UA-cam will let thinly veiled NSFW ads onto their homepage for millions to see, but when somebody installs Adblocker or a similiar program THAT’S when a sin has been committed. UA-cam’s priorities are so severely skewed it’s insane. They let bad behavior proliferate because it makes them pennies but attack normal users trying to avoid that bad behavior.
its also really bad for children, I do not trust UA-cam algorithms to play ads for children that'll probably promote very sketchy apps or potentially nsfw content if they go into a rabbit hole. I really wish the best for any parent raising a kid in these predatory times with the internet being inescapable.
I had an argument because someone tried to tell me that those ads are "personalized based on traffic". I always turn off that personalization no matter what and I don't keep my history for very long, how the fuck is this nsfw shit personalized???
What's crazy to me is that in addition to their attack on ad blockers they have at the same time made ads more annoying. They're now longer, the skip button often now has a longer delay before being available, you might have an ad with a 30 second countdown and think "great, I can watch the video in 30 seconds" but then when that ad finishes we get a second 30 second ad. It's also often the same ads over and over again and advertisers that design ads for online platforms tend to subscribe to the "make it annoying and people will remember it" method
absolutely!! I occasionally go to yt on my switch to listen to music, and have a minute of unskippable ads. makes me wanna throw my switch out the window
I just clicked on an 8 minute video, got 2 ads to start, clicked to the middle, instantly another ad. I instantly paused, copied the URL, and went over to a browser which actually works.
UA-cam needs to be taken to court over the fact that they don’t actually check anything they advertise. They regularly have ads that are social security scams, nsfw virus shit, etc. why are they not responsible for those who get scammed?
Imagine how many people have set up adblock on their grandparents devices for this reason alone since thats the demographic most likely to fall for these kinds of scams. And youtube has no system in place to prevent these ads in the first place and instead rely soley on a report based system which means millions could have seen the ads before action has been taken. Its even worse on Facebook where atleast half of the ads i see on that site seem to be somekind of scam or bogus product.
That won’t work unfortunately. UA-cam is an internet titan. If you do that they will run you out of town with the best lawyers possible and possibly drain you financially. And they know it.
Fun fact: even the literal FBI recommends people to use ad blockers because of how often ads are used to commit identity theft and other digital crimes. UA-cam and Twitch would rather put their users at risk than lose a tiny bit of money from adblockers.
I think the reason they're really cracking down on it now is because of profits, specifically their investors. I heard from somewhere that they need to keep growing to keep their investors happy, but because UA-cam is practically EVERYWHERE already, they have to find others ways to continue profiting. Take this with a massive clump of salt because I dont even remember where I heard this.
The funniest thing is, that even demonetized videos have tons of ads. So the youtuber gets no money, but the viewers still have to sit through the same ads as any monetized video.
I love it when UA-cam advertises actual NSFW scam shit and has the audacity to actively antagonize anyone who is using an ad blocker to avoid getting viruses. It's especially awful given how fucking frequent ads show up today. The Adpocalypse looks like paradise in comparison to today.
I started using an adblocker because of the CONSTANT gambling ads that I started getting once I turned 18. I have never been interesting in gambling and it was disturbing to see one ad calling out to gamblers who wanted to "find that flutter feeling". It's just insane to me that ads can so blatantly target addicts like that, its like they don't care for anyone's well-being as long as they get money out of them
I know Google has options to limit gambling and alcohol ads, but let me tell you the one for alcohol does not work. I wish they'd let me limit car ads; I don't even have a license, gdi
Well, turning 18 has few perks, and minuses... You loose the attention of PDFs but you gain the attention of Phub-like corpos: "Mmhm fresh blood. Wanna get boned on a hub-like site or waste your life away gambling? Depending on your gender 🙃"
the fact that ads on when watching on xbox can last over a minute with 5 unskipable ads and then once you skip the ad it immediately gives you ANOTHER AD even though you just skipped one is actually insane.
If ublock gets blocked, the devs get an update out hours to a day after. When Google rolled out server side ads as a test, ublock devs went "okay, bet" and in like a week, those ads were blocked.
like how Kira wrote secret messages in prisoners' suicide notes as a test, and L went "okay, bet" and gave him a fake 4th message when they talked about the Kira case
Well if people just watched the ads to start off with you would have the old small ads but because less people see it they need to get more bang out of those who see it.
Having 2 unskippable ads before a livestream is crazy, the audacity UA-cam have to hunt people who use adblockers when they don't do anything on literally anything else
tbh they can hunt me all they want I'll just stop using the platform if they try and take action against me. It's already a huge time waster as it is, it's probably exactly what I need lol.
"It is not possible to use the internet without an adblock"- as someone who was adblock illiterate until just recently.... my experience with finally discovering adblock can be likened to when ancient humans discovered fire. There's no going back. I'll never go back to those dark days of being bombarded with ads ever again.
I grew up in the days of old where your bandwith was slow AF and limited and so many ads started playing audio/video as well as having drop downs which hog the screen and cover the GTA3 cheat codes you are looking for with bright flashy shit to trigger siezures while installing dozens of viruses on your machine. The moment I learned adblock existed I grabbed it without mercy.
I want some big creator to make a 20 minute compilation of all the worst ads that get put on this platform (as well as all the links from each ad in the description) and see how long it takes for the video to get taken down. That appeal process would be the best shit to watch.
security in general, along with support for some websites. depending on how old your chrome version is, it could lack some security features, or break some websites - besides that, no ads is great lol, though id still prefer an adblocker be cause they let you autodecline cookies and popups and such@@barslars6038
The three most annoying things are: - The majority of ads don't interest me at all! - Many yt ads sound like a scam - The audio volume increasing suddenly, with the potential too suffer hearing damage when wearing headphones...
That's the worst, actually. Decades ago federal law banned TV commercials from being above the volume of the TV by a fixed decibel rate. It passed with full bipartisan support. They need to do the same for internet advertising
I thought I was the only one who noticed this! I could have my volume all the way up on a video and it still sound quiet, but as soon as an ad plays the volume doubles.
Using YT in Russia was the best experience I’ve had with YT(until the government decided to artificially slow it down so people are forced to use their video platforms)
@@kirabad-artist6532we got GoodbyeDPI so it's still the best experience, no ads since February 2022, I forgot how disturbing it is to actually watch an advertisement, weird flex but yeah lmao
They tru so hard to makes us actually care about advertisements when most of us are actually just saying “i dont care” or “omg go away” when an ad plays
fr, it's so fcking annoying to open a comment thread with the first 2 comments being fcking bots. It's the same thing as charlie mentioned with ads, I just click off the comment thread
Good to know UA-cam won’t do a thing about one creator posting another’s address online for millions of Instagram followers but the moment people start blocking ads it’s a code red and they go into immediate damage repair.
You know what I hate more than being forced to watch ads? Scam ads and malicious ads that are shoved down my throat by an ad company that cannot regulate itself properly.
Fr, youtubers get demonitized if they say ,,fuck" but you can get redirected directly to Porn Sites *and / or* have viruses and scams advertized by an AI Voice and that's fine and dandy according to the YT CEO
I clicked a google ad once that blackscreened and froze my computer, couldn't use task manager or any windows commands. had to force shutdown, restart. I will never not use adblock. It would be like unprotected sex with a hooker if I didn't. I will script and ad block till I die. OR I will just not use the internet.
Trying to use the Fandom site is by far one of the worst experiences with ads you can get. You try looking up a small tidbit of info about something and you get an automatic video ad playing while following the page as you scroll, several other banner ads to the side, another pop up that will slide into view, and just overall jittery usage because of them. And god forbid you try using the site on mobile, can feel almost unusable sometimes.
protop for fandom wikis- change fandom in the url to 'breezewiki' We shouldn't need to do this but it's helped a lot for me when checking game info on my phone
i'm a totally blind user and with a screen reader and ads, youtube is unusable without premium. half the time i couldnt find the skip ad button, and half the time the refreshing of the page to display the ad would confuse the screen reader cursor so i'd be lost
Right now ads have their own streams, but once UA-cam will have ads into the same video stream as the main video, we won't really be able to block ads anymore.
i remember when you used to get 1 ad at the end of a video along with a little banner that you could just close with a single click, and then it turned into ads in the middle and start of the video along with the before mentioned ads, and then it turned into 2 ads, and now this, also the most annoying part with twitch is that its like 3-5 30 second unskipable ads, but that you can still see the stream in the corner while all the audio is muted and you have no idea whats actually happening in the stream
I can't wait to be in the middle of following a DIY or cooking recipe where I need to occassionally pause. I can see it now. Detailed instruction > pause > ad > forget what the instruction was due to ad > rewind > rewatch > pause > pause ad > forget again > repeat until exhaustion or kitchen fire has occured.
I have Premium ONLY because I'm a recovering alcoholic and constantly being shown ads for alcohol was a living hell. YT sucks. I miss the days where when one site started to suck, a new and better one popped up. YT is greedy af and they don't care about its users.
I agree with you. 5-10 min of ads to watch a video is making it unusable. The whole internet is becoming unusable with ads. So many websites make you disable your adblock to see the article.
Just goes to show how people are inherently selfish. UA-cam is owned by Google. Do you pay for Google searches? Do you pay to watch UA-cam videos? Do you pay to upload UA-cam videos? How about Google make an update so it costs you 50 cents for each minute of video you upload? Maybe you'll prefer that type of business model then.
@@azurelava7796 These are bad examples. Google has time and time again proven that they''re not the most trustworthy search engine. They sell your personal data and search history left and right. If companies want to appear on the first page of your google search they have to pay for the search ranking. This is especially important for startups. People make content and upload it to youtube and you suggest that they should even pay for that? UA-cam's business model revolves around people making content in their free time. If nobody made content there'd be no UA-cam and we wouldn't even have this conversation.
TV UA-cam is worse. I keep getting 50 second unskippable ads, and it's starting to look like actual Television where you get 15 minutes of advertisements nonstop between broadcasts.
I was watching War of worlds 2005 on my TV. I got around 8-10 minutes between ads. Oh and the THE BROADCAST WILL CONTINHE AFTER ONLY ONE AD. Tge ad being 40 seconds long
I don't mind 30 second ads but pretty often I get a full 30 minute to 2 hour long show as ads sometimes from PragerU or one of their affiliates. I'm not going to watch that much of another thing in the middle of a video I'm awake for. I often play a music playlist when I go to sleep and they could slip in a two hour video then while I'm unconscious but not when I'm awake.
OMG yes. I was recently pet sitting at a friend's house, didn't have my PC with me so watched some YT on her TV. I was appalled at how bad it was compared to on my PC
They do something disgusting now where they make you watch 1-2 mins of ads "instead of more adbreaks" in a longer video, except they run the same number of breaks as before, so it has just skyrocketed.
What makes it worse is that even the “do not see this ad anymore” button is that it doesnt even work. I see the same temu ads and native ads pop up even after hitting that button several times
Ublock is open source, so as they adapt their intrusive ads, anyone can help ublock to make it stronger and continue the arms race. It's possible that the further youtube pushes these intrusive ads the harder it will be for them to return to user friendly ads due to the growing number of people using adblockers. Everyone has a certain tolerance for ads, and the more intrusive the ads become the more they incentivize using ad block. Once a user is using an ad blocker there aren't any real incentives to turn it off since it completely nullifies the inconvenience of ads. If average "ad tolerance" is at 3/10 and they kick their ads up to a 7/10, more people will force a 0/10 ad experience (ad block), and trying to get people to go back will be hard even if they dial back their intensity to a 2 or 1 since the user would be giving up their ad free experience. UA-cam's current method of dissuasion seem to have a cobra effect, and by doubling down there is potential that they will lose more users to adblockers. It's difficult to predict how many ad block users would be willing to switch back without good reason to, and the longer they try to push the more intrusive ads the worse the chances of regaining their "lost" users becomes.
It's possible that's why youtube has decided to double down on trying to fight ad block. Increasing the barrier of entry for adblockers means less are able to use their blockers effectively, however that's assuming they don't accidentally completely drive away their users. Despite having deep pockets and google on their side, competitors providing a service similar to youtube's but without or with minimal ads could end up threatening their hold over their users and is not completely out of the question (why do you think people joke about going back to cable... given the right circumstances the joke could end up becoming reality and may already be so for a percentage of the userbase!)
I've been using Firefox and ublock for ages and when they rolled out this "adblocks are against tos" bullshit, I've told several friends about unlock and they all switched. Not only are UA-cam's ways turning people towards better adblocks, they're also turning people away from their mother companies product, Google Chrome, it's quite funny to me and is a sign of a failing company that stopped trying to improve and started trying to milk
I sometimes watch videos on my consoles whenever I’m not on my PC. Looking over to see a 50 second “long ad”. They’re unskipable. I genuinely feel like I’m watching cable again
Yes, thats the model they would like to get back to. With you having as little choice as possible. The censorship is still the most insidious part of this platform though.
Yess thisss I swear the ads are triple as long compared to a phone and also a thing noticed on console is that you can skip and ad to another ad if you didn’t like that one 😐
@@SecretMarsupial and Google rolling out Manifest V3 soon as well, meaning most adblockers lose a good chunk of their functionality on chromium based browsers, you can see what they're trying, thank god i'm on firefox with ublock origins.
Another thing to consider is people who are on limited data plans. The ads use quite a chunk of that data. Especially some of the news websites that are loaded with ads. Adblockers are absolutely necessary.
Adding to this! Unlike normal yt vids, you can't adjust the quality playback of ads. So if it's like a 4K resolution ad. You gotta watch it in its full quality.
sometimes I'll be watching UA-cam on cellular data on a car ride or a road trip and we'll pass through a spot with garbage cell service, so I just turn the video quality down ! but the stupid ads still play at full resolution, I had an ad load for 4 minutes once. Why can't UA-cam detect the ad is taking forever to load and lower the quality or stop serving the ad?
I completely agree. And the other half of the problem is that half of these ads that are being shoved down your throat are literal scams or NSFW. God forbid you tap on one on accident your device will probably get instantly infected with 17 different pieces of malware.
I got ads for a mobile game that's falsely advertising using footage of a pornographic *VORE* game in its ad. I'm genuinely flabbergasted watching a pixelated girl get her clothing blasted off and then being eaten by something. What the fuck man, I'm leaving this site if I can't use adblock.
The only way that I’ll even consider getting rid of ad blocker is if youtube: •Stops hosting scam and NSFW ads •Deplatform creators that promote scam and/or NSFW content (especially to kids) I dont want to give ad money to a company with little to no morals
I can't even say the word "Courage" 🦁 instead of "Shiny" to surf the web without my comment getting deleted. Check out "Courage" instead of "Shiny". A-B is built in.
Dude, you are so on the ball with this. I had the misfortune of having to access UA-cam via TV for a couple of months, so no ad blocker. It sucked big time and more often than not, I quit watching the video I clicked on because I wasn't prepared to sit through multiple 60 seconds of ads to watch an 8 minute long vid. Hell, I don't even remember what any of those ads were for, which shows how ineffective they actually are. YT has become it's own worst enemy. Without ad block, I would probably walk away from the platform altogether.
Honestly though. I have a TV downstairs but I just can't watch youtube on it at all. It is genuinely the worst experience I've ever had. The ads are just insane, constant, and terrible.
@@mr420quickscops2 It was getting like that by the end of the couple of months. I guess the longer you watch YT on TV, the longer and more frequent the ads get.
hey tips for yall! when ads play on ur tv, click on the information (the i in the circle thing) and click on not show this ad again, and return to video! hope this helps!
@@alex_da_neko Unfortunately, I was only able to do that for around 15 advertisements. After that the info button completely vanished and I only had the option to directly open the ad. Which sucks because I did it to all the regular legit ads, and then got only Elon Musk crypto scam videos and was unable to report them
I keep getting fed the same "Vote No On Measure Z" ad that makes it through my adblocker (I probably just need to reboot). Previously apolitical, I will now be marching through the streets with a megaphone and posters for "Voting YES on Measure Z".
If your allover is ublock origin, right click on the ad and select "block element". If you're on your phone and using ublock origin, tap the menu button next to the address bar, select extensions, select ublock, tap the eyedropper tool, and tap whatever you want to block.
UA-cam staff spending weeks of resources on coding to get around or "discourage" adblocks only to see any progress they make get invalidated within minutes by a group of amateurs will forever bring me joy
The most ridiculous part is: youtube has a special player for kids. Like some videos are flagged as content for kids and have some features blocked. And still these videos get ads for like casinos or fake game apps or adult products. Like… YOU KNOW ITS FOR KIDS…. WHAT ??? And the audacity that you want to watch like a 1 minute clip and could end up watching 30 seconds of ads is wild. Also the fucking lie of „ oh the ads finance our platform and pay the creators“ Yeah sure, its not by coincidence so you make a huge profit of the platform
Well for some reason, the issue when they had that big fine from the FTC was that they were gathering info on them to give targeted ads, not that they were advertising to kids in general, which means that they now just don't give personalized ads to those videos... So on one hand they don't promote things that children might buy, on the other they now give them general ads, which could be anything, even things not safe for kids knowing UA-cam's lax advertisement regulation. Funnily enough I think that's worse overall then just giving targeted ads, and realistically they shouldn't be allowed to advertise to children at all(well to the best of they're ability anyway)
The funniest thing is when instead of ads you get "surveys", and then you get asked by youtube:"how has your experience with ads been as of late?" HOW DO THEY EXPECT ANYONE TO SERIOUSLY ANSWER ANYTHING OTHER THAN "HORRIBLE"
It's worse when you try to skip the survey without answering. They usually throw a prompt up at me wanting me to answer the survey, and the only way to get past the survey is to select an answer. Literally happens every.single.time.
The harder they push unskippable ads the more ppl push back 1 Skippable Ads you can cope with but when i started getting unskippable ads that's when i decided to research how to block ads on both browser and mobile UA-cam, now they're doing double unskippable ads
@@lemagicbaguette1917 Indeed they do. I use a mirror site of UA-cam, its the exact same as youtube just with no ads and sadly the creators gets 0 benefit from me watching, but that is what UA-cam has forced me to do. If i remove adblock i get 40 fake mrbeast ads and if you accidentally click one while scrolling you can get your info stolen. I started using mirror sites for everything, free netflix, youtube without ads etc, free UFC fights.
they're not even really that bad. i'll sumtimes sit with the tv on and usually its 2 30-60 sec ads, then 15-30 minutes of no ads, depending on what channel ur on and what ur watching
@@AngelDustIsSus i agree and the times you get like 6 30 second ads there is always a next button after the first ad that skips you to the last add with a skip button ontop of it
I put up with UA-cam ads until about 5 months ago. What got me on adblocking UA-cam? Them spiking the amount of ads. Now they dont make any ad money off me. Genius UA-cam you got greedy and tried to get more and instead ended up getting nothing
5 years ago youtube changed ads to show twice instead of only one ad. if they would’ve just stopped tinkering with the ads system there would be way less cases of adblock being used on their site.
@@ggregg2667 I WAS just too lazy to get an ad block because I thought, it's just an ad I can wait a bit, then double ads and weird/nsfw ads kept showing up so I decided to get ublock. I probably would have kept on not using an Adblock if there weren't those suggestive ads
@@ggregg2667yeah possibly, the the feeling to have to do that would be a lot less considering 1 skippable ad is literally 5 seconds vs the 15 second un-skippable ad PLUS the 5 second skippable ad.
UA-cam is becoming like commercial cable TV. Was at a hotel the other day, and tried watching a movie; Every 5 minutes like 10 ads played... I got through about 20 minutes of the movie and gave up, just turned it off, and sat in silence 💀
Welcome to the digital distribution future. Our grandkids' minds will boggle at how we were able to stick in a blue ray and watch the entire movie without a single interruption.
@@goodlookinouthomie1757 I agree and still buy physical media for anything I intend to watch again, but even some BDs come with "mandatory" ads like unskippable studio cards and (usually skippable) trailers before it will show you the menu; I think each movie in my Avengers collection takes 60-90 seconds to get to their respective menus while mashing the Skip button. If your BD player is internet-enabled, it will even download new trailers before you can do anything. This for a movie/show you've *purchased to own*. Like I said, I'll still go physical so I have my own local copy, but even low-form ads (like trailers on a disc) are everywhere.
@@UziMusic Disney was the worst for this, tons of unskippable ads before the movie would play ON A DISK YOU PAID MONEY FOR! But at least they didn't pop in to interrupt the middle of the film...
When you stop watching a video and come back to it later, it plays another ad. Watching a 10 minute video in pieces of 30 seconds is gonna give you 21 ads. Probably all 2 ads, so actually 42 ads on a 10 minute video. Doing that would be stupid, but its proving a point.
Yall remember back in the day the only ad we would get was that little rectangle at the bottom that you just had to X out . Now we have unskippable ads and ads even when the video is paused
I'll do you one better. I remember back in the day when the only ad you'd get was a little rectangle on the side or top of the page you didn't even have to bother Xing out of, because it stayed unobtrusively in its place. Hell, sometimes they even made a site feel more lively. Funnily how the vast majority of people didn't feel the need to run adblockers in those days 🤔
I know nobody at UA-cam HQ will see my comment, but you bring up a good point about skippable vs. unskippable ads. If I am forced to watch an ad that I don't want to see, I will go out of my way to ensure that I never purchase that company's products or services ever again.
Here Here. I refuse to use the services or products of any company that basically grapes me with ads (as in I do not have a choice but must accept the ad)
Ads have always been extremely intrusive. I've been using adblockers since 2007 and I absolutely refuse to browse the internet without them. If a website tries to force me to disable my adblockers, I won't use it.
any time i find an article somewhat related to what i was looking for and i go to the article and it says i have to turn off ad blocker, 99 times out of 100 the article doesnt end up helping me anyways and disabling ad blocker is just a waste of time
100% agree, if they cant take adblock, the site is fishy. The funny thing is i watch alot of ads on the internet, the ones I chose cause i really wanna buy that lol
In EU they're not allowed to scan your computer and know whenever you're using an ad blocker or not, yet... they still do it, violating RODO and getting our personal data. They should be taken to the court
If blocking ads violates the terms, why do they allow malicious ads? It's not enough to know everything and sell to third parties, now you have to accept receiving proposals from scammers.
They also made sure that you can skip not 2 but 1 advertisement with the button 'Skip Ad.' And if you are watching a UA-cam video that lasts for about an hour and a half, an advertisement suddenly appears without you being warned with the text 'Ad will appear in ... seconds'.
As a guy with sensitive hearing, sometimes ads (not literally) blow up my ear drums, I literally had to move to twitch while my ad blocker wasn't working just to not get my ears destroyed since I can't auto mute ads without muting the video itself, I wouldn't even mind ads taking my time itself but the sound, I can't take it
get uBlock Origin. Works on Firefox and Chrome, and blocks UA-cam ads completely, ignoring the anti-adblock popup and an ad-sized "delay" before the video starts playing.
My biggest problem with youtube ads. 1. The volume increase. 2. The fact that a 30 seconds ad can be easily 10minutes plus if you dont constantly press skip...
the fact that my ublock counter goes up steadily while watching this video is a constant reminder how close i am to never using youtube again if this adblocker stops working.
Just quickly pulled this from Ublock Blocked since install8.849M This is insane, I admit been using it for probably a good few years, but even in the span of a few seconds on the same youtbue tab, I have gone up like by 5.
@@lukepenny8601 honestly i just exit youtube alot of the time now. if the content isnt extremely gripping then its not worth dealing with ads, so i'll just go play games or read a book. no ads there.
What I’ve noticed with my AdBlock is that it won’t give me the popup that I have AdBlock, what it’ll do is play the ad anyway, but take away the skip button so I can’t do anything unless I pause my AdBlock. Outside of my computer, the ads have gotten so bad, especially on my TV, where ads can be anywhere from 30 seconds to a few MINUTES long and make you wait upwards of 50 SECONDS just to skip them.. And it’ll tell you “Fewer ad breaks for this longer video” and then still send you 3 more minutes of unskippable ads in 5 minutes
I love that UA-cam is spending resources, time and money on ad-blockers, while literally millions of people are circumventing and breaking the ad system patch after patch for sport. I don't think I've seen an ad on UA-cam in over two years.
@@postalatom256 the thing is, its barely any effort (unless you're talking about the people making these adblockers but even then youtube is putting way more effort into this and atp i think these coders got used to it) Premium, however, costs 12 dollars, which is also 55 ron for me. That is a lot just for better quality and no ads when i can just get all those for free
I’m okay with watching an ad here and there, no problem. I’m getting fed 30-50 second unskippable ads every 3 mins and they expect me to not find a way to block them. Genuinely sickening. EDIT: ALSO creators have ads inside the video, that’s more ads I have to watch!
its crazy. idk i notice a huge increase in ads at the start of the summer. I do long road trip i listen to longer vids. I was fine with ads because even in 1-3 hour vids they would be spaced good. Now if i watch any vid longer than 25 minutes its like i get an ad every 3-5 minutes.
Yeah..I really don't get their reasoning... If they wouldn't make their ads so unbearably long and annoying, people wouldn't bother as much with completely avoiding them. Having less ads would also make every individual one more valuable.
I haven’t experienced this personally but I’ve seen ads that are over an hour long, they’re getting fuckin ridiculous Thankfully I’m freeloading off of my family’s yt premium so I don’t have to deal with any of this but that’s not an option for everyone
brother. i will visit a website once, and get ads for them for goddamn weeks. UA-cam has mastered the process of getting me to hate a brand for life by shoving it in my face endlessly.
Yeah, me getting UA-cam premium was definitely the best thing I did for companies. I keep a list of companies with unskippable ads to never interact with.
Correct. penquinz0 not a business person, but if he was he could ad that UA-cam fundamentally does not understand business, management, or marketing. It makes sense, it is an engineering based company that would never hire a professional manager to operate it. UA-cam hates *ALL* of it's customers: consumers, content creators, so contributors of all types. But the engineers there ALSO hate the advertisers, the ad-servers, and the ad blockers. It makes sense, engineers, in general, dislike all of humanity. One thing is sure, there is no business in the history of business that has sustained operations indefinitely not putting their customers first. Never has happened, never will. Note the downfall of all financed-owned retailers: JC Penney, Sears, K-mart, Home Depot, Lowes...all financed-owned restaurants in both fast food and middle restaurants. Burger King on the ropes, Mcdonalds on the rapid decline, Kenny Rogers and Big Boys gone, *dozens* of others in the past 15 years. IT based businesses holding on by a thread, often through collusion, Adobe, Microsoft, etc. Businesses that put their customers first all doing fine, Walmart, Amazon, Temu, Space X. The check UA-cam is collecting from the government's $29 billion spent on propaganda last must be huge to keep going this way. Regardless of the amount they are taking to shill themselves, they are not going to change. I removed all content from YT as soon as they ramped-up ads and started this ad-blocking nonsense. For me, the site is nearly entirely unusable, and certainly is without ad-block enabled. If they introduced an ad-free experience I would pay my proportional share...$5 per year. @@callyral Yeah its still pretty easy to avoid ads on YT, I'm talking more about annoying TV ads, but will absolutely apply it to YT ads if they ever become truly adblock proof as YT wants. You force me to watch an ad, and any chance that I might ever buy your product is _gone._
Yeah, it is negative association. It's bad for the platform, and the company that paid to run the ad. Well, as far as reputation goes. Fiscally it's good for the platform.
Whoever came up with the idea to play 10 seconds of unskippable ads every 5 minutes should get a transplant of neuralink that plays 10 seconds of unskippable ads every 5 minutes for the rest of their goddamn life
Saying using Adblock is against our terms of service is like Amazon saying we will refuse you delivery service unless you keep your doors unlocked. Even the FBI recommend you lock your doors and use an Adblock.
You're literally using something to bypass a system for them to make money and keeping servers up, do you know how expensive and hard to keep up this entire platform and servers are?
I remember back when you didn't need an adblocker. As long as you weren't on somewhere sketchy, you any ads weren't intrusive. They were usually just something off to the side away from the main content. Sometimes you might even see stuff you'd want to click on and it would be something legit.
Banner ads! I never felt the need to block static banner ads as a kid, half the time they were selling something relevant to the website you were on. And then full video ads in the corner that would automatically load and play made every web page they were on suddenly take forever to load and threatened to prematurely data cap me...
I remember being a kid and clicking on banner ads for games that ended up being a good chunk of my childhood (club penguin, neopets, howrse, chicken smoothie, etc) that i wouldn't have found otherwise. I miss regular, relevant banner ads :(
Companies don't bother having useful or good ads anymore. They just spam people with dozens of shitty loud and annoying ads and pray it'll somehow turn into more money for them.
Curated banner ads are not just okay, they're actually great. I'm working with a company that uses them every now and then as targeted advertising on relevant websites. They actually drive tons of users our way. The engagement level is huge when done right. Instead, UA-cam is using the shotgun method. Who cares about a curated user experience? Who needs accountability for whatever garbage they're serving? They'll take money from anyone and slap an ad on anything, regardless of whether it's appropriate or not. They're happy to tank the user experience because they've all but monopolized their market sector and are operating at huge volume. It's really gross and sad; they have no pride.
I’ll never forget the one time a bit back where I was trying to watch oversimplified, when an ad came up about some crappy anime comic, and my dad actually thought I was watching p*rn at the dinner table. UA-cam literally almost got me grounded over a crappy ad
You've just rediscovered what it used to be like playing browser games. You could just be playing a tower defense game, but you'd get three "hot singles" ads in the borders around it.
It's a neverending war; 1) youtube adds ads, ad-blockers are made 2) UA-cam does something to block ad-blockers, the ad-blockers get better 3) Repeat 2) until either youtube gives up or goes broke because ad-blockers will never go away
Not just that, but recently, the amount of ads that UA-cam shows me in less than 5 minutes, it's insane. One time, I skipped an ad, and after skipping it, UA-cam immediately showed me another 2 ads. Its just insane how desperate they're for money, its driving me insane this abuse of ads on this platform.
That's not how the ad system works. They give you all the ads at once unless the creator has put in another ad spot directly afterwards. I know a couple channels doing this, and it's horrendous.
@@ryanthompson3737 Well, unless all creators have decided to do that, then that explains everything. But this has been happening to me in every single video I watch, specifically when I watch UA-cam on mobile, on desktop this things don't happen.
@@BlackPillVillain I've been having to skip every individual ad on mobile, it won't skip both ads at the same time now. @@FelipeV3444 I don't understand.. I use ublock origin on browser (pc). Firefox with ublock origin on my android phone, (also have the ytube premium app cracked but rarely use it. And a script for twitch. I haven't seen ads in years :D still going strong.
The biggest issue I have with ads on any website is that the people who purchase the ad space don't get checked to see if their ads aren't malicious. The amount of computers I've had to remove malware and sometimes even viruses from is because older people or people who don't know any better go to websites and accidentally or intentionally click an ad and get screwed. If these companies are gonna serve ads they better bend over backwards just to make sure that users of the websites aren't getting their computers rekt.
This. Getting an adblocker took me and my family from dozens of malwares a week to maybe one every three years. If UA-cam doesn't want people using those, maybe they should make sure they don't force their customers to compromise the security of their computers.
Literally almost every ad I see I can not skip the ad and the ads I see is 1 min long. Also when I just finish watching the ad and skip 10 secs forward or so another ad appear again. I hate this. So many ADS.
That's exactly what happened last time UA-cam tried this. Ublock Origin entered into arms race that lasted for a long time. Then I moved from Chrome to Brave and it's been the better part of a year since I received a UA-cam ad. This isn't by any means "The Empire Strikes Back" it's "How many times do we need to teach you this lesson old man?"
Pretty much. I use uBlock Origin and every time YT spends months figuring out a way to block UB, UB strikes back within hours to a day at most. It's honestly amazing and I have a lot of respect for the team behind the extension.
UA-cam is literally borderline unwatchable if you do not have an ad blocker an average 10 to 20 minute video will have 2 to 6 ads on it and they will all be unskippable literally dog shit
when they complete their quest to block all ads they will suffer for their efforts. I won't be around except to laugh at them as they go the way of the pay phone.
And they are constantly increasing the price for premium, which most certainly sounds like an amazing marketing strategy... They really wanna force everyone to buy premium at any cost necessary, and to milk every bit of money from those who -fall for their scam- buy into it. Really a lovely company, isn't it.
youtube is losing money for google. they found that it is nearly impossible to get non-paying users to pay, so they turn to the people who are already willing to pay, asking for more.
Just do what I did last time they tried this. Copy the video URL, paste it into a UA-cam downloader, watch it off your harddrive, delete the video when you're done.
The problem is that corporate doesn't use logic. They think if the ad is unskippable, you will be too stupid to click off or look away (like that Black Mirror episode) and because you watched it it will implant in your brain and you will subconsciously have to buy whatever it is. The ads are bad. The placement is bad. If UA-cam Premium wasn't so expensive, I'd consider it. But I don't want / need all the things it offers. Personally, I take mental notes of what ads I see and deliberately *don't* choose those items, specifically because they've annoyed me.
@@TheBlackwolf5011 Nah bro that’s a relatable experience. I make notes in my mind of the very funny ads from content creators I enjoy and the shitty forced ads that I hate from platforms. If a cc creates an ad read that’s actually funny like Noodle does, then I’ll make an internal note that “if I ever use or want this product I’ll use this creators code” and if their is an annoying ad forced on me by UA-cam then it goes on the “absolutely not” list.
That happened with me and McDonalds, I haven’t eaten in McDonalds since 2016. Well I know that is not going to affect such a big company but hey, it’s a personal thing now.
thats why youtube had to shove previously free features like background play into it, because they know it wasnt worth it, so now they are trying to Force you into it by making the free experience as annoying and shitty as possible, and wage war against ways to circumvent these ads, so that Premium is your only choice if youd like to use UA-cam Music and UA-cam as it was intended by its software engineers. This is the textbook definition of monopolistic behavior that is wholy anti consumer, which makes googles decision to remove the "dont be evil" part of their slogan deeply troubling.
I use UA-cam to help me sleep, now even when creators have it turned off ads show up in the middle or end of their videos. You get startled awake and repeat. Trying to get a goodnight sleep is becoming rather difficult. And don’t even get me started on the scam ads
UA-cam really acting like we're criminals for dodging 10 unskippable ads to watch a 2-minute video. What's next? A CAPTCHA asking us to identify traffic lights just to prove we're ‘worthy’ of skipping? Soon they'll start running ads about how they're fighting ad blockers, and I still won’t care!
_technically_, under the U.S. Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, since it's so incredibly vague, breaking the terms of service (blocking ads on YT) could potentially be construed as illegal.
@@epic_labs Seems technically possible thanks to said vagueness of CFAA but one can hope that it would not be applied in such an extreme case. Still. I could see a megacorp suing adblockers over lost profits and such in civil courts. That seems most likely to me.
I've been using UA-cam for my primary source of entertainment since 2007. One of the most important and primary benefits this had was that a commercial wouldn't play every five minutes. There has never EVER been an AD that convinced me to buy something, why would I be interested in something that doesn't value my time? They want UA-cam to interrupt me for 10-120 seconds while i'm trying to watch something. That makes me angry... not interested.
Here here man. Right there with you. I've been blindly hoping things would go back to normal since Apocalypse, but that's not happening. I know it's hella wishful thinking, and not realistic. But man do I wish ads could be optional again. Or in the very least not in every single last pixel on the g**d**m internet...
No I agree. I get home from work and want to unwind and watch my fav creators without interruption but I get these stupid ads that make me hate the product or whatever the ad is portraying. Shoot I go back to streaming on tv when it annoys me too much.
Couldn't have said it better myself! Started watching youtube around the same time as yourself because I was sick and tired of tv with it's boring useless ads and boring useless shows/movies, so I haven't watched tv since then.

“Why do people hate us?”

Bold of you to assume they ask why people hate them. They don't care. The only thing they would ask is "why aren't we getting money?"
It’s actually crazy to me that they have the audacity to play ads when a video is paused and call it an experience

Well it is a experience, just not a good one.
It's actually crazy that we are still using UA-cam with all the alternatives out there.
@@GatsuKS like what
We're cooked, need a replacement ASAP.
Doesn't even make me want to buy what they're advertising, just makes me hate them
absolutely!!

TV has the power of if you report the ad as inappropriate it immediately skips it 95% of the time
I was watching War of worlds 2005 on my TV.

@@smugsneasel At least I never have to sit through these trashvertisements. Skip, skip, skippedy skip.

Yeah, it is negative association. It's bad for the platform, and the company that paid to run the ad. Well, as far as reputation goes. Fiscally it's good for the platform.
YEP ive been that way for years. i go out of my way to not buy targeted bs
Whoever came up with the idea to play 10 seconds of unskippable ads every 5 minutes should get a transplant of neuralink that plays 10 seconds of unskippable ads every 5 minutes for the rest of their goddamn life
Worse then the chair
Ngl before I had premium (1 week ago) I never experienced that ad heavy
this is basically humanity in a few decades
I have had unskippable ads that were longer than 5 minutes on my smart tv lol
Punishment fitting the crime
Saying using Adblock is against our terms of service is like Amazon saying we will refuse you delivery service unless you keep your doors unlocked. Even the FBI recommend you lock your doors and use an Adblock.
Or Amazon saying we won't deliver to you because you don't have prime service.
you can have this item, but you have to shop at a chicken shop
You're literally using something to bypass a system for them to make money and keeping servers up, do you know how expensive and hard to keep up this entire platform and servers are?
@@artistanthony1007 "leave the multibillion company alone!"
How one dimensional. Sad face and pity face. 🤦@@artistanthony1007
the ads on the TV app are unbearable, you’re forced to watch a batch of ads that can go up to 90 seconds before a video even starts
I remember back when you didn't need an adblocker. As long as you weren't on somewhere sketchy, you any ads weren't intrusive. They were usually just something off to the side away from the main content. Sometimes you might even see stuff you'd want to click on and it would be something legit.
That was how i found miniclip, it was ad on some website. That got me through a lot of my childhood.
That must have sucked trying to explain to your family about that. :(
That's pretty funny tho :y
@@BlackOrderAlchemistits not if it ruins your relationship with your family
@@Chicken12Salad True, but I'm guessing this person here can look back and laugh at this particular incident
It's a neverending war;
1) youtube adds ads, ad-blockers are made
2) UA-cam does something to block ad-blockers, the ad-blockers get better
3) Repeat 2) until either youtube gives up or goes broke because ad-blockers will never go away
yes
Lol and the reason they go broke is cuz they're spending too much money to pay people to block the ad-blockers...
I am with Ads - Blocker
which ad blocker works atm?
@@Naturgewalt69 i use uBlock origin its working perfectly everywhere
Nowadays UA-cam ads are getting more annoying as the time goes on especially they do an unskippable ads on some certain videos.
@@ryanthompson3737 no bro I have a few videos I seen. That were 3 ads back to back
Its brutal
You can stop ads by Turning your vpn on to Afghanistan server😂
@@BlackPillVillain I've been having to skip every individual ad on mobile, it won't skip both ads at the same time now. It's even worse when I try and watch anything on my PS4 or Switch because there, you're forced to sit through over a minute of 4 or 5 different ads before the skip button even starts to work
Do they not understand that the more intrusive they make ads the more it INCENTIVIZES people to get an adblock?
Most people don't know, and aren't savvy enough to look it up. Scroll through the comments, many are just giving up and paying for premium.
@@FelipeV3444 I don't understand.. I use ublock origin on browser (pc). Firefox with ublock origin on my android phone, (also have the ytube premium app cracked but rarely use it. And a script for twitch. I haven't seen ads in years :D still going strong.
@@EchoBravo5150 sound's like someone's a corporate kissass
@@FelipeV3444 If that were the case, then youtube wouldn't care so much about the adblocks. The overwhelming majority of people are using adblocks.
@EchoBravo5150
Nice rage baiting. Try harder next time.
@@AegixDrakan hopefully they themselves r the ones that get hacked instead
Literally almost every ad I see I can not skip the ad and the ads I see is 1 min long. Also when I just finish watching the ad and skip 10 secs forward or so another ad appear again. I hate this. So many ADS.
If AdBlocker services are anything like hackers in any way, they will take this as a challenge and still overcome UA-cam’s adblocker-blocker
adblock ultimate has worked for me for 5 years 💀
if they do add server-side ad injection we're cooked
That's exactly what happened last time UA-cam tried this. Ublock Origin entered into arms race that lasted for a long time. Then I moved from Chrome to Brave and it's been the better part of a year since I received a UA-cam ad. This isn't by any means "The Empire Strikes Back" it's "How many times do we need to teach you this lesson old man?"
Pretty much how it works. UA-cam rolls out a new adblock blocker, then my adblock completely bypasses it within 1 or 2 days lol
So they're pulling the same crap as Twitch?
I tried watching a 20 minute video with ads before, it's basically 40 minutes instead.
you are getting a library of millions of hours of content for free btw
when they complete their quest to block all ads they will suffer for their efforts. I won't be around except to laugh at them as they go the way of the pay phone.
@@soupofdoom4542 I wish nothing but the worst for you in life.
I will never give Burger King another penny after having my ears repeatedly assaulted by their obnoxious “have it your way” campaign.
And they are constantly increasing the price for premium, which most certainly sounds like an amazing marketing strategy...
They really wanna force everyone to buy premium at any cost necessary, and to milk every bit of money from those who -fall for their scam- buy into it. Really a lovely company, isn't it.
agreed', as only reason I use premium is for the music player since spotify and others don't have the genre I want. it is really scummy
youtube is losing money for google. they found that it is nearly impossible to get non-paying users to pay, so they turn to the people who are already willing to pay, asking for more.
Just do what I did last time they tried this.
Copy the video URL, paste it into a UA-cam downloader, watch it off your harddrive, delete the video when you're done.
UA-cam is a sellout cause og youtube had less ads
Next step will be youtube Gold, triple the subscription price, because premium will include adds. Not so many, though, just one at a time.
Personally, I take mental notes of what ads I see and deliberately *don't* choose those items, specifically because they've annoyed me.
bro, you got an annoying ad shit list too? thought I was just being vindictive.
Same, ads that annoy me I purposely avoid buying their products
thats why youtube had to shove previously free features like background play into it, because they know it wasnt worth it, so now they are trying to Force you into it by making the free experience as annoying and shitty as possible, and wage war against ways to circumvent these ads, so that Premium is your only choice if youd like to use UA-cam Music and UA-cam as it was intended by its software engineers.
Yes!
but I get you so much

Saaame, I ended up downloading a few of them so that I can just play off my gallery and not deal with ads.
I can relate! You should use Addd blockkers
youtube : have to give u a skip button if its a 30 seconds + ad
So thy just give u 2 15 seconds unskippable one for a minute long video
UA-cam really acting like we're criminals for dodging 10 unskippable ads to watch a 2-minute video. What's next? A CAPTCHA asking us to identify traffic lights just to prove we're ‘worthy’ of skipping? Soon they'll start running ads about how they're fighting ad blockers, and I still won’t care!
Don't give them "brilliant" ideas like that >.>
If your getting 10 unskippable ads on a 2 minute video then there’s just something wrong with your device or account
Don't give them ideas...
Couldn't agree more. I'm so petty that I actively refuse to purchase or use anything I see an ad for.
Couldn't have said it better myself! Started watching youtube around the same time as yourself because I was sick and tired of tv with it's boring useless ads and boring useless shows/movies, so I haven't watched tv since then.
5 seconds it's all a add is
I'm waiting for the day when UA-cam uses the forward facing camera and the unskippable ad pauses if you look away from the screen.

This reminds me of that Sony patent that has the user shout the name of the brand to skip the ad 😭
