@@flyinglobster9552 ok. I think the comment I was replying to said something like "they only have X subscribers". So I wasn't comparing to other YT channels, I was comparing to themselves.
Watched this before the youtube vod came out because I couldn't bear the wait and just had to come and say what an INSANE fight, the number of awesome clutch moments that happened is crazy, the three team Starbreaker, the counterspells, the elder Quill! Everything about this fight was incredible, hats off to everyone in the HR crew
My birthday was a week ago, and two days later I ran my first marathon listening to High Rollers podcasts the whole time 😂 thanks for sparking my interest in DND
Wow, what a battle! That was such a well handled villain fight, and so many clutch moments, the counterspell, Quill... I admit I got leaky eyes for a moment there, can't even imagine how hard it must be to DM such moments. Big props to Mark for keeping it interesting and fair for everybody. Despite - or because of - the unlucky rolls it made for a great story and I'm ready to watch the team whoop Hadar's ass! 👏
It’s criminal. The story is absolutely amazing with great players. Guess the word just hasn’t been out there as much as CR (they’re great too for sure)
Amazing episode! Had me tugging the hearstrings! Also, I HAVE to point out the synced movement thing that Katie and Tom do at 1:55:55. So good, not even planned!
I watched this episode on Twitch, again now on UA-cam and I fully intend to listen to the podcast on my morning commute. Possibly the best episode yet!
Thank you all again for another episode, I’ve been DM’ing for twelve years on and off now and I’m about to start a lightfall and Aerois based home brew next weekend, but thank you all again for all the good work over the years 🎉
SPOILER 1:43:55 I FUCKING LOVE RHI! I can see a battered and bruised sentry standing defiantly like fucking Captain America delivering this brilliant line to the frothing rage that is Xarkira.
I feel that Lucius was MVP of that fight, he might not have gotten the finishing blow. But damn he did a lot there. If that power word kill got off on Quill they probably wouldn't have gotten Valla out in time to save him
Oh gods, this was such a good fight. Everyone had such great moments, perfect chances to shine, despite all the awful shit she threw at them. I have no clue how Mark is going to top this with Hadar, but the finale is going to be so intense, I cannot wait.
I'm usually a VOD watcher because I put the episodes on when I'm at work, but I have a feeling I'll need to actually tune in live for the Hadar fight. I don't know if I can hold in the emotions in public lmao
I think he is referring to the Dungeon Dudes. They are really good. The players are plenty fun to whatch and Mounty, the Gm is awesome at wolrd building and handling factions. His setting is easilly the most interesting out of the three. I highly recommed it. @@Blasted2Oblivion
I fully get why Mark didn't make them roll to release Valla, out of any PC quill is by far the most indespensible for the final fight. But Dice Christ is surely going to punish them later for forcing it through. Still had me crying though, this whole arc has caused more tears in me then I've shed in years
@@totallycarbon2106 I agree. Even if all three of those characters rolled a 1, this game doesnt have auto succeed or failure rules for ability checks. Just adding their modifiers was more than the required amount to break through that barrier. Mark literally said this too, so idk why someone felt the need to condone it. Like, I'm a complete jerk and I say a lot of dumb and mean things and even I wouldn't say something that stupid.
Oh damn! Ya better buckle up and stick your head in the sand because if you ever look around you'll lose a LOT more faith in humanity. Avoid all social media platforms, don't go to public places, don't read or watch any news of any kind, and don't participate in any regular group activities. That's the only way to NOT lose faith in humanity.... well, unless you're dumb enough to believe in some lie
The pain of being a great gamemaster is that you sometimes have to be an asshole, because the best bad guys tend to be assholes. And it makes for a great story in the end.
I have to say Mark changing up counter spell mid combat during that mass heal was pretty shitty. Not that I disagree that the spell could use some revision but to change it up after it was used normally multiple times during the fight already is not great. I get his friends are chill with it but as people watch live play shows to learn the game it’s not a good habit to teach new DMs. Especially when the change he made will always heavily favour the DM since late game enemies will almost always have stats higher than what players can usually achieve.
The result from this was the same as it would've been otherwise. Favoring the bad guys with the decision stays true to the original concept of counterspell but at least gives a small chance for the heroes to be... well ... heroic.
aw man i know it doesnt really make a difference for VODs but its a bit sad such an incredible session was pre-recorded, I woulda been a little disappointed if I was able to watch the strems live.
So, was Raistlin a bit of character inspiration for Xarkira? Its been, like, 20 years since I read Dragonlance, but thats one of the overarching plots, if I remember correctly.
I will just plan out isn't this the first times are zarkera has ever struck down someone while they bend down. Cuz if that is the case then I say it's out of character. Mark
@@cammmdoit5693 Done, though not sure it is much of a spoiler. Mark has had utilized similar powers from her before. But the caged person doing something meaningful makes sense
Well, there wouldn’t have been a problem if he didn’t implement the (unfair and homebrew) no saving npcs mechanism of resurrecting not working on entropis. He solved a problem that he himself made. High level dnd is filled with zero stakes or real danger.
@@MarkcrazeerThere is no point in implementing a rule if you're going to make an exception to it every time the rule comes into effect. He should have either never made the rule or stuck to it when the time came. High-level dnd can have risk of permanent character death, especially when the campaign is so close to over anyway, but it is indicative of a lack of imagination to not find a cool narrative angle in the next session following the character's death. There are ways Mark and Tom could have used this, but they went the lazy route instead.
@@calconone7250I thought the death ruling was for anyone killed in the Far Realm. They haven't gotten to that place yet.
