Which of the 2 links did you use? Also, I know you're saying it's tiny, but how did you know which car was yours? Was someone waiting for you, or were other instructions given to you in advance?
@@user-zv7cc2ne7i I used the first link for the transfer, second link for a car we rented for part of our trip. They had a sign for us. The arrivals area is just one big room, and you deplane onto the tarmac. Tiny!!
Once again your the man , your the man to go to for a superb guide I've been to Santorini 3times on cruises and this time intend to stay for a fortnight we will probably hire a car for the whole fortnight and have a real good look around the beautiful island regards Sebastian,😀😀

Such helpful advice here! Thank you. The hotel I booked in Santorini offers free airport transfer but when I’ve emailed them ahead to try to coordinate pick up I haven’t gotten any response. Perhaps we will try the bus to Fira instead as that sounds like the next best option for us…

One question tough: We are visiting santorini at the end of the week and have a hotel for the first night in MONOLITHOS. Is it reasonable to walk there or what would you recommend us to do for transfer?
If you dont mind walking 20-25min, then yes i d walk. Otherwise, have your hotel organize a transfer, it should be around 15-20€.

For now, the last bus from the airport to Fira is at 23:10 (The previous one is at 22:10)

Nearly all rentals have systems in place for you to drop off the car at whatever point in the night, and they go to pick it up when they start working.

The last bus from the airport to Fira should be around 22:00, so you should be okay. But better double check the timetables online before arriving, just to make sure ;-)

Do the hotels in Greece require a deposit upon checking in like they do here in the US? For example, when I check into a hotel here in the US, they would need $100 deposit in addition to the price of the hotel and will give back the deposit upon check out. Is the same for hotels in Greece?

Question about renting through the links you've provided, for a car to be brought to us. We arrive at the airport at 7a, if we arrange for a car to be delivered to us there, how do we know which one is ours? Will there be someone with a sign, similar to the drivers waiting from the private transfers?

Can we rent a scooter or eScooter(mopeds) at or around the airport? In your video, scooters (option 6) were not mentioned.
There are many moped rentals, like Moto Manos for instance, but I dont know if they bring mopeds to the airport, since they're based in Fira. You should ask them.
Is there usually only 1 bus an hour at the airport to fira? I’m hoping to get the bus but worried if it’s full by the time I get there as don’t want to then wait an hour for another in the heat
Yes only 1 per hour, but it rarely fills up coz the majority of tourists go for the shared transfers / hotel transfers option ;-)

Oia isnt expensive as people make out. Somethings were even cheaper than fira. Like soft drinks for 1.50 a bottle while fira charge 2.00 euro
Best gyro and souvlaki also in oia. Not them recommend places in fira like luckis and the other place opposite mcdonalds
Buses also give change. All buses now give change.
Greeks are very honest people. U pay exacty what it says on menu. They always give you receipt even when when i dont need one because they want to make sure i know im not being over charged.
Hotel quality, fira was better even though cheapsr. My hotel in oia didnt have hot water. 500euro a night no hot water and teethbrush provided.

What categories of driving license for which vehicles are needed. There is no such reliable information on the web.
Hey Mariusz. I cant because there are over 100 car rentals on the island and the only way to know how good they are is to actually a rent a car from them. And I dont feel like renting 100 cars this summer. Concerning licenses, it's the generic license for all vehicles except for moped which require a 2 wheeler license.
Is transport available from Airport after midnight ? For a flight that lands in Santorini, late night around 2 am, what transport option is easily available at the airport at that time for commuting to the hotel. Do buses run from airport around this time of night ?
No buses nor shared transfers at night. Only taxis and hotel transfers will operate.

@@miamifoodtrucksevents Has to be an international DL. Minimum age to drive in Greece is 18. For ATVs and Buggies you need a normal car drivers license. For a moped you need a special 2-wheeler DL.

Yes you can rent a car directly at the ferry port.
I just tried to use your link for my bus transfer booking but the time the bus leave is 12pm and I arrive at 5pm. Did I understand in a wrong way or is it really like that?
Hey ! Their transfers operate from 8am to 10pm. If you land within this timeframe, you can book it, and then write them your exact time of arrival.

Take the road through Fira or take the road on the opposite side of the Caldera, passing the Domaine Sigalas winery?

If you drive slowly and carefully, both routes are safe :D
But for sure the road through the hills is much more winding. If you want a nice and straight road, take the one of the East coast passing through Sigalas.
