You probably don't know this, but this is where MTV started. This was the first music video ever created by any band in history. Had it not been for this song & video in the mid 70's.... MTV might never have been. This song was number 1 on the charts for about 3 months & about 10-15 years later hit number 1 again for weeks again. The movie was Wayne's World! Freddie Mercury was the greatest Singer & Frontman of all time and I've heard everyone from the 50's to now. He had a 4.82 vocal range & used subharmonics, which no other singer has ever been able to do.
+Celeste King The very 1st video to be played on MTV was "Video Killed The Radio Star" by I believe their name was Buggles and Rugsy. I don't know if I am spelling it correctly but I watched it when it 1st debuted & it stuck in my memory ever since!!
The first "music videos" were produced in the 1920's. Short films done in the style of musicals, usually featuring a single song and movie star. Depending on the criteria used, videos of music performances have been around as long as videos with audio. AND when silent movies were being made there were composers who had films made to accompany their pieces. In 1956 Tony Bennett had himself filmed walking through a park, and then set it to one of his songs. Which is likely the first time an artist recorded a video to go with a song, that wasn't a performance. Bands in the 60s did all sorts of videos. Bohemian Rhapsody was the first time a video was used as a major part of the promotion for a song, but it wasn't the first music video by a long shot. And they didn't just pull the video out of their asses either. This video predates theirs by 11 years. ua-cam.com/video/h42kzEA9l8Q/v-deo.html

Don't know what's sadder. The fact that "Artists" make it so or that the People accept this. The moment studios realized that songs don't have to have a substance, meaning, weight to sell was when popular music died...
My thoughts exactly. I'm only 32 years old and I feel like an old dude talking to his grand children about the "simpler times" when talking to people about pre 2000,s pre 90s and pre 80s music.
The harmonies you're hearing at the beginning are all Freddie Mercury layering his own voice. Whilst Him, Roger and Brian could all harmonise really well, Freddie was the only one who really knew what was going on when they stated recording this song. You can hear their harmonies with eachother in the operatic section :)
I agree with Mary. The movie had tons of inaccuracies but who cares. It was an experience. It captured the heart of their music. The last 20 minutes are an experience unlike anything else.
I love the movie, it's a bit inaccurate but isn't a biographical movie, so I enjoyed a lot, the acting was amazing, and hear iconic songs at cinema...wow, it was like watching a concert ahaahhaha :)
queen might of done 70s metal. But their soft rock and oprah. not real metal or whatever. Still have respect for them but just don’t connect with them.
I was about 8 yrs old listening to "Killer Queen" on a 45. I was 25 when Freddie died and I cried my heart out. Go ahead and listen to "Who Wants To Live Forever" and I dare you not to cry, if you loved Freddie Mercury.
"In fact" this is the myth that people just keep repeating no matter how many times it has been debunked, disavowed, and completely proven as false. If that's what it means to you, that's fine, but stop trying to represent it as fact. It is not. Freddie stated that it was bits of three different songs he was working with and decided to put the ideas together with a bit of "silly" stuff in the middle. He refused to ever say what the song was about. Any implication otherwise is purely speculation and should be stated as such.
It's about a guy who killed somebody and who now asks himself if he should surrender to the police and risk being sentenced to death. That's why he says goodbye to his mother. Simple as that.
OK I get how reactions work but how have you not heard bohemian rhapsody. This song is a classic, it is also overused and sampled by other artists and shows and whatever one can think of. I simply cannot imagine how a normal person, watching tv, listening to radio can miss this amazing piece of art...
Bohemian Rhapsody is made up of 5 sections. The into, a balled section, an opera section, a hard rock section, and a reflective coda at the end. It was a very “weird” and “unique” the time it was made and continues to be one of the most iconic songs in history. Truly an amazing band. R.I.P Freddie Mercury.

Hi There is a few reaction types on Boh Rhap on youtube and I must say your reaction to this piece of music is the best so far I have seen on the net, I have been a fan of Queen since 1973 and to see a younger generation seeing Queen for the very first time really puts a big smile on my face. Your reaction is how I felt when the record came out in 1975 & was number 1 record in Uk charts for 13 weeks.
I have known this song since I came out of the womb. I am 13. I absolutely love Queen. I know every word of it. It kind of makes me sad that I know every single word and people like the person in this video don't even know who Queen are. Legends never die, God's never die, kings never die.

I saw them at Madison Square Garden in 1979, they were everything you said in your reaction and so much more, Freddy was drinking JD out of the bottle right off the piano as between songs. LOL we had 18th row tickets I still have the concert program! One of my treasured momentos!

The words are heartbreaking, Freddie wrote this when he was literally dying from HIV- AIDS. Such a shame that we lost him before medicine caught up. So knowing that he's been and perhaps killed a man through a sexual act brings out all the pain he's expressed so amazingly with such passion. It's heartbreaking We still miss you Freddie . Also if you want a gut wrencher. Freddie Mercury was on his death bed. He didn’t want to quit though. The fee times he was well enough to sing they would record what little they could. One time, right before he died he took a swig of whiskey and busted out one of his greatest performances and in one take blasted out the song Mother Love. Now if you hear the song and freddies performance it will get you, but even more about halfway thru the song the vocals cut out and when they come back in its brian may singing. Freddie had died before the song was done. But they still finished the song. Think of that when you listen to it and it will punch a hole in your man card because that shit gets to you.

The darkest deepest times in my life during a time when nobody's answers or help did me no good, I've always turned to music whether it be country, metal, rap, punk...whatever it was I always found comfort in losing myself to the sound voices, instrumental sounds and the solitude and emotions filling me. I even like the Jazz and Hot Space albums. Another thing to do is watch the UA-cam videos on the making of an album or songs. There's a great vid of the making of Bohemian Rhapsody. Watching the videos of interviews and watching them record or work on albums/songs is interesting. I especially, loved the fun that they had on the Making of One Vision. Roger had in his words nicked words from MMLK's speech, went away on a short vacation and came back to Freddie rearranging the words. The parody that Freddie does is off color but funny. They worked hard, played hard, fought and got sick of each other but always came back because they knew they were better together, as Queen.
There was a guy that got arrested by the police in Canada. He sang this entire song in the backseat and then complied. It was all caught on camera. He just had to do it before going to jail.

It's so great to see Freddy Mercury still putting smiles on people's faces still to this day! Check out "One" by Metallica. Another amazing classic that tells a story.
Wayne’s World brought this song to another generation. I was blessed enough to be around as a teenager when Queen hit the scene originally. Many people believe that this song represents Freddie’s struggles with his sexuality. Freddie was deeply in love and engaged to a girl named Mary. They lived together for 7 years. Freddie was also born into a family rooted in an ancient religion and fled to the African Island of Zanzibar because of religious persecution. This religion considered gay lifestyle a form of demon worship. In this context, it is easy to see how conflicted and torn he felt as his sexual appetite for men could not be repressed. He knew he had to “face the truth”. The married life he wanted with Mary was “gone and thrown away.” Freddie himself said that he could never fall in love with a man in the same way he did a woman. Only Freddie knows for sure and he never defined the meaning of this song. He wanted his listeners to project their own interpretation onto the song. When I was young I always thought it was tongue in cheek about how he had murdered someone and now he has to face a death sentence. In the 70’s after all Johnny Cash was constantly talking about how “He shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.” And Queen guitarist even referred to the “put a gun against his head” as Freddie’s “Cowboy Song.” So I think Freddie got his way and is sticking his tongue out at us amused that we don’t really know! 😉 The film is excellent. It took some artistic liberties and I have read some people are angry that so much emphasis was placed on Freddie’s love affair with Mary in order to make him seem more straight, but there’s no getting around the love he had for her. I really love your channel! I am subscribing and will be viewing more!!!
I watched it with my Daddy, when i was a little girl! When i saw the movie, i cried. It brought me back in time! Queen is the best band ever, and Freddy Mercury is a legend.
If you like the changes and style, listen to "Time" by David Bowie which did a very similar thing but a few years earlier. The two later collaborated for the masterpiece, "Under Pressure" which you'd also probably love.
Yes, yes, yes, this! Time is still one of my favourite Bowie songs and I've listened to his entire discography. There are just the great classics, I'd say Lady Grinning Soul as well, despite it being not as similar to this as Time would be. But the high notes are just perfection. Can't there be a series of Bowie reactions too?

In 1956 Tony Bennett had himself filmed walking through a park, and then set it to one of his songs. Which is likely the first time an artist recorded a video to go with a song, that wasn't a performance.
Bands in the 60s did all sorts of videos.
Bohemian Rhapsody was the first time a video was used as a major part of the promotion for a song, but it wasn't the first music video by a long shot. And they didn't just pull the video out of their asses either. This video predates theirs by 11 years. ua-cam.com/video/h42kzEA9l8Q/v-deo.html
The Beatles created music videos in the 60's because they couldn't possibly make all of the live tv appearences required of them

This is it, this is our generation...
Haha 😂
I was about to comment that but then realized someone had to realize that too 🤣
Don't know what's sadder.
Chris Wilder my dad says the same thing haha, but for real, the 2000’s where the last decade of real music
The harmonies you're hearing at the beginning are all Freddie Mercury layering his own voice. Whilst Him, Roger and Brian could all harmonise really well, Freddie was the only one who really knew what was going on when they stated recording this song. You can hear their harmonies with eachother in the operatic section :)
...and he did it all with just microphones and tape. Autotune did not exist.
Movie: Wayne's World. But Dude, watch the new movie biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. It is friggin amazing!!!!!!! You'll looooove it! Viva Queen!!!!!!
I heard that the Queen fanatics didn't like the movie because it skipped over some important phases of their career and is a bit inaccurate :(
Nuhjeea Yeah, true. But it celebrates life and music. That's all I care about. Oh and the acting is Oscar-class!!!!!

He was talking about killing himself psychologically. The person he was, for the person he wanted to be. It's a metaphor. Good catch.
In fact it is his coming out, he kills the man aka the hetero guy he has to be.

OK I get how reactions work but how have you not heard bohemian rhapsody. This song is a classic, it is also overused and sampled by other artists and shows and whatever one can think of. Bohemian Rhapsody is made up of 5 sections. The into, a balled section, an opera section, a hard rock section, and a reflective coda at the end. Hi There is a few reaction types on Boh Rhap on youtube and I must say your reaction to this piece of music is the best so far I have seen on the net, I have been a fan of Queen since 1973 and to see a younger generation seeing Queen for the very first time really puts a big smile on my face. The words are heartbreaking, Freddie wrote this when he was literally dying from HIV- AIDS. Such a shame that we lost him before medicine caught up.

There are so many great songs by Queen. I think the best way to appreciate them is to listen to their albums beginning with Queen, their first albums. They experimented with their sound throughout the years, trying to keep Queen fresh.

Yes, yes, yes, this! Time is still one of my favourite Bowie songs and I've listened to his entire discography. There are just the great classics, I'd say Lady Grinning Soul as well, despite it being not as similar to this as Time would be. But the high notes are just perfection.
