Hi, do you know what 3 speed switch goes in the Hunter Eclipse 22561 fan? The switch has been replaced with the incorrect one and now the fan only runs on low. The original switch is gone. I'd be very grateful for the code or description!

My ceiling fan lights still work and I can see and hear when I turn the fan on, that it wants to spin but won't. Anything would be helpful.

Helpful. Never thought about the microfarads... Long time since I've worked with capacitors. Good to know the capacitor is what usually causes the fan to be stuck on one speed. Thanks.

if your fan suddenly decides to change speed without anyone touching the three speed switch, it's the capacitor, but I replaced my switch as well because they tend to wear out pretty easily.

It would have been helpful to see where on the fan to find these boxes. Do i have to completely pull the fan down to do this?

WHAT IF YOUR FAN WORKS ON LOW AND MEDIUM BUT NOT HIGH, WOULD THAT BE A CAPACITOR OR SWITCH REPLACEMENT?

I purchased 52” Larson Ceiling Fan with Light Kit from Home Depot in Montrose, CO and as I’m discovering by my research online, am experiencing a very common problem in that the light works, the fan motor makes a noise when the fan chain is pulled, but the fan blades refuse to turn.
I did discover that if I remove the fan blades and give the center a push with a finger, it will spin, but once I put the fan blades back on, it cannot run.
There is standard power in my home. The box in which I installed the fan is rated for a fan kit. I thought that maybe a wire had come loose when originally mounting so I disassembled the whole thing and reinstalled it using electrical tape to ensure that the wires were not able to come apart and then attaching the wire connectors that came with the kit.
I’ve installed 4 or 5 ceiling fans in my past residences and in family/friends homes so I’m not a noob when it comes to installation of lights and fan kits, so I’m perplexed as to why this installation has been a failure.
Is the fan defective? Is there something up with my homes electrical system? This is a very simple DIY project and so far nothing I’ve found online has been able to tell me what the problem is other than to direct me to this email address.
There is another Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan with Light Kit that was already installed in the living room when I moved in, so I didn’t think there would be a problem replacing the light in my bedroom with a fan.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

I have a fan that before the blades are installed the motor turns but once the blades are installed it hums but nothing turns.

  • @imboot7076
    @imboot7076 8 років тому +1

Two part question: Can a capacitor fail "slowly"? Can a failing capacitor cause the fan to hum?
I've had a decent Hunter fan in use for 20+ years. It is not on a dimmer. It has no remote. It is not on a circuit with another ceiling fan. All three speeds function. When newly installed it did not hum. However, it now has a significant hum. Could this be a problem-capacitor?

My fan won’t stop running. Control is on my wall. Control won’t shut off, change speed or turn on fan lights. Don’t want to buy controller or receiver and learn that wasn’t the issue. Suggestions? Also pulled only fan chain and won’t do anything. If I turn breaker back on, fan blades continue on.

@@debbielightfoot4762I’ve worked electronics as a career. The only way I know of is an LCR bridge. Won’t properly test w/ a digital meter. You can get an idea w/ an analog meter. It’s charging if the analog meter needle sweeps full scale on the voltage scale.

Sometimes a power surge can cause these capacitors to go bad and also another common issue is trying to stop it by hand or switching it to the other direction while it is running
