Sunset Spot #1 (Lighthouse) and #5 (Imerovigli) are NO LONGER REACHABLE. Spot #1 got fenced off by the owner, as he doesn't want to be liable if someone gets injured on his property. Spot #5 is also fenced off, a hotel is going to be built there.
They have now a small iron fence (around 50 cm in height) over which you can easily pass over. I saw some people going there, and we went after them, and no one told us anything.
I will be going back to Santorini this September and I will probably check out at least one of these spots, but to be fair - while these sunsets do seem beautiful - I would still recommend doing the Oia sunset at least once if you can live with the crowds. It is simply unique. I've done it 5 years ago and never regretted it. It's by far the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen in my life.

Santorini feels like heaven on earth with the tiny houses cosily huddled together. Amazing weather, friendly people!! Be careful with the food prices here though, they really rip off tourists, the prices are higher than most expensive cities in the west like Berlin, Paris maybe at par with London. 15 Euros on average for 1 small meal and thats without taxes, most restaurants show prices before Tax!
I'm planing on going to Greece and spend a least one month...I'm planning on spending time in different villages cities but I would like to stay like in bed and breakfasts or homes...also I would like to have a tourist guide for some days like Athens Santorini and the moneatari3s...please let me know how I can get that . I am not travelling on low budget, but I feel kinda cheated if I have to pay 100€ deposit for a sunset view table in Oia. From all the options, which one would you consider the BEST option when travelling with 60+ year old mum who gets sea sick at times and can't walk forever? :( I want to give her the experience but I also don't want to torture her with a long hike into the wilderness or/and go sailing. We are visiting mid-May.

I don’t understand the hype for the sunset in Santorini especially. The sun sets in all of the greek islands. They’re all very beautiful. I planned on skipping Santorini altogether, but the cheapest airplane to go back home took off from there. Then the volcano and the hike are on my bucket list, not really the sunset..
Probably not because the sun rises East, which is the much less interesting side of Santorini. Caldera Cliffs are facing West, that's why sunSETS are so iconic, and sunrises not really.
What about FIRA? I’m with a large group in 2025 and we might need , perhaps, to hire a minibus only for us in Santorini. Definitely not going for the sunset at OIA . Any suggestions?

Hey Vasili, yes totally safe to walk back down to Oia and then take a bus. After the sun sets, there's still 30min of twilight, which is more than enough to go down.

Where does the sun rise? We wake early and would prefer sunrises.
The sun rises in the East, so on the "beach side" of the island : Kamari, Perissa, Monolithos.
