Just bought one if these. I found the blue one just a touch blingy while this one is more subtle. Reminds me of the JPS F1 racing cars.

Back in 2009 I was on a cruise that stopped at Cayman Islands. After a few years of thinking about it I finally decided to purchase a black two tone from the AD store. At that time the retail price was $8500 but I was able to purchase it for $7500(no tax). I wore the watch everyday for the first 9 years(recently I start purchasing other watches). I never had the watch serviced or polished and it has always kept perfect time. It’s still the best watch I ever owned. Not planning to ever sell it. I have a 13 year old son that will inherit the watch eventually. Love your videos, keep up the good work!

Back in the 80's it seems everyone was into gold rolexes, cocaine and 911's. Kinda past me by coz I was into He-Man, cheesy wotsits and trying to ignore the strange feeling that Tiffany of "I think we're alone now" fame was giving me.
The gold Rolex is actually a 70s icon.
I just purchased this watch. I agree. I had the Bluesy and I hated it. It was too hard to wear with suits or casual clothes. So I sold it and bought this one.
Jody, I'm afraid You misspoke about the bracelet. The center links are, I believe, 100% 18K gold. Not gold capped like the two tone Tudor Black Bay. Look at the sides of the center link, it's solid not layered like Tudor's. I'm open to correction if I'm wrong.

Yes you are right about the solid links 18k Gold mine is the 116613LB Bluesy AND IT POP'S ,got big wrist to pull it off as well , what Peeves me is everyone , that sees the watch All way's ask is it real , and how much did it cost ,!!!!!!!

Bought this exact model at an AD yesterday ! You can just feel the craftsmanship. Its a more interesting look than the SS version in my opinion. They told me they had to remove the plastic stickers before taking it out of the store.
i want the two tone blue, I can only get it financed, but they are used. Should I buy a used one? or do they exchange the original parts?

If you put on a regular oyster bracelet and stainless steel crown, I actually really like the gold accents on the bezel and dial. That bracelet is definitely too much for me though

I totally agree with you, Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! I put my money on this this Submariner 116613LN over its Steel sibling. There is this air of exquisite luxe from the Two Tone that cannot be felt from a Steel Submariner. The kind of class above its class that is not remarkable in Rolex Steel. When I received a note from my regular Rolex AD that one became available, and had the chance of to put the Steel and this Two Tone Rolesor on my wrist. I could instantly feel its 'Substantial Presence' and decided this Two Tone is the one to have. Looking forward to more of reviews.
Only just noticed my 5 digit 16613 has gold lettering plus a champagne colored date, the six digit looks white lettering & white date, think i still prefer the 16613, plus they are cheaper!
I own it and I love it I never wear with long sleeves though the gold scratches to easily along with ceramic bezel if you don’t wanna scratch your nice watches stick to short sleeves I leave quartz for long sleeves

Bought the mrs a gold and steel datejust for her birthday yesterday. I never really got the two tone look but have to say, in the flesh, it is just gorgeous. I like this subby too.

I jokingly say that two toned watches are for extremely indecisive people who wear a different sock on each foot. I'm not one of them and think silver is much more versatile with any attire.

I thought Rolex 904L (Oyster Steel) was supposed to be harder and less able to show scratches than 316L steel. I think I have read that 904L steel is from the same steel as the space shuttles.

It's a beauty Jody, but I wear my my AE1200 with the same pride (now that I got rid of all that rigamorol of advertising from the case and face thanks to you) of a thousand dollar gem.

If you only like the esthetics of the rolex sub you are better off with a invicta homage watch. So i think status plays a big role too. Of course Rolex watches are state of the art watches, no doubt about that, but if they weren't that expensive, and therefore special, they would 't attrack so much attention. I am afraid I am not a fan of the Rolex sub mariner. On the other hand I do like the Oyster perpetual and the datejust.
The best two tone is the triple black GMT. Timeless beauty and elegance. Now you can’t get it. That was the one to get....but who knew! Damn

Never been a two tone guy, for many years my daily wear was a s/steel black SUB, but many of my good friends daily wear was this particular model - I use to look at it when we would be out or having lunch, without doubt it had great presence on the wrist, so I bought one for my father on his 70th birthday, same model as your reviewing I think as the bezel wasn't available in ceramic at the time on this model. With the release at Basel of the new two tone in the larger size diver (with my larger wrist) I may actually considering buying one to wear for the first time. Interesting how our tastes change overtime. But a. an every day wear that gold is going to scratch especially on the clasp very easily.

An everyday watch is one that you buy in a market and don't mind getting it knocked about. My Datejust and Sub are NEVER worn where they might get scuffed .
If you love the watch wear it. You will be old soon and die. I don't baby any of my watches and wear them for complete enjoyment.
Not to worry...Invicta will have one out shortly...and you probably wouldn’t feel too bad actually diving with it. Can you imagine showing up on a dive boat with one of these strapped to you wrist. LOL.

I can afford it, but I cant bring myself to do it. I'm too rough on my watches. Spent a couple thousand on a nice watch a while back and its scratched horribly. Even my SBDC051 with Diashield is scratched up. I couldnt bear to spend $10k+ and scratch the watch to high heaven.

Fabulous watch. You actually get more for your money with the two-tone because it has real gold. Not just a steal Rolex that probably cost 500 to 1000 dollars to make and 10 grand to buy. I can't afford it but If I were well to do, this would be a watch I would want to own.
