@@MakeOutWithTJ ive heard stories of the tablet devices that are used do this sim swapping services have been robbed from the phone shops. The sim swappers have roughly 10 minutes or so before getting locked out of the device which is more than enough time for them. Being nice and talking or treating someone like a human is a weak thing to do, it's the manly thing to do. Doesn't make you his best friend. If Kool kids treated those loners better others would see that and give them a chance as a friend. Haha, I feel you! But trust me, starting with $23k is already a great place to be. It's all about the slow, steady grind. No shortcuts, unless you want to end up like this guy... in court. But I believe the main reason for this is that not everyone got enough money to afford a second phone...

@@TheDankShrimp We are talking about a man that runs a tech company with $5 million in a single crypto wallet and the rest of his wallets weren't even hit. He can easily afford a second phone. It is people like him I'm talking about.
Also, honestly if someone can't afford 2 phones, no scammer is going to waste his time on them so they can rest easy. A cheap second hand phone which costs less than $50 and the most basic phone plan available should be a worthwhile investment if you have over $100,000 in savings like the guys in the video.

SIM swapping is a social engineering exploit. The weakness is the people, so using a separate phone has the same weakness as there is a human (an employee at company X) who you can convince to give you the phone number, and now you have the exact same problem as in the video.
You should be advocating for physical key (ie YubiKey) as a 2FA (instead of a phone) with no way to recover if you don’t have the physical key. You should advocate for a bank or services in general that support physical keys. Bank of America, Google, vanguard, iCloud all support physical keys, but most people don’t know this. This is way more secure than a separate phone.
It’s normal and expected for the average person to not know this, since you yourself didn’t know enough about security enough to know having a separate phone is just a band aid over the problem.

Joel participated in a $7.5 mill heist and got a 10 year prison sentence (will likely get out a year early on good behavior so 9 years). Most people would serve a 10 year prison sentence if it meant they’d be $7.5 mill richer afterwards. That’s basically making $800K/year to spend in a prison which beats any working 9 to 5 job. The sheer amount Joel stole, I’d say he’s lucky to be in a country like USA that gives light sentence for white collar crime and theft. Vietnam will issue the death penalty for that kind of theft. If you get rich quick, never EVER dress like him. Dress classy like old money, you'll blend more and will be left alone and even be feared. Don't go to clubs, or parties... Go to casinos (legit money laundering), buy property (outside the US of course), travel and try to get 2 or 3 passports (some only cost 150K). Being young doesn't mean you have to be stupid.

To protect yourself from SIM swapping attacks, use multi-factor authentication with a FIPS-compliant hardware security key, which is immune to SMS hijacking and provides security for your accounts and cryptocurrencies.
Using any hardware security key for multi-factor authentication can help protect against SIM swapping attacks. FIPS-certified keys are recommended because they meet stringent security standards, offering an additional layer of assurance and reliability.

In order to protect yourself from sim swapping, always:
    - keep your sim secured via a PIN code, most carriers allow you to set that
    - prefer 2FA via an authenticator app rather than through SMS codes.
