Great video! Two things are still unclear though. Can you scout a tile where the opponent already has a combat unit on it? And also, if you use your rifleman to get in control of a tile, that doesnt contain any control points, would that give any advantage?

After playing a card during the initiative phase, do you then draw another card, bringing your hand up to a total of 4? Or do you have a hand of 3 cards every turn, after committing one card to the initiative phase? You're the best, Rodney!
Thank you kindly Blake! You do not draw back up after playing an initiative card - so this is part of playing your hand. Going for initiative might cause you to lose a card you want to "play" during that round.
Wow...I found this interesting! I have a lot of older wargaming stuff (1/72 & 1/300th scale) and trying to get permission to set up from my wife or even find an opponent to share my interest is next to impossible however this board game may be the ticket.

Quick question. Found your video very informative and easier than reading the rules. I’ve been playing a few games, but get as with most games these days the rules are sometimes up for interpretation. With regards to the control, this includes the reinforcements expansion, if you have an enemy controlling a tile, with a unit on can you move your troops into that tile and neutralise their control? So both tiles are scouted? Many thanks if you could clarify this. 👍🏻
Once your initiative card is put in the discard pile, do you replace it with a card from the deck and add it to your hand, to make 4 cards in your hand? Or just play with 3 cards?
Oh man. I vaguely recall this game. A print and play came out years ago, and it was going to be published, but never was. Anyone remember what the game as originally called? Also, more historical stuff, Rodney!
Hey, thanks for the interest. I tend to avoid giving personalized recommendations. What I like, someone else might not - but hopefully the video helps give a sense of whether or not it would suit your tastes.
Hello, when replaying this game had a quick question when suffering a casualty and removing the unit from your hand, do you draw another card to replace that card drawing back to 3 or are you stuck with 2 cards for that turn. Thank you any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, and they can shoot at each other with a range of “0” when calculating defense value. Also, note that you cannot perform the “control” action with rifleman if an enemy is in that tile.
If you summon an unit into game, can you perform an action by the same card? Or by using a card you will place a token and you need a second card to perfotm an action? Thanks
When you would take a card action with a combat card and the corresponding combat counter is not on the board, immediately place the counter on the board on the space indicated by the relevant spawn marker. Then perform the action as normal. Do not place a combat counter when you hunker down.
Thanks for this, really appreciated - it has also provided an alternative way of looking at a design I'm currently working on, and opened my eyes to several additional possibilities with it... In turn, it's helped considerably with something I was grappling with: how important is the map to a wargame? Turns out, possibly not so much... Lol
Hi i am wondering can the suppressed combat counter be rallied by any kinds of actions in the next turn? If not, does it means that once it was suppressed, it can no longer perform any actions just like it is removed from the board?
@@WatchItPlayed I am new to the game, but I think if you play a card that matches the suppressed counter, you unsuppress, and can then perform other actions with matching cards

when choosing innititive ... do you have to do it blind or can you look at your cards first? so you don`t get rid of a card you want to use in that round.
Does that mean that it is sometimes bad for me if I make a successful attack? E.g., my opponent plans to hunker down a few scouts in order to have a higher percentage of control cards in his deck. If I shoot at his scouts, do I essentially save him an action?
Well, from what I could tell, hunkering down troops means they can be bolstered back into the deck whilst a successful attack on a unit removes that unit from the game
Does the "Guide" action let you move any ONE unit??? Or does "any" mean you can move as many as you want? As you demonstrated it, you moved two units, but reading the rulebook it seems to mean you can move any ONE unit with the "Guide" action.
Watching it back, I can see the confusion. Guide let's you move a single piece - I moved two tokens, so I could show two examples (moving into a scouted space vs moving into a controlled space).
Steven there are so many people playing wargames solo that I would assume there would be an AI variant on BGG within a couple months of release. I don't have enough familiarity with solo wargames as I'm still new to that part of the hobby to fully understand some of the AIs.
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
3 questions that weren’t clear to me when reading the rules 1). When determining initiative you were showing face down cards I presume the player can review their four cards and choose which one to play. Vs having to choose one randomly face down. Do I have that right ? 2). Immediately after that you started playing a hand with four cards in the video. Presumably after the initiative card is discarded then you play with three to start? The instructions didn’t seem to indicate you draw another card 3. Instructions say for a Guide “move any combat counter x times”. Wasn’t clear to me whether you could only choose one combat counter to move or you could move as many combat counters as you wanted. You were showing a couple moving but I presume only one can move per action. Thanks!
1) Correct, you can examine your own cards. 2) That's right, for the purposes of that example, I should have only been holding 3 cards at that point. Sorry for the confusion that caused. 3) I would need a time stamp to check the example you are referring to where I was moving multiple tokens (but it's possible I was showing various move options, as opposed to executing a formal turn). You have it right though, you would move a single counter.
How can a unit token be off the board when you play a card when you only take it off when there's no cards of that unit type anymore in your hand, discard pile, or supply? So why would there be a need for it to place it on the board again?
@@LangeLijs Do you have a time stamp for the section of the video you’re asking about? I shot this long enough ago, I’m not entirely sure I understand the question.
@@WatchItPlayed@14:10 you explain what happens after a successful attack. You only remove the token if the unit isn’t in any of your piles. Then you tell that you have to place the token in the spawn area when you play a card of that unit type. But there shouldn’t be any cards left. FYI. I haven’t played the game yet, preparing for it for tonight 😅
@@LangeLijs Ah, I think I see where the confusion is coming from. Those are two separate examples, that just happen to use the same type of unit. I'm not showing the first example (at 14:10) and then carrying that situation over into the second example at 14:45. They are two separate examples. Hope that helps!
If someone attacks one of your counters really early, and you only had the 'bolster' card in your hand (or in your discard pile), does that mean you've now lost the ability to use that company for the rest of the game?
It's been awhile since I shot this, and I don't have my copy handy, so I'm not as confident as I usually like to be when answering a rules question, but I believe the answer is yes (assuming you don't have anymore of that unit in your deck to draw).
So counters that were removed from the board because their cards were removed one by one because of enemy attacks can actually come back with bolster action?! None of the soldiers are ever permanently out of the game?
It’s been long enough since I shot this, I don’t remember the exact cycle of cards and tokens, and I’m currently travelling so I can’t easily play back the video to confirm. Sorry!
It looks as though the board tiles will unintentionally be moved as players picking up and dropping their tokens. Was that the case with your play through (off camera of course)?
Seems like an interesting game. I do like the idea of having to discard your hand at the end of a round, but thematically it seems a bit odd that you cannot plan ahead. Unless I am missing something?
It's the style of game, most deckbuilders have you rinse and repeat your deak adding stronger and stronger cards as the game goes on. Not discarding your hand would mean you dont get to do it as much!
Thematically, war is often unpredictable. The Allies spent years planning and preparing for D-Day yet almost had to cancel it due to terrible weather. Meanwhile, Germany planned on the invasion coming at somewhere other than Normandy. Oops!
I just looked at it on www.coolstuffinc.com. I like them. They are located in Maitland, FL, and have good service. Another good place, in my opinion is www.miniaturemarket.com. They are near St Louis, MO.

Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
Amazingly put together video, thank you for doing this. Have this as an incoming Xmas present and this video increased my anticipation!
Merry Christmas and have a great time playing!
@@WatchItPlayed Merry Christmas and best wishes to you!
3 questions that weren’t clear to me when reading the rules
The instructions didn’t seem to indicate you draw another card
Question, if you attack an enemy and lose the attack, does anything happen to the attacker?
I shot this long enough ago that I don't recall what the video says. If the video doesn't say anything happens in that case, then nothing does.
Got it, thank you!
Did you drop the box during a spin? 18:29
Nope. Sometimes the boxes get a ding or two from shipping.
@@WatchItPlayed Fair enough :)
I witnessed it live, Rodney is very skilled in box throw!😂😀
Great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Robert!
@@WatchItPlayed Thank you for your quick response :) I guess that's just all part of the strategy!
Good game
How many times have you dropped the box?
Are you suggesting I don't catch it the first time, every time?! ;)
Sorry!
With the inspire action can i retake a card in the discard pile?
Nope, just from those you played that turn.
@@WatchItPlayed ok im stupid, reading again the rules clarified it. Thanks
@@Dezfafara88 No worries!
great job
Thanks!
0:10 Hey Rodney, quick question. How many retakes of that did you have to do? :P
First time, every time!
It looks as though the board tiles will unintentionally be moved as players picking up and dropping their tokens. Was that the case with your play through (off camera of course)?
I didn't have this problem, but I suppose it will depend on how aggressive the players are and the surface you're playing on.
Oops!
@@Milkysragdolls I understand where you are coming from and it does make sense mechanically.
@UC18p0THp5X-vw2ovIVF_Hmw This checks out, query answered.
I missed this question, but nice to see others chiming in!
@ 3:22 anyone else notice the Platoon Sgt. looks like Duke (G.I. joe)?
These box flips just keep coming! Is Rodney a Jedi or something?
Nope. I'm Canadian!
nice
very helpful!😁😇😉
The rulebook for this game is pretty horrendous. Thanks for this!
Very glad this was helpful!
how do i get this? cannot find it any where.
This releasing in August - keep an eye out for it!
I just looked at it on www.coolstuffinc.com. I like them. They are located in Maitland, FL, and have good service. Another good place, in my opinion is www.miniaturemarket.com. They are near St Louis, MO.
To determine initiative do you chose a card from your deck or randomly select?

@@WatchItPlayed Thanks! I'm still not completely sure about it but i think I may have figured it out!
Godlike explanation as always

But, real question, how many takes did that initial game flip take to get right?
Are you suggesting it wasn't on the first attempt?!?!?! *gasp*
So how many takes, to catch the game up right in the intro??
