In November 2022, University of Idaho students, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen were found stabbed to death in the small American college town of Moscow, Idaho. It is the town's first homicide in seven years.
Finding no forced entry into the house, the investigation fails to bring up any obvious suspects, with the police unable to find a motive for the quadruple murders.
Soon, true crime sleuths and internet detectives started digging for information, posting their own theories online. The case racked up nearly two billion views on TikTok worldwide.
‪@zaranicolemcdermott‬ , like millions of people all over the world, became obsessed with the case and scoured social media looking for clues and theories as to what happened.
Zara heads to Moscow to find out how much of what she saw online was even real, and how much was pure speculation. Here, she meets Jonathan Lee Richards, a self-proclaimed investigative reporter and true crime sleuth who has built a large following from filming hours of content around this case.
