    Here in the UK the car is categorized too what extent the damage was when the insurance company totalled it.The most severe makes it impossible to insure after a rebuild unless the vehicle is checked by a bonafide independant engineer at each stage of the rebuild work.
    So the majority of severely damaged vehicles in the UK never get back on the road and are usually bought by salvage yards as parts cars.
    This legistlation was introduced in the 1980s to clamp down on cut and stick whereas a wrecked front end was cut from one car and a good front end cut from a another model and welded together making up a supposedly good car,Some examples litterally split in two when they collided with other vehicles resulting in fatalaties.

    I got scammed twice in 2018 when I bought two used cars from “reputable” dealers. Each of them had 100% clean carfax reports, but I later found out that both of them had unreported accidents which damaged the body (no frame damage). That’s the last time I trusted any dealer or the carfax system.

    Pre-collision warning is due to the front radar behind the emblem being misaligned, rather than the park sensors, which are part of the ICS/Park Assist system. Also lots of concern for the blind spot monitor on the rear left, as I doubt it was replaced, and I doubt that inner quarter was repaired correctly either. With 3.6 degrees of variance on the horizontal axis, you really need to have millimeter accuracy in that repair just for the calibration to go through. This vehicle was totalled for a reason.

  • @Droopy578
    @Droopy578 11 місяців тому +6

    Hood and fender gap give the impression it’s an aftermarket hood and or hinges need to be changed. The lower part of the front grill does not line up right so most likely A/M too. Pre collision warning is the front radar that is damaged or missing and that alone is at least $1500 plus calibration. I was an estimator for a long time at a major franchise. Geico, the cheapest insurance out there made us use a/m part in a Lexus RC a few times and the grill would never clip into the bumper, so we always had to go OEM. Funny thing is the bumpers in new cars are not one piece anymore. It’s 8-10 pieces that all click in together.

    Wow! Thank you for this video! I'm not a car mechanic, so the first few pictures of that Lexus really fooled me! I didn't think it would be that bad until I heard your commentary!
    This video reminds me of a story that a family friend of mine went through a year ago. He bought a used 2017 Subaru Outback (odometer said 90k miles on it) from a used car dealership. He thought he got a solid deal (cost was $23k) and everything looked okay; until after 500 miles of driving the used car, the entire tail pipe fell off and the suspensions failed! He took it back to the dealership, but they said they couldn't do anything to help him. So, he took his car to a mechanic shop and the mechanic told him the REAL reason why the tail pipe fell off and the suspensions failed! Based of the wear and tear, the car actually had 200k miles on it (doctored car) and the previous owner neglected regular maintenance!
    In the end, that family friend of mine had to spend $20k getting the used car fixed up, which begs the question, "How did you spend $43k on a used car? He could've bought himself a new car!"

    • @theclearsounds3911
      @theclearsounds3911 11 місяців тому +3

      Not worth it. NEVER put ANY money into a car with 200k miles, unless there's something very special about it, like it's unusually valuable. You can EASILY find a good car with 60k miles or less for $20k. Cut your losses at $23k. Even that's way too much to pay for a Subaru with 90K miles!!! The head gasket will blow any time. This is what's called throwing good money after bad, and getting ripped off TWICE!

    With it possibly shoved into a pole unoccupied I'd be surprised if the transaxle also didn't have any damage. The park mechanism is designed to prevent the vehicle from rolling from a standstill slowly and not a violent shove. I'd bet that it was never put on a lift and the pan dropped. When those parts break small metal bits can go into areas of any transmission or transaxle and destroy them. That in itself is yet another reason for a solid pass.

    • @operator8014
      @operator8014 11 місяців тому +1

      I don't buy that. The rear damage is too small to have received a big enough impact to move the vehicle that far forward with that much speed.
      Looks like it hit a pole and then got smashed from behind.

    I love watching these scam videos... I too learned the hard way years ago when I purchased a Chrysler PT Cruiser from Copart - Never trust anyone... Thank You for Sharing this valuable information. I buy from CoPart alot and I have a general rule as I don't buy anything that I didn't go and see myself. Well I broke that rule today as I won a 2015 Kia Soul that the Kia Boyz got to... High Mileage 246K but I bought it for the BODY/FRAME as my 2014 Kia Soul Frame is just not repairable - well maybe you could but I don't have frame machine, so it's easier just to swap everything from the 2014 to the 2015. Once again, THANK YOU for bringing awareness to the SCAMMERS out there... I love cars but I know from experience pictures don't tell the whole truth, in-fact pictures can tell an entirely different narrative - like the current pictures of the Lexus RX350 vs when it was originally at copart.

Maybe it's "they them??" I do apologize...

    That rear wheel on driver side ( left side) looks to be pushed forward. It looks to be rubbing against the wheel well in the front. I think these scammers just straightened out what was there and possibly added a couple from another junk car to make it role.

    A couple of possibilities as to why these cars are cycled through:
    What better way to " wash " repair parts and not have to prove where they came from when doing a build? Another possibility is that the cars go overseas.

    I've lucked out on two vehicles with low miles from Government Auctions sure they each needed work but it was clearly stated what was wrong and that was all I actually fixed beyond owning them and doing normal PM's its definitely the only way I will go again. Don't expect a giant deal took months to find one and sometimes you have to back off because many folks pay way more than book and I have no idea why until I see them relisted over and over many times over it's all simple to watch and go inspect them before actually buying an knowing when to walk away as prices go above values never trust photos. Until you crawl under expect that frame is gone! Don't think they don't show the rockers because they still exist!

    I would have stopped the second I saw the mileage had not increased by a single mile since the last auction. To have done that significant repair and not even rolled it more than a mile to check your work means it probably doesn't drive- there likely isn't even a CV axle attached to that rear tire and it is not driveable.

    The craziest part to me is that people will buy a vehicle like this all online. I would never dream of purchasing any vehicle unless I had extensively inspected it IN PERSON and also had my mechanic thoroughly inspect it. Easiest way by far to avoid getting scammed.

    🙋‍♂️I got a question? Aren't salvage title cars being sold supposed to have documented parts list attached? Its a requirement in certain states?

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  11 місяців тому +2

      Only for it to pass a salvage inspection. So now the buyer can take these pics to the inspection and doesn’t need the receipts for the parts. It basically renders the inspection useless, unless they find stolen parts on it and then the owner has a headache on their hands.

    How do they keep getting away with this? Is there some wording in the description, maybe like, "May be more damage that we are not aware of" that they fall back on if the buyer goes back and complains about all the damage under the replaced covers? I cant believe they keep getting away with it.
