YES MAME...I WROTE THIS DOWN. THIS IS EXACTLY HOW MY FAMILY MADE THEM. I ALWAYS WATCHED BUT NEVER HAD A GOOD DOUGH RECIPE TIL I SEEN YOURS. THANK YOU MOMMAW!!!! FOREVER GRATEFUL.
Mrs. Joan, these look wonderful. Can’t wait to try it. You could teach a class to teenagers and young married couples. Especially showing different ways of doing the same thing. Thank you.
Love to see ladies sharing recipes from the past so our younger cooks can learn what good food taste like and how easy they are. Fried pies has almost become a lost art. Which is sad because they're really very simple to do and oh, soooo good. Thanks for sharing. Just found your site, but it won't be the last time.
I love these and your videos! You remind me of my own Mom who has been in heaven for 15 years now. I might try the Philadelphia cream cheese filling with the blueberry! Your adorable! Thank you Ms Joan! God bless you!
BTW you could take the scrap dough , cut dough into small pieces, add a spoon of full of sugar, along with sprinkle of cinnamon to the dough, stir in a little apple pie fillings to the dough, form mixture into paddies and fry them up. Wow Apple Fritters.
Ooh, I'll have to try those fruit fillings. Thank you. I make these all the time but with savory fillings like meat, shrimp or cod. Any latin country has their own version, and we call them, empanadas. We also make sweet versions like "dulce de leche", which is caramel or cream cheese and guava. Super yummy. 😊
I'm so excited to find your channel!!! I'm Ruth's daughter,Barbara's daughter Lisa!! So we're kin, but I didn't get the cooking gene!! I'm so excited first your videos!!! Congratulations in your show❤❤❤
Oh my goodness!! I’ve made apple fry pies, but not the others. But I am going to try these for sure!! I just found your channel and I’m so glad I did. God bless you Miss Joan and your family and channel!!
Mrs. Joan, I made peach & pecan fried pies today. I am definitely going to try your cream cheese & blueberry fried pies here in the near future. Thank you for the demo! 👍. I don't have a crimper or a shifter. Have a blessed day 🌈💚🙏💚🌈.
I just found your channel today and I was really impressed and thoroughly enjoyed your bubbly personality and presentation so much that I subscribed immediately! I look forward to viewing more of your presentations. The pies looked so delicious and I'm planning on making some in the very near future.
I just told my husband what I was watching, and he said "those sound good!" with a hopeful look in his eye. *laughs* Good thing we have some apples in the fridge...
Mom used to make these because Dad loved them. Sometimes she'd do the crust from scratch, but most of the time in the later years she'd do the "cheat" method with canned biscuits. She'd make some for him, and then she'd make a bunch of others that he could take around and drop off for folks. When he passed away, she just couldn't bring herself to make them anymore, so we've been without them for almost 10 years now. She joined him this February. Truly appreciate this little stroll down memory lane.
I love your video ! I came here find out how to make chocolate fried pie. I have made peach, pineapple, apple, and cherry...now to make chocolate. Can these be frozen? Do you freeze them before frying, or after you fry them?

can probably use the base of theblue plate cut circles out
Yes that's how my grandmother did it. They called the smaller plates a saucer.
These look delicious!
Did you make your blueberry pie filling? Looks so good. I have made apple for years like my grandmother did.
I used bought blueberry pie filling. Sometimes I put my homemade blueberry preserves in them.
Mom used to make these because Dad loved them. Sometimes she'd do the crust from scratch, but most of the time in the later years she'd do the "cheat" method with canned biscuits. She'd make some for him, and then she'd make a bunch of others that he could take around and drop off for folks. What a precious story. Thanks for sharing. Funny how a special food will bring out special memories.

@@franklandry5864 Don't know what "F" means. Is that my grade?
The bottom cuts the right size circle. You don’t have to guess.
@@marthab255 Honey I'm crazy! I was so proud to get a crimper, I thought it was all it would do! Lol!
I've started making a puff pastry for my crust. It makes a nice one but sometimes I still make up a biscuit crust.
Both ways are so good!
They look delicious but do they get soggy after sitting a while
@@sundieburt4567 No I haven't had them go soggy, but maybe they are eaten too fast!
can I use a food processor to make the dough?? Im new to your channel,
Yes you could. I haven't.
I love your video ! I came here find out how to make chocolate fried pie. I have made peach, pineapple, apple, and cherry...now to make chocolate. Can these be frozen? Do you freeze them before frying, or after you fry them?
I freeze after frying. But usually we don't have enough left to freeze. If you try freezing before frying, let me know how it went!
Thanks for a different dough recipe. First time watching
Is that the kind of rolling pin that you can put ice water in?
You can. It's a 70's Tupperware.
What cha think of some peanut butter in with that chocolate pie m-m-m!
Awesome idea!!!
