I’ll have some more on this mower. The grass cut here was quite a spongy buffalo that I cut mainly the leaf off. If you have anything you’d like me to cover on this mower, let me know.

I have the older 36V version. Plastic everything, but still pretty good. I bought it second hand to test the concept a few years ago and it's great. A tip - keep the blade sharp and the batteries will last a lot longer on a charge. I just touch mine up with a flap disc on an angle grinder as required.
I'm probably going to sell my 6.5hp Honda mower, which is an awesome contractor grade machine, but overkill and really heavy in comparison.

I purchased the smaller version with one 18v battery a year ago for around $230. It's been fabulous for my basic-sized house lawn and nature strip. Being a tiny older woman it works a treat, lightweight and easy to use. The battery needs to recharge between doing the front lawn and then the small backyard & nature strip, which suits me cause so do I 😄 But it only takes about an hour, so all good. Was well worth the money as now I save $100 a month for a lawn guy & my clippings get picked up instead of blown around by him 😁 I do mow every 2 weeks so it doesn't make it too hard to get through the growth also.

    Great review.
Got mine 6 weeks ago and have only had to use it once in anger. Loved how light it is. Only used one bar on the batteries too.
I've just donated my 1998 model Rover, with the Suzuki 2 stroke motor, to a local men's shed. Had it from new! Was as old as my adult son.
Now no fumes, fuel-oil mix, filter, spark plug or pull start.
One problem with the Ozito. The front curved plate and rear plastic infill, around the sweep of the blade, is digging into the grass when going along a hump with the wheels either side. It really seemed to dig in. I'll have to look at it before I mow next.

Just a note on batteries, I run Ozito impact and drill. I've had a 2ah battery for must be about 4 or 5 years now and have not noticed any performance drop off yet. It's infrequent use compared to a mower but same batteries so thought I'd mention it.

I've never had any connection problem - the batteries have little rectangular bars which snap back up into place when inserted on the charger or mower. Those both confirm the battery is seated properly and also hold the battery in place.

I'm replying to my own - the one tested is a Ozito PXC 36V (2 x 18V) 460mm Brushless Self-Propelled Steel Deck Lawn Mower 4.0Ah Kit PXBMK-4047SP $599 in Townsville. This is an 18inch deck as opposed to the $399 one which is a 15 inch deck which doesn't have a steel deck. I thought battery mowers were quiet. This is every bit as loud as a petrol mower.!! A steel deck is great. I have had 2 B&S petrol mowers, lovingly cared and maintained which have lasted between 3 and 4 years, so in my perspective not having to buy oil, petrol, air filters, etc over 4 years would be around $200 - $250mark. Suddenly June 2024 Bunnings has the non-self propelled one @ $100 lower $499.00. A Ryobi polymer deck would not last long with twigs, etc

Most of my tools are Makita or Bosch but on occasion, I've needed something for a one off job. I didn't want to pay top price for something I needed once so I bought Ozito. They've got a five year warranty and Bunnings has an excellent returns policy. They felt light but after doing the job, I took a critical look at them. First thing I noticed they seemed to be well thought out and built. Still have them ten years later and I use them as decoys for when someone wants to borrow something. If someone doesn't have the budget and not much work, I think they are just tickety boo for the task. That said, I won't be buying Makita anymore. They've gone downhill since they moved their operation from Mexico to China.

I’m lucky I bought my Ryobi One+ mower when they still had the model which held two 18v batteries inline, giving 36v and powering a 36v motor. I’ve no idea why they stopped producing the model, but all mowers in the One+ range now only have an 18v motor. Even the models which hold two batteries run them in series, meaning when one battery drains, the other kicks in, but only ever drawing 18v at a time.

I have one of the older Ozito steel decks with self propelled rear wheels. I find that a pair of the 5.2ah (ultra), 6ah or 8ah Battries work significantly better than the standard 4ah. More grunt for longer. Also shame to see that they got rid of the side eject. But for the price point I think its a good mower.
