I love how Jim is upset that people aren't trying to stab and shoot and murder wrestlers anymore when they go into the crowd, but at the same time he's offended that the crowd now chants dirty words.
I understand what he's saying. It's like you are telling a bully I hate you instead of you punching him and defending yourself. You hitting them will make them know how much you hate them and that you won't be messed about. That's the whole mentality of heat against a heel.
It's not impressive because it's not true I'm friends with his cousin and he said Kenny is lying about the injuries. He's mad at Tony for taking creative control
Fan don't want to attack wrestlers. Hmm, idk Jim.. maybe cuz we know it's a work. Isn't it better that we chant and participate than physically attack wrestlers like an idiot.
No he's saying wrestling today has no real heat because of the wrestler's/booking. He isnt wrong. No one goes to a movie knowing the ending.. Just saying. I don't wanna be a conspiracy theorist but I think Meltzer "reported" those 2 "injuries" to get some sympathy for Kenny. Vertigo and a shoulder injury really? That topé would be bad for him and also taking a OWA by Page.

@@michaelsuezo Omega won’t be on AEW TV for a while, getting shoulder assessed this week, on Wednesday, and yes he has been suffering with vertigo. @@michaelsuezo Meltzer didn’t report it. He’s had a torn labrum for a year that he never got surgery for, his shoulder has been jacked up for a while it’s obvious since he’s had only 6 title defenses in a year and besides the Alan Angels match didn’t wrestle a singles match for close to 2 months. He’s been using those 8 man tags to still work but let the bucks and Cole do most of the work while he’s banged up. I’d be shocked if he wrestles another match in AEW before March
Yes Corny as a 30 year old, I can totally buy a group of good friends falling out and an apology helping to smooth things over. It makes the good guy look like a real man. And why would CM Punk or Bryan Danielson come out to lift Hangman up? Dark Order are Hangman’s friends. They’re also not competing for the world title. It would be silly for a bunch of main event stars to come out to be the guys that pick the real star up. That’s like when WWE does the “town halls” and every member of the roster but the big names like Roman Reigns, Brock, John Cena are present. Dark Order are mid-carders at best. That makes a lot more sense for them
😂😂😂... Ive never seen this type of lame shit. But its obvious you are AEW 🎯 audience. Nothing wrong with that. For me as a neutral watcher the slaps and finger pokes were a bit boring. Other wise pretty cool segment. The apology nod schtick was lame IMO
@@MaskedAvenger13 most guys don't watch AEW they listen to Cornette, who fast forwards most of the time and doesn't pay attention. Then he says things in AEW happen out of nowhere and his fans repeat it. I respect Jim but its sad how many people wait for him to say something to form their own opinions.
His point is that it’s a work, and you did not, in fact, have to have Page be best buddies with the job guys. I have political commitments that make that actually pleasant to me, but he’s operating from a (probably quixotic) framework wherein a return to certain booking best practices could draw in lapsed fans and younger people who might not like wrestling as it is now, where it often feels like bad dinner theater or sketch comedy, but would like it if it were presented more straightforwardly. I think he’s wrong, wrestling is pretty much doomed to stay a niche thing in a world where MMA shows that “real fights” look like octopuses trying to crack a coconut, but “Adam Page would be more credible as a top guy if he’d been built to do cool shit and associated with other guys at or above his level instead of the job guys” is hardly some unfathomable criticism.
2:05 but this is exactly why people like Page so much. He’s a human being who actually got better, beat his problems and worked toward becoming a main eventer. If he had been presented this way from the beginning he would’ve just been another generic face in the main event title picture, but here he has an actual story surrounding him.
Finally the AEW World Championship belt changed hands. Hangman Adam Page deserved the belt. I hope Miro becomes Champion at some stage. Great main Event Match

It's funny when Cornette seems to yearn for the days of the 70s and 80s when wrestlers got real heat as if someone being willing to physically attack a wrestler is better and more desirable than the crowd chanting Fuck You lmao
Seems to forget if it happened today there would be a million cell phone videos of it on the internet and the police would soon be catching who did it :P
Watch mixed martial arts if you want REAL and serious. I watch prowrestling to be entertained! Period. Whether you me laugh, cry, seethe or whatever emotional rollercoaster you take me on, I'll watch. AEW lately has been crushing it.
The dudes desire to see the fans attack the wrestlers literally goes against everything he was saying back when the dude tried to rush the ring when Jericho and MJF were in it lol. The dude said he did it for Cornette and Cornette went off talking about how he would never encourage fans to attack wrestlers. Then he sits here talking about guys have nobody has any heat because the fans aren't attempting to murder the wrestlers lol. The Mjf-Darby fight was the same thing, he was upset that Mjf was in the crowd and nobody tried to stab him lmao.
I've been a fan of prowrestling since I was 10 in 1994. The minute I saw it I knew it was fake. But i still liked it. I've been in many fights in elementary school and a real fight resembles an mma fight a sloppy uncoordinated mma fight. I remember I tried a stunner on someone in a real fight thinking hey it might work and all it did was made me turn my back on my opponent and got me locked in a head lock. So learn it's all bullshit. Then you take real martial arts and learn what works what doesnt. Thai boxing and BJJ is as close to real as you can get. Both of which I've learned. But I still respect prowrestling. If I could turn back time I'd try to be either a prowrestler or mma fighter, but football was my sport. Injured my back in high school. It never recovered fully. I waited until I was 30 to get surgery on it. I have an artificial disc in my back at my L5 S1. It worked. But I went all through our my 20s in bad pain and limited with my movements. Like for the most part I'm ok, then one simple movement like bending over to pull up my pants, BOOM, I'm in agonizing pain for 10 days. Not even oxycodone helps. So that's when I finally decided surgery after many years of dealing with that shit. And there goes my physical prime. I'm 36 now and been good for 6 years, wish I never got injured. I could have been a great running back. I could run a 4.6 at 200lbs.
Dusty didn't lose a loser leave town match in 1988. Tully Blanchard attacked Magnum T.A. Rhodes came to Magnum's defense with a baseball bat. Jim Crockett Jr. tried to break up the altercation. I got to say the storytelling here was pretty damn good. I didn't know anything about Adam page when aew started because I just didn't watch New Japan Ring of Honor or anything other than WWE to the point where I was just sick of wrestling because WWE had gotten so bad. by the end of this I sympathized with Adam page so much so that it felt so good to see him win the title. also it felt even better to see him celebrate with his friends after the match. in my eyes it felt like a new star was born and it was a guy that has gone through so much and deserves this.
Idk if Jim would read the comments but I do want to give my two cents on this segment. It's great hearing praise for both of these guys, especially after a hard fought match. The point though on Hangman's booking for the last year or so and especially associating with the Dark Order. To us in the younger demographic, just seeing Hangman being down on his luck and obviously struggling, with the drinks and just tagging with the Dark Order, it felt like something that would really happen to us. It felt believable especially for us. Drinking away, trying to run away from people who had your back and more second guessing felt believable. We could definitely see someone we know or even us being in a similar position. Especially after he took a leave for the birth of his child, that just added more to him being someone we want to support. We understand that some parts of modern wrestling is bad and there's stuff that we can both agree and disagree on. I just wanted to say a bit of a piece about Hangman's journey now and how we got invested. Great hearing what you thought about the ppv Jim!
I personally think Hangman’s story was more or less perfect. The only real blemish was losing the 10 man tag. I think they should have done the ladder match first. Lose that. And then win the 10 man tag. But it also wouldn’t work because of Omega being in the match. And with hindsight we know that the partnership with TNA has ended. This was great. Hangman went from “not ready” to bring the biggest baby face in the company. A company that has Omega, Punk, Bryan, Moxley, etc.
@@SpaceViking2000 Well, they used the 10 man tag to screw Hangman over like he screwed over the Youngbucks earlier. It also gave fans a chance to miss him and a chance for the evil champ look strong as first.
@@1MyNickname1 I agree, but I also think that wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for the birth of his child. Again. It’s all in hindsight now. They probably would have done something different now that I think about it since Omega would have had to be removed from the match somehow.
Yeah, Jim doesn’t quite understand how alienation and mental health problems are the defining issue for younger generations raised in late capitalism. At the same time, it’s also probably true that booking around that is going to seem hokey and fake to more casual fans or sports fans that are the theoretical demographic that could actually grow AEW’s business.
@@keithjackewicz8423 that's a good point. I think there's a way to compromise for both sides since i think there's a good amount of hardcores that would really like that type of build or storylines moving forward, with more modern problems, and have more punk vs kingston-esque stories. We'll just have to see
Kenny Omega is the reason people started paying attention to wrestlers outside WWE. His run in Japan will never be forgotten, and he’ll be a top guy regardless of promotion for the rest of his career. Time to deal with it Jim.
Yeah, see that's the thing, a person cannot just attack another person in general, these days the person who gets punched gets sent to Jail, also there's these things called Digital Cameras that clearly show what happened, if a lawsuit takes place, and tickets are more expensive these days for ring side tickets, this is why no one goes after anyone any longer.
I wad thinking this...now days we see what happens to everyone who does that..jailtime, massive fines, banned from attending future events. Its almost like we as a society have grown or something...well for the most part lol
I disagree with Jim on Danielson and Punk. They don’t need the title, at least not now. They function better as title chasers, kinda like Dusty Rhodes and the NWA Championship.
I think it's good Punk wants to work with younger guys but they could help the product grow if he does as many high profile matches as possible- Omega, MJF, Cody, etc.
Aborting a story two years in the making to give a guy who just main evented Wrestlemania the title over someone who is mega over is the shits. I don't know what the fuck Cornette is thinking there.
Sometimes yes an apology is enough to forgive somebody lol. You're acting like Hangman murdered the Bucks mother and father and he apologized and they were like "okay we cool now" lmao. He cost them a title shot over a year ago, they cost him a shot a few months back. He admitted he was wrong and they acknowledged it, I don't really see anything wrong with that.
And what about the Young Bucks kneeing Page in the face over and over to where he missed a PPV? Oh yeah we can forget about that, just like the Hangman did.
Cornette has been hating Russo for so long he forgot that sometimes people are capable of forgiveness. (Not that Russo deserves forgiveness, fuck that guy)
Cornette said Danielson can't be a heel, he turned heel in 2018 after his return and was a great heel, cut great promos, put Kofi over, etc. Danielson can do just about anything.
That was a 3 year investment in Adam Page's brilliant career arc of over estimating his place among brilliant performers, to doubt which triggered a spiral confirming his level and despite all of that, he rises to the occasion. Storytelling at his finest. Jim has a mind containing 3 generations of knowledge but if he can't see that the business had changed to where you can't apply the same logic of 20 years ago, he can't be helped.
Whether this is actually a good business decision for building a babyface remains to be seen, though. This is well outside the best practices of the industry for basically the last century, and that may be for a reason.
@@keithjackewicz8423 the problem with the "rise of the Babyface" storyline is that since Austin, almost all of them have been the same. Battles against Authority. This is a battle within. It's nice to see something refreshing. Plus this affords the Babyface new opportunities as a character. If he loses, he has two options, congratulate his opponent and endeavor to improve or turn heel and become the entitled brat character, immediately turning on the audience. Nothing wrong with something new and most fans are clearly behind it. I've said it many times now, if Cornette's skills were viable in the modern age, someone would hire him. He has a wealth of knowledge and I like a fair amount of his assessments but he needs to acknowledge that the business has changed. Google doesn't hire programmers who are fluent in Cobalt. Ford doesn't hire Steam Engine Mechanics. Similarly, Tony Kahn won't hire Jim for his opinions of how it was back in the good old days.
I think Omega being injured made sense why he needed to drop the title. That title collector gimmick did him no “physical” favors. Also, for one of the Bucks taking a Con-chair-to prior in the PPV…and being at the side of the ring later…idk

Jim’s missing the point here, that’s the whole compelling part of this story and wrestling, is that it’s not finished yet. There’s more to the story, where do Bucks allegiances lie, how will Kenny respond?? That’s what you want in wrestling, compelling stories were u question what happens next. It’s a testament to Kenny and everyone involved s vision of long term story telling. Something pro wrestling’s seriously lacked over the last 20-25 yrs!

I agree with Brian, that Bryan Danielson has been wrestling like a heel since he's been in AEW. Especially his promo with Kingston, he was getting boo's just like CMPUNK. Also Danielson said during the Media scrum, that he isn't in AEW to help the young guys. He's there for himself and to win the AEW World Title.
When is Jim gonna realize that wrestling is so far past heels and babyfaces because of how crowds just cheer or boo whoever they want unless they have a good reason to react differently? Not everything has to have a face/heel dynamic anymore and as far as watching people he hates goes, if it's really that bad, why does he even bother watching them then? He still goes out of his way to watch them even if he doesn't see most of it or want to watch it, so it's not Cornette living rent free in the fans' heads, it's AEW living in his.
Your comment literally explained what's wrong with wrestling, but thinking its what's makes today's so special. Even though the viewership is the worst in the businesses history.
Personally heels should be for uncharismatic untalented midcarders, green amateurs or wrestlers who have real dirt/issues outside the ring. It pisses me off even til now that half a decade ago Seth Rollins (before he was exposed as a bootlicking sellout on Twitter) was the one chosen as the traitor among the Shield despite being the most atlhetic (with his flips), instead of "Ambrose" or Reigns. Also I cannot buy that Omega and the Bucks as convincing heels if they're quirky and dorky irl. CM Punk is the perfect example of a wrestler who is capable of being a face or a heel. He can be so cheerable or hated easily.

I think MJF is the one to take the title off him, especially after last night. Punk is the signature win MJF needs to put him into the title picture IMO. They are already hinting at it. Beat the biggest star in the company and then beat the biggest babyface. The amount of heat he would have is insane.
Not a big fan of Omega, but this was good. This show was really good. Aside from the two multi man tag matches. It was just long, almost every match went close to 20 mins or longer.
Bryan is going to stay a kickass face, but Punk absolutely needs to be turned heel, both because the company seriously lacks top heels and because Punk’s “happy to be here” tour is wearing thin. He’s a petty prick by all accounts, and he comes across as way more legit when he gets to act like that. And the setup here is perfect, because the crowd is on Kingston’s side in his current feud.

I got to say the storytelling here was pretty damn good. Well said 👍
Idk if Jim would read the comments but I do want to give my two cents on this segment.
Why else do you think people chanted "you suck" to Kurt Angle, why else do you think Cena and Edge feuded so long, why else do you think people cheered so hard for Punk when he became the WWE champion right in front of Vince's face? Because Angle was a heel, Cena was a face and Edge was a heel, because Punk was a face and Vince was a heel.
I think the crowd was chanting "Let's go Kenny!" lol
I get that 😂
Adam cole will get the bucks to turn on omega we will endure a few weeks with that then kyle oreiily debuts in December and they form the undisputed era cole takes the belt from page and the story is the bucks and hangman vs the undisputed era
"Twinkle-Toes McFinger- Bang" - I'm in stitches 🤣🤣🤣
Never going to change Jim cornette feelings towards Twinkle toe's, hilarious. this match was good, hangman page can say now, "I just beat Kenny Omega for the AEW world title. Feel good about himself now.
Picturing Stone Cold celebrating with Kai En Tai is pretty hilarious.
The manscaped sponsor ad was the best thing about this video lol.
I was dying the whole time 🤣
23:27 I usually skip the product ads, but this plug for Manscaped is pretty f'n hilarious...
Doesn't matter how you feel about omega if you don't respect him after working that match with a bum shoulder and vertigo you're insane
Crazy thing is he even worked the Danielson match injured. He’s been hurt since before all out
It's almost as if not being a mark and knowing it's performance art and not actually fucking carny bullshit makes us behave like normal people who aren't going to stab, shoot, or fight the artists.
Feel like Jim is gonna rant about "Dork Order" coming out in the end and closing the show along with Page
Spot on...lol
The best thing about the thumbnails is figuring out when the thumbnails make sense lol

I really enjoyed this match. I have to give that to Harpo he worked a good match with an injured shoulder & vertigo. Hangman is finally AEW World Champion. I liked the finish, that buckshot was nice. Hopefully we get Hangman vs Danielson in a rivalry followd by Hangman vs Miro. This could be a big year ahead if booked right eventually Hangman loses to a heel CM Punk? What u guys think? 🤔
I think MJF is the one to take the title off him, especially after last night. Punk is the signature win MJF needs to put him into the title picture IMO. They are already hinting at it. Beat the biggest star in the company and then beat the biggest babyface. The amount of heat he would have is insane.
AEW World Champion: Adam Page
vs.
Impact World Champion: Moose
vs.
MLW World Heavyweight Champion: Alex Hammerstone.
Who wins???
Not a big fan of Omega, but this was good. This show was really good. Aside from the two multi man tag matches. It was just long, almost every match went close to 20 mins or longer.
Corny is fixing to give Omega a "blade job" he'll never forget in the thumbnail.
“Horses are honourable people” - Jim Cornette
Lol Jim said that just as I scrolled to your comment
"Taint tamer spray" LMAO!!
I thought this was by far the best match and so exciting and suspenseful. Some sick moves as well. Intense.
It was "Fuck Don Callis!" Which has been changed before. I believe the crowd also chanted "Kenny No Balls!"
Bryan isn't staying a face. He's turning to win the belt
I want to see an all organic version of the AEW title.
Nope , but I see punk turning when/ if he wins the belt
Can't wait for Hangman to lose belt. He's had it for too long
Bryan is going to stay a kickass face, but Punk absolutely needs to be turned heel, both because the company seriously lacks top heels and because Punk’s “happy to be here” tour is wearing thin. He’s a petty prick by all accounts, and he comes across as way more legit when he gets to act like that. And the setup here is perfect, because the crowd is on Kingston’s side in his current feud.
This comment aged like wine, while the comments aged like milk, gotta love it! 😂
Can't believe Kenny buried Page and the AEW Title to protect the One Winged Fairy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Omega is going to be out for a while. I'd love to hear Jim's take on Omega wrestling with vertigo for the last three years.
He will find some way to bury him.
Look, im not a big fan of Kenny either, but I can't deny that he's pretty damn good in ring. Anybody who says otherwise just wants to have something to bitch about.
"It could be the Birthday" - Brian's retorts are always fun.
To be fair Omega has been wrestling while battling vertigo amongst other things.
And?
@@robbase5235 And, you guys could at least give him *some* respect…
I respect that he has been a good champion and put on some really good matches. His refusal to get himself checked out and healed is his problem.
Working while hurt to the degree that he claims to be at, is a risk to both himself and his opponent. It's not worthy of respect, its reckless.
@@robbase5235 I agree that is a risk to wrestle that injured and having bouts of vertigo in his matches. If TK knew about this he should of had omega checked out. If Omega was that good I wonder how much better he'd be fully healthy.
@@johnathanrendon4243 I agree with you. Vertigo is no laughing matter. And doing high spots put himself and his opponent at risk. Just imagine if he botched a move and injured both talents. That's a PR nightmare.
"That's a tough thing to chant"
Just go with:
Fu-ckyou-Twinkletoes, clap-clap-clapclapclap
"I don't like what they've done to him over the two years" - regarding Adam Page. I think this shows how out of touch Jim is, he might not like it, but look at how over Page is, the whole story has connected with the fans and got page to be more over then anyone in the company, so whether you like it or not Jim, in this era for these people that has succeeded and Jim cant even admit that you disliked it, but its worked.
I agree, ultimately Page has been on people's minds as a potential main eventer and a sympathetic figure ever since losing his first title shot. His overall booking has made it more satisfying.
I would say it’s the best long term storyline I can ever remember in wresting. I’m 46 btw
Dude what doesn't connect with these fans? They'll eat up almost anything. Cornette is talking about how it looks to a general audience.
@@siddhanth3044 I’d rather them reward long term viewers than do cookie cutter storylines for those who don’t keep up or “casually watch”. Lose your hardcore fan base you’re done.
That dark order shit was stupid as fuck, fans will eat up anything this was not a good atory it was a mess. im just looking forward to how they'll further book him.
Cornette being nice about omega is surly one of the sign of the end of days
Wasn't Cornette complaining about that guy who ran into the ring to attack somebody? Now he says misses when fans attack wrestlers.
Maybe it was because they blamed him for the fan. I think he's trying to have it both ways on this one.
We know Corny can’t be trusted to play it straight when it comes to T-toes. He just doesn’t like his work much at all. And really, Kenny is super Japan..it’s not Jim’s thing at all.
He doesn’t like it when people interfere, but he likes when wrestlers have so much heat that the audience *wants* to beat their ass. That’s never coming back, though, even the Bubbas in Cow Dung, Appalachia know wrestling is fake now.
Gotta always love his kaentai and taka michonoku references lol
Didn't Jim also really like Omega vs Danielson?
He liked omega Vs Cage
Yes.
"Harpo McFingerfuck"...Corny fucking gold !
Jim seems to get angry that he doesnt know where the storylines are going,
He doesn’t even get story lines sometimes. He went on a rant about how big would page be if he wasn’t doing what he was doing for the last 2 years like that isn’t the reason people connected with him so much.
@@Matt-mj1xh quite, it's like if he started watching a movie and got all furious he didnt know the end lol
@@Matt-mj1xh No, he’s just applying basic pro wrestling best practices from the last 100 years, which would suggest that someone will be a lot bigger and get more over if they spend most of their time doing cool shit and associating with people of coequal or greater stature. It’s fair to say he doesn’t understand how alienation and mental health issues are defining problems for younger people nowadays, but at the same time, doing quasi-literary storytelling that appeals to the half-million to 1 million diehards that’ll watch AEW no matter what is a gamble, if growing the company is at all Tony Khan’s goal.
@@keithjackewicz8423 sure that might have worked if hangman was a name before this but before AEW he was still a relative nobody with an ok gimmick.
This entire story gave fans a reason to care about him and connected him to fans. Way more than doing cool things with “main eventers”.
when Roman beat 'Taker at Wrestlemania, the next night on Raw, there was a "Fuck You, Roman!" chant that went out on live t.v. for a good 10 minutes.
I swear sometimes Jim just sounds like that Principal Skinner meme: "am I out of touch? No...it is the fans who are wrong!"
This whole episode sounds to me like he loved the ppv and is desperately looking for things to nit-pick to death to the point he has completely missed entire storylines...like why people care about Adam Page winning and how this was a storyline 3 years in the making that all culminated just right.
He didn't realize Miro is excellent. He can't tell that Cody is CLEARLY a heel right now if you take two seconds to think about it. He won't watch women's matches because he has already decided they are all shit.
He is an old man shaking a stick at the neighborhood kids from his rocking chair on the porch now. Its a good thing he has so much wrestling knowledge about the history of the business because nobody would listen to him if he didn't. He sounds like a troll on youtube.
Cornette truly doesn't understand the hangman storytelling, like Wtf?
