That's not the bridge people don't like taking from Tampa. That's the replacement bridge for the one that was hit by the barge in 1980. The skyway bridge.
The bridge that connects St Pete to Tampa is the Howard Franklin, which is currently under construction to add a couple of lanes each way. The bridge in the "SkyRay" logo is the iconic Skyway bridge, which connects St Pete to the southern cities within the Tampa Bay region such as Bradenton and Sarasota.
The shape of the wording on the Cubs jersey matches the shape of the top of the red sign that’s out at the front above the main entrance of their stadium called the Marquee sign.
Hey! Rays fan here! The bridge on the hat is not the bridge we hate to take, the bridge on the hat is the skyway and it takes you to the Sarasota area to some more beaches, the bridge we hate taking is the Howard Franklin bridge that’s connects Tampa to st Pete because it’s like 3 miles long and always has bad traffic
From Cincinnati here! The 'CINCY' across the front is apparently supposed to be a nod to an iconic illuminated 'CINCINNATI' sign we have here on the side of a large duke energy building downtown - and I must say it is very similar. As for the new 'C' on the hat and sleeve, supposedly Nike and the Reds were going for a modern take on the classic logo that has barely changed forever. Also on the hat, the red stripe you mentioned on the brim is paying homage to the design of the 1919-era cap's similar to what the Reds wore in the Field of Dreams game.
I like the Phillies the most. Love the blue. Love the gradient color scheme. They look high tech and modern, too. And that’s a nice contrast from their standard uniforms.
I love ours in Cleveland, only thing I would change is the front to The Land instead of CLE. The piping is cool because it's embroidered with the pattern on the front of the statues. The decision to go with cream instead of just white was great!
I really, really like the Rays City Connects. Kind of wish Brodie was more informed about the details in their uniforms! As a theme though, i think that would have benefited every team though!
Not sure if it was mentioned by anyone in the comments already, but the Brewers City Connect hat, says both MKE and 414, which is our IATA and area code
Hey Brodie, just wanted to mention Re:Diamondbacks jerseys, they only used the 2-tone look for a handful of games in 2022. Outside of that, the pants they have paired with their city connect have matched the color of the tops.
The Sox jerseys sold out within hours, the fans spoke of their affection for the uniform by purchasing them. Now, if only the team was worthy of the uniform.
For me it's White Sox and the new Rays CC, Rockies an Nats are also good though, for some reason the more I see the Nats one though the less I like it, not really sure why, the grey just doesn't do it as much for me I think
New Nats CC? They already announced 2024 is the last year they’re using their current CCs, no announced plans for a new one but I assume they’re making another like the Dodgers since the Nats were one of the originals also.
When it comes to black jerseys. Al Davis of the Raiders didn't understand how a culture change we would have when he moved to LA. When N.W.A. came out, they made black cool. NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL all took notice.
I love Seattle’s in the abstract as a Mariners fan, the hat is the best CC cap alongside Philly. However as a graphic designer, as a marketer, it is obvious from the vast majority of city connects that Nike designed them centrally instead of someone who actually understands the culture of each city or region. A lot of them look like they Googled free fonts and slapped on either the city name or a nickname no one uses. I think the new Phillies is the only one that’s actually a clear win for actually connecting to the city AND being a clear reflection of the team and it’s because they worked closely with the players, with the team. Baltimore and Seattle and Tampa Bay are solid to me but nothing special like the Phills. The Braves is basically just a throwback, Atlanta has so much culture and their CC references next to none of it. I’m sure their fans like it but that’s because it’s just an alternate, it’s not a proper City Connect.
The Phillies jersey is blue and yellow to reflect the flag of Philadelphia. The flag of Philadelphia is the oldest city flag to have not changed at all since it was created. The reason for the blue and yellow is because Philadelphia was populated by people from Sweden. The font is supposed to represent using either a feather or metal tipped quill. Hence the sharp lines on the edges.
I'm from Cleveland and I agree it should just say Cleveland but i really like them. However in reference to the phillies jersey I cant stand gradient i think it looks ugly in most cases
I agree, Phillies CC is probably bottom 3 worst ones for me, aside from the hat being cool, the rest just looks hideous to me and it does not look like the Phillies at all either
The Cardinals are releasing theirs on May 20th. Speculation is a red jersey, since they gave up their red spring training jersey for this, but no red pants since the owner thinks they would look like pajamas.
Hey Brodie the lettering is suppose to represent the way they formed their lettere during Declaration of Independence era. This is Jersey Ken right outside Philly. Take care.
I really don’t mean to sound like a miserable prick, but I think the city connects are a disaster. The Phillies’ city connects, that bluish greenish color, completely mis-matches with both the color of the seats and the color of the padded walls on the field. And then you have yellow mixed in. They’re just…gross. What a complete disaster on Nike’s part. Now, had the Phils done their 1938 wool yellow and blue unis, that’d be dope.
5280 is not a mountain designation. It's the footage of a mile. Not to smart if you don't know that. As far as KC That IS baby blue, light blue or sky blue not royal blue. The all blue dodgers is royal blue
I see we have some differing opinions, the White Sox and the new Rays jerseys are my favorites, I absolutely love the look of them. I’m also a sucker for red and black so the Reds CC is also up there for me. The Giants is actually my least favorite, I think it’s just so boring and looks like a regular jersey they would go with if they rebranded, it just doesn’t pop at all for me.
I think the whole concept of these uniforms is terrible. NBA has some truely bad versions too. Colors are linked to teams and history in the MLB, and the uniforms need to present that in the most quality, upscale, well designed way possible. So many of these are in stark contrast to the team colors and styles that they just don't even look like they belong in professional sports. Its a discrace to the brands, marketing and branding. The Yankees as much as I hate them, have the right idea.
All teams that play in CC uniforms need to let the fans know in advance when games are played in these uniforms. Then, let fans exchange their tickets for games that are played in regular uniforms. Most fans hate CC uniforms and don't want to look at them for 3 hours. I don't even want to look at them on TV either, so I'll listen to a game on the radio instead.
How about a Sacramento A’s city connect? Since it is west Sac, they could tie the State Capitol to the Tower Bridge with the A’s logo. I guess you had to be there. But I just invented a nothing burger.
But the Yankees did the first few Players Weekend Jerseys way back when. If Nike is paying them to design a new jersey? Is tradition really stopping them versus the Almighty $$$$$?
As a Royals fan, I couldn’t be happier with the way ours look. Also why do are the Dodgers so boring, like you’ve got LA, so much to work with. Why not make a jersey that says “HOLLYWOOD” with the block font from the sign and put like an old-fashioned movie camera on the side and do a pink star on the cap with the Dodgers D inside, maybe even some film reel looking stripe down the side of the pants. Come on cowards.
If the yankees are so adamant about never participating in city connects because of "tradition" why wouid they just decide to pit the patch on the arm? I feel like they arent above city connects at all. Maybe they can even just use the little league world series winning teams jerseys since they have a little league ballpark?
The white Sox have the best city connect uniforms the black pinstripe the white pinstripe dodgers. Padres. Mets pirates nationals. Braves. As. Angels especially them I forgot them they current uniforms are great that clean ass red and white the caps with the halo above the letter a a nice red cap I forgot about them the great arch word design the angels set is magnificentlly done so getting back to city connects Rockies phillies reds
Me and my family are all Padres fans and we all hate their City connect uniforms. We call them the clowns suits since it make the Padres look ridiculous. I wouldn't shed a tear if they got rid of them and came up with a better design.
Nike sux. Traditional looks much much better stop trying to reinvent the wheel. San Diego was an embarrassment to baseball not to mention Boston and a lot others.
Well there was the big mistake: working with Nike. I think I realize now why I hate these pointlessly idiotic jerseys. They remind me too much of minor league teams with their discount feel and their desperate promotions. Everything that makes MLB/The Show professional is disrespectfully discarded.

For the Brewers city connect MKE, the lines made “45” and the jerseys where made during the brewers 45th season
The Rockies wear white pants now
"I'm not going to give anything a letter grade" but I will title my video GRADING EVERY MLB CITY CONNECT JERSEY.
For the Mets, The pants are white and the purple represents the Number 7 subway line which runs to Citi Field.
Cool.
36:10 Philly font is supposed to mimic the font from the Declaration.. decent idea but didn’t come out too good
Great catch- had no idea
did not know that! (it's not very close haha)
I'm graduating from college in 4 days with a degree in design (graphic design, etc.) and I definitely have a lot to say about these jerseys 😂
Same lol. With every jersey released, I could hear my professors roasting them in my head saying what could have been done better.
Dont even need a design degree to see that most of them suck
You should draw your version for each teams city connect. I’d be interested in seeing it.
That's not the bridge people don't like taking from Tampa. That's the replacement bridge for the one that was hit by the barge in 1980. The skyway bridge.

The connector in the MKE is the number 44.
From Cincinnati here! Pretty sure we didnt do it cause the Cavs have "The Land" for theirs
I really, really like the Rays City Connects. Kind of wish Brodie was more informed about the details in their uniforms! As a theme though, i think that would have benefited every team though!
There’s a skate culture in Tampa Bay, the texture is supposed to look like “grip tape”
I also really like them, but I think the timing was not to their benefit. It just blends in as another black & gray City Connect.
The Braves city connect really does remind me of the lowercase a Jersey we once had. I love their city connect
The White Sox "Southside" City connect Jersey is My Favorite.
They wore them with white pants when they debuted in 2021
But in 2022 they made them the same color as the jersey
Weirdly a lot of the stuff u liked I didn’t but the Padres, Rays, Nats, White Sox and marlins are amazing
For the Rockies: 5280 is feet in a mile, they are the mile high city, hence 5280.
oh yeah, got that part, I think the double diamonds meant something. that's the part I wasn't clear on
Every team in Denver has the 5280 on their uniforms, if you're unfamiliar with the city you might not know what that means
@@michaelleroy9281fr
@@brodiebrazil It's skiing term. A double black diamond sign means that the ski path ahead is expert-level and very difficult.
I think the mariners should get all blue pants with the bill of the hat being blue
I'm weird. I'm actually fond of the Giants' creamsicle jerseys.
They grew on me. I hated them at first, but I get why they went with that design.
@brodiebrazil,
You're correct about the Rockies City Connect Uniform. It looks like the generic/common Colorado license plate.
I actually really like their connects but I do understand that outlook
The Sox jerseys sold out within hours, the fans spoke of their affection for the uniform by purchasing them. Now, if only the team was worthy of the uniform.
It’s been brutal but the Southside jerseys are sweet.
I like the dodgers city connect the new ones they always gets it right they have great designers ⭐⭐⭐🥇🥇😃😃💯🔥🔥🔥
From all city connect jersey, i really like Angels, Tampa Bay, and San Diego Padres. The third jersey is very unique. Even though i’m a dodgers fan 😅
Absolutely love this video but safe to say you and I have very different opinions 😅
Giants having the fog on the jersey to an orange pin stripe pants would have been interesting and tie in the bridges
Not sure if you were aware but the colors of the Phillies jerseys are a nod to the the flag, which is light blue and yellow.
I agree black pants don't look right on a baseball field. Only the Pirates can pull that off IMO.
Getting on the reds for using red?!?! Wow
i know i'm bad
@@brodiebrazil credit to you for being able to admit it haha.
The Dbacks have a pretty clean city connect
Bill Ankeny---- Like the CLE.
Personally, the Rockies (with the white pants) & Nationals to me are my favorites
For me it's White Sox and the new Rays CC, Rockies an Nats are also good though, for some reason the more I see the Nats one though the less I like it, not really sure why, the grey just doesn't do it as much for me I think
Dodgers missed an opportunity to have the dodger text like the Hollywood sign. That would have been nicer.
They should make a CC for the Expos. Best retro uni, already!
There haven't been an Expos in MLB since 2004 though, there's that living in the past thing again
@@michaelleroy9281 Geez. Lie down, man.
New Nats CC? They already announced 2024 is the last year they’re using their current CCs, no announced plans for a new one but I assume they’re making another like the Dodgers since the Nats were one of the originals also.

You said the reds should get away from red😂
For the sake of city connects… maybe. See Padres.
When it comes to black jerseys. Al Davis of the Raiders didn't understand how a culture change we would have when he moved to LA. When N.W.A. came out, they made black cool. NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL all took notice.
Big braves fan. Love the city connect uniforms. Bought two different hats so far and the hank Aaron 715 shirt. Awesome uniforms
In Sacto, the A’s can be green and gold and have CV for Central Valley.

As a Phillies fan, I am glad we only wear them on Friday nights. They would not look good in a day game.
The Pirates could use a white belt ...in my opinion
Brodie Brazil long form video?? Let's go!!
oh wait till later this week... hahaha
Philly should have done a Kelly Green jersey as a non-football team
The Angels are Herbie the Love Bug!...they really cool.
Miami should make their City Connects their main jersey
ChiSox' City Connect is as good as Miami's
As a Marlins fan now, I love the CCs, too. I think everyone would like the team to revert to the teal with pinstripes at home as the regular uni.
Really like the Mets jersey, the White Sox and Astros ones are nice too.
Making a mockery of MLB uniforms.
As a Yankee fan, That Phillies hat is DOPE!
Pirates would be cooler if they wore the old Pillbox hats

The Boston’s team looks like soccer players
Padres look cool put it feels more like a Miami jersey
To sum it all up... NIKE's City Connect uniforms are terrible and ugly, with a couple of "OK" creations.
And the "OK" creations resemble more of throwback concepts (e.g., Braves, Angels)
Nah man, there’s some really good ones.
11:43 The batter man logo would have worked or the one white sock logo would have worked on the cap.
I think the lettering and numbers should be glow in the dark on the CUBS CC uniforms. 🤔 🤣
5280 is not a mountain designation. It's the footage of a mile. Not to smart if you don't know that. As far as KC That IS baby blue, light blue or sky blue not royal blue. The all blue dodgers is royal blue
I hate the three letter jerseys. Outside of the US no one gets it anyway. What does CLE, PGH, WSH mean? Maybe NYC is ok, but other than that?
Imagine thinking the Texas and Tampa ones are bad
I see we have some differing opinions, the White Sox and the new Rays jerseys are my favorites, I absolutely love the look of them. I’m also a sucker for red and black so the Reds CC is also up there for me.
