I have a Casablanca Panama 5 which too needed a new capacitor since it wouldn’t start at all. I had some fans that just spun slow before I replaced the capacitors, but my Panama 5 was my only fan which needed a new capacitor to even start.
Yeah it seems like the capacitor is the most likely cause of issues with fans not running. Saw your username and had to check out your channel. Had no idea there was an entire subculture for ceiling fans. Got a favorite one?
@@YoenoshYeah and last month I got two ceiling fans from a coffee shop, and one of them was extremely slow on high, much slower than most fans on low. The capacitor looked brand new, but replacing the capacitor made it much faster. The other one wasn’t nearly as slow but wasn’t quite as fast as the one with the new capacitor. So I replaced the capacitor on that one too and it went as fast as the other one.
@@Yoenosh Looked like the mounting plate was loose. You'd need to check the mounting at the rafters. The electrical box which the fan is attached to should not "wiggle"

Do you run like a ceiling fan business where you restore them and sell them or what?
@@Yoenosh I do collect ceiling fans and try to get vintage ones however I happened to usually find newer ones.
Antique stuff is typically higher quality so that’s understandable. I’m more impressed you have space to store all those fans.
Have a Hunter cat# 21636. Where is the fuse located? Fan won't turn on with pull chain, nor remote.
Not the capacitor. Fuse maybe?
Better fix that wobble, it will eventually cause a short or an electrical fire.
I wasn't sure how to actually fix the wobble. Do you have any suggestions? I'll admit I'm very uninformed when it comes to fan maintenance.
