Oh WOW! There's an APP for this!!! I love you for posting this. Now I can finally have a system for organizing what I'm sure are more than one thousand stamps. I already knew I needed a database, but having the database on a desktop or even a laptop computer is not at all convenient. I almost bought a bar code reader to try to devise a DIY database, which--geek girl that I am--I COULD have done, but it still seemed like too much hassle to start from scratch and have to purchase hardware and software, too. I am definitely getting this app and will use it not just for stamps and dies but for a bunch of other craft and art supplies. OMG, I could inventory my paints and inks and stencils AND my finished art pieces, too! Bless you, woman, you saved my life! :-)

This is fantastic, thank you so much for sharing. I’ve been searching for 2 years for a way to organise my stamps and dies but until now I haven’t found anything I’m completely happy with. I’ve started to organise with your system and I’m really confident this will work for me. I’ve added a couple more fields which are important to me. The first is “Recipients”. Here I will select the names of the people who I’ve made a card for using this stamp. I will also add pictures of my cards in the attachments field. This way I can check what cards I’ve sent to each person previously so I don’t make them something too similar next time. My second added field is “Storage location”. I’ve numbered my stamp containers so I can enter on the app and easily find the location of a particular stamp. I’d already put a lot of my stamps in Avery Elle pockets (I think I bought the large size). Some of my stamps are too small for these pockets while others are too big and I was unsure what to do with these. Using your system I think it will work fine to buy more different size pockets, as long as each storage box is clearly labelled and catalogued I’ll be able to find everything. I’m so excited to finally sort all my stamps and then I’ll do the same for my dies. Thanks again for the best stamp storage video on UA-cam 😀

Thank you for sharing. I’m in the middle of organizing using a system like yours and the wonderful Jennifer McGuire. I was struggling with how to categorize and I can see how this app will help me putting things in order. And, how it can help me quickly find a stamp. The photo is a good idea.

I am a relatively new subscriber to your channel. I love your honesty and humor. Your videos are not like everyone else. You are not playing follow the leader and doing whatever everyone else is doing at the moment. I like that. I found this video today and absolutely love it! For me it is a total game changer. I can't remember everything I have and now with Airtable I will have somewhere to check! Thank you for this video. The last time I was this happy with a video It was Jennifer McGuire's Stamp and Die Organization video (Storage envelopes with magnetic panels for the dies like you have in this video. That is a great place to start but I needed this information to get to stage 2. After downloading the Airtable app I got an email confirmation email as well as a $2 Airtable credit ? It states there is am Airtable premium service. Do you have the basic free version or the premium version? Do you have a color swatching system you use for your watercolors, markers, ect? Congratulations again for reaching over 50,000 subscribers!

Finally got to this! I love the app! Works really great 👍. Got me to realise how big my stash is and how little I use it 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️. I have forbidden myself to purchase more for at least .. erm... 🤔🤔 a week. Mind you, at the time I am writing this I have been clicking away on Amazon 😆. At this rate I am going bankrupt. Thanks again for your wonderful tips and great videos 👍🏼👍🏼

Do any of your dies get damaged just stuck in the plastic bag? I organize my stamp & dies using the same pockets as you do, except I buy magnetic sheets from Amazon to stick a die sets to, then slide them behind the coordinating stamp set. I got that tip from Jennifer Mcguire, but there is one of her tips that I am going to junk for yours and that is the DVD bins. I have degenerative disk disease in my spine and it is advanced. Using JM'S mthod, I bought the double sided Fridge-Binz to put the stamps & dies in. But once they are filled they are extremely heavy! Even my hubby said the bins were too heavy. I have already placed an order for 6 or 8 of the bins from AMZ. I am confident that I will be able to handle these on my own and as you say, the bin won't take up much room on my desk. Now, I need to figure out what to do with 5 double sided Fridge-Binz!
As for inventory, I use Evernote as I can sync it across all of my electronics from my Android phone to tablet to laptop. It functions very much like your program and I know I must have over a thousand descriptive tags for all of my sets.
Final question, how do you store your rubber cling stamps? Or don't you use them? Most of mine are SU, so I keep them in the DVD cases they come in, but the Tim Holtz stamps comes on the large plastic backing that are larger than the plastic pockets (they are supposed to be put into his binders).
    How would you store them?
    Thanks for the great video.

This video was extremely helpful to me as I am not organized yet. Been busy buying supplies but not organizing them yet. I did buy a few 2” binders and the clear project packets than can go inside the binder. Not sure which route to take as Ihave many stamp sets. I have large pretty boxes that I’ve purchased from various places and have some of them under the holiday category with their matching dies. Ex, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, etc. Hmmmm, what to do. Decisions, decisions. Tyfs. Blessings. Where did u purchase the clear baskets that you house your stamps in. Is it like a refrigerator tray or something along those lines.

Awesome! This could be used for paint and ink too I gather. Some people have been known to accidentally buying doubles of those as well. 😇 The only downside to this is, that it’s an app. It might not work in three years if the developer loses interest in it and stops updating it. 🤔
Edit: The free version has a limit of 1200 entries and 2gb per base. Paid version, 12$/month. 😱

I am a newbie to crafting. I have so much to learn lol.
I got two huge boxes of all these wooden and clear stamps and dies (didn’t know what these were at the time) and inks at a last day thrift store for $40. I didn’t realize just what an amazing value I got as I started to see the prices on these pieces-most unopened and brand new. Soooo I’m very blessed indeed. I want to learn how to get creative with them so I’m gonna be checking out a lot of your videos. You’re a great teacher! Thank you!

Thank you so much! I've been looking for ways to store and organize my stamps. I don't have many yet, but now that I have 9, they are just in that "need to find a good way to store" category. Is it ok to store the stamp sets in the package they came in? I'm tight on money and not sure when I'll have any free to get some of the nicer ones. In the past two years, I've unfortunately become disabled due to some diseases that I didn't know I had getting worse. It's given me time to craft, but left resources low to do the crafting. I just found you, and still need to check your blog and videos, but do you have any tips for low budget crafting? Thanks!

Hi Girl...I'm so sorry to hear of your unfortunate circumstances. Life can be so cruel sometimes. I'm not one for Facebook, but I'm wondering if, through that venue, or maybe your local social outlets (work even, church, neighbors...) you might be able to expand your access to "crafty things". (I recently made birth announcements using grocery sacks cut into teddybears for the fronts. Your ingenuity is going to be your best ally. And maybe some help from $Tree.) I've long thought there ought to be some way "we" could reach, interact with, others who like to do this "thing"!! I think I'll check with my local Michael's, Hobby Lobby, & Joann's to see if perhaps they have any BULLETIN BOARDS with such like postings. Good luck, Jane.

Was checking out Tiffany’s method on Scrapbook.Com with her four method plan and binder storage system, but it looked very dauntingly, stressful and time consuming with the numbering, cataloging in and under various themes and repeat stamping of images. But may incorporate her idea of overall themes instead of brand names as my top fields.... Tech is my go to! TFS!🥰😘😍✨👍🏾💕👌🏾

CONGRATS JD! 156K UA-cam Subscribers! Way to go!
I watched your video as you demonstrated how you used AirTable to inventory your stamps. Since a few years have passed, I wonder if you would consider doing a follow-up to tell us what has worked, what you’ve changed & how you use it now. How long were you able to use AirTable for free before you reached the 1,200 records or 2 GB? Has your inventory grown enough to require a paid subscription to “Plus” ($10/month) or “Pro” ($20/month)? Our inventories sure do continue to grow which makes keeping track of & remembering what we have, where it is, etc. a lot more difficult! I feel genuinely blessed to have my lifelong stash of curated art supplies though! They super-charge my creativity and keep my hands, heart & mind very busy! No worries about them being idle, that’s for sure. I hope your creativity has continued to grow just like your channel has! Thanks JD!

Oh, sweet Craft Goddess in the sky, thank you for pointing me to this video BEFORE I begin organizing my crafts supplies. 🙏🏻
    😁👍🏻
Seriously though, I have no dedicated craft space and my supplies are stored wherever they fit. Makes crafting more trouble than it's worth, that's for sure. By the time I figure out which bin, drawer, shelf etc has my sharp cutty things, and which one has my sticky things...well, it takes the fun out of it.😕

Hey there cutie! I saw this great video quite a while ago, but still have a question??😱 what and where did you get ur stamp shelf unit? Is it just a bookshelf? I don’t have a lot of room, so I need maximum space from floor to ceiling! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! ( trust me, I’ve been checking everywhere!) I have 2 of the Better homes and gardens “kallax” units, but not that practical when the plastic containers we all use for our stamp, only fit 1 per shelf? I added my own 2nd shelf in each shelf, but it’s just not what I need. Thank you so much! Liz😊👍🏼💗

First and foremost, this is a great video. You're the 3rd person I hear saying they are using AirTable. I checked that one, Evernote and another one I can't remember. Now you sold me on this one. I started on Excel but doesn't give me a picture or it becomes too heavy. AND I have to go downstairs to use the PC instead of my phone.
When I buy a set I take a picture and put all the info I want in the spreadsheet - different from you: where I bought it and what price and how many pieces are included. I don't really need the tags.
My stamps and dies are by theme. If a set contains multiple themes I separate them in the correct place so the original assortment doesn't look like the original anymore. I keep the coordinating dies along with the stamps.
I bought thick plastic sheet (12x12 @ 0.020 & 0.007 thick) and magnets (8x10) along with 6x8 zipper bags from Amazon and I work with those. I need the zipper because I drop stuff all the time. I lost a few dies like that. No more.
What I mean when I separate is this: Let's say I buy a sheet of greetings. Some are for sympathy, birthday, hello, Christmas. Each of those go on a different sheet. If I'm making b-day cards I don't want to go through sympathy sentences. Makes my work easier.
I will tr AirTable for sure; I've seen other using and explaining it. TFS Nicole (Canada)

Hi there, just ran across your video! I look forward to using the database you recommended! Will help with doing a lot of constant flipping to find what I want. I have converted to the storage pocket system (2 different sized pockets + SU + CTMH) and was struggling with how to arrange (by theme, which combines sizes and much overlap!) This may be my solution!

I loved this video and was so psyched to start using it. But now I feel like really stupid.... I wanted to make a simile inventory like you did with stamps. But I can’t get it right. You ROCK! Thank you for sharing this JD. A few questions.
I have many stamps which are old and I have no clue of the brand, set name, etc. They were added to backer sheets/pockets by themes years ago. Like I have half a dozen pockets of all miscellaneous hearts. Teeny-tiny ones, small ones, large, whatever, so if I'm looking for a heart they're all together. Any suggestions how to inventory those? How to also integrate those with new 'sets?'
I generally work by theme and because sets have birthday, sympathy...I split them up without regard for brand, etc. In other words, if I want to find a bday sentiment, why would I care what flowered set it's with? I want to expeditiously look through all my bday sentiments. Plus, back in the day, companion dies didn't even exist, but now I do have some.
I have such a hodgepodge, I'm not sure how to incorporate all into one system and I really don't want two different systems. Suggestions? Thoughts?
How do you view the photos to see and decide which you actually want to use? Do you still pull out multiple bins and sets to audition which will work best for your current project?
Does the app have ability to read QR codes and add to inventory the main fields that way?
It works on iPhone, does it also work on MacBook?
Thanks again and I truly respect and appreciate your time and talents. It takes a lot of both to do the videos you do!

I’m just beginning to organize my stamps & dies ( l’ve got a million ! ). I’m pretty much doing it like you. You were my inspiration. I got a couple of those super storage bins, the storage clear bags & some cardstock to help make them more sturdy. I need to go to Home Depot to get those vents covers to cut some magnets to include, also. Your stuff looks so neat & orderly. I thought that WAS your craft room ! Lol l use one end of my long family room but that needs some serious attention. My 14 year old granddaughter wants to come over & help. She loves to organize & she does a bank up job so l’m always happy to have her. She & her sister both finished out the school year with all “A”s. Their dad, my son made all “A”s & one “B”. He’s studying architecture with one more year to go. YAY! Sorry, l don’t know what made me skip the tracks. That’s how my brain works. Lol ‘Till next time ! Bye.

The link for the containers takes me to containers that are 12.25 x 10.75 x 10.63 inches. Your containers don't look nearly that wide. Is this the correct link? Thanks!

Thanks for the great ideas; fortunately, coming from an accounting background, I will be using an Excel workbook format. I am more familiar with that. I found Airtable hard to navigate (plus you can't teach this old dog new tricks).

Thank you so much for the help with AirTable!! I have been laboriously entering things in MS Excel! I paid money to buy another App. I didn’t like it at all. I have a keyboard for my iPad & the other App wouldn’t turn to landscape but AirTable does!

JD, this is exactly the same organization Jennifer McGuire Ink uses that she showed in her June 18, 2013 video. She is a professional card maker, therefore she has a lot of inventory and tried different organization systems to best accommodate her needs. I saw her video in 2015, but didn't think I'd ever have enough clear stamps or dies to even need one clear bin. But by 2019 I was having a hard time keeping it organized and accessible. So I bought a couple of bins. I have 2 bins for clear stamps and dies. That is all I am allowing myself. With crafts it's way too easy to hoard. I want to use what I have and to be creative and resourceful and not buy a tool or a thing to create. I fail a lot, but I feel good for trying. This system has been a game changer in its efficiency for me. I hope it has been working great for you as well.
I was specifically sharing about the physical parts of the stamp storage. Not the digital inventory aspects of your video. I don't have a need because I don't have your amount of inventory. But if I did, I would probably try that.

Hi there, I know this posting is older, but I am new to Airtable, and someone recommended your video to me. It is great and very helpful. I have a few questions for you.
a.) Where do you get those storage pockets. They are perfect for my purposes.
b.) Can you upload your data to Airtable from an excel spreadsheet?
c.) Can the same airtable app be shared on multiple phones. I have sisters that I share an inventory with.
    Again, thanks so much!

Wow, so much cheaper to buy these things in the States (Canada, here), but that app sounds great! I really like a lot of your suggestions; I'll have to keep the ideas in my head when I'm out looking at storage solutions. My stamp sets are (kinda) sorted by theme, since I don't know the brands so much (the app would definitely help with that); but you're so right - themes can be so diverse. Thanks for the ideas. New to you, but have subscribed :)

I guess I am old school. I have a 3 ring binder. I list the stamps in groups by companies. I put them in alphabetical order using the name of the stamp. I take that binder shopping locally, and it goes to stamp expos. I typed it up, and update every so often. I have lists of ink pads and reinkers, plus markers etc.Your idea seems much more modern. Easier to carry around too!😊 I store my unmounted stamps in plastic “crates” that I found with school supplies for $1.00! I have started adding some like you showed, but the nice ones are getting hard to find around here. Too many stamps ... maybe...Nope!

Dam girl you have allot of stamps, I don't feel so bad now, lol!! I bought similar storage containers from Michaels, they are shaped the exact same and clear, but they aren't the hard acrylic like yours from Amazon, I wish could spend more cash on those. But the ones I got were on sale and with a coupon on top it only made mine a little over a buck, I bought 10 container for around 15 dollars and they work great. Thanks for the tips and sharing, your system and app are awesome!

I have to check this out as at the present time I am using Evernote which operates similarly to Air Table, however it isn't free. It can be and I do have it loaded on my mobile device. Over the years I have organized and re-organized my stamps and I was determined at the last organization that it would be the last. My system is almost the same as yours, but I number my stamp packs and file them by number as opposed to manufacturer or type of stamp or theme. I found that filing stamps by number eliminated my having to re-organize when a theme or manufacturer outgrew it's container. Also the oversize stamps which didn't fit nicely with the smaller sets such as your "Mom" collection and many of the Avery Elle type size sets I gave a letter designation and then continued with a number so the 5x7 stamps sets started with an "A" and the larger 6x10 stamps start with "C". The larger stamps are put in a different size container that will fit them more easily. Also, this way the large stamps don't crowd out just flipping through the stamps to pick them out. Love your tips and thanks for sharing them.

Thank you for recommending Airtable. I just viewed your video this week and have already entered my stamps and even my inks so I don't buy duplicate stamps or ink colors. Also, so easy to search my stamps and then find them because, let's be honest, we always have our phone by our side. Love that you can add a photo right in the app so you can see your stamps and dies before pulling them from my shelf. Thank you for your videos!!!

To this day I still don't know how to organize my stamps. Right now I use page protector because it's cheap and come in a pack of 500 protector sheets for my clear stamps. I be sure to cut the protector sheet down to fit the stamp set. I like the idea about labeling, the app is a great idea I will have to try. Definitely will have to get one of those label-thingy machine. Thanks for sharing!

thank you for showing us this video, I don't have too many stamps at the moment but as I enjoy organising, sorting and making lists I had already started trying to compile my stamp list. I have downloaded the AirTable App and it looks as if it is going to be useful for a lot of my crafts and hobbies equipment. I was wondering about the bags you used to store your stamps, where can I get them? I have tried Polypockets but they are too big and flimsy to be of any use.

I remember when I was a "newbie". I also wish they had this program way back then. I have way too many stamps, inks, craft supplies, dies, etc., to even think about using this. I have dies, inks, papers, and tools in an Excel spread sheet on my phone for when I go shopping. Dies are pretty pricey to be duplicating. :-) Even though you're new to this, if you think you will continue, you would do yourself a favor if you started cataloging your items now.

Went back and watch the older video as you mentioned you had a system for organizing your stamps. I think I will look up the app and see how I might best use it. It almost seems insurmountable to me right now because I have so so many. Probably a dumb tech question but if I take a picture of it on my phone, can I import it directly to my PC if the app is open on my PC or do I need to save it to my PC first and then take it out of there? I hate buying duplicate stamps and have taken back more than a few. Lol
