Really miss Jim Varney. He was so talented to be able to entertain adults and kids simultaneously. He also did very well in the Beverly Hillbillies. That was the first film I’d seen him out of the Earnest character. I was impressed
Back in the mid 80's in Seattle there was a commercial where he did the same thing only Vern was working under the hood of his car and he stuck his finger in and touched an electrical wire. It was one of the funniest commercials ever.
Because of Ernest, me and my mom have been saying “know what I mean Vern” Me and my brother loved these movies and they made us laugh so hard😂 he is such a character and it makes me want to cry knowing Jim passed away before I was even born.
I always got a kick out of his "loose wiiiiiiiiiiiire" skit because I worked in an electronics shop at the time these were on, and it happened to me many times .
My name is Verne. I have a mullet (currently black and purple, although I change the color frequently), a rotating collection of comically large, funky Elton John glasses, and a lot of piercings. So there's your answer! Lol.
We got this one (with Family Album) back in the 80s when I was in Jr High. Phrases like, "Gun it, Edna" are still part of my family's Vern-acular (heehee) to this day.
I own two copies that I rented non-stop from the old video store in my town and finally owned once they shut down. I wish THESE commercials would be released on DVD. But with the Complete Ernest collection and the 3 first Ernest movies together in one DVD pack, it's a great time to reintroduce the world to a funny character and a great man. :)
Mill Creek Entertainment did release a DVD set that included "Ernest's Greatest Hits Volumes 1 and 2 which were released originally on VHS I think. Some of the ads were the same as seen here but some often were or different products/services with the same plot used.
These Ernest hey Vern commercials were big when they were being aired around 1984 the down side was it never showed who Vern was Rip Jim varney you were so funny and everyone I knew liked you
When I was little I used to watch his tv commercials for Tysons Toyota he’s my childhood friend and holiday spas the sign is my childhood friend and mister lock is my childhood friend too
@@WDBsirLocksight ya I have another example. the nanny from the original Muppet babies cartoon never showed her face only her legs and that drove me nuts too. This was the 90's for ya.
How did you get the picture of Ernest he looks like he’s laughing his teeth are beautiful and I love his laughing when he says I like the little bear and he laughing when Vern gets a job at McDonald’s and he says I like your little hat rest in heaven with your mommy and daddy
Lovely, he was very popular in Lousiana - still he advertised for the scum of the earth, banks and so on. He was as phony as his too clean cut off jacket,
This man was the apex of clean comedy. We miss you Jim.
Watching all of this makes me want to go back to this time, great times to be a teenager
“KnowhutImean, Vern?” - Ernest P. Worrell (Jim Varney, 1949-2000)
He really was talented and so damn funny!
Love this 100%. Jim Varney, 1949-2000. He was so funny and great.

Jim Varney did "Vern and Ernest" commercials for KPHO TV5 in Phoenix back in the 1980s- absolutely hilarious spots!
Really miss Jim Varney. He was so talented to be able to entertain adults and kids simultaneously. He also did very well in the Beverly Hillbillies. That was the first film I’d seen him out of the Earnest character. I was impressed
The TV repair/electrocution scene is my favorite ever. :)

That TV dinner Vern is eating at the beginning looks like Swanson's Hungry Man Turkey.
I loved watching him as a kid I don't know what it was maybe it was funny to me but I sure did enjoyed his shows, wow flashback.
As a Verne, I'm never prouder of my name than when I watch these commercials! 😂

I was born after his death
I remember Ernest when the commercials were on TV. I was born in '81, waaaay before he died. My dad and I say "Know what I mean, Vern?" all the time.
Jim as Ernest America's most endeared family friendly comedian rip Jim we love you know what I mean
Jim Varney was a lot more built than I remembered
Juiced to the gills.

My childhood friend was named Vern. He said these commercials used to trip him out and he thought the commercials were specifically made for him
Haha, that's hilarious! My name is also Verne, and if I'd seen these commercials as a kid, I probably would've felt the same way. 😂

3:20 Agreed.
4:30 I think that's the 1st time I've ever heard Vern (meaning YOU the viewer) break silence...
The Purity logo in Tennessee looks just like the Cass Clay logo in North Dakota.

Oh good, here they are. It's always missing when I want to watch the whole KnoWhutImean?
Does anyone think it’s too late to join the fan club?
I'm tempted to send $7 to that address just to see what happens. Even if its inactive now and something else is there.

The crossover I wasn't expecting but love.

Elements of his work make me pine for the idea of him being #JCVD 's guru
I always wanted to see Vern's face on camera when I was a kid It drove me nuts lol.

Vern was probably the sane one. I could always imagine his eyes rolling as Ernest babbled on.
Ernest is the funny neighbor that is annoying to Vern when Ernest is trying to show him what he found. RIP Jim Varney (Ernest P. Worrel) 1949-2000
Still love how the dudes shilling stuff to us as Vern and its just like...dude f off idc.
