I don't have a steamer, so I cleaned out my fridge/ freezer and shut it off for 3 hours. I didn't take anything apart. No tools needed. Totally defrosted the inside freezer compartment. Removing that stupid clogged up "boot" on the back side completely solved the water in the fridge issue that has plagued me for a couple of years. You saved me a $199.00 service call. Thank you for posting this video!! Problem solved.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP IN STOPPING THE WATER LEAKS IN MY WHIRLPOOL REFRIGERATOR. YOU VIDEO GAVE ME GREAT INSTRUCTIONS AND NOW THE WATER FROM THE FREEZER NO LONGER RUNS IN THE BOTTOM OF MY REFRIGERATOR AND OUT INTO THE FLOOR. YOU ARE A GENIUS.

Your video was perfect for the same issue with my Whirlpool. The exact same layout and problem with the rubber reducer at the end of the defrost line. Thank you, and keep up the good work!

my fridge had been leaking for a year. I saw this video and it fixed the problem. All I did was pour hot water down the drain from the freezer and cleared it right out. Not a leak since. Thanks for your video!

i used both the steamer and a hair dryer.. I found the hair dryer to be more effective in most of the work.

This was incredible! After several attempts, I finally managed to open the back panel and my jaw dropped: The tray wasn't full of water but ice! Like two inches of solid ice. No wonder there was an ocean in my fridge haha. Thank you so much for this tutorial!

Same problem, basically the same refrigerator, only the rubber piece which I did remove was filled up with a lint like gunk to the top. Definitely going to wipe down everything that goes into the freezer from now on. Good video.

Never seen a steamer used to do this but looks like a great idea. Any suggestions on what kind to get or where to get them? I’m not familiar with those at all.

Bruh!!! This was the perfect video for the same problem. I just have a Maytag. It's probably the same. I followed your suggestions and it worked. Seems like I need to do this bi-monthly almost. I also noticed we over stuff the freezer and fridge.

Unplug the refrigerator and let it thaw 👍 or hot water in a turkey baster, keep refilling with how water once it loses heat

I've red that the rubber boot is not actually intended for keep away insects but for limit the entrance of hot/humid air back in the system that come from the bottom evaporation cube. After taking it off is your fridge still working ok?

I was having same leak problem… same whirlpool refrigerator. When I went to go take the grommet/boot off the drain line in the back, I realized it had already been broken off… The piece that hangs from the body of the fridge was just broken off and laying in the drain pan. That piece had been filled with spray foam. Also, the line in the cavity of the fridge was filled with foam. The pan is dry as a bone and clean I bought this secondhand from somebody but it’s only a year and a half old. Is this a factory defect?

I did all this, and I'm still getting lots of water puddling... it looks like it's coming from the vent inside the fridge... can you help?

What did you use to move the refrigerator? I cannot even reach in the back of the fridge to pull out the plug. Please advise, and thank you.
Also, do I need to unplug the fridge when I just work in the freezer part? Can I just leave the temp control in the next lower setting? I don't have an ice maker, so can I still leave the fridge plugged as I work in the freezer portion? Thanks.
