Christian continues to show people why he’s one of the most under appreciated and underrated wrestlers of all time pulling out one of the best matches Omega has ever had in AEW. Seeing that moment of him with the impact titles after 15 years ago he won the NWA World title is just so satisfying to see for a fan like me whos watched him for years. Good for Christian, I’m glad he went to AEW over WWE after seeing this match and post match
I really don't get what people like about Main Event Christian. I never thought he was that entertaining. I liked him as a midcarder, and for me he will always be a midcarder. I don't think he moves like a main eventer, he doesn't have the looks of a main eventer, his moves look kinda sloppy, like that frog spash, doesn't even come close to RVD's or Eddie Guerrero's frog splash. I like his promo's, but I just don't think he is main event material.
this is how badly pro wrestling is this day, when you can think Christian can pull out one of the best matches of Omega in AEW. Cmon! Christian is a solid mid card guy but he is sorely lacking in main event. Hes the default main event guy when theres nothing better to offer! Christ Almighty...

Some people may not like the way omega wrestles in his matches, but the guy knows when to slow it down and take it up. Omega is one of the hardest working wrestlers right now. Just been on dynamite, impact, rampage and left to go to AAA the next day after rampage and still nursing injuries while doing all this. I'm not brainwashed with what jim says about omega I give omega all hats off no matter who says what.
I normally hate Omega matches but this was one of the better matches in AEW history so far. A large part of that is due to Christian getting Kenny to work a proper style.
@@GeorgeCostanza00 Yeah to that I'll agree he was distracted long enough for the Young Bucks to come in and hand Omega a chair, then Christian reversing the One Wing Angel into a Killswitch and only after he hit it then the referee is no longer distracted. Funny enough, Corny said the same thing, he doesn't give a shit if Omega discovers the cure for cancer because of the matches with the blow up doll and little girl.

I'll agree the booking and finish justification were the most basic beginner and straight forward they could be, but the match itself was probably one of the most enjoyable I've seen in AEW. The 3rd move wasn't a dive to the outside followed by 10 minutes of around the ring brawling. If nothing else I consider that a win. For my money, I expected Moose to be the one to win the impact belt off omega. Contracted talent taking the title home and a star getting exposure and elevation to a bigger crowd. The 6 man tag with Moose and Omega was the best I've see from either of them back in like May. Definitely feels like a missed opportunity.
He'll keep the title until BFG and will drop it to someone there so they won't have to deal with Impact anymore unless they're still gonna have Gallows and Anderson show up with Kenny every Wednesday
Yes Christian Cage coming out retirement and once again winning a world title is perhaps one of the greatest comeback stories and pro wrestling history!
I usually agree with JC, but my only complain was the ref being distracted for almost a full minute at the end. Not an Omega fan, but the way he sold Christian's finisher at the end was pretty cool.
He never said Kelly can't wrestle, in fact he's a good seller. It really boils down to Kelly really wanting to do HIS stuff, thus making him look like an artist doing wrestling.

Jim does have a good argument. Regardless of all the finger-pointing, it was an unusual ending and that loss could have helped a lot more AEW Talent than it could Cage. Cage is a HOF, there's very little those titles can do to help his career than if Jungle Boy had won it.

When Omega was walking out, I couldn't help thinking, "He needs to lose tonight just to get some of those belts off of him". He looked like a hoarder, being weighed down by his collection. And, no, I never thought that Christian would win the AEW belt. Jim said: "He lost somebody else's belt". That's the best summary of this.
Aside from Jim cornette, its really smart. Christian being already a made superstar put a bit of prestige to those titles. They need to push Christian and Omega still needs to look strong, so by having Christian win and leaving the aew title to omega you put both belts in high standard. The way i see it, either Punk or Bryan will take the belt off him. I doubt it will be Punk since he isn't fresh and has been off for 7 years. So he will work with another star and it will be Bryan who gets to work a program with Omega. Leading to the Bryan vs Punk match later on
I agree with Jim that it wasn’t the smartest way to hand Omega a loss, but it was an entertaining match and Christian Cage still looked good. I think it was a way to put Christian over as a star in the territory without taking the AEW belt from Omega. Just my opinion. Personally, I think AEW is much better than WWE at the moment; and I’ve been watching wrestling for over 30 years.
Jim didn’t hate the match. He hated that the match took place, and had this result. The champion got beat and lost his belt. Takes the shine off the whole thing.
I saw a few clips and tbh, Flair's chops looked much better than those sad slaps from his TNA run (though the bar was set so low...). He's probably in much better shape I guess, but he damn sure looked better. Still needs to not step foot in the ring again.
I think Jim Cornette overthinks booking too much sometimes, everything doesn't always have to make sense for long term booking, sometimes having an unpredictable moment like having your champion lose his title unexpectedly makes it look more like a legitimate sport and makes it more exciting when you know it's at least a possibility something unexpected can happen than following predictable scripts. My interpretation of the match and the promo Christian did(Christian said "i can only imagine how much harder i'm going to have to work to beat you for your other title" was it was burying the Impact title that Kenny lost, like he could have kicked out and fought harder to retain it but it was just the Impact title and not one of the ones he actually cares about so he just decided to live to fight another day. It makes sense really, i am not the greatest at explaining it, i wouldn't risk getting injured to keep a title of lesser prestige either especially when he is carrying multiple at a time that he needs to be ready to defend. I like Kenny Omega, sure some of the stuff he does is silly, that's just him having fun, his character is like he has split personality; his outside the ring stuff is silly but he gets in the zone in the ring in matches and is brutal delivering running knees to the back of the head of people and such.
I think Jim knows about booking. You are listening to his show not him listening to yours. The guy knows wrestling he's been in wrestling for more than 30 years. Nothing g on AEW makes it look like a real sport. If it makes sense it makes it look real. And hot shoting a title change doesn't make it seem real.

Secondly, anything that isn't abhorrent and goes opposite of the WWE conditioning/programming wired in our heads is a godsend as far as I'm concerned.
Just like omega won last night at Triplemania because AEW didn’t want him to lose to Andrade though that was the finish penciled in and let the belt collector run angle end.
Have him do more proper matches like this one with Christian, and I'll be better for him than any of those no dq or spotfest matches, also Jim's right with him losing like that on free tv.
Kenny was great in NJPW. He excelled in a worker’s promotion filled with amazing workers. Outside of NJPW we get a free Kenny without someone who is there to keep him straight and in order. I liked the match layout and Omega ACTUALLY taking a loss and dropping the belt to Christian. I knew AEW wanted to somehow, some way, make Christian look like at least a half ass threat to Omega’s AEW title at the PPV, but I didn’t expect this. I figured Christian would get the majority of the offense and have Omega reeling on the ropes and bewildered. I also figured the Bucks or Good Bros would get involved with Callis and screw Christian over after Christian gets multiple pins that would have been 1-2-3 if not for the interferences. But I’m gladly surprised that AEW swerved me with the Bucks run in and Christian turning the tables on the Elite. Job well done, AEW.

The two belts make sense. Impact is an enjoyable part of this universe that’s formed in front of our eyes.
@Eugene Kendrick Moose brought back the TNA belt when he was feuding against then Impact Champion Rich Swann. Rich Swann beat Moose in the unification match but Impact didn’t dissolve the TNA Belt itself (yet). Perhaps Christian will officially merge the belts into one. Kenny probably kept the belts separate to make his Belt Collector gimmick look more accurate.

Also I agree with the NJPW Kenny sentiment. I was legit hoping Kenny could carry that momentum heading into AEW, but after DoN 2019, or I think Fyter Fest 2019, Kenny has fallen off the radar for me. I'm glad I was a fan him during his IWGP Heavyweight Championship run.
So yeah long story other way to interpret this thing short stuff is, when left to their own devices, yeaaaaah hit or miss. And that considering mostly via Cody I assume we have some key legends like Arn, DDP, Henry, and Big Show onboard who could've helped steered AEW in a more sensible refined version of 2000s WWE in their own interpretation but nope.
It was a really good match. Cornette is just sad here.
Jim is always sad. He's knows he's OLD asf !
@Zaus... And that's sad.
It was a meaningless title win though. Christian could get 5 more titles, it still wouldn't change his HOF status. Meanwhile Jungle Boy has been there from the beginning, and young, and is still treated like a lesser talent. That is bad booking.
@@shindean nah, instead, IMO, Christian can lose to an IMPACT wrestler without losing his HOF status. Not the perfect booking, but it was a last moment decision due to Page forfait.
@Zaus You can't be serious. This is shit. Jim worked when wrestling was actually significant. AEW is a joke.
Oh Jim.. the match was good, the crowd was good and the finish was brilliant. Omega could do the best match in history and Jim would stay hate it. Its obviously personal and makes Jim sound petty sometimes.
Dude but at least dont do it on AEW so your champion is still undefeated in Dynamite/Rampage. UNDEFEATED WHERE IT COUNTS. If you wanna make him drop one belt at least do it in an Impact show instead so your heel champion can blame it on that promotion's officials. Knock the referee down and then make D'Amore do a run in for the pinfall over the outsider.
@@renatocontrerasflores294 what no...! That shit is exactly what makes wrestling predictable, it was an underdog (with a big following of fans) way past his prime beating supposedly the best in the world 1 on 1 for a belt. Its a gift to the fans without Kenny losing his main belt. It doesn't make him look weak by losing to a veteran who obviously still has it.
@@callumpalmer3258 He still got it? He never lost it to begin with! Christian is a good worker dont get me wrong but this doesnt put him over at all. This certainly doesnt bury omega by any mean but its not helping him to look any better. Specially is we are booking for a smark audience.
@@renatocontrerasflores294 I completely disagree.. it did get him over. Its not really a smark audience though is it? That's maybe what Jim thinks but what he thinks ain't gospel! AEW have simply targeted fans who like to see crazy talented stuff in the ring, where as Jim and the majority of his followers simply like the older bad guy/good guy story shit that's been done to many times and what people kind of expect from wrestling.
The wrestling industry is dying slowly and all the promotions are trying to adapt to it and evolve. But the main problem is no one wants to see people pretend fight today, its not bad booking or bad stars its just modern times. AEW is catering to those who still want to watch, WWE is catering to children who are obviously a lot more curious. Alot of these comments are from people who say they hate wrestling today ect ect but still chose to comment and watch podcasts on todays wrestling. These people need to get a grip and climb out there mums basement or simply admit to wanting to be included on the band wagon.
Kenny did do the great match ever with okada three times no rock, stone cold, or hogan would ever have a match close to as good as Kenny vs okada
As much as I don’t like omega I enjoyed the match happy for Christian
Jim always used to talk about the 700 thousand hardcore AEW fans. Now it's 800 thousand to 1 million.
Even as a fan of AEW, I see the company like this: I like point A and I like point B, and I tolerate the journey between the two
I agree, it does happen, but more often even the journey is fun. But some journeys are not so fun. :D Overall still the best wrestling-product overall. Likeable people.
LMAO even when Kenny does something Jim would like, Jim will ALWAYS find a way to hate it. I love how everything that Jim thought was good about this match, he needs to emphasis that he "knows" Christian was behind it and it was Christian's idea lol.
Christian surely brought something to the table but it takes 2 to tango. They worked together (no one leading) and they had chemistry in there.
Kenny Omega is a great wrestler despite the "self training" and all that.
The match was good and jim is just forcibly finding a reason to complain simply because it's omega. Grow up jim
I like how the Impact champion has the old TNA belt as well. It's like the old All Japan Triple Crown.
9:09 _“...AEW fans probably leave [watching] AEW happy more than WWE fans...”_ True
9:32 _“The week-to-week booking leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t think it’s very good.”_ Also true
Sonny kiss could shit in the ring and aew marks will still leave watching aew happy. Aew marks love everything about aew while wwe marks hate everything.
Set aside your hate for once, Corny. This was a good and entertaining match.
He can have a different opinion! I like corny and I liked the finish.
The two put on a great match, Cornette just stuck in the past and holds petty grudges
It's because he's a Virgo,
Jim would have enjoyed this match more if there was a ninja turtle in it
Love how people bring this up and have no clue about any of it.
Dang I feel bad for Jim cause literally no one agrees with him on this one. I haven’t watched the match but sometimes the characters matter. Christian Cage becoming Impact/TNA Champion makes sense.
I agree with Jim that Kenny’s first loss as champion should have been to Page
I wouldn't say that literally no one agrees with Cornette on this because i happen to agree with him.
Literally? I'm not sure that word means what you think it does.
@@decepticonxhunter4850 excuse me for using hyperbole of the English language without your permission
If this is step 1 of a program to put the title back on a member of the Impact roster, it makes more sense to have one of their guys go over on Cage than Danielson or Punk.
Did Tony Khan call you to tell you that?

I gotta agree with Cornette. I was shouted down for pointing out that others in the Impact canon could have benefitted from that win instead of Christian.
AEW has to be paying Cornette for this anger (I hope). Numbers look to have gone up, so Jim's wrong that no-one will pay to see it. He could have given credit that Omega did a great bump on that chair and that Christian didnt beat him, fair.
Someone will pay to see it, the AEW fans that like this kind of stuff. They’ll pay to see anything this company does, literally someone could fart in a microphone and the crowd would lose say that was the best fart in professional wrestling. Just like WWE, AEW has a blind fanbase that will cheer literally anything.

The "Cheap Pop" take is spot on.
Nothing AEW could do booking wise, will devalue these wrestlers in the eyes of their fans. Omega could cobble up piles of shit into mannequin and wrestle it and their fans will still look at him as a good wrestler. They can't grow their audience and they can't lose the one they have.

This is were Cornette's blind hatred for Omega makes him not like a really good match. Besides the Miro match, this and the Britt match were really good.
You don't know what the phrase "blind hatred" means. Cornette has explained why he dislikes Omega in great detail over and over - and from his old-school point of view the logic behind it makes perfect sense. You don't have to agree with his stance that he will never give Omega another chance, considering all of the dumb, embarrassing crap some of his heroes have been involved with over the years, Lawler and Flair in particular, but there's nothing "blind" about it.
Personally, everything Omega says and does in front of a camera looks unbelievable (not the "awesome" kind of unbelievable) and totally fake to me. He's like the most blatantly phony used car salesman on the lot. I expect him to go into one of those 1920's silent movie comedy "boxing stances" at any moment. He moves as if he's auditioning for a spot as a Pet Shop Boys background dancer, not like somebody in a combat sports contest.
Everybody here jizzes themself because a WWE veteran apparently (I haven't watched it yet) got one somewhat decent match out of him? These are the standards now?
@@henrygvidonas9573 Like I said it's a decent match, one of the better Omega matches. Cornette can't see that because he hates the guy, sure Omega's movements and facial expressions look a little off but he's had decent matches and Cornette refuses to acknowledge the guy when he does. He's done it with Riho and some others.
He's also wished death on the guy so yes his hatred for him is blind.
It was a great match because he wrestled a veteran who knows what he's doing.
Omega fanboys have come to defend their GOD. Good for Christian though, even though it's the title of the company he left years ago.
Eh. It's the end of oméga run as champion. I can't wait to see hangman taking the title away from him at full gear (he won't lose the title at all out there is no way)
This is a side of Omega I have never heard. Cornette ate him like a savage and I’m here for every minute of it!
