama, but since you aren't the first to bring this up, I might've let things get a little out of hand.
As I said before, I know it wasn't your intention, so don't worry too much about it. As with any review, giving both the positives and negatives is necessary, and my criticism is there only to help, so in any case, thank you for taking it into consideration.
Other than that. *Grex's Gintama review = Perfection.*
*Keep at it, man!*
Best anime review I've seen, so well made! Gintama's my all time favourite series and this review is as good as a Gintama review can be.
Only Gintama can excite you with awesome action, make you cry of sorrow and make you die of laughter; one after the other, all in but a few minutes...
Gintama is by far my favorite anime and honestly, not once have i gotten tired or bored of it.
Have you watched One Piece?

I only mentioned One Piece because its an anime that has also made fans excited with awesome action, cry of sorrow and die of laughter..
Really good video! Just wanna point out to anyone passing through - the dramatic arcs, particularly the ones near the end of the series, are EXTREMELY good. What makes Gintama so special to me is not it's comedy or it's drama separate, but that both exist within one series, and that both are SO SO good.
Please watch Gintama.
Shinpachi isn't a "bespectacled young dojo owner", he's a young dojo ownered bespectacle .
Big 3 and forgot about Detective CONAN 😂
Gintama is the best anime for me nothing can replace it with great sense of humor👌
A lil something an anime reactor (Animaechan) said about Gintama that reminded me why the series is so special: “Any other series would be about his past (joui war), but Gintama looks at that and says ‘but what happens after?’"
you covered all the things I'd want to mention when telling someone about this series...great review!
Excellent review. Gintama will always be my favorite anime. The author is a troll of the highest degree, which I can truly appreciate. However, after having watched and read all of it to date, I can't really call it a comedy. It's a long con, with the hard laughter there to keep you watching as the real story unfolds. Rewatching for the third or fourth time right now, can't wait to see the live action.
The only thing you could point out, is the historical reference. It REALLY plays a huge part in anime. Yoshida Shoin actually existed. So did Shoka Sonjuku. Hanzo-Zenzo? You could check all this out, and reference for Shinsegumi is only the starter.
I know it has been 4 years but Takasugi really was a student of the real Yoshida Shoin. Yoshida died through decapitation. His executioner? Yamada Asaemon.
The only anime that makes me legitimately laugh out loud. other animes have only made me chuckle or give a quick haha but Gintama is side-splittingly funny, leaves me out of breath and even gives surprisingly awesome action when they go shounen. i know there are a lot of great animes, but Gintama is the one I love most. it's worth going through the whole 300+ episodes.
I've seen a few episodes, and so far so good, it is really funny. I am looking forward to some of the serioius parts too, but so far it's a good show to watch when I want an episode of comedy. You do a great job of talking about the comedy in the show, which makes me really want to watch more of it too. Great overall review too, you earned yourself a new subscriber.
Thank you for doing this review. On all of UA-cam there was only one other decent review on this show but you my friend have done this show justice. Gladly! Happy to hear you were so pleased with the video, a fair amount of work went into it.
wow... Great review!, the amount of effort you put in it is noticiable!
great job! excellent delivery, and a brilliant, well-weighted analysis from the perspective of somebody who likes: the addressing of pros and cons. youve covered the bases well, with your fluid, well-executed in depth approach from both inside and out. this effectively explained the point of gintama across to the face of somebody fresh to it, as well as somebody versed with it. you've got another subscriber for your brilliant work :)

Gintama is my favorite anime and always will be. So sad to see it in its last arc in the manga but all great things have to come to an end. After re watching it 5 times now it's time to do so again as I wait for a conclusion to the series. Gintoki and cast are the best characters to ever exist
tyoll4 ahhh remember when everyone thought it was the last arc
Now looking back. Gintama has the perfect ending in its Final movie. Couldn’t ask for more… it’s a long journey, but I’m glad that it all ends perfectly

This it the best Gintama review I have ever seen. Any chances of getting a review of Gintama 2017 once it's over?
A full review is unlikely, as I’d mostly be parroting points I already mentioned here, but I will at least touch on the latest season in my seasonal roundup video, whenever it ends.
Zrump ja nai da! Katsura da!
Y´know Gintama is my second favorite series of all time, and i´m very glad with the new season in the horizon and this review exposed Gintama for what it is, with it´s flaws, but that just show how of an honest fanbase Gintama have, and i´m very glad that is that way.
Good review man.
Great review dude. This is one off the best i've see other than maybe one other. Keep up the good work.
also i said on another video. Just a tip, a lot of hard work must have gone into creating thins so maybe watermark the video or put on something that shows you made it. Its a good way to protect your stuff from content thieves.
Thanks for the tip. If theft becomes an issue I'll consider it, but as a viewer I've always found watermarks and the like very distracting, so I don't really want to include them if it can be avoided.
Create a logo if you can, something that we all can recognize as you. Plus your voice is amazing.
I actually found this anime based on a watchmojo video of "top 10 anime you have to watch". They said that they had a bunch of humor (which I love), and serious arcs. I have been a fan of this episode for nearly a year now, and I am caught up to episode 357 (at the time of writing). Sure the first 25 episodes are slow going, but once you get past that, you will LOVE IT!
I don't get people that drop Gintama. You see, this anime aired back 2008-2009 in my country. The dub was not good, the jokes was kinda off, and I watched it since that infamous episode filler 1 and 2, but even then, I really liked it. This anime has a very unique charm and I've never seen this kind of show, in any media.
I'm a huge anime fan, and Gintama is the only anime i have dropped (in episode 35) out of the 97 anime series i have watched including romance, drama, adventoure, sci-fi, mecha, horror, psycological and of course shonen. I will point out the things that led me to the first and only anime to drop till now (keep in mind i have watched all One piece, Naruto, Bleach, Dragonball, HxH and other long anime series, so length is not even a problem for me) :
- First of all, Gintama is a terrible choice for someone who wants plot driven narratives-stories or action/drama/adventure based stories where things actually change and progress.. and NO, some 6 episode arcs are not enough for someone to consider Gintama as plot-based or filled with drama-action- plot twists-adventure. Its like claiming Hellsing Ultimate to be really funny and comedic just because there is a 1-2 minute comedic scene in some (50 minute) episodes. If you agree with me that Gintama has not enough quantity of the elements that i mentioned, for someone who seeks them in an anime then there's your reason. If for you there are enough, bare in mind that for many anime fans there aren't.
-Next, many jokes are impossible to understand for many, especially if someone doesn't know much about japan and japanese culture. So, even if comedy/parody are enough (or even plenty) for someone to keep him going, not understanding the jokes and references could be a huge boundary.
The greatest reason that i think many people drop it, is because they are unaware of the facts that i mentioned so they don't know in what they are getting into. A huge blame for this comes from many Gintama fans. In my opinion it is pure deception to talk about fight scenes and drama and twists and actual plot when mentioning Gintama because these elements are AT LEAST SECONDARY for the anime and extremely rare. THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS COMEDY/PARODY.
That said, i encourage everyone to start watching Gintama to see if its their cup of tee, because truth being told, its really great for a lot of people, BUT TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION what i just said WHEN DECIDING TO CONTINUE OR NOT.
@@user-lg7lx7wp5t ok, fair enough. maybe because I had no expectation back when I watched this show's the reason I really like it. Back then, Gintama aired just before Bleach (anime that I used to love... well not anymore) and other more popular show.
1. Yeah, I agree that most Gintama fans (including me) hyped about their serious arcs, especially after Shogun Assassination arc. But the thing is most of us, still think this show's comedy first. Sure we're gushing about every drama-serious moment, but that's because the whole show now's more serious than ever. Too serious, I can't handle it, not because I dislike the change tone, but I'm afraid that I will lost another great character again (even though it's beautiful). I care all of them. It's even more sad after you know these character's If this anime just aired back when let say at 100 episode, most of the time, we would talk about reference jokes, meme, how they have no budget or just funny moments. but if other people interpret this with most shonen that's more plot-driven like FMA or HxH, then no, I'm sorry.
Whenever I want to tell anybody to watch this show, I would make sure that: a. It's shonen, it has serious moment, but make sure you're okay with more slow, absurd-funny, and don't mind with fillers. And don't worry, with how the show is, even filler episodes aren't that bad if you know this whole show ain't serious. b. This show's a comedy, I mean it, comedy, most of time. Make sure you're sign up for comedy-parody. c. This show didn't care about plot up until recent arc.
d. You watch this show because of the characters. Definitely the biggest selling point. Well, it's more than 300 episodes now, and by that point anything can make anyone attached, but these characters are just fun to watch.
2. Well, shit. I know it's not the most satisfying answer, but: that's just you. Comedy is objective, what makes you laugh is subjective. I can see if some jokes (in anything) is not funny but at the very least I can appreciate there was an attempt to make a good and clever joke. If you see how Gintama makes reference as a joke, it's still well written jokes. Even if I don't get the reference, most of the time I still find it pretty funny. Like when there was a chapter (more comedy-oriented) that make JoJo reference back when it wasn't as popular as now. I don't know what Stand is, but the reason why it's funny because Gintoki's denial that he saw a ghost and called it Stand. It's funnier after you know what JoJo is, yes, but it is a crime if you don't even find this joke's not clever. That's how you make a joke. It's not that I'm saying all Gintama joke's gold, because that's impossible.
Just like I said before: we (fans) always think Gintama is a comedy first, then drama. Most of us still believe it. But the acurate answer's is: Gintama is both comedy and drama. You need all of them to "get" Gintama. If you just want the drama, then there's no point. I'm not saying you can't enjoy only the drama part absolutely hate the comedy, but you clearly miss a whole gold experience. I appreciate your opinion to drop Gintama, you don't have to torture yourself even more. Also I don't really know about Gintama's fandom...overall. I just genuinely love this show and don't care what people said
@@user-lg7lx7wp5t you doesn't have to understand deeply about Japanese culture to understand the joke bruh🗿they take many references from pretty famous anime and game and still you didn't get the joke??for someone watching one piece I'm pretty sure you have already watched Naruto, bleach,HxH, assassination classroom, kuroko no baske, lupin,Conan, doraemon, dragon ball, attack on mid🗿,etc

@@cocoroach_ok Thanks for the answer. If I had heard your point of view about Gintama before I started it, then I would have had a much better experience knowing in what I was getting into. Just imagine that back then, I watched the episodes just to get to the more serious parts, because many people presented Gintama as a show filled with action , drama..etc, except from comedy. There was no way for anyone to enjoy this show like this. Now that I have cooled down a little, I will surely give it another go but this time I will do it the right way. Relax and enjoy the comedy as much as I can and when the more serious parts come, it will be a nice bonus. I hope the series will continue to be as good as they have been thus far and even better if possible, because I know how many people Gintama makes happy.
I dont think im even close to being able to make a judgement on Gintama, since I'm not even 20 episodes in.
So far it's good, I get constant chuckles throughout the episode, some big laughs, but I suspect hasnt really kicked into gear yet

At least a 100 out of these 30,400+ views on this video are mine.
Can anyone explain to me why the shinsengumi doesn't go after Takasugi anti foreigner faction abut goes after katsuras
It's not that Shinsengumi doesn't go after Takasugi, it's just that Takasugi never showed up to Edo that much compare to Zura. Kihetai in general, never showed up compare Zura's Joui. Takasugi and Kihetai work under the radar, behind the curtain. Also, most of their doing's outside Edo (at least from the start). But Zura and Joui work more.. I don't know, diplomatic way?! He sure hates government, but he finds that there's should be a way to fix it. Because of that, he never leave Edo as much as Takasugi. And, he needs money, so he works at several places.
Also if you don't know, Zura's called "Runaway Kotaro", it's actually based on real life Japanese statesman of Meiji Restoration, Katsura Kogoro (Kido Takayoshi). He's also well known as "Runaway Kogoro". So the whole idea's that Zura's always able to run away from Shinsengumi, just like his real life counterpart.
@@cocoroach_ok oh thanks but it's not Zura it's Katsura!!!!
This anime is in a class of it's own and has no equal. I like to call it an OmniGenre anime bc it basically has everything that you could ask for in an anime. Yes there are also anime that are a more epic and funnier than this but no anime. And I mean no anime will go as far as this one has to get the best reactions out of the viewers. Unless you can name a single anime that is willing cross the lines that gintama has, it doesn't even deserve to be compared to this master piece.

r0kus Yea to watch gintama you need to have a strong patient level. I don't recommend watching it if you have no time to watch it and you want everything quick. Because believe it or not but most gintama episodes connect and if you skip one episode you might not get what is going on in the other.
Your advices in my opinion are dangerous. Gintama is the only anime i have dropped (in episode 35) out of the 97 i have watched including romance, drama, adventoure, sci-fi, mecha, horror, psycological and of course shonen. I claim that it is NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY WORTH IT to wait for some 6-episode arcs with actual plot-drama-twists IF YOU DONT REALLY ENJOY THE REST. Gintama main purpose are the comedy/parody moments. If for any reason (and there are many) someone doesn't really enjoy these then in my opinion it doesn't worth your time you spend waiting these arcs. On the other hand, if you enjoy Gintama's comedy/parody moments then these arcs will surely highrocket your expierience. BUT NO ONE should watch Gintama, BY ANY MEANSE, for the action-twist-drama moments and this is an opinion from someone who fell victim to it just because i trusted the ratings and didn't search more and because of that i didn't find found out that Gintama is mostly comedy/parody where plot-twists-drama happen once in a very long while.
In my opinion it is pure deception to talk about fight scenes and drama and twists and actual plot when mentioning Gintama because these elements are AT LEAST SECONDARY for the anime. THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS COMEDY/PARODY and only in the case that you come to enjoy Gintama's COMEDY/PARODY should you continue watching it.
That said, i encourage everyone to start watching Gintama to see if its their cup of tee, because truth being told, its really great for a lot of people, BUT TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION what i just said WHEN DECIDING TO CONTINUE OR NOT.
@@user-lg7lx7wp5t yeah. I think gintama is more for when you get tired of the heavy and dramatic stuff.
I love ur shinpachi parody in the beginning
I loved this review so much, why does it have only 4k veiws?
That's actually rather high for my usual numbers...
Grex wish you good luck with this!
Much appreciated.
I watched this review last month coz I was thinking whether I should try Gintama or not (Since I ran out of short action anime to watch) Heck I even went to many other review websites to convince myself. That time I was under impression that Gintama is pure plotless comedy. But after this review I thought ok maybe this anime has a complicated side. I rmbr that mention of the incompetent terrorist the most.
Started watching Gintama this month, 3 weeks in and now Gintama is totally my favourite haha It's a wonderful journey indeed. I learnt not to focus so much on action anime and instead comedy anime is quite enjoyable too. Plus it taught me to not to skip all its openings and endings (ever since I found out they put surprises inside sometimes and I agree the songs + visuals are really good) Furthermore, this is probably the only anime whose fillers I would not skip.
Just crossed the 100 episodes mark. Been a long time since I last committed myself to a long series but heck this is really worth it. So yeah anyone else who haven't watched Gintama I 100% recommend it. If the wonderful review video ain't enough to convince you I hope my comments here will.
Theresa Chu keep going..
Alip Azham I'm following the final arc now haha
Theresa Chu just wanna hear your opinion on SA arc..how was your experience with it
I started gintama completely unaware of what it was about, the plot, anything about the characters, etc... it was completely a chance meeting and one that changed my view on anime forever. I'm often asked what my favorite show is, and I have to explain that I rate some of my shows as a #0-10. The #0 spot is reserved for a show that I can not fairly compare to other shows, and that's where I place gintama. It's everything and anything and I feel I cannot compare it to any other comedy, or compare it to a show like demon slayer or even one piece. It deserves a spot of its own and forever be one of my all-time favorites. I think that how long it is, is personally part of its charm. it's characters are top tier and I cannot count the amount of times that I've laughed so hard I simply cried. i cannot recommend this enough- please watch for the comedy and be blown away by everything else.
I agree the budget really mess it I hope in the future they do a remake keep the soundtrack and voice actors but just redoing the animation and art
phenomenal review
*Yo, AMAZING NEWS JUST CAME OUT!!!!! Gintama is not ending just yet, but the finale for the Silver Soul Arc is coming up just around the corner.*

*YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONDAKE BOIS!!!!!!!!!!*
I'd like to add that while the animation in the first 200 eps is quite low-budget, they still have a lot of fun and creative fight choreography that with some exceptions beats most other shounen-animes I've seen
That review is great! You talk about things clearly and there's no unnecessary babbling (thank you, really), so the video is interesting and doesn't seem like a waste of time, like most of other reviews I've seen(not yours, just to be clear). I also really like the way you use the scenes and sounds.
If it's possible, I would love you to review Zankyou no Terror. I'm curious what would think of it:) [Subscribing and hoping...]
amazing, your reviews are some of the better written I've seen. any chance you could do one on Area 88? the 1980's OVA version.
Found your review after posting my own review of the show on R/gintama lol. Gotta say that you made me want to keep watching the anime. Because not gonna lie, the first 20 episodes of the anime is not nearly as clever as you make it out to be, I can't wait till it gets to the point where it starts being more clever.
*Oh it does, mate.* "Clever" is probably the *biggest understatement* that you could give Gintama.... but *ohhh boy,* just go at your own pace and you'll definitely see that *"Gintama Greatness."*
I don't know why but if you show me 2 or 3 seconds of every episode of Gintama, I can almost remember most of them vaguely or very well.
does anyone know where to watch the arc or episode of Gintama they mentioned while all of them where at the theater that deals with gin, katsura, sakamoto, and shinske like the flash back ep not about energy drinks but the legitimate one
I hated crunchyroll's footnotes to the references. If I didn't get the reference, the footnote didn't make it funny, and if I did get the reference, I would often feel distracted by the footnote itself, like explaining the joke. If ya get it, it makes the joke less funny, because explaining the joke is an easy way to kill the punchline, and if ya don't get it, more often than not it wasn't able to make its impact, so explaining it won't help either.
I can semi agree with the lack of growth thing, but by the Silver Soul arc, I did genuinely feel like the characters had grown in a way, though in baby steps spread of 360 episodes
I can also agree with the music for the most part. I didn't like ed 1 and 2, and just didn't care that much for op 3 and 7(they had their moments, but the songs weren't that memorable, maybe I just didn't like the band since those ops share a band).
Also I love most of Gintamas episodes, but the episodes in Season 3 were a bit iffy(mostly in the conclusion), and there are four episodes in the entire series that I just hate. I.E. the feigned illness arc, and the digital girlfriend arc
So stoked this is finally getting a western release/dub
It won't be a read the manga ending, they've confirmed more of the show!
Indeed! Rejoice!

It was expected but it's still amazing! Also, I won't say it if you don't want to be spoiled (it's a minor spoiler) but have you heard what the name of the final arc is?
Can anyone give me a complete guide..
warning, for those who assume gintama will funny as hell since first ep is big mistake, it takes maybe 5-10 ep to start getting funny
I really didn't mind the low budget...it still is a godamn funny show...I still laugh my ass off thinking about the toilet paper showdown, or the 300 million lottery ticket fiasco, or anytime the shogun showed up...it was always funny...
Watched all 368 episodes and it flew by
I've watched the entire thing but I barely remember anything ;-; gotta go rewatch it
I don't understand lot of japanese and anime reference, but it's still hilarious for me
It's surprising to me how little people have really given this show it's proper spotlight on youtube. Although I think you could have hit more of the positives of this show, which you noted, you did an amazing job. This show is incredibly complex so it's very difficult to properly put into words.
Perhaps if you used more specific examples from the show, or let the show speak for itself, it could have helped in justifying the creativity and cleverness of the show.
Do you mind doing an update on this review when the anime completes it's story?
I don't think that’s especially necessary. I already covered my general thoughts on Gintama’s drama here, and all the continuation really does is make my “read-the-manga ending” warning invalid, which is just another point in the series’ favor. I already gave Gintama my highest rating, so it’s not like that could go up. I will, however, say a few words on it in my seasonal roundup, whenever it finishes.
Here from King of Fighter AS and Gintama collab to get some info about this anime. Thank You!
Amazing review
Great review, although I think you could've left out a few of these scenes, like the one with the Joui 4 together :/
Gintama >
Just a guy spoiling gintama for new watchers
new season confirmed jan 9 2017!
Great review!
One beef, one fish is the the most awesome line, I want a kagura sister
Great review
i will be starting today!
The look I have when someone finally reviews a series that's been running for nearly a decade.
What I will remember from gintama that an assassin getting a medal of honour by the man he was supposed to kill
Could someone please point me in the direction of the ost that plays at 9:19? i have been searching for it for too damn long.
Also wonderful review.
edit: Found it
For future reference, I list the musical tracks I use (in order of appearance) at the bottom of the description.
Grex Yeah that's how I was able to find it. It just took some copy paste and google searches. Thanks for that man!
