It is 300m water resistant and its case is 40 mm. Inside ticks a very reliable and very accurate automatic movement which was fully developed and made in-house by Rolex.

This is the ultimate watch if you want to show your success. My god, it is so out there. It’s like arriving with a photomodel in miniskirt at your mum’s birthday. If you’re buying this, prepare for the entire world having an opinion about you.
The steel for this watch was developed by Rolex and the gold was cast in its own foundry in Geneva. Yes - Rolex makes its own gold. They don’t even call it gold. They call it Rolesor.
This might seem to be a trivial detail, but it’s not. It summarizes the ruthless strive for perfection and durability this company has. This is Rolex.
The Submariner was introduced in 1953 and was meant for professional use. Officially, the watch is called Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Submariner. The name Oyster dates back to 1926 and refers to its waterproof case. Perpetual means it has an automatic mechanical movement, so there’s no need to wind it.
This was an invention done by movement maker Aegler and first used by Rolex. Rolex has its own research lab and the company is incredibly yet discretely innovative. It makes nearly every part of this watch in-house, except the glass and the hands.
The precision of this Submariner is within the boundaries of -2/+2 seconds per day and it is antimagnetic thanks to its high-tech Parachrom hairspring.

I'm collecting mine in the next few weeks but wondering How does it cope as a day to day watch with scratches etc. Is my old casio still going to have its place as a day to day beater? 😂
@@andybell1983 Well, gold always is a bit more vulnerable to scratches (even when it's Rolex-gold 😂). The watch in the video had been worn for about 4 months by the time we were filming it.
So yeah, you'll see some wear after a couple of months, but nothing major. Just remember to get the good old Casio out when you're going to do something really wild ;-)

Funnily enough, the two tone Rolexes are the only ones you can buy at retail prices... nobody likes them. They are the best deal. Look at the green gold Daytona, its like 90k, while the same green Daytona in two tone can be had for 16k, its retail price. Bonkers.

That's not the point. Amount of 18k gold on this watch isn't cause that much . However half gold just makes much better appearance
I love my 116613LN but wouldn’t have it as my only watch. My 216570 Polar compliments it really well. If I lived somewhere super safe like Singapore or Dubai I wouldn’t care about having an under the radar steel watch! Great video
Really enjoyed this video. I love two tone in general and think the black face wins out over blue for the heirloom factor…but there’s not much cooler than a Bluesy in my mind.
