When saintmillion uploads two times a month: A suprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
We truly live in blessed times
It’s the Rule of Two.
They actually adapted that TCW Episode into a Rebels episode, giant Kyber crystal and all.
Wasn't it just a giant synthetic crystal?
It is both an odd and welcome change for a lore video to actually have a cohesive direction and script instead of just reading straight off the wiki.
I love that they gave an excuse to why Jedi only used Green, and Blue sabers in the prequels, even though yellow, orange, and purple were used commonly in the EU. In reality it was just George Lucas thinking very narrow mindedly about colors.
*"Bad Guys are red, good guys are Blue, and Green"* - George Lucas, on AotC set
And then Sam L. Jackson saying :"nah, mine will be purple, end of the discussion".
@@afterburner94 nah he asked very politely, I love that exchange.
Sam: " 🙁 ... no purple lightsabers?"
George: " ... you might get purple?..."
Sam: 😃
Kyle Rendar Well... Episode 3 Vader says hi.
Seems like the best thing Kyber crystals were used for from a story perspective were their color changing properties. Glad they weren't used as power macguffins in the movies.
I didn't know a 12 minute video about space rocks could be so interesting but here I am.
This video was really well written and edited, and reminded me why I once used to love Star Wars more than anything.
Disney have made me *hate* the franchise completely, and utterly... but sometimes it's nice to hear about the *good* lore, from a more civilised age...
Before the dark times... before the "First Order"...
More like the Last Chaos
Don't let Disney turn you against Star Wars. Their canon is merely fanfiction. We all know the true stories.
Nah fuck this shit, it’s not lore just video game mechanics
@@Proto1Dude well said and I fully agree
@@Proto1Dudeohhhh noooo, half the Disney lore came from stuff that Lucas created but let's hate on it
I hope that the new canon has Luke using Qui Gin’s crystal, that would be a rare new canon improvement in my eyes
Well... In Legends, the only reason the modern Lightsabers made by force-sensitives are special is that they meditate on the crystal... Thusly a Lightsaber made by a non-force-sensitive (a Lightfoil) would simply be a technological item... (basically the same as the Death Star)
I much prefer Legends lore concerning light sabre crystals than canon. Excellent deep dive into his fascinating subject.
Coming from a walking Star Wars encyclopedia, I'm loving this series. Keep it coming, friend!
I like the black lightsaber more when it's shaped like a traditional lightsaber rather than katana design. But both look cool.
Major props and kudos to you for being one of the few people I've ever seen pronounce Mimban correctly
Wasn't it also hinted in SWBF2 (2005) that palpatine got kyber crystals for the death star?
Yea on mygeeto ahhh I miss those days
Man I did NOT know there was this much lore for the sabers
Disney missed out on all this lore that made Star Wars what it is. Hell, most of Legends is the reason why Star Wars is still relevant, because it wasn't JUST the movies that made this franchise the GOAT that it is. Yes, the movies started it, but the novels and video games EXPANDED it into a whole galaxy of lore and stories.
They shouldn't have sold it to disney
@@jacobmoore6703they didn't sell it, Lucas did it
Calling every lightsaber crystal a Kyber crystal is like calling every sword an "excalaber" and every goblet a "holee graile"
Yeah, that's always bothered me personally.
That's a new canon thing. Back in Legends, they were just called lightsaber crystals.
Btw, is your name a reference to Jedi Apprentice?
@@wilhufftarkin8543 Yeah, I remember. My username is a reference to Gargoyles, but I know the character you mean.
@@wilhufftarkin8543kyber crystals thing originated from Lucas
I dunno if I should be mad or amused at the Sonic damage pun being the drowning noise. But, the video was rad!
I’m loving this, do more
I still think the Sith corrupting kyber crystals is a great addition and fits them so well. Sith don’t create, they take and corrupt everything they touch.
Great work man, love this series.
Loving these lore videos so much
love your stuff man keep it up!!
I like the kyber crystal TCW unaired episode got remade into a Rebels dual episode.
A fine addition to add to my collection
Loving this series
Thanks for another great video!
I've been looking forward to this.
Just found these videos but I'm binging tf out of them lol
The idea of kiber crystal's powering the destar has been an idea older than you mention The force unleashed 2008 the nintendo DS version you specifically smash one over a droid Is to end a boss fight So that idea has been around at least later in legends
Glad he’s uploaded more
Nice. I enjoy your content.
Best UA-cam channel ever.
I had thought the crystals were tuned by the user through the force, thus conducting the specific energy pattern of the user, thus acclimating the weapon to the user as an extension of their self. Not so much a force power capacitor/mini conductor but more like a sensor that binds the user to their weapon to improve instinctive usage. But it seems that in addition to that, Legends is (indirectly) playing with the idea that crystalline structures somehow synchronize with the force but only specific ones dip into the (cosmic) force’s power enough to be potent enough for lightsaber creation, along with all the other powers listed. Still, I still prefer the Legends version because it feels like cannon has lost the technical for mysticism rather than giving both their due- frankly it’s absurd to call a kyber crystal “alive” because it somehow conducts force energy (Might as well call power cells “self aware”) aside from how crystals and minerals have amazing organic like patterns to them without even delving into force shenanigans. While I appreciate the sith technique of reforging a crystal in their own hands to make it red and super charged and call it “bleeding” as a way to reinforce their sith ideology. What I don’t appreciate is that crystals that conduct the force are neither created nor can be created at all in cannon Which for me puts too much emphasis on the magical item like status of lightsaber crystals rather than being a pragmatic albeit critical components of a greater whole. Canon plays around with the idea that the crystals alone make a lightsaber and the metal that makes the hilt is little more than a club that holds the magic power rock rather than the crystal (tuned both by the force to make the lightsaber and tuned to the user) makes the control of plasma into the elegant form we see possible.
That's the Disney retcon. In the original (imo true canon) the lightsabers are a dangerous an niche technology that uses specific types of crystals for focusing the energy and the sith usually had a ritual where they focused their hate and anger in a forge to create a synthetic crystal for their lightsaber. Ancient sith/dark jedi would use the normal colored sabers that jedi would use. The Disney "magic" lightsabers are just dumb as far as I'm concerned
@@TheSmokingMustache That’s pretty much where I stand too. I would buy into the idea that a force user can attune themselves to the focus crystal to improve lightsaber use but like you said, I don’t care for the magical explanation Disney has gone for.
@@watch50er I would too, but more along the lines that the physical structure of the crystal lends itself to that, or more along the fact that as one puts practice, focus and care into their weapon it tends to become part of them, following the whole extension of oneself, just more since the force haha
@@TheSmokingMustache all of the above and better written than I did
Kyber Crystal analyst who smuggles on the side
i wonder if Darksiders, used them for Sith amulets and talismans
Disney's retcon of Khyber crystals is for me one of the worst things they ever did. In the true original canon lightsabers were a niche technology that seemed to just be known to the jedi and sith, having the fact that when the sith lost the war the first time and left to their new home world they didnt have access to the crystals that were natural and so began forging their own with hate and anger from the force which is how they made synthetic crystals that were red. None of this "bleeding" BS. I hate a lot of the Disney fanfic lore but the drastic change of the lightsabers if one of the worst for me personally. When I first heard about how they had changed it I knew that Star Wars would never be the same if they were so eager to alter such basic fundamental lore science for no particular reason.
In addition, LOVE your videos, they remind me of when Star Wars was a well thought out and intriguing universe and highlights just how shallow and bad the Disney times are. I've observed that Disney loves to just make up whatever is convenient for the "story" they are telling, like trains, treaded desert bikes, clothing etc. Whereas everything before it followed the specific areas design language and functions, it always felt more organic and real but has become a Lego set with no rules being adhered to.
Legends never will be topped
HA! You guys do know the idea of kyber crystals being that way came from Lucas. Man, I can seriously tell you guys never read interviews. The bleeding crystals thing came from Lucas himself
@@whateverwhatever4476 When? I'm just referring to the original official materials sold back in the '90s. If Lucas came up with it well, it's still terrible haha, remember, Han Solo was originally gonna be a frog man XD
@@TheSmokingMustache wait, for real? Huh, yeah. I can see that. The whole bleeding crystals thing came from him. It's a whole spiritual thing and can tie into the force according to him.
@@whateverwhatever4476 Damn, see I look at that as kind of ruining a lot about the force users, I always liked the lightsaber being kind of an ultimate sword and just too dangerous for others to use seriously. Then keeping all the spiritual force nature strictly to the people. *shrug* oh well I guess
One of the best novel descriptions was Darth Maul forging his crystals and it was so badass haha
Oh shit my boy uploaded again
How would a fire lightsaber work or a lighting lightsaber
Less cutty more burny zappy
Kyber crystals now are just over glorified mood rings, change my mind
(Legends never die)
Yes
Please do an episode on slicing?
wow see disny legends had a resion in univers for windus purple saber
Saintmillion big fan. I believe you should make a video about the resurgence of battlefront 2 2017. ive looked at your channel and you havent really covered it. heck its free on epic games for the celebration edition! giv it a download n make a video :))
Need an ewok lore video

10:30 Looks like a giant pickle.
You wouldn't happen to be a wook8e main would you?
"How me da money"
I wish you were my dad... dad? Is that you? Dad?
Is the world ending?
One of the very few changes I like in the nu canon is consolidation of what can be used in lightsabers. Having only one type of crystal, that can be felt in the Force, to focus the blade makes so much more sense lore-wise than just throwing in one (or more) of the dozens of different things that have cropped up over the four decades prior. Maybe that's just me though!
Agreed! Especially the removal of synthetic crystals lol
Star Wars cannon is spaghetti.
