@@dorianfinkelsteinthe problem with copiers is they have zero imagination of their own. No ingenuity and a willingness to do new things. It’s quite sad, really.
About 15 years ago, I was in the watch industry and my job was to outsource component manufacture (mostly cases and movement parts) to China. Back then Panerai, Rolex, Hublot, Breitling--you name it--sent me case tooling for Chinese manufacturers to use. This is when Noob and other super clone makers took off because they immediately copied the genuine tooling the manufacturers gave them. Clone Rolexes took off because the cases, bracelets (and initially rough) movements were interchangeable with genuine. The Chinese are VERY good with movements and I still have a clone Milgauss from 15 years ago that runs amazing--but they did not care about finishing a movement no one would ever see. Now the movement finishing is decent, but the cases and dials are almost indistinguishable from genuine. I tried to tell people for years that this all began with Rolex and the others providing the genuine tooling, but no one believed me. Now, the Chinese have 3D scanners that allow them to replicate any part to very high tolerance. So, once again you gotta ask--does it make sense to pay for a "genuine" when both are made from the same tooling?
Interesting, I did not know that. I do know that my Noob (no longer in business but "clean" factory took over the daytona mantle) is virtually indistinguishable from the Swiss made one. I don't wear it much though, it really is not that great a watch.
Exactly. Many people just go after rolex watches and they don't care how overvalued they are. Many people just assume they are all hand made and thats why they have the cost they do; (which of course they aren't). At the end of the day though, does it really matter if the watch is made in China or Switzerland? The only rule for a swiss made product is to have 60% of its value made in switzerland. If I really had my heart set on an extremely popular watch like a rolex then I would probably consider a super clone. I say this as a watch enthusiast too... even though I have some expensive watches, I don't buy them for prestige/brand recognition, I get them because I like the aesthetic and the mechanics behind them.
No, a "genuine" is just an expensive fake. The 99% of what you pay for a "genuine" goes to marketing like those celebrity ambassadors for the brands, boutiques rentals and other expenses, just like how iphone pricing constructed
@draakisback disagree. people buy rolexes because they last forever and retain value. I have friends that paid 800 for a submariner 40 years ago. it's worth 10x that and he wears it. you spend 800 on a superclone your 800 is gone. you pay retail and you make money 💰

Great video but, an obvious problem that he doesn’t seem to note is that on the inner bezel the Rolex crown isn’t perfectly centered, it’s off slightly clockwise. You don’t need any other information if you see a problem like this.
It's very important to keep in mind that although the cosmetic similarity is ~90% for some of these super clones, the overall quality of the super clones might be hitting the ~30-40% mark. The categories are as follows: longevity, build quality, precision, serviceability, and finish. Simply making it "look" like the real thing does not guarantee any level of quality throughout the aforementioned categories. These movement manufacturers do not harden or temper their steel components. Carbon steel is used when manufacturing high-quality screws, springs, pinions, etc. Once the components are manufactured, they are then hardened by super-heating and quenching in cooling liquid making it "glass" hard or "yellow" hard. It is then "blued" or tempered. This ensures that these steel components will last a lifetime if they are serviced regularly. The replica factories are using soft metals for the same components limiting the longevity and build quality. It's simply not possible to make the same product and sell it for < $1,000 USD nor do they intend to.
Watching the video closely at 0:57 on my OLED 55" TV @4k I can see the hands on the replica are thicker and have a rough finish on all edges, while the original hands are polished, thinner than the replica on the inside edge and more thinner on the outside edges.
The easiest way to tell on that model Daytona is that the clone is usually on a wrist, while the real one is usually in the box, in a bank vault. The replica seldom lasts very long, since it cannot be taken to a service center for standard servicing.
Amazing how good the fakes are now that you need a microscope and/or take the backing off to examine the parts inside. All for under a $1000. It might be a "fake" Rolex but in reality it's still a really nice, well made watch.
Because in this day, where everyone carries a phone that gives you exact time, and a $10 Casio just is more accurate than a $30,000 Rolex, it is the stories and historical background that give these watches their value. Build a Rolex, Panerai or Omega super clone to sell for $1,000, and people will fall over themselves to give you their money. Build a watch of the same quality with a comparable design and give it an unknown brand name, and people will ask why should they spend so much on your watch when they could get a Seiko for half the price?
TBH, the most obvious comparator for me initially was the finish quality of the hands. On the original they are crisp and well finished, whereas on the fake they're pretty poor 0:55 is a perfect shot
Side by side, some points are identical to understand if it is fake or not. But if you don't have an original one to compare it is not easy to understand.
At least 'they' will let you buy the replica. It really disappoints me that UK Rolex agents stonewall new customers and just look after existing customers. Ive therefore given up on owning a new Rolex.
Hi I have a very very important question for you, I hope you can answer. Does the 116500ln always have a Laser Etched Crown on the crystal? If everything else on the watch is right and the LEC is not present then does it mean the crystal was replaced?
Excellent video highlighting the differences. Concise and informative. Now how much does it cost to own a authentic Daytona(?)vs. $1000 Fake and do these differences justify the price difference?
A steel Daytona like that is easily 30 grand on the secondary market, though only 15 thousand from Rolex. The problem is that actually *getting* a watch from Rolex is like pulling hens' teeth. I know someone who really, really wanted a 40mm two-tone Submariner, and went to an AD with cash in hand. Got told "wait list is 2 years". I did similar looking for a plain 36mm Explorer. Same problem.
@@caseydarrah Thanks. So if you want the Rolex Daytona and actually have 15k, you still can’t get one immediately unless you pay double? In this situation, if I wanted a Daytona, I’d buy the clone while I waited. Depending on the clone’s performance, I might even remove my name from the waitlist and use that money on something else.
"Rolex is the GOAT when it comes to chronometer testing on an industrial scale" Really? The Rolex Superlative Chronometer testing is inferior to METAS. Hell, rather awkwardly, Tudor's METAS certified movements are better than Rolex. This is the same for Omega's METAS movements.
Other than the sweep second hand motion, why duplicate the movement? Are they trying to fool jewelers? One could make a quartz movement duplicate the second hand movement I presume, or they could use any mechanical movement to get the "ticking". I mean, the idea of a replica is to fake having an expensive watch, but no casual observer can see the inside of the watch.. I guess I just don't get the whole replica stuff.
The day will come when technology and AI is advanced to stage where factories can reproduce identical watches. Its your choice, whether to go for a real or a super super clone, however you have to ask yourself this question, would you wear a fake gold plated chain that looks identical to the real gold chain, I mean nobody with naked eyes can tell what you are wearing is the real thing? Watches are the same as jewelry/ diamonds, it has no practical use unless you are still from the dinosaur era with no smart phones or friends, for me the "real" value of the watch is whats important.
Honestly if its that good then i prefer to buy the counterfeit. Makes sense to buy. No one is goin to stop you and ask you to let them open ur watch to see inside of it.
Wow, the comments in here have become a commercial for numerous scam sites 😂. I prefer to comment about this guys great job on how to spot a fake expensive watch. Thanks a lot, great job! My questions to you are: - With the knowledge that you have, could you make the perfect copy, kinda like when you compare synthetic diamonds vs “real” diamonds where you can’t tell the difference? And if so, how much would i cost/ would it be worth it? Thanks again!
Thank you for the wholesome comment and question! I am certain that not only I but these factories producing even this watch above could make something that would be nearly impossible to identify however, the cost is the main barrier here. The average replica watch buyer or collector would not spend more than $500 to $800 USD on a fake watch. This limits the manufacturers to a much lower cost than they would need to produce something of genuine quality. The replica seen above might look 90% similar but when it comes to the steps they are skipping, namely the hardening and tempering step for screws, pinions, springs, etc. the quality throughout the entire movement is closer to 10-15% similar in quality. This is the small fact that I see being ignored in the comments. It's simply not possible for them to follow all of the traditional steps to produce something and sell it for $500USD. That is what makes the genuine watches worth every penny (not to mention the obvious market value that is not something you get with the replica which is 100% a sunk cost).
In other words without opening and comparing the watch with a real one he can't distinguish the real from the replica... Bonus points for actually buying a high end rep with actual clone movement, they do go for around $700-$1000. Lesser ones go for around $380, they use a modified A7750 movement, they'll fail fast and need a service out of the box to keep them going for the next 4 years. But the case, bracelet, dial is still 1:1 clone and impossible to tell without comparison between the two. There's no shame on not seeing or knowing the difference without comparison to the real deal, clones are great for watchmakers who need to practice as they can now screw up a $1000 clone instead of a $15000 watch.
Bought a fake to see what the fuss was about. On the outside at first glance its impossible to tell. Fully automatic etc. But the feel of the watch when moving the dials just isnt right. The way things move, like the extra 24hr hand is just way off. Little bit of play etc. Easy to tell.
I thought about to buy a Superclone Daytona, Just because I like the look of it so much. But i feel bad to have a "25.000€ watch" on my arm which isn't.
The colour difference of the three black dials is quite obvious. The ink used on the rep is too shiny and miss it by a shade or two. In general it is the most obvious give away, since we can see the shiny sub dials from a mile. (Or I can)
Years ago people were laughing at these knock offs because they were cheaply made and very poor quality. No one is laughing now. Imagine you could buy something that is very close to the genuine for 1/10 of its price or cheaper, why would you buy the real thing?
I have been on the waiting list for a Daytona for three years now. And there is no telling if or when I will get one. I will never buy a fake Rolex. And I will never buy from the grey market.

Pls keep upload content like this bro.
We love it
No mention of the holographic crown at 6 o’clock?
At 0:54 Look at the edges of the hour and minute hands. Authentic finished beautifully fake looks like it’s been cut with an angle grinder
And with this review….replica manufacturer have taken down all the differences for next update😅
Thanks for a great informative video! Can you do the same for GMT Master with 3285 movement ?
TBH, the most obvious comparator for me initially was the finish quality of the hands. On the original they are crisp and well finished, whereas on the fake they're pretty poor 0:55 is a perfect shot
Why does the embossing on the numbers around the bezel look different? Is that just from wear?
Thanks for the review. I will go straight for the replica 😂 spot on Mate !!
Side by side, some points are identical to understand if it is fake or not. But if you don't have an original one to compare it is not easy to understand.
I love the fact that there is a PG granddaddy gunpla in the back of you desk 😎
Those issues that u pointed out that makes the replica the replica for 1k, If they were corrected, that is the rolex price justify?
I have to say that the particular factory that makes this replica watch is very good quality could you tell us where we can buy from??
There are talks about El Primero movements that it's not possible to replicate them. Can you do a review for Chronomaster Sport?
The million dollar question... with $500 more could make it closer to the original?
Fake factory watching this video :
Ok thanks, see you next year😂
What about 114300 (white) comparsion? Looking forward.
Hi, what would it cost you to make a rolex watch from scratch if you could source all the original parts. Lets say this specific watch?
I'm on the hunt for a unique and stylish replica. Any recommendations?
Deep crystal would fix the dial colour 😉
In what country is the replica factory?
"Rolex is the GOAT when it comes to chronometer testing on an industrial scale" Really? The Rolex Superlative Chronometer testing is inferior to METAS. Hell, rather awkwardly, Tudor's METAS certified movements are better than Rolex. This is the same for Omega's METAS movements.
Subbed because of this vid, keep it up!
best comparison video I've ever seen 👍
Great video, but is the original worth 12 times the price of the replica?
I’m super happy I found your channel
Could you do an episode comparing a real flux capacitor to one of the fakes out there.
One thing you’ve gotten wrong. Its not $1000. They’re cheaper.
Hey, where can I find the best watches these days?
Great content, congrats guys!!
Honestly if its that good then i prefer to buy the counterfeit. Makes sense to buy. No one is goin to stop you and ask you to let them open ur watch to see inside of it.
why do i feel like the one you label replica has higher level of finish?
Wow, the comments in here have become a commercial for numerous scam sites 😂. I prefer to comment about this guys great job on how to spot a fake expensive watch. Thanks a lot, great job! My questions to you are:
- With the knowledge that you have, could you make the perfect copy, kinda like when you compare synthetic diamonds vs “real” diamonds where you can’t tell the difference?
This is a great video. Thank you.
Excellent video and explanation 👌
Do they make fake ones in gold / steel/ gold ?
Great piece. I'd be stuffed if I didn't have a real Rolex to compare to the fake.
Rolex owners must get pissed off when people think they are a fake owner trying to be something else. pointless buying one.
tell you what, that Gundam in the background ain't fake
@wristcheck where is the replica from?
I thought about to buy a Superclone Daytona, Just because I like the look of it so much. But i feel bad to have a "25.000€ watch" on my arm which isn't.
where did you buy the fake from? I am just asking out of curiosity... don't actually want to buy one...
This is scary close. A few years and we won't be able to tell anymore.
This is unique content!!! Keep it up!
The colour difference of the three black dials is quite obvious. The ink used on the rep is too shiny and miss it by a shade or two. In general it is the most obvious give away, since we can see the shiny sub dials from a mile. (Or I can)
That RX-78-2 is 🔥
Years ago people were laughing at these knock offs because they were cheaply made and very poor quality. No one is laughing now. Imagine you could buy something that is very close to the genuine for 1/10 of its price or cheaper, why would you buy the real thing?
Where i can buy? Anybody know?
I have been on the waiting list for a Daytona for three years now. And there is no telling if or when I will get one. I will never buy a fake Rolex. And I will never buy from the grey market.
Link to fake please ;-)
Very good explaination.
Can you tell me where I can buy a replica submarine like the one you have made comparisons on please
Great vid!
best customer support
This is why a Christopher Ward 300 Trident is comparable in many respects to the Rolex at 5-10% of the cost,
Outstanding video
