"Fem-coded" is so weird. Like, they're not allowed to say men and women are different, but then why make different characters if they're the same? But at the same time, they demand representation of female characters. Its the kind of word born of cognitive dissonance.
so, are Femboys Fem-coded? would changing all women into femboys be woman friendly content? tbh i can't comprehend almost half of this gender related slang, like with previous +size cosplayer, going about fem- something, do i need to get a degree in gender studies to understand internet now?
This wasn't stupidity or an accident, it was a deliberate attempt to smear the developers for going against the woke agenda. And also part of a campaign of targeted racism. Look at what's been happening lately with Stellar Blade, AC: Shadows and now Wukong. They want to destroy Asian culture and Asian companies.
"We're still waiting for the developers to adress the sexist remarks" We're still waiting for IGN to adress the blatantly obvious disningenuous translation.
It's a trap. They want "fem" representation in every game so they can have something else to complain about, like "too sexualized" or "not fem enough."
True. And they'll never complain about men being s*xualised either - they'll gladly accept tall, big, muscular shirtless dudes in the media they consume
If there's no fem component, then there's no pretense they can exploit in order to take control of the IP's content. That pretense is vague and contradictory on purpose. It means there's no standard to satisfy. They act like they're here to solve a problem, but that problem doesn't exist, therefore they can stay in charge, by hopping from one issue to the next, forever. It's a manufactured forever-war.
I’m still blown away by how they say a virtual girl wearing revealing clothing in stellar blade is sexualizing women. But then they’ll turn around & say that it’s “empowering” when women do the same thing irl. Like, make it make sense.
I am a Chinese girl that bought a copy of this game for presale. I don't know about other places but for our school, we were required to read the original novel, "Journey to the West", which this game is based on. If they change the genders of some characters that are canonically male, I will actually refund my copy. Also, there were film adaptations of "Journey to the West" in Japan and Korea where they changed the genders a main character; those adaptation were very poorly received in China (one of them was rated 2.4/10 on a popular Chinese film review site with the lowest possible rating being 2/10 if I remember correctly.)
@@phreshxmetal "Journey to the West" (西游记) is one of the most famous books in China. "Journey to the West", "Outlaws of the Marsh", "Romance of the Three Kingdom", and "Dream of the Red Chamber" are referred to together as the 四大名著, which means the "Four Greatest Classics (of Chinese Literature)". This game is definitely heavily inspired by the characters (especially the enemies) and locations, but I think they will come up with a unique plot.
most journey to the west adaptations that japan changed the genders of the 4 travelers were almost all lewd, of course chinese people would be pissed, even one of the adaptation with the same genders are being turned into hot guys for no reason just to cater to female audience, it's kinda cringe to read for people who actually read the actual story
They'd have to admit they are wrong, something these types are vehemently against.

If they admit that the whole controversy is based on an intentional mistranslation then they will not be able to milk articles about the game until they find another Asian develop game to target. This is how they make money now, so they will not stop until it affects them financially.
Bro Americans don’t even care, let alone Chinese people or corporations 😂 The only one here that cares are a few people on the Internet that just wanna jump on the next virtue signal train, and the DEI hired activists working at these corpos.
The original plot of "Journey to the West," the source material for "Black Myth: Wukong," is about four monks traveling to the Western Heaven to retrieve scriptures, encountering various demons along the way. The game also features all sorts of animals and monks. However, IGN loudly exclaimed, "There's no female character in the game's demo!"🤣🤣
Wu Kong is a six-ear-macaque, one of the four spiritual primates that do not belong to any of the ten categories that all beings in the universe are classified under, so technically speaking it is an endangered species, which could be said Wu Kong can be consider as a minority.
Sigh being a female gamer can be frustrating at times because of clowns like this. Ultimately I only care about a game being fun, if you go in bearing some form of representation metric you're playing a game in bad faith and have no business playing it at all. As a chinese my only other hope is that they exhibit the culture authentically/show what makes the novel so beloved which I have 0 concerns about.
@@Quintessence4444 Making false statements that can damage someones reputation is defamation so if IGN decides to double down on their stupidity then they can definitely get slapped. Actually they probably already did double down by saying they're backing these "mistranslated" statements.
@@Quintessence4444 While it isn't illegal per say, I do hope there's grounds for suing if the article stays up. They could've feigned ignorance on that horrible mistranslation and taken down the article, however I do believe the translation and entire article itself is grounds for defamation as she makes many claims that have no viable proof or source, and are pulled right out of her ass. Then again given the difference in laws between countries i'm unsure if an international lawsuit would be possible, hopefully it would be though.
One thing to be noted is that in the original story, Wukong came out of a rock. Not sure if biology have distinction between female rock and male rock, but Waking is not gendered throughout the story, in which at the end Wukong became Buddha, which is also not gendered.
@@Mare_Man If we are being pedantic, the term would be better translated to chief/leader/head of gang, to refer to Wukong's status as the head/ruler of the monkey population. So the original term in Chinese is not really gendered. But honestly "monkey king" is a much more straightforward and more badass sounding than "monkey leader", and it is really not that off as a translation, so it is understandable that they go with this translation.
Yeah, as a native Chinese speaker, that first few lines are kinda like an equivalence of the dev told the hypers to "stop dickriding me and my team so hard" because he knew they still had to work hard to develop and improve the game as he pointed out lots of pitfalls at that time. It has absolutely no sexism undertone whatsoever. It might be inappropriate if he said that during a formal interview or press, but he simply just made a post on his own social media account. And he never brandishes himself as some moral role model that the IGN critics think they are.
1, Wukong was born from a stone, no gender, so it can be assumed to be one of any gender, belonging to LGBT+ ultimate gender form 2, Wukong was rasied by natural , no parents, is an orphan, belongs to the vulnerable group 3, Wukong is a monkey. including the six-ear macaque and other counts, there are a total of 4 in the world, belonging to the minority . 4, Wukong is also a animal, It should be protected by the international animal protection organization. 5, Wukong was once besieged by one hundred thousand heavenly soldiers, belongs to the war survivors 6, Wukong served to defeat Buddha, at least equivalent to a cardinal, belongs to religious people 7, Wukong served in Buddhism, Buddhism in the feudal period vegetarian, belongs to the vegetarian 8, Wukong lives in the flower and fruit Mountain, Is a primitive forest, perennial afforestation (construction of homes), belongs to the environmentalist 9, Wukong fight in a human world, belongs to the incomplete evolution of the disabled
No need to subject yourself to their insanity to prove a point. He is the "monkey king" not the "Nonbinary monkey of a monarchy". Just accept they are insane and continue with your normal life.
To elaborate on the "only 4 monkeys", there are apparently 4 celestial monkeys in Journey to the West that don't fit into any categories such as animal, deity, human etc. They are the Stone-Monkey of Numinous Wisdom (wukong), the Red-Buttocked Horse-Monkey, the Long-Armed Ape-Monkey, and the Six-Eared Macaque.
Its great marketing, really. I haven't heard of the game before this mess, I'm not even the target demographic for it, but now I'm buying it out of spite to support the devs that stood up for themselves instead of bending the knee.
@@laser__unicorn Absolutely same. I'm on Linux and so there's a hypothetical possibility that maybe I might not actually be able to play the game, but I'm still buying it just to support the dev team.
Clearly the correct thing to do, considering this is the first time I heard about this one year old "controversy" and when I was watching summer games fest reactions everyone I have seen was excited for the game. Not a single person gave a shit
I am a woman and people other than family and friends are always surprised I have a ps5 and love gaming. My current favorite is still DD2. I guess I'm on NG++++++ now. Developers shouldn't cave to the demands of others. How does she make herself the victim after all of the garbage she wrote? IGN should fire her and honestly just get rid of the media journalism portion of the company. The game reviewers and journalists seem in such conflict of each other leaving me really confused about that company. So much that I would like to see them in the same room and argue it out.
That miss translation is fkn insane. They completely turned a humble and humorous gentleman into a pervert. What kind of world are we living in? And she’s demanding this guy to apologize to her… man I can’t take this shit anymore
If non-English speakers did the exact same way of translating and applied it how Americans speak -- with the frequent use of words like "f*ck you", "b*tch", "kiss my *ss", and many others -- people would expect nothing but extreme degeneracy from them. Not exactly sure if IGN is extremely lazy, extremely dumb, or both. Maybe both.

As a Chinese, I feel very angry. This "reporter" is full of discrimination and arrogance towards Asians and Buddhism. Totally disrespectful to Asian culture and religion!

To add a bit context about the lead dev’s post as someone who speaks Chinese: he actually went out of his way to write the post that way, a funny limerick - every line in that post rhymes in Chinese! This is the kind of dev gamers dream of these days: dedicated to making games, having fun doing it, thoughtful and engaging in his communication with fans where his talent also shines through.
I find it extremely ironic that people who fight against cultural misappropriation can't translate a tweet without offending hundreds of thousands of users
These people DO cultural appropriation. Look at AC: Shadows, the whole game should be a celebration of Japanese culture and heritage and they made the main character a black guy. Then they failed to even put the correct Japanese characters on the merch they made.
@@MarkDeSade100 I'm pretty sure the black guy from AC: Shadows is a Japanese figure called Yasuke, a black samurai/retainer. I can see why Ubisoft decided to make him one of the protags as he does stand out in history. I don't really think making Yasuke a protag is that bad an idea, though; not very good at representing Japanese culture. About the Japanese characters on the merch, that's pretty bad.
Licking boots? Or are they want to lick something else, which can't be spelled appropiated on UA-cam without getting the comment shadowbanned? WIth those "Folks" nowadays, i can't be certain anymore.
So one of the mistranslations was basically, if i could interpret it easier here, "people were brownnosing/kissing my ass too much so its hard to hire people" and then the journalists were basically going, "the game is sexist cuz he said ass"
It was one of the common chinese ...well not quite idiom, but common saying, or slang, or meme. Yeah the chinese can be rather colourful and descriptive in the use of language.
It's like saying "This TV sucks!" and reporting it as "They expressed a desire that the TV have a mouth, so that they could insert their sexual organ into it and have the television pleasure them".
There is no way that any reasonable journalist would not look at these translated statements and assume that there might be something lost in translation, and that maybe they should consult a native speaker or two before publishing. In fact, I bet a traditional newspaper editor would demand it before they allowed it to reach print.
So Rebecca Valentine from IGN used Google to translate the developers native language, and then didn’t bother to run that translation by someone that actually speaks the language: she just went with it and published the most salacious crap. Sounds like great journalism to me!
@@RealBadGaming52 I don't know what she used to look like, but these days she looks like she's a nose piercing and pink hair dye away from screaming "ACAB" at her 15 cats.
Google translation did actually translate the words correctly, the literal words he said were indeed about being sucked off until he couldn't ejaculate anymore, but there's also strong context clues that you can use to understand what the sentence is actually talking about even if you don't speak chinese that she chose to ignore.
Games journalists haven't been games journalists for a very long time. Most of them are activists who got into games journalism to push their activism. They hate gaming and that's reflected in every article they write.

As a native mandarin speaker, I believe that using information gaps and language barriers to create bias and discrimination is absolutely shameful. There are many slang words on the Chinese Internet that are difficult for non-native speakers to understand, which may lead to prejudice and misunderstanding. Some people realize this and take advantage of this situation with ulterior motives

I have 2 questions for Rebekah: 1. She claimed she was told Game Science studio will have a statement for her. Give the name and position of the person who promised her the statement. 2. Rebekah claimed that it is TRUE there were several sexist comments made by the devs, then SHOW THE RECEIPTS! At this rate, she keeps crying wolf and no one will believe her or IGN.
1. It was probably something along the lines of her asking 100 questions about the meeting and the person responding told her that they will explain everything on site. Or maybe she used the same "translation" she used to find the sexist comments. 2. She will claim that the "harassment" that ensued after her false allegations is a proof of the sexist comments and also justifies her actions. It is typical strategy I punch you and if you retaliate it means you were always a violent brute so I was justified in punching you in the first place. Nothing will happen to her and at the game release she will write another hit piece using her previous slander as "established facts" to throw even more accusations.
Did she do any basic research on Journey to the West because lack of "fem-coded" characters bffr. Then again people like her expect creators to change age old material purely for the sake of diversity.
TBH if I ever had a slanderous hit piece like that printed about something I made I would absolutely be tempted to have them take the time to travel to me and then tell them to F off once they show up.
As a chinese, the first few lines about the erection thing is a "metaphor"...frankly speaking it's not a good metaphor since the language is not that appropriate, but it has nothing related to sexism (in mandarain there is a LOT of slang related to penis😅) Meanwhile it is NORMAL that the game contains little/none female characters since in the book JOURNEY TO THE WEST, none of the main characters are female cuz they are a group of monks. The only female characters in the book are either villagers they met or female yaoguai(monster) or female buddha.
Chinese representation* Edit: Black Myth Wukong is a video game inspired by the film 'Journey to the West' set in mythological China. Not Japan and Korea. Oriental culture is NOT representative of the whole Asia. I explicitly said 'Chinese representation' because the game takes place in mythological China. Not anywhere else. Because this version of monkey deity is of China's. I'm baffled by these name calling and insults out of nowhere. Tldr; wukong is NOT representative of the whole Asia. And so does AC Shadows. My culture doesn't have magical monkeys, dragons and ninjas. This is coming from an Asian. 🙃
Tbf the hit piece is from a year ago, so unless SBI said something along the lines of "there won't be more articles like that if you comply", which we currently have no proof of, then we can't say for sure that they were in cahoots in this instance. IGN is still grossly incompetent regardless though.
@MegaGlassguy exactly, which is why it should be an easy accusation to put to bed... I guess it makes it all the more ironic they are going after this dev for accusations as well and getting all bet out of shape when they are given no story. Which is to say, either it's their gross incompetence, or perhaps, where there is smoke there's fire.
Almost like if they lied about any link, it can be a liability in court. IGN 100% can get sued for defamation for this, but I doubt the devs even care to (honestly, why bother with these people)
They better be eating the gravy off these devs for allowing them to test the game. Most devs/publishers usually blacklist you for anything negative and IGN went as far as trying to defame them with lies.
The affected party is a chinese company, american courts are never going to let the game dev win and America would never let a ruling in a chinese court stick to an american company.
oh, they take it seriously. they wouldnt be trying this hard to paint things in the light theyre trying to paint them. the issue is, theyre creating false narratives and problems, making them sound like a much bigger deal and something the gaming community wants, in order to sway game developers to pander to said issues. which ofc means these studios will hire consultants like SBI. if youve seen older clips, you'll know the cycle. its a huge scam and i dont understand the end goal.
I agree, but at the same time that wouldn't make much sense. Game journalism is just following in the steps of regular journalists / media. The gov't (or the same dirt bags that also bribe our gov't) are the ones supporting the massive psyop known as the mainstream media, why would they turn around and attack gaming journalists doing the same schmutt? In fact if I were a betting man I'd say the same people are responsible for both.
Why does every game has to have an exact 50/50 split of male and female characters. Oh and also have some people of color mixed in. These people don't get that if you have one game that is primarily male characters and another game that is primarily female characters, you still get representation of both. Not every game has to be the perfect mix of genders/races/politics or whatever, and not every game has to be for everyone.
fun fact is "people of color" only apply for black people. They must not be a bad guy, or at least a guy that doesn't act cowardly or something. You can see a POS asian, latino, arab, or white in a video game but you never see a black guy that act like a POS.

Saying that one Game Science dev's comment on the social media Weibo (shown in 0:16), which really was just a humble self-reflection with sarcastic and vulgar tones, is like saying that some native English speaker using the F word in their comments automatically means they are sex addicts. This is how ridiculous and laughable IGN's narrative looks to many Chinese speakers.
I’m a Chinese woman. Hi used sex as metaphor. What he says in context make sense, but that doesn’t mean the way he is saying things is right. When I read his sentences, I felt so uncomfortable. Rarely people on the internet, especially someone known talk like this. Stop making excuses for him.
Oh God, why must they forcibly add a female character into a story about Buddhism? In the original work from 500 years ago, Wukong and his companions were all Buddhist monks. According to Buddhist precepts, monks are required to refrain from eating meat, getting married, and forming any friendships or romantic relationships with women. For monks, these things must be avoided; they are meant to practice in the temple for their entire lives. Forcibly adding a female character seriously violates Buddhist precepts and distorts the historical context of the original work. This would anger the 2 billion Buddhists around the world. Do they know what they are doing? No Buddhist would ever allow Wukong to have a friendship or a sexual relationship with a female character. This is incredibly offensive to Buddhism. They should come forward and apologize.
Sounds like it's a bastardized word based on femme fatale maybe? Except what they would view as femme fatale would be a fat and ugly thunder thighs monster as main character. Like we've seen in some other "games" recently.
basically femme presenting i.e trans etc. because all games must be inclusive these days. cant have a game that isnt inclusive, even if it means destroying what the game is just to have that inclusivity. cant wait for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. these dumbass journalists are gonna be so mad with that game...
This is why so many modern women and liberals act they way they do. They've never been in real world situations, they live an artificial life inside a bubble. Nothing but consume this then that then the next thing, living in a bubble of ideals that are alien to the rest of the world. People used to slap sense into people for a reason but now you go to jail. The softening of America. It's actually a bit sad.
Woke game/movie criteria checklist: 1. Every character in the game has to be black or black focused else there is no diversity. 2. Every face has to be ugly, and everybody have to be fat and short. 3. Women are allowed to sexually harass men but not the other way around. (Suicide Squad is an example) 4. Good and logical story plots don't matter as long as gender blender, person with disability and sex scenes are artificially/forcefully inserted into the story. (The Eternals is an example) 5. True cultural representation does not matter as long as woke culture takes over. The list goes on.
The google translate isn't translating the character 被. This character is used to indicate something happening in the passive sense. It's also totally mistranslating the word 勃起 to mean "erection", when in reality it means "to get excited" or be "enthusiastic". So the translation says "be praised as the saviour of the industry" is an active sentence, when he means it in a passive sense, i.e. it just happened without any additional input from him. A better translation would be "I wanted to expand my circle and hire more people, but they just kept kissing my arse to the point where I lost my enthusiasm. I wanted to be honest and release a small trailer, but I ended up being praised as the saviour of the industry."
What I love about the dev is he is fully committed to his job. Like he doesn’t want to make a statement or push some agenda, he just wants to make a good game.
What astonishes me is how some public figures or brands still have a platform. Take Logan Paul for example, films a dead body, scams millions of people, etc. Yet he still has a platform and is successful. Actions really don't have consequences anymore. What a time we live in.
There is a reason for this: Logan Paul will hit back. I dont like him, he's an asshole, but controversy fuels him and he has a very vocal and angry following that will hit back. And ask for money and compensations. People like IGN or Kotaku think a chinese studio wont hit back. That's the whole point. They only attack the ones they percieve to be weaker. They could be talking about the real problems in the industry, but the people with the big money bags would say "stop it or you will be cancelled next".
I’m gonna defend Logan, who I cannot stand, for a second. Japan’s culture is so messed up, they have a forest that people travel to in order to commit suicide. Japan tries to hide this, so media is not allowed to report on it. But they don’t want people to have a better work life balance, so they keep pushing people while the suicide rate stays higher than anywhere else in the world. And you think the fucked up part of that is Logan Paul exposing that forest to the world, because he filmed someone’s lifeless corpse? So you want the suicide forest to continue to stay under a media blackout? You want everyone to be forced to never show images of the terrible reality that is Japan’s suicide culture, or be censored? I just want to make sure we’re on the same page here.
Well, as Asmongold has said in the past, content is king. If you can still produce a product that people want to consume, they won't care. It's why companies like Amazon (for their treatment of warehouse workers), Nestle (for their incomprehensible destruction of the environment) and pretty much every major clothing brand (they outsource their work to other countries that practically use indentured servitude) still function. Affordable products that provide a boost to quality of life. Logan provides entertainment to people for free. You can say that him filming a dead body was bad, but think about all the people who aren't saying anything and thought it was funny.
Its wild that IGN did nothing about the blatant lies they told but expect Game Science to retract and apologize for statements that were warped by IGN themselves
Indeed, they are the enemy and are well-known in the original novel. But even if they weren't enemies, it wouldn't matter. In the eyes of SBI, being beautiful is a crime, isn't it?

The sad part, there's probably chinese people at IGN who can understand the original tweet but are too afraid to speak up cuz they'll probably get fired for appearing to support sexism.

I am Chinese, and after this issue arose, I attempted to find any discriminatory remarks or actions against women by "Game Science." However, I only found two relevant pieces of information. One is from a post by the founder on Weibo saying "licked to impotence," under which a female user expressed her discomfort with such remarks and stated she would not purchase the game in the future. Another user (not an employee of Game Science) countered that AAA games don't need female users. The other piece of information is an article published by the founder years ago, suggesting that games targeting male players should not overly consider female preferences. Additionally, there were some vulgar and sexually explicit elements in recruitment ads published by the founder many years ago. However, I did not see any direct insults or misogynistic remarks.
Oh they are villains alright. Just not super ones. The difference? PRESENTATION! Another thing to add is that I have always hated IGN since their ORAS review with the dumb reason of “Too much water.” They are literally Team Magma but worse.
How dare IGN still assume Wukong is a male? Wukong was born from a stone, Wukong does not have a gender, Wukong can be transformed into a male or female or anything, IGN should address Wukong using “THEY” pronoun 😅
There is technically a "female" Wukong in Psikyo's Gunbird shmup game. A red-haired woman whose close range attack is to extend forth a wood-colored pole.
As someone who read shitty manga and manhua translations on occasions, this 100% checks out. Sometimes meanings get lost in translation, and the actual translations make no sense whatsoever.
they really were doing this for clickbait and attention and were expecting the studio to response with anything but they didn't and IGN got heavy backlash so they went with victimhood as a defense
In fact, in the eyes of the Chinese people, Sun Wukong is a character full of resistance. He saves ordinary people who are suffering and resists those who have power and bad characters.

At this rate, she keeps crying wolf and no one will believe her or IGN.

She is just a liar.

They should come forward and apologize.
femme-coded? What even is that?
Sounds like yet another buzzword to me.
Sounds like it's a bastardized word based on femme fatale maybe? Except what they would view as femme fatale would be a fat and ugly thunder thighs monster as main character. Like we've seen in some other "games" recently.
Feminists making up stuff to be mad
basically femme presenting i.e trans etc. because all games must be inclusive these days. cant have a game that isnt inclusive, even if it means destroying what the game is just to have that inclusivity.
cant wait for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. these dumbass journalists are gonna be so mad with that game...
inseminated by a female cod fish
These people were never punched in the face and it shows
This is why so many modern women and liberals act they way they do.

IGN: We need more women in videogames!
*Stellar Blade exists*
IGN: Not like that!!
they mean self-insert woman, the ugly one
Ah, the IGNorant wanted the BALOONNED women to FLOAT in space that is
*ign: we need more UGLY women in games
They only want ugly/masculine women
Woke game/movie criteria checklist:
1. Every character in the game has to be black or black focused else there is no diversity.
2. Every face has to be ugly, and everybody have to be fat and short.
3. Women are allowed to sexually harass men but not the other way around. (Suicide Squad is an example)
4. Good and logical story plots don't matter as long as gender blender, person with disability and sex scenes are artificially/forcefully inserted into the story. (The Eternals is an example)
@@VicStrange9 yeah, you missed the parallel completely...
Don't forget the fact that he's basically marrying if not already married to a toilet
Just a woman enjoying Black Myth Wukong here.
Its wild that IGN did nothing about the blatant lies they told but expect Game Science to retract and apologize for statements that were warped by IGN themselves
There's literally spider demon girls in one of the trailers, but I guess we don't count that as representation because they're probably enemies
And hot
Just like real women
Well, they don't count that as representation because they don't understand how reality works to be exact.
@@hellraisermaskWhat they think anyways to be clear.
Indeed, they are the enemy and are well-known in the original novel. But even if they weren't enemies, it wouldn't matter. In the eyes of SBI, being beautiful is a crime, isn't it?
lol ign translated this on google translate, it said the same thing but when I translated it on chatgpt, aria, and some other traslation websites all of them got a more professional translation and nothing indecent. moral of the story is google translate is the worst translation thing in the world.

"We're still waiting for IGN to go bankrupt."
Let's all be thankful these people probably never even read the original Journey to the West book, otherwise they might call Wukong trans or bisexual because he transformed into human woman several times
The editor's IQ must be quite large to juggle all the information he does in that noggin.
Sexism in a game based on a centuries-old novel set in a medieval Chinese fantasy setting? Right...
Wukong slaying demons irl😂
The sad part, there's probably chinese people at IGN who can understand the original tweet but are too afraid to speak up cuz they'll probably get fired for appearing to support sexism.
Minorities only and opinons of minorities only matter to them when they support thae narrative. Thats how it works with them.
Nah they're all white and colored hairs
I'd actually wager they don't. Despite screaming at the hilltops for DEI everywhere else, I guarantee you the staff make-up is 90% White, hyper-liberal women (who are straight by any sort of metric you wanna use, but call themselves "queer" anyway)

Cant spell ignorance without Ign 💀
I wasn't going to buy Black Myth at first but IGN convinced me to get the deluxe edition.
The monkey can never just be left alone 😞
I've seen quite a few Chinese girl gamers excited about the game though. They were excited for the same things guy gamers were, they don't care about this "fem-coded" nonsense.
Story is also based on an Ancient Chinese mythology story "Journey to The West", which is a story about a bunch of dudes traveling (to India) to find ancient Buddhist scriptures. Indecently the name of the main character Sun Wukong, The Monkey King, is what the the character "Son Goku" is based on from Dragonball (which is its Japanese pronunciation).
That sounds like Hanuman, the monkey deity of India.
They are going to Nepal, and historically India was just a geographical name
Just wanted to mention that you said "indecently" when I think you meant "incidentally." Indecently means inappropriately or rudely.
If they had their way with it, they would gender switch at least one of those characters just for the sake of doing it
@@KingMinishit has been a long time since I read the story I think wukong and his crew transformed to woman at one point and bugs and many other things. This is as diverse as a game can be😂
Reject games journalism, embrace monke.
Let's not talk about micro-transactions, season passes, paid early access, pay to win loot boxes, unfinished games with $70 price tags, publishers pushing profits over quality of content at the expense of the consumer even if it shuts down successful game dev studios.
Nope. Not enough women in games is the problem in the gaming industry. Fucking nailed it.
This is why translation is a *profession* and translators are *professionals*. People, especially journalists and decision makers, need stop thinking that machine translation is good enough. Machine translation will never be good enough.
Tell that to the people fed up with mistranslations in their anime or manga who are desperate enough to give AI a turn.
@takatamiyagawa5688 those mistranslators aren't acting professionally.
Yeah, anyone who thinks google translate does a good job with Brazilian Portuguese is in for a surprise. it's wrong a lot of the time!
@Interdimensional-CableTV you would never use anything without letting a human check first though wouldnt you?
@Interdimensional-CableTV Agents meaning humans? If so you should still support the original comment who simply stated the necessity of the human factor in important translations. We wouldnt want to start a war because one guy thought that machine translation would be good enough... xD
I‘m calling it: Asmongolds editor will be making a CoffeeZilla type UA-cam pretty soon where he will take apart all sorts of people and I am all here for it. LOL
He would eviscerated them. 😂
Correction: Game journalism is dead. Journalism as a whole is dying
The "translation" makes sense in the context that it was not a translation, but a localization. They just see what they want to see.
No, that's not what localization is. This was most definitely a mistranslation .
So IGN effs up, blames the devs for not responding, AND they STILL haven’t pulled the article? Who do these people think they are?
However, I did not see any direct insults or misogynistic remarks.
ign are the villains
@Mageman17
Who gives a shyt what fux gender the monkey thing is?
Wukong was born from a stone ? Tell me more please
Cause they think Wukong is Goku.
Please don't give them ideas
As someone who read shitty manga and manhua translations on occasions, this 100% checks out.
Sometimes meanings get lost in translation, and the actual translations make no sense whatsoever.
Places like IGN & Kotaku should not be taken seriously nowadays...

In fact, in the eyes of the Chinese people, Sun Wukong is a character full of resistance. He saves ordinary people who are suffering and resists those who have power and bad characters. Sun Wukong is not because ING has become so just, but because it is already like this, and,Sun Wukong's first line of dialogue every time he saves the weak is: "Hi brother, you should have endured immense injustice.
