If Kevin Cronin knew about this he would definitely reach out. Kevin Cronin is just one of the nicest guys in rock music and still going strong today as soon as the pandemic is over. Actually he does Camp Cronin every week on UA-cam.
My old man literally went airborne in a ford ranger over railroad tracks, taking me to a little league football game when I was little and guess what was playing in the background hahaha
REO is one of those bands you rock out to when you're hanging with your friends. This is definitely one of the bands you have in the rotation at a cookout or a party. Jamel, you pick some great music to react to. Keep rockin' and keep great music alive.
If every artist could see the joy, energy, and respect you bring to their music then nobody would ever block you! Thank you for always keeping everything positive!
I'll be honest - I was waiting for this one!! My all-time favorite REO song, and genuitely believe it's one of the best (and dangerous) driving songs. :)
I REALLY like that cowbell, yup, needs more cowbell, Jamel needs to get him a cowbell to clang along . Even if there's no cowbell in the song cause it just needs some more cowbell!

This is one of my all-time favorite songs. The energy this song exudes is off the charts. Every instrument is on point, as is Kevin's vocals. Love this.
Besides hearing great music again, one of the best things about this channel is knowing what's coming and realizing Jamel has no idea what he's about to hear.
I remember when I first heard this song on the radio back in the day. It was first REO song that I had heard and is still my favorite!! Also my favorite album of theirs!! You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish!!
OH YES STYX......."Grand Illusion" "Renegade" any of these."Come Sail Away" will be played at my funeral. "Too much Time on My Hands" I could go on and on.
The smile on Jamel's face throughout most of the song says it all about his reaction to the song, no words needed. I thought of another REO song while watching this, Tough Guys. Tough Guys has some of the best/funniest lyrics ever written.
AHH! YES! REO is one of those bands that have so many great songs that it's hard to pick a favorite. This one, however, really is one of my very favorites by them! Great song!
Awesome reaction! REO SPEEDWAGON is one of my favorite bands out of the 70s( best decade ever). they used to come to town often or somewhere near me, but not so much lately. I've saw them several times in the 70s and would definitely pay to go see them again. hard to believe they've been playing rock and roll for 50 years and still going strong!
You putting up so many great videos today and every day...us enjoying your dancing, your reactions.....THAT is why you've gathered another 1000 subscribers!! It was reading 538K yesterday...look at it now! TY, sir!
What an anthem! This song came out when I was a teenager, and I'm almost 60. I can honestly say it has always been one of my top 5 favorite songs and I still listen to it regularly.
I'm 65 years old and listened to and played rock and roll for over 50 years... certain songs like this one can trigger so much emotion in me personally... thank you so much for listening and appreciating this performance with me....that band, this song, pure perfection... Top Ten All Time! yep and Amen.
This came out when I was in HS. To this day it is my all time favorite song - enjoyed watching you enjoy this song. We need more songs like this today that lifts your spirit and just make you feel good!
That's how we rocked back in the day, the concert I went to Kevin stopped the concert right in the middle of the song because someone was throwing sparklers from the top deck he said "cut that shit out or we'll stop right now!
Several have said it, but when that Hammond B3 organ hits, it's like a church organ, and the "Keep on Rollin/Keep on Rollin" sounds like a church choir. But it has the absolutely amazing Les Paul that sounds like the strings are on fire. One of REO's best songs.
My favorite REO song. It's been with me every time my life has changed, for better or worse. It's cathartic to me, and helps me let go of whatever attachment I'm feeling for whatever came before. Thank you very much for covering it, Jamel!
Here is a fun story about Kevin Cronin. We are from the same suburb in Chicago (Oak Lawn). When my dad was young he had a band and as everyone would say, "little Kevin Cronin" would come hang over the back fence and say, teach me how to play guitar! So my dad and his band would kind of laugh (not in a mean way, it's just that KC was so insistent). So "little Kevin" would hang out and learn how to play guitar. Yrs later my dad's band got an amazing record contract, but because they fought so bad between themselves they blew it. But a lot of great bands came out of the Chicago area around that time, REO, Styx, Cheap Trick. Years later after REO had made it big, Kevin always came back for Oak Lawn days, rode in the parade and was always very good to the community.
One of the most under-rated bands. They make such wonderful records. Critics treat them like some kind of bubble gum music studio band. If this is on in your car, better watch your foot on the accelerator!
Absolutely, positively and without a doubt, "Golden Country" on the double live album, "You Get What You Play For," is my all-time favorite REO recording. The lyrics and the music span the years and are so relevant today.
The whole song has a take-me-to-church feel to it. The vocals deliver the lyrics like an evangelist---he punches out certain words to emphasize his points, just like a power-and-glory preacher would. The choir-like harmony from the background singers, the organ solo and style, etc. all contribute to that "can i get a Hallelujah" feeling of being in a lively, uplifting church service. This is one of my all-time favourite songs.
There's not a time in my life that this song doesn't bring a smile to my face, but Jamel...your reaction is epic! You cracked me up when that organ took you higher and closer to the camera! So glad you enjoyed a song that I dedicate to myself on my birthday!!! xoxo
Jamel...Welcome to every summer of the 1980's! REO was an amazing band to watch live, and were always on our summer concert list! So many great memories seeing them live at Red Rocks outside of Denver. Memories of great times, and of friends who are no longer with us. This song brings goosebumps for the performance, and tears remembering my friends. Thanks for taking me back...
Love REO, one of my favorite bands of all time! Maybe just a suggestion another band from this era STYX, I know you have done a few of their songs but their library is extensive. I would love to see reactions to The Best of Times, Too Much Time on My Hands well really any of their stuff is great! 🎤🎶🎹🎶

DOG! Thank u so much for rockin this song I've requested more than a few times. What a scintillating rocker! So happy you liked what I've loved for decades now. There are about 10-15 songs I will never tire of, and this is one. No breaks necessary. I hear it now, and it is just as fresh as my first listen way back when.

REO has always had a great sound.just like their contempraries Journey and Foreigner...havent heard ya hit Scorpions yet ! might a suggest No One Like You - Scorpions..xoxo
Fresh outta basic training I went for training in Chanute, Illinois, just outside of REO’s hometown of Champaign. I immediately bought a small boom box and REO’s You Can Tune a Piano But You Can’t Tuna Fish and the other great record Nine Lives. I blasted those every day until I ended up overseas and was able to buy a much better stereo with Bose 901 speakers. High Infidelity and Springsteen’s The River came out and that’s pretty much what I played for awhile.
I just stumbled onto Jamal doin an REO search. I'm not able to stop smiling and singin along to the best song ever! Watchin this dude's natural and genuine appreciation and love of this song was inspiring!
I'm smiling the entire time watching 👀 ☺ your reaction. REO was my obsession during middle school and high school. Class of 85. Saw them and Journey, of course, live back in the day.
'Loved watching your reaction to Roll With The Changes! '60 yr old white dude here. 'Have seen REO perform this song live multiple times. This song is quietly becoming my all-time favorite...well, maybe, 2nd to...can't even say it (Southern Rock 'N Roll Respect...about stairways...I am a one-time, public school teacher of Little Lee). My insight into music is mainly from a guy noted in Appetite For Dysfunction, by Vicky Hamilton...who attributes her knowledge from this guy as well. In other words...love this song...love your reaction. Why is our country falling apart?...find this one...The Monkey's Michael Nesmith - Cruisin'
Now, imagine watching those dudes live, they were just unbelievable, amazing. By those dudes I mean the lineup they were famous for in the late seventies and eighties. I was lucky enough to have watched them three times in concert
The lead guitarist, Gary Richrath (RIP) was a great player and underrated. He is often overlooked. If you want to hear his ability, listen to "The Flying Turkey Trot" from their first live album, "Live: You Get What You Play For!" This was released in 1977, before REO mellowed out some and began releasing lighter songs that Kevin Cronin (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) wrote. Gary Richrath ended up quitting the band in 1989 over artistic differences.
I have always loved this song, great message, lyrics, instrumentals, arrangements... I am still amazed with Kevin's vocals...I can't imagine all written into the score...unique and impressive...sounds so good, great energy!!!
I can and have listened to this song multiple times in a row in the car on the highway for many years and it never gets old. Listening to it with Jamel is like listening to it for the first time. His reaction makes you feel so good, he should bottle it and sell it. As someone that suffers from major depression, to sit here, listening and smiling with Jamel's reactions, I am grateful for him. Jamel, you are an amazing blessing my friend. Never change.
I hadn't listened to early REO in a long time and a few weeks ago I got back into it! I relearned why I fell in love with their music and especially Neal's keyboards!
Deen Castronovo sang it just as well, AND played drums at the same time. It's a shame he had "issues" but I'm glad he is sober now. ua-cam.com/video/-gomgFZsG-0/v-deo.html
Kevin Cronan on vocals and piano alongside Gary Richrath on lead guitar this band was heaven. This is my favorite song by REO Speedwagon. This is the one and only song from my teenage years that I actually blast the radio when it comes on. My all-time favorite and it broke my heart when Gary split with the band. The feeling he put into his guitar work hits me right in my soul now as it did back then.
I know it wasn't released as a single, but my favorite song by REO Speedwagon was, is, and always will be Wish You Were Here from their Hi Infidelity album.
Great reaction! I just subscribed and I’m enjoying this. REO is one of the bands I HAVEN’T seen in concert but had quite a few of their albums. What I like about the construction in this song is that when one section finishes there is another getting ready to take over and continue and all of them bring something to the song (vocals-keys-guitar-backgrounds-ect)

Jamel is exactly the person artists want to listen to their songs. The respect he has for every aspect of a great song is amazing.
Yeah their stuff was great until the 80s sellout. Then came the second worst LP release ever (High Infidel)..... Slow Hand edges it out by a hair.
Jamel seems to truly want to share his obvious love of good music to anyone and everyone. We feel it brother loud and clear. So much respect.
There is a 21 year old up-and-comer that does reactions to a lot of songs similarly, Jay Rah Vision Room is hos UA-cam handle.
If Kevin Cronin knew about this he would definitely reach out. Kevin Cronin is just one of the nicest guys in rock music and still going strong today as soon as the pandemic is over. Actually he does Camp Cronin every week on UA-cam.
MistiAnne Locke i really like that song, but not any of their other songs.
A screaming Les Paul Guitar, a scorching Hammond b-3 organ, Kevin Cronin's voice, And Jamel. HELL YEAH!

Can I add 100 upvotes?
Don't forget the Smashing Drums and Thumping Bass baby!!!
Jamel now is part or REO...just love it
And the gospel choir!
Gary Richrath is criminally underrated as a guitarist. Truly shred on the double live album.
Bones Jackson yes, one of the best!
Couldn't agree more.
He is surely missed.
To the Ab-So-lute...!!!
He should watch the video of them playing this song. Just seeing Gary play at the same time gives you a completely wonderful feeling.

@@Lwize ..Apparently the humor in the album title flew over your head.....
@@RM-ks8pp Are we talking flying fish now?
Still hoping or Ten Years After “I’d Love To Change The World”. Studio version with lyrics would be best.
Same! Love that song!
YES.....great song. A favorite of mine.
That song by ten years after is ICONIC
Choo Choo Mama
I'm Going Home
I knew you’d love this when someone suggested it a while back! Church organ!!!! You’re so delightful! And I love REO SO MUCH!
Gary Richrath, the most criminally underrated monster player in rock history
Now, imagine watching those dudes live, they were just unbelievable, amazing. By those dudes I mean the lineup they were famous for in the late seventies and eighties. I was lucky enough to have watched them three times in concert
Loved this album, the cover, & the title.
Check out their live version at Red Rocks where they team up with Chicago. Crazy good!
Red Rocks. Best venue ever, right up there with George, Washington. Saw BB King at Red Rocks, third row center. What a class act.
I have always loved this song, great message, lyrics, instrumentals, arrangements... I am still amazed with Kevin's vocals...I can't imagine all written into the score...unique and impressive...sounds so good, great energy!!!
This and "Riding the Storm Out" are two of their best three. The other is "Golden Country". I recommend the live version.
REO made a ton of great music that is so underrated.
I'll add "Keep Pushin On" along with those three!
Golden Country is REOs' best song. It truly speaks of todays' goings on. It is from 1974 I think.
I hadn't listened to early REO in a long time and a few weeks ago I got back into it! I relearned why I fell in love with their music and especially Neal's keyboards!
This is my favorite song of all time! So glad to hear you check this out. Thank you!
Love that you love this song! Please do Journey's "Mother Father" -live from Houston-Steve Perry's best vocal PERFORMANCE-HANDS down!!❤️
Deen Castronovo sang it just as well, AND played drums at the same time. It's a shame he had "issues" but I'm glad he is sober now.

"Don't Let Him Go",,, REO
Thank you for visiting the music of my youth...I wish more young people like yourself would explore some of the great music from back in my days!!!!
