How wonderful! You will have a very special Mother's Day. Back in 2018 and we did the Masada Snake Path hike on Mother's day. I did a little video of it here: ua-cam.com/video/ocZysipS18s/v-deo.html
Boy! You really got me thinking. We have never taken a backpack anywhere, but I can see we will need one for each of us. The wardrobe will be a serious consideration. I think the tops you were wearing are great and with a cami. The hiking polls sound like a great idea and the shoe tips were very valuable. Thank you so much!!! ❤️
Having hiking poles or a walking stick of some form is helpful. It doesn't take much of a fall to break bones. In Scotland I slipped on wet grass at the top of the moat at St Andrews Castle and broke both bones in my lower right leg.
Oh dear, that must have been quite an ordeal. I certainly pray all goes smoothly on your trip to Israel. I have seen these great little walking sticks that even fold up and can fit in a purse. I think I would take one of those next time.
Thank you for the great tips! Im going to the Holy Land with my parents this November. Since my parents are seniors, Im also going to bring electrolyte drops and a light towel that i can wet with water as the elderly are prone to heat strokes. Im Catholic so I would also bring rosaries that I could touch on relics and gift them to loved ones.
You're very welcome - I'm glad these tips are helpful. I'm excited for you and your parents. I would hope that November wouldn't be as hot. Have a wonderful time!
I envy your going to Israel in May. In 2012, my wife and I went to Israel in JULY! Talk about hot! 114 degrees F at Ein Gedi at the Dead Sea! We thought it was humorous that every little Mom-n-Pop eating joint in the old city touted "World's Best Pizza," World's Best Falafel," and "World's Best Schnitzel"! It sounds like our tour was very much like ours. One thing to be aware of (at least on OUR tour: our last evening in Israel brought us to the Carmel winery for our farewell dinner. The table was LOADED with wonderful food, and we partook heartily. NOBODY TOLD US THESE WERE APPETIZERS!!! So, after stuffing ourselves, we had no choice but to loosen our belts and dig in to the main course! Forewarned is forearmed!!! Another suggestion, if I may: get a little Hebrew phrase book and learn a few phrases. While not being able to engage in actual conversation, I thoroughly enjoyed being able to say Good Morning, Good Evening, How Much Does This Cost, I Don't Speak Hebrew - Do You Speak English.
Just spotted this video on UA-cam, and it was very helpful to us, as we are planning to do a cruise to the Holy Land this coming November, and your tips were very helpful. Not sure I can take as much as you packed, but we will be aware of the heat of the sun. Didn't realize it was that hot in the late fall and winter months.
First, you provided excellent suggestions to bring on my future tip to the Holy Land Trip for this September 2023. Where did you buy your bodycross bag? What is the is the name brand. What are it's measurements? Can't find your Lemsip in California. Where can I find it? How much did you paid for the scarf? That way I won't over pay. What hiking pole do you recommend? Great job. I will check on the light dress you suggested. Thank you so much!
I'm so glad you liked these ideas and they are helpful as you plan your trip. The bag is a Kipling bag, about 12 x 9 inches. I'm in Australia, so I'm not sure about Lemsip in the US. Sorry, I honestly don't remember how much anything else cost. As for the hiking pole, I only needed it for when we did a serious hike or walk. I noticed a nifty retractable cane at the chemist the other day. They seemed light and compact to slip in a bag. Maybe more useable at anytime during your tour. Have a wonderful trip. I know you will love going to the Holy Lands.
The one thing that I wish we would’ve taken one unit Israel was some antibiotics because when we went into the dead sea I ended up with a UTI. I want to go back to Israel so bad it’s like I hunger for it.
You're very welcome. The cross body bag is a Kipling bag, about 12 x 9 inches. I found it at a bag shop - however, I do think you may be able to find it online. The backpack was from Kathmandu. Have a wonderful trip. I know you will love it!
At the tourist places, they have facilities. However, our sons did one of the many hiking trails for over a week and they had to work all that it out for themselves. And they had a great time!
Thanks for the tip. We are going for the first time for 11 days in March 2023. To minimize clothes to pack, do you think it would be a good idea to do laundry there once or twice? Were you able to do laundry during your trip to Israel?
I'm pretty sure we had a few loads washed by the hotel and did a bit of handwashing in the bathroom basin too. I'm so excited you are getting to go! Enjoy!
Thank you Liz - glad you found this helpful. I really can't remember what make up I was wearing at the time. The secret is in the lighting. I had a huge hotel window with natural light and it's makes all the wrinkles disappear! :)

Israel basically has two temperature settings: hot and hotter. Hottest time is always July and August, but it can get very hot in May and October too, in particular when there is a hot wind from the south (hamsin) coming from Africa.

Howdy. I’m so excited for you. Honestly, I cannot think of more than what I covered in the clip. The only thing I can think of is if you see something in a shop that you like, go ahead and buy it as you may not come across that item again. I wish I had bought a widows mite necklace when I had the chance. Have a blessed time. 🙏🏼😊
!Israel is a historical site of the Bible, but it’s not the promise land! It’s where that story end ! The Jews lost there land an was ship across the water bound in shackles to be sold as a commodity! I’m part of a discussion with scholars who are Jewish who recognize that the religion was spread but the original ppl was shipped to America from must likely Africa! So are biggest discussion is , is America the promise land ! An if you was to acknowledge the black ppl as being the chosen of the Bible, then that would make America the promise land! Either way I recognize Israel as a holy sight! I happy to see the old ways didnt get erased completely! Dna holds the truth , an truly the story of the Bible never stopped! We are living the next chapter right as we speak! Guess we will no when they rebuild the temple!🙏🏾🙏🏼🙏🏾

can i know places u visited
Curiosity how is it hotter in October and can you share temperatures?
I actually don’t know. But in 2018 it was definitely hot in May, but very hot in October.
Israel basically has two temperature settings: hot and hotter. Hottest time is always July and August, but it can get very hot in May and October too, in particular when there is a hot wind from the south (hamsin) coming from Africa.
How much money is appropriate to bring to Israel?
That’s a difficult question. So much depends on what you are planning to do and buy.
@@WrightIdeaswithSusan oh gotcha and I guess I have no idea of that either besides having a tour guide showing us the places of Jesus. I don't know what to expect lol I suppose I'll just save what I can and go from there lol
Howdy from Houston, Texas. Wife and I leaving 4/16-5/5/22, traveling to Egypt, Jordan and Israel. Please any additional advice or tips? How cold does it get at night? Thanks.

Someone should advise you, besides Mosques and churches there are SYNAGOGUES.
Oh yes, definitely. Our tours had a specific itinerary and I only had footage of ancient ruins of some synagogues.
Money! Israel is very expensive everywhere.
Please speak louder!
Israel is abeautiful arabic land of palestine
Viva israel🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
