no autotune, when they recorded the song and did the video, they had to overlap their voices in different octaves to get the "chorus" sound, took hours of time in the studio and it's all them. That's why you don't hear the chorus during live performances. Simply amazing, and all of this was in Mercury's head, simply amazing. Thank you for saying this...I hate when people are pretentious about shit. Music should be enjoyable whether it makes you happy or emotional. It should evoke feeling, and we don’t need the music police patrolling when what or who listens to it!!
@@TheTruthContestt how? Please elaborate. Back then autotune wasn't a thing and vocalists had much better trained voices than most autotune dependent artists of today.
This song was so different to anything out there at the time. It was like a 10 minute opera. Records of this length were unheard of. Radio stations played it in full.
Queen was ahead of their time. And captured the horrors of life and death and judgement and depression and confession. In beautiful music. Also, watch some Prince from the 1980's.
@@soulspirit8687 According to Mercury's friend Chris Smith (a keyboard player in Smile), Mercury first started developing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the late 1960s; Mercury used to play parts of songs he was writing at the piano, and one of his pieces, known simply as "The Cowboy Song", contained lyrics that ended up in the completed version produced years later, in 1975, specifically, "Mama ... just killed a man."[17] Link to that is en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohemian_Rhapsody (click on history and recording)

The level of talent from this band, especially from lead vocals Freddie is unparalleled even to modern times. This man had an incredible octave range and choreographed theater while performing.
I heard this song when it was released in 1975(yes, I am that old) been my #1 band since. I recommend listening to as much as you can. They are amazing!!
1975... On a road trip, driving through the desert and it came on the radio. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! Very next payday, I owned that album and spent my first Night at the Opera. I've never been the same.
I was nine when the song came out and we listened to it on one of our school trips. On the bus it was Bo Rap and on the Hike we will rock you.... yes, one of our teachers was a big fan and I'm still thankful that he introduced me to Queen.
1st off, RIP to Freddie Mercury, one of the greatest entertainers of all time. 2nd, I LOVE this Queen song. It is simply a masterpiece. If you hear Freddie sing his part a capella, it will give you goosebumps how powerful and beautiful his voice was/is. Dope as song that'll be played 1000 years from now!
Mike - I think there are at least a couple of songs that are gonna stick around like "Happy Birthday To You". There isn't a school/college game or competition where you won't hear "We Will Rock You" and/or "We Are The Champions". They've become part of the world of sports/competition at every level if you think about it. These songs are already traditional so they COULD be around for a couple of hundred years or more. To have one song live on that way is a stupendous achievement. To have TWO, well that puts them into an entirely new category of popular. If no other work lives on, including Rhapsody, you can bet that Rock You and Champions will survive.
When you say it sounds like it's from a play is really accurate. The song is from the album 'A night at the Opera', that's why it has that kind of dynamic to it. Freddie Mercury was a versatile musical genius.
its top 3 of greatest rock songs of all time hands down this song was way before its time and is a masterpiece and you can't even try to deny that.@@maxotto9877
Night Father Mayer is fuckin nuts and I’m not into that type of music, he can rip the blues man. Brain May is a better guitarist as far as unique sonically and how vocal his guitar is. Mayer is just fucking talented as hell. I respect him.
I enjoyed hanging out with these two during this video. They’re good company even for an old lady like me living on the other side of the world. Kinda mellow people who like talking about music in a non-egotistical way. And I love the teddy-bear suit or whatever that white fluffy thing is. I wish I was a little girl and he was my uncle.
Freddie Mercury was pure talent he composed the whole song by himself wrote the whole lyrics by himself you’ll never see another Freddie Mercury again You Guys can figure out the rest
I love Freddy don’t get me wrong but a lot of people think of queen as Freddy and Freddy only John roger and Brian were such a big part of queen and I feel like people forget and don’t appreciate them as much as they deserve
If you like Queen, then you gotta check out "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Under Pressure".... You'll probably recognize the bass line in both songs because they've been sampled a lot in various hip hop beats.... Peace.
I just found you and HIGHLY recommend you react (if you haven’t already) to the 1985 Live Aid performance by Queen! ( I had trouble writing this during the song since I kept rocking out to it and I’m 61!)
"Bohemian Rhapsody" is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was written by Freddie Mercury for the band's 1975 album A Night at the Opera. It was originally 3 songs that Freddie Mercury decided to combine into one song. It is a six-minute suite, consisting of several sections without a chorus: an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock part and a reflective coda. The song is a more accessible take on the 1970s progressive rock genre. It was reportedly the most expensive single ever made at the time of its release, although the exact cost of production cannot be determined. The band members are: John Deacon - Bass Player Brian May - Guitar and singer Freddie Mercury - Lead singer and piano Roger Taylor - Drums and singer All 4 members have written number one songs, the only band to ever do this. All four members player more than one instrument. Their Live Aid '85 performance is considered to be the best live rock performance ever. They stole the show. Live Aid: Live Aid was a dual-venue benefit concert held on Saturday 13 July 1985, and an ongoing music-based fundraising initiative. The original event was organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for relief of the ongoing Ethiopian famine. Billed as the "global jukebox", the event was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, England, United Kingdom (attended by 72,000 people) and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States (attended by about 100,000 people). On the same day, concerts inspired by the initiative happened in other countries, such as the Soviet Union, Canada, Japan, Yugoslavia, Austria, Australia and West Germany. It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time; an estimated global audience of 1.9 billion, across 150 nations, watched the live broadcast. If accurate, this would be nearly 40% of the world population at the time. Unbelievable, just imagine 1.9 billion people watching this performance around the world. It may not have been a Queen audience before the show but I believe, they were Queen fans after the concert. Freddie's voice and his charisma had the audience enthralled. This performance has been voted twice as the best live rock performance of all time and watching it, you can see why. It was the magic of Freddie and Queen putting a spell on all the viewers in this unparalleled performance. Live Aid at Wembley on July 13, 1985 ua-cam.com/video/A22oy8dFjqc/v-deo.html
what you may not know is Freddie had a 4 octave range which is amazing for someone who had no formal singing training. Freddie Mercury was an amazing singer and he prowess as a front man was outstanding, he really knew how to hold an audience. You should really watch the live aid section they are famous for
I think they mean this is their first time sitting down and actually listening to it. I'm pretty sure, like everyone else, they've heard it countless times in commercials and movies and whatnot.
If you search for these sorts of reactions, there are literally dozens of them, some for some of the most famous songs they ever wrote (and probably about 90% Americans, for some reason). I was shocked, stunned, horrified at first that all these people didn't know, but now it's just funny. Especially Bohemian Rhapsody.
@Hairizal Dahrin just because you want to believe it's not true doesn't alter the fact he was born a British citizen because he was born in British Protectorate. Why not look it up rather than look even more stupid than you do.

I understand not ever hearing this song or only hearing parts but IF YOU HAVE N E V E R HEARD OF QUEEN YOU GOT ANOTHER THING COMING :D "Tenement Funster" "In the Lap of the Gods" "Hammer to Fall" "Don't Stop Me Now" "39" "Need Your Loving Tonight" "Seven Seas of Rhye" "Somebody to Love" "Keep Yourself Alive" "Brighton Rock" "Who Wants to Live Forever" "I Want It All" "Now I'm Here" "Radio Ga Ga" "Another One Bites the Dust" "Stone Cold Crazy" "You're My Best Friend" "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" "We Are the Champions" "Tie Your Mother Down" "Killer Queen" "We Will Rock You" "Under Pressure" (My personal fave :P) "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Out of all of these this is the most surprising that someone wouldn't know)

I don't know one person who doesn't know every single word of this, but you two were adorable! I so enjoyed watching your faces. I hope it has grown on you now like it has for us. Bless x
I graduated High School in June of '76. Bohemian Rhapsody was a big hit then as well as the whole album, A Night At The Opera. Some of the best music I have ever heard is from my high school years. I am sure everyone says the same thing, but the early 70's does have some really good music. I highly suggest today's millennials give the music of the 70's a chance. Besides disco, it might just be the best decade for music and you can include some of the early disco songs. There was no auto tune....people actually played instruments and synthesizers. It was the decade of the singer-songwriter as well.

Wayne's World reintroduced this song to my geration. Doesn't matter when you discover Queen, as long as you have!
Thank you for saying this...I hate when people are pretentious about shit. Music should be enjoyable whether it makes you happy or emotional. It should evoke feeling, and we don’t need the music police patrolling when what or who listens to it!!

Queen was ahead of their time. And captured the horrors of life and death and judgement and depression and confession. In beautiful music. Also, watch some Prince from the 1980's.

this song took freddie 10 years to perfect and 70 hours for them to record. no auto tune.
10 years? Lol when do you got that information?
@@soulspirit8687 According to Mercury's friend Chris Smith (a keyboard player in Smile), Mercury first started developing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the late 1960s; Mercury used to play parts of songs he was writing at the piano, and one of his pieces, known simply as "The Cowboy Song", contained lyrics that ended up in the completed version produced years later, in 1975, specifically, "Mama ... just killed a man."[17]

1975... On a road trip, driving through the desert and it came on the radio. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! Very next payday, I owned that album and spent my first Night at the Opera. I've never been the same.
Seriously?! No one can reach the age of 3 without ever having heard this song.

This is the first time I have heard this song aswell and I started to cry, I got goosebumps! Pure Talent.

When you say it sounds like it's from a play is really accurate. The song is from the album 'A night at the Opera', that's why it has that kind of dynamic to it. Freddie Mercury was a versatile musical genius.

The band members are:
John Deacon - Bass Player
Brian May - Guitar and singer
Freddie Mercury - Lead singer and piano
Roger Taylor - Drums and singer
All 4 members have written number one songs, the only band to ever do this.

4:12 im bobbing my head, they're bobbing theirs. Damn Queen, you haVE POWER OVER ME.
If this is their first time watching the video, I get that.. but if this is the first time they've heard the song, WHAT?! 😀
I think they mean this is their first time sitting down and actually listening to it. I'm pretty sure, like everyone else, they've heard it countless times in commercials and movies and whatnot.
One of em heard it the other only heard bits and pieces
To me there's a huge difference between hearing a song and listening to a song.

Jimmy Hill i listen to all of their songs since I was little I love it.
