I have a question, if the monster moves and attacks to a place where there are two heroes. In which, one of the hero is the current player's turn's hero. Do they choose the other hero to be attacked or they have to choose themselves instead?
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
I have a question on the archaeologist. When using his ability, does it take one action to pick up all items on all surrounding spaces and his own? Or does it take an action per space he picks things up from.
Does the monster take a turn after all the players have taken a turn. Such as in a 5 player game. All 5 players go. Then the monster card is drawn. Or does go player, monster, player, monster etc?
Thanks for the video. Made all of those cards and pieces a bit less overwhelming. I don't really have any questions about this game, but really liked the cooperative gameplay as opposed to the competition. Can you or anyone recommend some great, similar titles? Thanks.
Hello, great job on the video! Would you mind explaining whether hero phase goes first then switching to monster phase after the monsters are defeated... then monster phase is mini tasks from the monster deck?
I'm sorry Chessa, I don't really understand the question. Let me say it this way. On a players turn, they perform their hero phase and then the monster phase happens, and then it's the next player's turn.
Hi, I got a question: some monster cards state “for the current player.” Does that mean the next player that will be up or the player who just went? Thank you!
A player's turn includes the Hero and Monster phase - so it would apply to the player who is currently resolving their turn (ie. the one who just finished their hero phase). Hope that helps! ua-cam.com/video/p4fB42w15Tw/v-deo.html
Good video. Had a couple questions about battling Frank and his Bride. If they meet on the board and the terror track goes up, do you place them back at their starting places before the next turn? Also, do you have to defeat both of them to remove them from the board or if you defeat one can you take it out of play? Thank you
If Frankenstein and the Bride are ever in the same space before their task is completed, increase the Terror Level by one, and immediately place Frankenstein at the Graveyard and place the Bride at the Dungeon. As soon as Frankenstein and the Bride are in the same space and both of their dials are showing their faces, they are defeated. This does not require taking a Defeat action. You can't defeat just one of them, they only get defeated together.
@@WatchItPlayed okay so even if one of them has had a defeat action completed against it, the monster still walks the board until the other has received corrective consoling from the unlicensed, free lance monster therapists operating on the board? 😂
I have a question. I was playing the other day in Solo mode, and was using Dracula - he was in the same space as I was and when I rolled the 2 dice as stipulated on the current card I rolled a hit and an '!' symbol. Now, Dracula's ability states to 'Draw the current player's hero to them' but since I rolled a hit I was defeated - what happens in this case? Do I keep my hero on the same space and increase the Terror level, or take the hit and assume Dracula's special ability does not apply? Bearing in mind, it's solo play so it's always me who is the current player.
I looked everywhere I could for an answer on this and didn't find a clear answer to this situation. My sense is that the attack would resolve first, and your character is defeated first.
@@WatchItPlayed This is what I imagined would happen, I figured that once a hero is defeated they can't be brought back to the board that turn. Thanks for looking!
I have a question about the rules. If you are on a space with a villager and then you want to move to another location not by using the "move" action but by using (you or someone else) a perk card or a hero's special action, you can still take the villager with you as normal?
It depends on the wording. The game uses the terms "move" and "place" in distinct ways. When you move a hero, you can move villagers with them. When you place a hero, you cannot move villagers with them.
Sorry but it is mentioned in the RULE book. Pg7: Whenever your hero moves, whether by an action or a Perk card, you may take any villagers in your space with you. Pg15: Movement from Perk card or special action follows all.........A Hero May take any Villagers in their space with them.
Great video as always! Am I correct in assuming the monster only rolls its monster dice if it ends up on a space with a villager or Hero? So they will not be able to even use their special ! ability if they end their turn alone?
When trying to move the boat towards the lair, you use an advance action. Are you allowed to move multiple spaces with that one action if you give up multiple items?
Great job but to clarify on Frankesein's Monster and Bride, once they have been "humanified" then any villager or hero in their space does not have to worry about being attacked, correct? Also, if one is humanified but the other is not, if they meet, does that still cause a terror attack?
Hey P Stutts, they still will attack Heroes and Villagers while humanized, and if they meet before they are both humanized, they will still go into a rage, even if one of them is humanized.

This video had our game group playing Horrified immediately without issue after watching it. I would love an 'American Monsters' version of this game explanation. Help us Obi-Wan Smith, you're our only hope (I appreciate it's on Ravensburger to make this happen but hopefully you can Jedi mind trick them in to it if they're crazy enough not to have asked you already).
Thanks for the interest, and sorry to hear that version caused some confusion. I doubt I'd cover that one as I suspect the general rules are the same as this one, aside from the individual monsters.
I’d agree with this request! I just got the first game, and there’s some contradictions on how to use items and what not. If it was a small mechanic of the game, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but it completely changes how the game is played.
You, sir, have a true knack for this. Extremely well done! I honestly feel I'll be able to take it straight from the box and play immediately, and not once were you boring. Just... amazingly well done.

This game looks great. That art is so inviting. You’re on fire Rodney! How do you find the time to get all these learned, played, recorded and then edited and uploaded?
Thank you Rodney! Looking forward to playing this game tonight for the first time. Love your videos. You said "if we have any questions from anything we have seen here to leave a comment below". I have one question and I am being serious , Where did you get that epic teal shirt you are wearing?
I still hope that one of these days we'll get an accidental component drop in the opening sequence... Please leave it in should the impossible ever happen.
So there isn’t an ultimate mode where you duke it out with all 6? Is this literally an impossible task because of token shortages or just so unlikely to be winnable that it’s not even a variant worth mentioning?
Rodney Smith is the best person I’ve ever encountered for making rules explanations simple, fun, and positive. Whether there is an explanation from him plays a critical part in my decision to buy a new game. This video is no exception. Looking forward to playing this game with my family tomorrow.

That's really kind of you to say - thank you!
Great video. Picked the game up after watching this video and we all love it. Easy for the kids to pick up the rules. Love the classic monster theme too. Thanks for demonstrating.
You're very welcome - glad you all enjoyed!
It’s funny, after watching tons of “how to play” videos, Rodney is just at a different level. Thanks for showing me how to play this game that arrived today 👍
Thanks Carl, really glad you've enjoyed these videos!
I got this game today and I can't stop playing it! Thanks for showing it to me, Rodney!
So glad you’re enjoying :)
00:12 So no one is going to comment on that no look, perfect catch?
We're just so used to Rodney knocking it out of the park with everything.
It was smooth.

We've seen the blooper reel he posted.
Looks like a more accessible Arkham Horror. Cool.
Glad you liked what you saw!
Great. Waiting for it to be published in Russia.
It always surprises me just how fast the creature from the black lagoon moves compared to the other monsters. If he also happens to be the frenzied monster, it's a NIGHTMARE.
i really hope they exspaned this game with phantom of the opera and make an overlay for the Theater with new a monster and new artifacts and villager and a new way to defeat him
The Phantom does sound like an interesting monster for the expansion.
Thank you for the awesome video, Rodney! That was a sweet box top spin at the end, too. We're assuming that only took a single take. ;)
You get me :)
Glad you liked the video, it was a real pleasure to feature this game!
Just purchased this just for hearing about it and looks lol (boardgame hoarder 😅), but after seeying this I'm pretty excited to play.
Hope you have a great time with it!
Boardgames are not hoarders, we are collectors of fine vintage and modern artistic pursuits if happiness.
This game looks great. That art is so inviting.
You’re on fire Rodney! How do you find the time to get all these learned, played, recorded and then edited and uploaded?
It's my full time work, and I do my best to work efficiently! Glad you're enjoying Sam :)
Thank you Rodney! Looking forward to playing this game tonight for the first time. Love your videos. You said "if we have any questions from anything we have seen here to leave a comment below". I have one question and I am being serious , Where did you get that epic teal shirt you are wearing?
Ha! Glad you enjoyed the video and the shirt ;)
Canada.
I think you should give it a shot! :)
Rodney Smith is the best person I’ve ever encountered for making rules explanations simple, fun, and positive. Whether there is an explanation from him plays a critical part in my decision to buy a new game.
This video is no exception. Looking forward to playing this game with my family tomorrow.
I hope you have a wonderful time playing together and thank you for the kind words!
What a fun design. I love all the classic monsters. This seems like a perfect game to play at a Halloween party.
