Peace, I received my Moment 1.33x Anamorphic adapter 2 days ago and I gotta point out how 🔥 the build is for this lens. Not really a complaint but I’m going to focus on doing more arm curls, because my rig got a lot heavier. I can’t wait to shoot my first music video with this beast!
@@CineDailies checking on this! Seems like thanks to the easy alignment with the button on this adapter, would it theoretically be easy to rotate 90° to achieve traditional anamorphic look on vertical video? An interesting experiment!
I think this one might be my fave! Would you be willing to make a video on how you focus pull as a single operator? I'd be doing the same thing if I got this
For me personally, the GreatJoy anamorphic adapter was CHOICE. I've been pairing it up with my Sirui 1.33x lenses, and it totally makes them look WAAAAAAAAAY better. A full on 1.8x stretch..
This is now on my hit list. I have four Milvus lenses (for my P4K) and three of them fit within the range to work properly with the adapter. Super buzzed to try one (there are a ew things higher up the list though!) Your little film at the start was sweet as °¬)
I saw in Moment's video that they attached it to the sigma 24-70 f2.8 (which I also own, so this would be my choice lens to use the adapter) and since the back thread of this adapter is 67, but the lens' front thread is 82, I was wondering how that works. So yes you can use the step-down rings to adapt the 82mm of the lens to the 67 of the adapter. But doesn't it then hide a lot of the image? Do we have to crop in post to hide the black limits of the field view (similarly when using a crop lens on a full-frame sensor)? And if so, is it by a lot? I hope my question makes sense. Thank you so much for your insight :) !
Hi :) Super pumped about this!! When using it on a lens with a bigger thread than 67mm (using the included 82-67 step-down rings for example), does the image still cover the entire sensor (with a lens in the 35mm to 70mm focal range), or are the borders of the adapter visible (in which case a digital crop would be required)? Thanks!! I can't wait to have my hands on it!
for me, i was hoping for an adapter which was able to work with lenses wider than 50mm, but i guess this is just a physical barrier based on sensor size? seems to be common among all anamorphic adapters.
On super 35 you can use a 35mm lens without light lost. 50mm of Full frame without light lost. Aka vignetting. Of course you can break this ruin and shoot wider lenses but it depends on your taste on vignetting
Thanks for the video. Great work! So with a full frame camera and a 50mm lens, will this 1:33 squeeze adapter give a 2:35 final image when shooting 16:9?
Eeek I’m so excited to get one of these! One thing that confuses me a little (wonder if you could help) is how we can use the adapter on larger filter lenses (77mm is what I need) when the back of the anamorphic adapter is I think 60 something mm ? I know there are step up and down rings in the kit it just confused me because the adapter is smaller at the back than the lens
@@CineDailies True but 800+ grams is a lot of weight for the front of a lens weighing 300 grams or less, and most MFT lenses have a filter thread of 46mm. A smaller MFT optimized version is something that is beneficial. And there are a lot of us GH indie filmmakers out there.
Don’t know if you still have your SLR Magic X-mount lenses or this Moment anamorphic adaptor. Ideally if you have both I would love to see them paired before you just start the lens firesale situation.
So can I set my camera to autofocus and use this adapter? or this is still relying on manual focusing? My ideal anamorphic adapter would be something that can attach to a regular auto-focus lens and I wouldn't have to worrying about focusing.
I find this an exciting development. I've tried to parse the Kickstarter info, but would this work with a Fuji GFX size sensor, so long as the filter thread of the lens allows it? I would love to add this to my kit.
Great question! we didn't have time to test it on the GFX sensor. Tho there might be issues finding the right lens, the GFX sensor might be to large for this adapter.
Its all about exit pupil diameter, I would say nothing over 40mm (And that is 40mm after crop factor so a 50mm GF3.5 would work but not the 32-64mm) with no larger than a 67mm front diameter for the lenses. I wouldn't even attempt any wider so this adapter wont be for you unless you are looking for mid to telephoto anamorphic shots
@@CallMeRabbitzUSVI Thank you! That helps me a lot. I was in fact thinking to use it with a 30mm or 45mm because of the front diameter threading size. It seems you're suggesting that this could work. I don't own a smaller format camera and I would like not to have another to carry-but I also admire the anamorphic look (I have the lens for my phone).

I just received the adapter. Unfortunately there aren’t many reviews out there and yours unfortunately only covers your use on the Blackmagic camera. I’ve tried using it on my A7SIII and on my Red Komodo today. Moment claims the adapter works with 50mm lenses on full frame. Well, I have to report that that’s not exactly true. Unless they meant it works with strong vignetting. That is in fact true. So on my Leica Summicron R 50mm on the A7SIII full frame it does still vignette. Same goes for S35 on the Red Komodo with a 35mm lens which Moment also claims would work. Moment must be quite happy you chose the 50mm on the BMPCCs S35 sensor. But then again they hired you to work for them so why would you show people that their claims of focal lengths coverage just aren’t really true? So for anyone out there who is thinking of getting one of those, just keep it mind Moments coverage compatibility list is not really true / accurate. I hope that someone will put a truthful review out there asap.
Yeah there are a few reviews that show the vignetting on full frame with 50mm. But honestly, just a little clear image zoom and you'll be fine on Sony. You could see the vignetting in the promo video as wellas with the examples. Vignetting is really low on my list of concerns with adapters. I'll just choose a different focal length if that's the case. Hope you will find some enjoyment with the adapter
