You'll love Septimus Heap if you love Harry Potter and Middle Grade. I started reading them at 12 and just kept reading them as they came out until I was 18 and I continued to love them all the way through
Never read Septimus Heap, but I was in love with her Araminta Spookie series when I was younger. I'm sad that that series gets so little recognition because it really is such a charming middle grade book series. I still get nostalgic thinking about it.
I've nearly finished Fangirl. WHY didn't I pick it up sooner?! I was worried that the author wouldn't get fandom and make its seem strange from an adult perspective - but nope! LOVING IT. I have just ordered Carry On and it is due for delivery tomorrow. I am very very excited :) . Just started a BookTube channel and am stunned about how much it is broadening my horizons!
Hannah Hodgson One of the many frustrating things for me in Fangirl was the fact that it took place in a world with a composite Harry Potter and the book referenced Harry Potter! 😕😓😤
I hope you like the Summoner series, the third book came out this month and I'm devouring it. It's really fun and the characters are likeable and easy to root for and Ignatius (enough said).
Early! i love you so much, your channel is what got me into youtube and love books even more than i already did! you're so inspiring and i could watch your videos all day! Love you
My hardback copy of Carry On was missing like 100 pages! I was so annoyed because I was finally getting around to read it. I was like middle of the book and then I notice the scene changed drastically. First misprinted book I have run across lol
Omg Regan you have to read Eliza and her Monsters. I haven't read a book I like so much in such a long time. I read it in less than 24 hours after getting my Owlcrate. I devoured the story and I think you will completely fall in love with it.
Read Always and Forever, Lara Jean first! I'm going to reread the first two books before I read that one so I can marathon them on my first weeks of summer break
The Way of Kings audiobook is super helpful on your first read through because all of the names are super complicated so they're kind of easier to keep track of. Also Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are absolutely wonderful. I hope you enjoy Way of Kings and don't let it's size intimidate you!
I listened to Way of Kings on audible, and I'm so glad that I did. The narrators are amazing, and the story itself is fantastic! The Way of Kings is, in my opinion, slower building than Mistborn, but it's so worth it! The sequel, Words of Radiance, was also great. So glad you're diving into the series!
This is going to sound super random but Egg and Spoon reminded me. You should check out the cast recording of Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. If is a musical based on a small part of War and Peace. I know you like Russian culture and since you liked Hamilton I figured there was a chance you liked musicals in general. I think you would really enjoy it.
I read the first Septimus Heap books yeaaaars ago and loved them! Someday I need to catch up. I loved the hardbacks, they were so aesthetically pleasing. I really want to read Carry On that paperback is so pretty!! And it sounds right up my alley gosh. ONE OF THESE DAYS.
I listen to the way of Kings rather than reading it as well and absolutely loved it! the narrator's are amazing and I love the series so much can't wait for him to come out with the third book!
IM SO HAPPY YOU PICKED UP THE WAY OF KINGS!! It's one of my favourite fantasy series. The worldbuilding blew me away completely. 10/10 book. (The second book is amazing too)
OH MY GOSH! I read Septimus Heap when I was younger!!! I couldn't finish the series because the books stopped coming to my country. I do remember I didn´t like the second book as much as the first one but WOW this was a major throw back!
The way of kings is an amazing listen - I was can't believe it took me so long to read/ listen to this series. This is my boyfriends favourite book of all time ( also Sandersons!) I personally loved the second book! Hope you enjoy it!
YES to The Way of Kings. I also have it and the 2nd book in audio book format. Possibly one of my all time favorite fantasy reads. Brandon Sanderson is an absolute genius.
Septimus Heap is my childhood. I read them before Harry Potter and I absolutely adore the characters. I love to reread them every now and then to relive the magyk. Can't wait to hear your opinion of them, read them first!
I almost jumped out of my seat when you pulled Physik out! That series and Harry Potter are my childhood 😍 You rarely see anyone talking of the Septimus Heap series anymore so I just got really excited 🙈
Yes ACOWAR! Love it! Eliza and Her Monsters sounds like a fun interesting read. Lord Of Shadows yes! Need to read it! My husband read the Novice series and he loves it! Cute shirt btw!
You should read the Gregory Maguire one! I love his books, I haven't read that one.. but it sounds really good and it's so pretty! Or you know.. Lord of Shadows or ACOWAR.. because they both are going to be really good too.
Great video. I am now very interested in the egg and the spoon!!! Sounds amazing. Oh and I received my owlcrate on Thursday last week I picked up the book right away. I thought Eliza and her monsters was so awesome I had a hard time putting it down. !!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!! :)
I finished the summoner series just last week and cried during the last 50 pages so a fair warning. also, the cliffhangers are brutal lol, I hope you enjoy them too!
YEEESSSS The Way of Kings!! Honestly I think it's stronger than the Mistborn series (sacrilegious, I know...). Also the cover of The World's Greatest Detective is AMAZING AND ADORABLE AND I NEED IT NOW!!!
I keep meaning to pick up the Septimus Heap books, I read the first one ages ago and feel I need to give it another go. Finished Lord of Shadows yesterday, by the Angel I need the next one now!
Someone finally agrees with me that the Thorns and Roses series is more Adult than YA-thank you!! My high schoolers read it last year and I was like noooooo, you are too young!!
Francesca Zappia's debut novel Made You Up is a wonderful novel! Highly recommend. It's about a girl with schizophrenia who starts senior year in a public school and tries to deal with normalcy and drama of high school. Such fun, witty, sarcastic characters! Great book! One of my favorites.
I loved the Novice series! I actually just posted my review vlog of it. But it's so much fun and exciting and a very quick read! Enjoy! Oh, and The Way of Kings is a fantastic vacation book, but it does get addicting and difficult to put down!
Hey Regan! :) Have you ever read Eva Ibbotson books? I think you'd love them. From her middlegrade novels I'd recommend Journey to the River Sea or the Dragonfly pool and from her YA novels I really loved A Company of Swans. Another really great book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
I just finished reading the girl who drank the moon by Kelly Barnhill and it was soooo good! It's middle grade and I feel like you would really enjoy it !
I've been listening to The Way of Kings for awhile (it's 45 hours!) and I'm only half way through. But I love, love, love it so far! Kaladin and Shallan are the best!
oooo I just finished reading Way of Kings and it was soooo good. And now I'm reading its sequel Words of Radiance which is 50 pages longer and it's just as good. Hope you like it!
Freya Lennox It spoils a couple of things in the hero of omlypus series and part of the plot ties in to both that series and Percy Jackson. With that being said you can totally read it anyway. I was spoiled for HoO and still thought it was great. The only thing you won't know is what Apollo did to get banished. I always suggest reading Percy Jackson then HoO then Apollo but like I said you can still enjoy them out of that order depending on the type of reader you are.
Would you be interested in hauling books from the library? Sometimes they have new releases as well. I got Always and Forever Lara Jean and Into the Water from my library which was awesome!
Reagan, I LOVE your videos and your book hauls! I have a video suggestion (sorry if these get annoying): I LOVE how you read both YA and adult. I'm someone who's personally trying to mix in adult novels into my reading and need some suggestions. Do you think you could do a video where you suggest adult fiction that's not generic/well-known by the YA community (I.e. Ready Player One)? I know you have great taste and I want some good books to read over the summer, and naturally, you're the best person to ask. Thanks and love you!
Hey Regan, you should listen to Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 - it's a musical adaptation of a 70 page sliver of War and Peace, you'd love it!
Imagination_len if you go on book outlet you can get books for super cheap and barely any shipping!:) Also having amazon prime helps a ton. The key is to wait for the large sales, like at my Barnes and noble they gave 20% to 30% for about three days:) also amazon has used books you can buy for about four dollars each if you don't mind them looking a little used. Hope this helps!
Like jewel said, check us out! www.bookoutlet.com. All of our books are 50-90% off retail price every day, plus Regan has her own page to shop the books she's bought: bookoutlet.com/Vloggers/Details/regans-reads?rid=regan :)! ^MO
jewel DiSalvo. YEAH thanks for the suggestions! but unfortunately shipping for international is very expensive, and im not yet used to online shopping! but ill be trying it very soon! Thanks soo much Jewels!😀😊
Sorry to hear about the international shipping situation! Unfortunately books are heavy so they tend to cost quite a bit to ship internationally :(. Hopefully you can get amazing books still! ^MO
yes definitely need to read Percy Jackson and heroes of Olympus first as there are spoilers for both series in trails Apollo but also references and stuff that you definitely won't understand if you haven't read either of the other series you probably wont know whats going on for most of it if you haven't read Percy Jackson so basically yes lol
Honesty I've been watching Regan's videos for so long she feels like an old friend.
Same here, it feels that way for everyone in the main Booktube squad
The paperback cover of Carry On is just GORGEOUS
Jay G I never buy multiple copies of a book, but that cover. Holy 😍😍😍
Jay G YES!! That cover is 👌🏻
Jay G ikr!! almost makes me regret buying the first edition...
Egg & Spoon sounds so cool and the cover is so so gorgeous!!
Happy reading!
Btw I'm loving the top you're wearing!
You'll love Septimus Heap if you love Harry Potter and Middle Grade. I started reading them at 12 and just kept reading them as they came out until I was 18 and I continued to love them all the way through
Hannah O same! I still read Angie Sages new books (Pathfinder series) and I'm 21 now 😁 Her books are basically my childhood.
I haven't read Pathfinder yet, but now I'm intrigued, maybe I'll give it a go
Hannah O Me too! They're still my favourite books to this day 😍
Never read Septimus Heap, but I was in love with her Araminta Spookie series when I was younger. I'm sad that that series gets so little recognition because it really is such a charming middle grade book series. I still get nostalgic thinking about it.
Great haul! I thought the same with ACOTAR series being described as young adult, it's deffo new adult!

James Lawner Have to agree with you there... if you ignore that though the whole thing is well written. (no spoilers please, I'm not done yet!!)
Regan you are one of my favourite youtubers and I am always happy when you post!❤❤
I LITERALLY SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THE NEW CARRY ON COVER IT IS SO GORGEOUS I CANT
Yay! May was an awesome month for books! So many amazing books to read! Eliza sounds super cute - I hadn't heard of it before.

Love you
"excuse me I'm dead" 🤣🤣
My hardback copy of Carry On was missing like 100 pages! I was so annoyed because I was finally getting around to read it. I was like middle of the book and then I notice the scene changed drastically. First misprinted book I have run across lol
Love that you brought up the Novice!! I just started reading it this week!
I LOVE egg and spoon so much!!! Randomly ran across it in my school's library and adored it. I desperately want a physical copy
the egg and the spoon sounds so good, and the cover has me even more obsessed with wanting to read it.. brb *runs and grabs wallet*
Connor O'Brien does really good reviews of The Summoner trilogy. He convinced me to pick them up :)
Omg Regan you have to read Eliza and her Monsters. I haven't read a book I like so much in such a long time. I read it in less than 24 hours after getting my Owlcrate. I devoured the story and I think you will completely fall in love with it.
The Novice is so good! It's a really unique & different fantasy series! I've never read another YA series like it
Read Always and Forever, Lara Jean first!
I need to read Fangirl and Carry On ASAP.
Regan, I loved Egg and Spoon and I think you're going to love it too! Definitely read that one soon!

The Way of Kings is, in my opinion, slower building than Mistborn, but it's so worth it! The sequel, Words of Radiance, was also great. So glad you're diving into the series!
I just recently bought The Novice, too! 😊
So exited to hear what you think of it!

The Way Of Kings audiobook is awesome but you should also pick up a physical copy to see all the amazing illustrations!

Either Carry On because it's so good and so awesome or ACOWAR
Can you read trials of Apollo without having read Percy Jackson?
Freya Lennox you have to read them , there are some things you wouldnt understand

I would love to read Fangirl and Carry On and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to which I should read first?

I think your to-be-read list might be rivaling mine at this point! How many is in your stack?
The NY Times classifies A Court of Thorns and Roses as a children's series! A children's series!
Reagan, I LOVE your videos and your book hauls! I have a video suggestion (sorry if these get annoying): I LOVE how you read both YA and adult. Hey Regan, you should listen to Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 - it's a musical adaptation of a 70 page sliver of War and Peace, you'd love it!
I cant even buy myself 5 books with a 100$! and you have that huge pile! EVERY MONTH!!

I wish I could buy so many books... something with no room and not that much money.. bought 4 books this month, that is like the exception
Do you HAVE to read Fangirl before reading Carry On?
I think A Court of Wings and Ruin is the last book (I have read online that it's a trilogy), and it's soooo sad😞
