Next time you listen to this reocording or any other Walcha recording, close your eyes. It will be a new experience. You will hear him not miss a single note. Each note will be crisp and clear. He learned every piece having someone play a few bars at a time then trying it himself.
Clean, clear, bright, steady, unaffected .Delightuflly underplayed. One gets tired of hearing Bach played pomposo grandioso, furbo fortissimo e energico senza anima.
+kingjosh1876 Hey man, no need to drag cancer patients into this, comparing them to this here dumbass is completely unfair. This guy deserves instead to be compared with some variety of rodent.
Imagine, as an ordinary congregation member, not knowing nothing about music and organs, going inside the church and listening to this. I know I would feel the divine. Bach really wrote down the voice of God.
imo the most perfect 4 minutes of music ever written. I'd love to visit Austria for many reasons but even to see that organ in the monastery alone would be amazing.
Listening to this recording makes one wonder if Prof. Walcha was really blind, or if he was able to see what remained invisible to the rest of us, while we were the real blind... Really, this is eternity expressed in music.
@dannynowak38 This is, as it is known, the "little" G minor fugue. It was never intended to be another epic fugue. On the other hand, it is an excellent teaching piece, and it clearly demonstrates Bach's skill at fugal writing. Because of its simplicity, the various voices are always audible (when played with the appropriate registration) and it's easy to trace the entry and recapitulation of the theme in all four voices. It's lighter...and that's by design.
Yes, it's all very nice as all music is! whatever your thinking of at the time. It's along time since I've read the book, but isn't there something in "Ursula K. Le Guin " "The Dispossessed," where some one comes across somebody listening to "Bach," naked!
@twistoftime Just to make it perfectly clear: The choice to give this piece the title "Little Fugue" was not done by Bach, but by people today, in order to distinguish it from the fugue of BWV 542 (Fantasia and Fugue in G minor).
**Actually** He and I BOTH have the right to say what we want. He has the right to say that this piece of music reminds him of fairies, and I have the right to tell him that his illustration trivializes the music. The only person who doesn't have a right is you telling me that I don't have the right to say that, because I do.
Actually thinking about it , it could've been from "Marge Piercy 's" "Woman on the Edge Of Time," not "The Dispossessed," read both novels in the mid- seventies?
"How could you realistically have posted your original comment with good intention knowing well that you were putting someone else down?" The answer to that is simple: The same reason why you believe you are doing good by castigating me for the comment to begin with
Helmut Walcha was blind and considered one of the great organists of his time. Although this version is a little slow every voice is crystal clear! As for the comment by I'm high; go listen to some (c)rap 'music. I'm sure your illiterate brain will comprehend it better!
Why does my comment have to be morally righteous? Also, who are you to deem what is/isn't righteous? I found her comment to be disrespectful, and according to my moral compass, I was justified in saying what I said. It really doesn't matter whether her motives were positive or not, because good intentions do not always result in good outcomes. This is evidenced in my own original comment, which I wrote with good intention, yet it has offended you and a few others. You're probably going to say
The soundtrack of Mad Father is based on the Hage no Uta (Baldy Song) by Brief & Trunks (who also sang Konbini), which is based on this melody. Remember in that game, when is the BGM played?
I'm not the only one who disliked her comment. In a sense it was a joke, because there is absolutely nothing anyone could ever say to devalue the music of Bach, but I thought the imagery was disrespectful towards the music and trivialized it. There's nothing "holier-than-thou" about it, although I suppose it helps your argument to make me seem like a douche bag
raito yagami Juno: As keeper of this island, I hereby exercise my Prerogative of Correctional Displacation. Megaman Prerogative of Correctional... What? Juno: Allow me to rephrase; I will exercise my authority to terminate your program.
The registration is not ideal. For all the many times I've heard this piece, there have been more baroque mixtures involved; the texture is too thin in my opinion. However, I still don't understand why anyone would 'dislike' this fugue!
This is like fairies dancing and spinning around in a forest at night with the stars shining. Beautiful.

Reunion with this piece performed by Walcha after 45 years' absence. Still sounds perfect. Many thanks for uploading this.
Clean, clear, bright, steady, unaffected .Delightuflly underplayed. One gets tired of hearing Bach played pomposo grandioso, furbo fortissimo e energico senza anima.
+Sentil Do you have cancer of the brain, so as to produce such a comment?
+kingjosh1876 Hey man, no need to drag cancer patients into this, comparing them to this here dumbass is completely unfair. This guy deserves instead to be compared with some variety of rodent.
Well said!
I meant that remark for Hyramess, not for the trolls.
kingjosh1876 No, but you do.
Pompous ass.
The divine harmonies that JS Bach gifted to the humanity...we are so grateful for this spiritual legacy!
Imagine, as an ordinary congregation member, not knowing nothing about music and organs, going inside the church and listening to this. I know I would feel the divine. Bach really wrote down the voice of God.
This is the speed it should be played
yup!
I wondered about that. Everyone else seems like they are in a race. But this one is quite nice.
@;op 4 I don't like all things slow. But this one - it sounds better slow. The sound has a chance to bleed into your heart a little, moving it.
I play this piece and i am 15 years old
But it is so difficult
Sorry because my english is not perfect but i am french
Just beautiful. Thank you. One of the few PIECES where most people appreciate that Is not running fast. A surprise.
Brilliant voicing, beautiful playing, it reassures me that there are good things in the world
imo the most perfect 4 minutes of music ever written. I'd love to visit Austria for many reasons but even to see that organ in the monastery alone would be amazing.
Best version ever.
J.S.Bach + H. Walcha = Perfection!!!
One of my favorite organ fugues by the great J.S Bach, himself.
My favorite part begins at 2:20 and ends at 2:35.....
Such beautiful sound.
Listening to this recording makes one wonder if Prof. Walcha was really blind, or if he was able to see what remained invisible to the rest of us, while we were the real blind... Really, this is eternity expressed in music.
Beautiful. Even more so when you consider that Helmut Walcha was blind.
Perfect. Too many other performances at lightning pace making a blurry sound. This one is lovely.
Agree.
Beethoven once called Bach "The original father of harmony"
Listening to this absolutely beautiful piece, its not hard to imagine why.
Finally a nice 'slow' version. Personally, I find most version feel way to fast. they are fine at first but later on it just gets too crowded.
Grande interpretazione del buon vecchio e inarrivabile Walcha
This is an excellent version of this fugue, by the tempo, the registration, etc.
You're right. The greatness of Bach's music is far beyond and above our pettiness
I can listen to it for even a whole day
Helmut Walcha is still one of the best, even if this has to be an old recording.
Espléndida obra de arte musical; Magnifico Walcha
the man Helmut was blind , his hands are guided by devine source , as well as Bach's inspiration.
Marvelous! Thank you for sharing this beautiful job.

@Eric Marqueteau Precisement!!
Entièrement d'accord avec vous!
Great organist. Clear and bright sounds.
Look no further, this is the quintessential interpretation, tempo and articulation!
I got to see this organ when we visited Melk!!!! Oh goodness, it was glorious. I wish I could have heard it play while I was there....
Haunting and ingenious.
So fantastically well put. I can't, at all, come with a better response to the "dancing fairies".
Very good , very pure , Helmut , great version , perfect. Appreciation from the UK :-)
simply perfect
Super best interpret of J.S.Bach!
Excellent tempo! Che belleza di musica :)
Good temp. There are so much musicians who are constantly in a hurry, but this one fortunately no.
How can such a magical, magnificent piece be called the “Little Fugue?”
Sanjosemike
I thought it's obvious... There is also fugue called "Great" 😉
ua-cam.com/video/6clTa8_QYQE/v-deo.html
Yes, that is the tone. Wish I could have been there to hear it.
Ideal for tempo and clarity of lines.
Meraviglioso
Beautiful organ and very nice playing.
Oh man... :(
Bach is much more than images.
Its pure music.
Un des très grands
Siempre grande , siempre el mejor

He taught my organ professor
How is that possible, unless one of you lived to be like 200 years old?
@@Jynx215 Walcha, not Bach.
Absolutely Addicted!!!
Almost Parfect. Perfect.
To Troy Nixon : You are right. This is the most perfect piece of music ever written. It's the voice of God.
The voice of g-d sounds like Rip Taylor. This isn't even close. Tho this is more soothing I will grant.
When the Angels play for themself they play Mozart...when they play for GOD, they play Bach !

I love this stuff...
@wtfgnomemonkey That's how I was introduced to the piece, and it's been at the top of my musical favorites list ever since.
Very well played! Interesting interpretation, has a romantic feel to it. Quite different, but nice :)
The picture and the location of the Walcha recording are separate. very beautiful as usual
Jesus christ. This is perfect. I just.
Each vision we have that this work evokes is worth, IMHO. Personally, my imagination runs to a Captain Nemo or sci-fi theme. But I like your view too.
Delightful! And in the right and balanced tempo. You don't need to force it, as it is frequently the case.
Gracias por subirlo.
THANK YOU!!!....
always a fave.

it's like listening to Bach himself.....
No...Bach played everything faster. He was a show off. He was the best and he knew it.
Thanks!
This music fits just right with surrealism or Klee's paintings.
I hear Kefka's theme, Dancing Mad (3rd Movement) and some of Edgar and Sabin's theme from Final Fantasy 6!
I want one of these for my house XD
I agree thsi si the right tempo for ths Master Piece.
Than you.

It's not a piece, it's a concerto!

this feels me very romantic and like i'm kissing my sweetheart and cherish her in heaven.
This music indeed connects us to Jesus - and Bach knew that.
My favorite part was from 0:00 to 4:12
Oh My *.*
"How could you realistically have posted your original comment with good intention knowing well that you were putting someone else down?" The answer to that is simple: The same reason why you believe you are doing good by castigating me for the comment to begin with
This piece is supposed to be heroic and spine tinglingly exciting!!!
could someone tell me please which organ is the one it's in the image?
