We have the same mower and it's so much better than our old petrol one. Our whipper snipper takes the same battery, so if the battery dies half way through a big mow, I can just go and grab the other one off the charger, no need to wait for it to recharge. The first day I used ours in the front yard, our neighbour across the road came over to have a look and bought an electric one within a couple of weeks.
I have always thought of buying one of these. I watched your first review one year ago and you was very pleased with it. Looking forward to watching this when I get time.
@@VroomBroomZoom I had a big feeling you loved that mower. It's so unusual these days to find a product that we can be 100% happy with. You should do more non motorbike reviews. You have a very easy to understand voice and speaking manner. Have a happy new year mate.
I believe it’s time for a season three update. My mower has been put into dormancy because I upgraded the model to one with the self propelled & crosscut blades. The six amp hour battery is awesome and the five amp battery from the model you have in this video now sits beside the 6 am battery and hardly ever gets used 😂 the four amp hour battery that came with the crosscut mower sit in my line trimmer, and I alternate that between it and my 36 V blower. Needless to say I have completely bought into the Ryobi 36 V ecosystem.😂 not regretting it yet the line trimmer did develop a crack in the metal shaft, but Bunnings replaced it. No hassle.
My whole motor broke off the plastic when i went over a tree root. It was still bolted in but the plastic snapped around the motor mount. So i took 5 cable ties and stitched it back in place. I've mowed 3 times now in fairly rough lawns and it's worked well. So if you ever hit a stump you can fix it.
My battery went in our mower and I was dammed if I was going to pat $299 for a new one but thankfully I found a place called Batteryexpert here in Aus that were selling a no name one for $129
Be careful buying third party batteries. Some can be worth it price for performance or how long it last. But some cheap ones are more of a scam, stop holding a charge after few charging cycles
My Ryobi 36v mower has given up just after the 6 year warranty finished. Even with a new 36 v 6ah battery it slows to almost a standstill when trying to cut grass that isn't that long. I have to wait for it to rev back up and move forward, only to have it happen again. So I'm guessing the motor is on the way out. Is it still worth it if you have to replace it after 6 years? I don't know. The performance has been dropping for a little while now. It was great when new.
RLM36X46S52 is $629 at Bunnings now. Similar looking RLM36X46BL is $499. Main difference I can tell is 4Ah battery vs 5Ah. Any opinion on the two given $120 difference?
I would buy the 499 pack and keep my eye open for a spare battery. Bunnings sell two 36v 4Ah batteries for 299, so you should be able to pick one up cheap enough somewhere.
Yeah that sounds like a nice deal. I've been breaking the mowing up into two sessions anyway, so if you're happy to do that for your block, the 4Ah should suffice.
The $629 one has slight extra feature of some kind, extra level on settings. Not enough to really be a real difference, main difference is bigger battery.
Hi there. Great video - thanks. I'm looking at upgrading from my 18V Ryobi. Have you had any problems with the catcher not catching grass properly, or clogging? (Some people complain of the grass chute to the catcher being to small / narrow)
This is somewhat true, there has been at times that the chute has clogged up and the catcher is not full when I check it (and the indicator is saying that it's full).
I took this home today. Charged it up. Ran 10 minutes from advertised 50. Charged again 4 hours. Tried again. 10 mins. Charged again. Took 3 days and 5 charges to cut 300m2. Junk
I have had mine for one year and I am going back to a petrol lawn mower. Good. Definitely not good. Consistently they stop working and they definitely do not now like the petrol lawn mowers. You have to be delicate because they are light and flimsy. Not hardy like the petrol mowers. This is the fourth time now and I have to research why it stools when I start to mow my lawns. Very frustrating. My family has the 18 volt and they have the same issues. I have the 36 volt. Do not buy one. I am very surprised with you saying these are good lawnmowers. Total crap 💩
I think if you’re stalling lots, you’re probably mowing very short/low. Try raising the deck and see your grass come alive. Also, if your grass is super thick or long, try two runs, one at say Height 5 then at Height 3.
Mine just died at 3.5 years old (well it still worked, but the ignition switch died so it didn't turn off). It was exchanged for a new one, no questions asked 🤷♀️
U SUCK RYOBI in the whole vdo This only lasted 9 mins After 4 charge still I m not done 1000 sqm block I rather get a petrol and get job done then wait 3 hrs to charge
I've hot the same mower for almost two years and it has been fantastic and it's so much quieter than the monster petrol.ones

Good info thanks. Thanks for tipping it over & showing the blade & your cleaning tip. Yep this might be the one for me. Cheers.
Very happy with it 👌

Spoiler: I still love it, even more. 😋

Thanks jayjay, you've been supporting my channel for so long, I really appreciate it. :)
the vid is 6 mins long? you ccant spare 6 mins?
Just wondering how this would go on a thick buffalo lawn (kings pride buffalo) as my 16 yo four stroke is on its last legs.

Love a good bush mechanic 👌
Still fine it’s a year old you wanna hope so lol your making its 10 years old
Beside that thanks for the review
And....it didn't last much longer before I had to get it replaced :)
@@VroomBroomZoom what really ? What happened and was it still under any form of warranty
That’s not good
Yes under warranty, got a replacement with a slight update and slight increase in price
Does the '1' setting cut the grass shortest or '5'?
1 👍
@VroomBroomZoom thanks! What setting is recommended for Sir Walter Buffalo turf/ regular mowing in general, please?
I’m no expert, I’d say 3 is a good general height
@VroomBroomZoom thanks. Yep, leaving at it 3 these days

May I ask how long your battery lasted? Also, I only see a 40Amp battery on their site 🤷🏼♂️

You seem to have a couch grass… I understand they should be cut between 10mm and 20mm. What is the lowest height for your machine?
🤷♂️
After having this mower for a year. How's the clipping bag holding up? Any signs of it wearing?
Really well actually!!! I’ll have a look and make a video, but definitely still works like new as far as I can tell 👌
I’ve had mine for 4 years. Lightly used. Battery defective today. Not happy.
Yeah, since this I’ve also had to return mine for a faulty battery, luckily inside warranty period.
Gr8 video. Just wondering how did the lawn mower go in mulching mode go? Any issues? 🙂
Sorry for the late reply. This mower struggled a little when on low cut settings and mulching. 👍

Thank you for this info. I'd expect a bit more out of the motor, did it have a hard life?
@VroomBroomZoom not really. Flat, medium suburban block in Melb. No other usage. Kept out of the weather between uses. Blades and battery replaced.

Ok - good to know.
Thanks for that.
Saying that, it's not a deal breaker if you get what I mean.
@@VroomBroomZoom
Gotcha.
Thanks again
the grass is full of weeds, they are also green.
Yes...that is phase 2 :)
Weeds don't exist, they're edible flora.
Mulcher plate did you get it with the mower? I got the same mower in NZ no plate.
Maybe ask the shop, it should come with one.
After 10 years my petrol mower won't start so I'm looking at electric. This mower might be the go.
Awesome, but I’d get the next level up.
Top video mate.
How does the power compare to a petrol mower?
Definitely less power but it’s also changed the way I mow now, not trying to get the grass down to 1mm anymore 😂😂😂
still no demo
Good things come to those who wait 😒😂😂😂
What about tall grass a foot high
It “could” do it, but I wouldn’t. Maybe a whipper shipper over it first, then on highest setting…..maybe. Probably not.

Nothing like a 4 stroke mower , battery mowers don't cut it. I never see a contractor use one. , Been there Done that.
Yeah nah, not for contractors, but you can’t beat them for single jobs 👌👌👌
These will last maybe 2 years max. Ryobi will not fulfill warranty issues on motor. Motor repair costs $360
