Nice review. A nickel gun in 38 super is a era gone by, now it's stainless in 9mm. Nickel gives you that "grey ghost" look that you would get from a custom pistol smith for a one of a kind gun. That whole concept of 38 super switch barrel, blanked out slide and nickel finish gives the feeling of what Al Capone would have carried back in the 30's. I think Tisas is onto something.
I agree 🤠
@@wyominggunprojectLOVE IT....👍👍
Yeah, the yellowish coloration is from the copper plating that they have to do for nickel plating. I interned with a company that did nothing but plating guns in nickel and chrome. I love nickel but it's fragile. That's why nobody does it anymore. The matte finish was something we refused to do because if you put it in a holster, it will get shiny spots. We wrapped the nickel guns in velour bags because Styrofoam left shiny spots on matte when we used to do them before and shiny nickel it left yellow spots.
I love that subtle look and finish and it comes in two calibers. It's a win win for that Tisas 1911.
Amazing value! The nickel plating alone is worth it. The titanium firing pin and commander hammer are nice touches. Glad you called out the machine marks. Its not a safe queen. It's a fun and practical shooter. Both tight groups too. There's shills and paid reviewers hyping Staccato (formerly STI) 1911/2011's that cost $3K+, and mags are $75 each. And I've seen them shoot loose groups lol! For that money they should be laser beams. They only cover what they're paid, sponsored, or incentivised to. Product showcases. Nothing wrong with running a business as long as they're honest about it. Why I appreciate your honest reviews. Value Equation: for $3K you could buy 6 of these or trick out 2-3 other nice pistols. Good hands on review 👍
Great review which included valuable 1911 info ( i.e., the "wiggle" on the safety, the Ed Brown magazine)... Since I reload I only needed to acquire some 38 Super +P brass from Starline: already had dies, .356" bullets and appropriate powders. My 38 Super cost per round (after the 1st reloads of the new brass) approaches the cost of regular 9mm range ammo! CHEERS! P.S. I would always prefer a well-applied matt nickel finish vs. a coating ANY day! P.P.S. After my 1st trip to the range I was blown away: my pistol has no nicks or scrapes, the nickel finish is pristine, the lockup, accuracy and function with ball, FMJs & various hollowpoints was flawless. I am 100% satisfied. And the safety exhibited no wiggle and positively clicked on and off.
The reason why the grip safety rattles is that the finger on the sear spring that engages the grip safety is bent way in. If the spring is bent outwards (while still retaining the pistol's safety feature), the rattle will most likely disappear.
Tisas is doing what Rock Island should have done. My gunsmithing school gave me a Rock Island and I asked immediately if I could build a Tisas instead. Their machining and QC is so much better.
They make the best 1911s under $1000. Ill order one just to have one. They use all forged parts which makes them a great source for parts.
Even the Philippines military and police buy guns from Tisas. One would assume that RIA would have sufficed but they'd be wrong.
The Turkish defense industry has been on a roll the past two decades, so there's always innovation. The innovation in the guns took off at the start of the 2010s in response to Germany de-facto embargoing rifles and even pistols sales because of anti-Turkey lobbying. So TR started taking the sector seriously, fueled by domestic and foreign contracts, and ended up taking marketshare from Germany.
Now Tisas needs to make a two tone stakeout with 10mm and 40 s&w barrels
Hell yeah brother. Sign me up 🤠
I'd be all over it too
I've said the same before.
I believe you can drop in a .45 or a 10MM. I know for certain the .45 barrel will fit with the same bushing, they made the barrels OD all the same GI spec dimension for the .45 .38 SA and 9MM. Not 100% certain on the 10 MM, though I suspect it could be a drop in. I can buy a .45 bbl for $50 new, a 10MM a bit more, and std mags all fit, .38 SA, 9MM and .45. What’s not to like!?!
@@karsonbranham3900 45 and 10mm have different case head and breech face dimensions. Require different slides
I have one on order from Classic Firearms, it is still in transit. I have 3 other Tisas 9mm, 1911s a full size single stack Nightstalker, a Nightstalker DS and a light weight bobtailed Commander sized carry gun. I also have 21 other 1911s from various manufacturers including Colt and my feeling is that on a dollar for dollar basis the Tisas guns are probably the best value. I also in that pile of fine weaponry have some RIA guns in particular a DS 5” convertible gun in 22TCM/9mm and a 5” single stack 38 Super. I was cleaning the 38Super one time and a giant light bulb appeared above my head. Hey I said this 38 Super barrel looks just like the 9mm barrel on my other gun. So I got out the convertible gun and found that all 3 barrels will mix and match between the two frames and work just fine. So when I saw this Tisas convertible, I couldn’t resist. Now I wonder if the RIA barrels will fit properly in this new Tisas, just curious. Keep up the great work on your videos. As far as PIMP GUNS go I have a bright chrome Chinese Tokerev in 9mm with imitation pearl grips. If a pistol doesn’t cause as much shame as that one then it isn’t worthy of the name PIMP GUN, even my bright nickel RIA 1911A1 in 45 acp doesn’t come close to that gaudy Tok.
I think you and I might be twins. I have like 12 Tisas 1911’s and over 30 1911’s from various manufacturers as well. Including the 22 TCM RIA. 🤣
The name for the Tisas 1911 guns outside the US is _Zig 1911._ It's a reference to _Zigana_ which is a series of original, hammer-fired pistols from Tisas.
The name for the Girsan 1911 pistols are _Yavuz 1911._
Nice. Thanks for the info 🤠
One of the only reviews that checked out the important details. Well done.
Thanks 🙏🏻
I carry a Tisas Duty DS with a Tisas BR9 (commander size slide) on top. Over 2.8k rounds no problems
Great choice 🤠
Took me a minute but I see what you did there. So you already had the single stack 9, in commander size, threw it on your Duty DS. Kind of cool because now you almost have 4 different guns. Does the Duty slide fit on the single stack slide? Not that you would ever want that other than maybe using an optic.
That gun is mirror image of my old delta elite . The slide serrations and the sights look exact.
I could have sworn this was stainless steel. But I'm wrong. lol. Thank you for doing the 9mm and the 38super on the accuracy test. That was awesome. Great gun.
The turks make good shotguns and pistols. I bought this 9mm/38 super combo. Had a few hiccups but after 100 rounds it was totally reliable. Cost me 599.00. A good value. Some higher end autos have a "break in" period and cost hundreds more. Money well spent.
I like what Tisas is offering! The combo barrel deal is nice since 38 Super is not cheap to shoot! I wish they gave you a 3 dot sight set up.
Take a red paint pen to the front sight. You’re welcome.
Well, since I reload, in my case I already had dies, .356" bullets and appropriate powders: ordered some 38 Super +P brass from Starline and I'm good to go at what is basically a 9mm cost per round after the 1st reload! This was a great review with valuable information (a wiggle on the safety, the Ed Brown magazine!)! CHEERS! P.S. Personally I don't let minor machining imperfections that don't really "show" (i.e., inside the slide?), or more importantly, don't affect the function or safety of a firearm bother me in the least. On a Colt or from a true "cu$tom" manufacturer, of course! On a dual caliber 1911 under $600, hardly.
Cool video Matt and cool gun. As you know big 38 Super fan here but having the option of switching to 9mm is a bonus. 9mm as you mentioned much more affordable. The Commander hammer and beavertail are nice touches along with the satin/dull nickel finish. Also for around, I think you said 6 Benjamin's it's like having two guns kinda. Win win! Thanks for another great video Matt!
This one was for you Mike. I know you love the 38 Super. 🤠
Just purchased this pistol. So far it has run like a top with my reloads. Shoots to point of aim at 12 yards. Doubt I will ever install the 9mm barrel. I have never installed the 9mm barrel on my 22 TCM after 2 years. Too many other 9mm's in my collection. Couldn't resist the price on the Stakeout, $447. out the door.
Machining/tool marks are common on 1911s made during WWII. Manufacturing was fast-tracked during that time, and I feel that machining marks are more of a cosmetic thing more than anything else.
They used to sell polished ones call Desperado and Renegade...still on Tisas USA...polished 4 1/4 and 5 inch, just can't find them in the wild. Glad they did this.🇺🇸👍🇹🇷
Love the videos. Always fair and informative. Only complaint is it makes me miss Wyoming. Spent several years in Sheridan and some time in Cheyenne.
Well you can’t come back🤣 Just kidding 🤠
Dang, I’ve got a Tisas 1911’ in 9 mm and 2 in 45acp and one in 10 mm. Looks like I may have to buy just one more !
Recently added a Crimson Trace Lasergrip to suppliment the irons: fit was perfect, didn't even need any adjustment and is a truly beneficial addition!
Just received mine from PSA, got it for $499. Nice gun!
A very nice smooth looking 1911 and very accurate to. I had a 1980 Colt 1911 in 45acp that was a polished nickel that I wish I still had. Thanks for the video, Slim.
Just shot the the 38super today. Flawless; fmj and jhp. HOWEVER before this after cleaning and oiling, I had to run a 6 magazine cycling of rounds. They didn't cycle at first. You have to let spring do it's job, Don't help it. Anyway, at the range flawless cycling. Very nice gun. Tisas nails it again.all my 45s tisa are flawless from the start
Got mine today, immediately ran 3 10 round 9mm mags thru it right out of the box right to point of aim, then switched to .38 super and ran 3 mags thru it also to point. Used colt, Wilson and the mags that came with it. The 9mm was Fiocchi ball, the .38 super was both factory ball ammo and my reloads.awesome start
That’s great to hear. 👍🏻
Just got one in today and not a blemish on it. No machining marks. Does have the downward movement of safety but safety works perfectly. Very sturdy protective case as well. Probably will make me a great truck gun. I load for my competition Caspian 38 Super so don't have to hunt for scarce, rediculously priced ammo. As shootable as 9mm but much more power with negligably more recoil and great stopping power.
Big thumbs up! Excellent demonstration/review video on a VERY cool handgun. I bought the Tisas Stakeout today...along with a 50rd box of 38s ammo and tax I got out of the store for about $520. It's like getting two very solid quality handguns for less than half the price of a "mid'level" gun like a Kimber or Colt...
I love the sights on the gun - that front post shows up nice big and bright. The finish is excellent and the gun is tight - there are no rattles or wiggles in it when you shake it - empty or with a mag in the well there just is no play in the gun. Took it home immediately disassembled the gun cleaned it up and lubed the heck out of it...can't wait to get out on the range with it.
At the price point for this gun it has to be the best value for the dollar firearm on the market.
Great video sir and very good shooting.
My tisas 1911 was perfect no machining marks 38 super and 9mm for 529.00 when i bought it is a no brainer.
I'm so regretting (for a lot of reasons, namely the poor quality) my Kimber .38 Super purchase. It was a train wreck. I'd rather have something from Turkey at that point. Thanks for the video. First time subscriber!
Welcome. Thanks for the comment and thank you for subscribing 🤠
Nickel is a very delicate finish period. Unless you leave it in the box and never touch it you'll have marks. Nickel Windicators always have a mark on the top strap where they dunk them. When you buy a Tisas 1911 style anything take that cleaning brush out first thing as it just rubs the finish off the slide all day long. I personally love Tisas for what they are, a lower priced alternative that can be carried and used if nessecery. Who's ever ready to lose your stainless Para 14 if you need to use it because you're not getting it back.
Love the finish on this pistol
Hope they come out with a Commander size version
That would be amazing
Excellent video. And right on time. Ive been looking at 38Super alot lately. Big Thanks
I just got the 9/38S 1911 haven’t even shot it yet but this review has me excited. Thank you!
You’re welcome 🤠
I love your channel I'm a big fan just wanted to give you a little tip you probably know it by now this video is 5 months old now but when you change out your plunger tube speing you may want to go to a gunsmith and have them check the steak level on your plunger tube I have the same problem and my plunger tube after changing out my spring needed to be restatement I didn't have a problem just want to give you a helpful tip that helped me maybe that works for you. Thanks for the great videos keep up the great work
Excellent review sir! Well done.Thanks!...
Thank you sir 🤠
Very nice gun and another great review, thanks.
Thank you sir 🤠
Ok I'm going to have to go look for one
Check Buds Gun Shop. Thats where I got this one 🤠
I just purchased a 4.25 CMD 9MM nickel 1911. Yours is very cool!
looks like a nice pistol, if it was me i would reach out tisas for the marking from machine and buff spots.
My opinion only but for $475 this gun is a value item. Your not going to get perfection on this but is the best price for the money.
This video actually answered my questions thanks good content
Glad I could help. Thank you for watching 🤠
The rub on the slide is identical to the one I just got. It's from that metal brush rubbing against the gun in the box.
Really nice review man. Love your style.
Thanks man 🤠
I know that when the pistol is brand new you don’t want to see blemishes on the finish. But I’m not so much bothered by that because I carry my 1911 everyday and I work dirty outdoor jobs. So the finishes on my pistols get beat up, knocked around and worn out from the elements, metal shavings and dirt. I take care of my 1911s mechanically, but the finish gets really beat up.
Just found your channel. Great unbiased and knowledgeable review! I learned something which is cool.
Thanks man 🤠
I like the no markings too
if you want a full guide rod they do not use a standard spring you will have to get one from wolff springs the 38 super will give a 357 run for the money 3 more rounds and better controlablity was known for going through heavy steel car bodies during the 1930s enjoy
Just picked one up and it’s smooth and finish is nice!
An entire review including the weight, nice, but WTF how much does it cost?
At 9:10 in the video I state the price which was around $570.
@@wyominggunproject my apologies... senior moment
@@joewest2560 no worries buddy 🤠
Not trying to be a sceptic here, but it it seems like every gun you shoot in the accuracy rest has awfully well regulated sights, especially the fixed ones! I know I've taken many out of the box and shot them and tend to have some that always seem to hit high, low, let or fight. Now, I may not have the studies hands, but your hits are centered. Are you adjusting at all before the tests?
Waiting for the matte nickel finish in the 45 Stakeout
Second time im watching this video im digging that pistol a lot
It’s Super Cool man 🤠
Very nice looking
Just recently got my 1st 1911, a springfield ronin in God's caliber. Loving it. Watched so many reviews on tisas, thinking about trying one out. I live in maryville, TN. New home of s&w. Just a stones throw from Knoxville there the tisas location is here. Hmm lol
I love my Tisas 1911s, but Tisas needs to improve the sights on these guns. I'm surprised you didn't have issues with the sights. Nickel plated front and rear sights on a nickel plated gun are useless! WTF? Come on Tisas. You are better than this. At least give us fiber optics or brass bead front sights like on the standard Stakeout.
Agree about the sights.
Very beautiful, this 1911A1 pistol can use both 38 Super and 9mm ammunition. It looks very useful. Are there any gun shops in Thailand that sell it?
Getting one on Monday
Congrats 👍🏻
Great video
Nicely done review.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Would love it in a dbl stack frame
Get this and the Tisas double stack then swap the tops...you are still under the Staccato price. Also, the double stack mags are marked 9/38 so win win.👍
I bought this sku last week, your video is a good holdover while I wait for it to get out of jail. Thanks! It seemed like a good way to dip my toes in the 1911 world for someone with plenty of 9mm ammo. Love the blanked out slide and feature set.
Was the 9mm mag also an ed brown, or is it a mecgar like the other Tisas skus?
The 9mm mag is a Mec-Gar
Nice 🎉🎉🎉
Bueno
Nice weapon 👌
Cool 😎
I think you have sold me on this pistol
👍🏻
wish they sold Tisas 1911 in California.
Did you try ejecting a live round? I jsut pruhased one of these, and .38 Super Aguila factory 130 FMJ is sticking the bullet into the rifling upon chambering. Difficult to extract as a result, and you can see engraving marks from the rifling on the bullet. Also, the ejector is way too long, and will not eject a live round at 1.260" cartridge OAL (Aguila 130 FMJ). I get that this is a dual-calibre set-up with 9mm, but the ejector is not correct for .38 Super.
I have none of those problems. 🤠
Machine marks dont bother me. As long as its functional. I call it character.
Tbh honest im new to guns idk what 1911 from what brand to get i might get this or a colt classic😅
I have a lot of 1911 reviews on my channel. That might help you make a decision.
I’d suggest a Tisas Service Special. Not very expensive, bullet proof reliability, accurate and won’t cost much. If you decide you are a fan of the 1911 platform you go from there. Start with Tisas. You just can’t beat them for what they offer and their price.
@@joelbabcock2952 exactly 👍🏻
@@joelbabcock2952 yeah ive been thinking about that one too but also the 1911 carry double stack there just soo many options
Do you know if they offer this in a commander size?
I believe they do but I’m not sure it’s in 38 Super. I think it’s 45 ACP
Hey WGP, have you shot the Tisas Desperado? What's your thoughts on it??
I have not but it looks really cool 😎
Can matt nickel be polished??? To a chrome look...
Not sure 🤔
Yes you can. Mother’s polish works great.
All parts interchangable with normal commander 1911?
Not all parts are interchangeable because it is a full size 5 inch. So the slide and barrel won’t interchange.
@@wyominggunproject yes i went to tisas sight is ejector and extractor different??
😮😮 VERYGOOD sudyord 🔥🔥 38 Super ⚡⚡
I from THAILAND 🇨🇷 patlung 👍👍

You’re slapping the trigger…
So if you buy a bull you pay close to $1200 if you buy this its $475. I definitely like your video but you definitely are not going to get perfection for $475 so for the price you are going to get what you get. If you want something perfect you must pay for it. This gun is definitely a value gun and thats what you get. Show your friends but use s bull from bull armory if you want the real deal. My own opinion but it is what it is for $475. A value nothing else.
