I think that is the biggest waste of money anyone could buy is a Lexus SUV. For many years other car manufacturers came out with Apple car play and Android Auto, but I until recently Toyota barely came out with it. Then most of their Lexus suvs are front wheel drive with very little power but a turbo. Look at a Lincoln Navigator...it can tow more than 8,000 pounds, has AWD and seat 7 people as it is the most luxurious SUV Ford has ever made to date. Then the Cadillac XT5 that has 310HP standard, built in WiFi, Onstar, AWD, and much more. I don't like Asian luxury suvs because they don't serve no purpose and can do very little. American suvs are packed with a lot of real things like the Navigator that can tow a boat plus more when going on a trip to a lake. My neighbor has a Lexus SUV and I have a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT. I know there is not much to compare, but mine cost $34,000 and it has AWD with 4 different driving modes, 3 rows of seats, and can really handle going off road and have more functional use. At the end a vehicle no matter what the price tag is, is purely a transportation vehicle..like when people bought horses back then...that's it's only purpose and to spend money on a SUV such as this one that can't tow much, can't go off road, mostly in front wheel drive...is a big waste of money
@@lucky1206 first of all most of the Lexus comes with awd when you buy from dealer and Lexus has the reliability record and know as most comfortable seats and luxury design. I have own bmw, mercedes and now lexus. Germans are definitely better at dynamic driving and handling but Lexus is better at reliability, comfort and design. Cadillac is nice but for old people lol. can be comfortable but there are other things to consider like reliability, mpg and design. You can't really compare oranges and apples but Lexus has most selling suv record and award winning safety and reliability record for past 7 years :)
Agreed! I also have a 2017 RX. I have owned both Mercedes and Cadillacs in the past, and while they are great cars, This is the best car I have ever driven! I actually look forward to my 30 minute drive to and from work every day.
Norm T mate, newer Buick brand is a pakuri (copy) of Lexus. Buick even admitted they aspire to be Lexus....if you work in engineering, you will know that Toyota techniques like qfd, kan ban and kaizen are used by American and European companies. I realized how crappy American cars are after I drove a 2016 rental Malibu while my Camry was given for a fix from a hit and run ... the Camry felt like a luxury car compared to the Chevy. Lexus IS in a league of its own...not even other Japanese luxury come close (Acura, infiniti)
@@blingblingsam1490 I bought an 11 AWD GS with 90K miles. 30K miles later it had ZERO issues. Just gas and oil, gets 22.5-23 MPG. Got snowtires with it (it has AWD) because I drive in mountains. My neighbor bought a new BWM at the same time and had a bunch of loaners.
There are several metrics by which Lexus and Toyota are measured most reliable. JD Power most dependable 7 years in a row is one example. Do you have *any* sources that put Buick at the top of the list?
I have owned over 50 cars, ranging from sport cars, trucks to suv's. My 2018 Lexus RX350 is the best I have ever owned. Reliable, quiet, fast and looks awesome. Taking my daughter to look at the ES 350, we are sold on Lexus.
My first car was an 07 rx350 with 116k miles on it. I put another 14k miles on it and the only problem I had was the rear hatch motor didn't always work. Absolutely loved the car, drove like a dream and you can't beat Lexus quality
I've got a 2016 RX 450h. Best road trip car ever. The safety technology makes it super easy to drive and it was so smooth. After we got it, we took a 16 hour road trip... in one day. We've done the same trip in our 1999 Land Cruiser, and the RX was just as comfortable, easier to drive and returned 26 mpg (in freezing temperatures). Usually, I average 30 mpg highway and if I drive like a grandma, I get about 36 mpg in the city. Amazing vehicle which I hope will serve me years of service!
@@normt5463 I strongly disagree. The RX 450h weighs 700 lbs more and is about 9 inches longer in length than your Envision. I'll admit, the RX is not the best on the highway. It has too high of a Coefficient of Drag. I would not call the Buick terrible, but I would call it competitive in its segment which includes the Acura RDX, Lexus NX, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC, etc. The RX is one segment above.
@@normt5463 Hahaha , you cannot compare a junk Buick to a Lexus. GM piece of crap! The Buick will start breaking down in 3 years and things will start falling off.
Lexus IS the WORST brand on this planet. Because once you buy one of those, there is no way switching to another brand. Loosing the fun of trying different cars, but at the end of the day, sitting in a Lexus is pure joy and comfort.
@@cywoods60 my wife has an lx570 100k, I have a 1st generation sequoia 250k. I have owned 16 different types of cars and the toyotas have always been extremely reliable and low maintenance.

I’m very impressed with Toyota reliability! My wife 2005 rx300 got 180k miles no problem except rear hatch replacement. She still driving the same Lexus. I bought 2011 Porsche CayenneS brand new for my wife as a weekend suv. Hardly drive the cayenne, now it has 16k miles. Last week I took her out for a ride. Check engine light came on, it said, reduce engine speed. Took the cayenne in for inspection. Need to replace high pressure fuel pump, then still got a check engine light 💡 Replace oxygen sensor, now it is okay. Cost $3,700 dollars. I would of be okay if the cayenne has 80-100k miles on it. Anyway, I have a Prius V as my daily workhorse for my restaurants. 2013 Prius V has 110k miles, no problem at all. Only tire change and regular maintenance. My staffs drove the Prius whenever they need to haul some grocery for the restaurants. Heavy load once a week.(800-1000 lbs loads). I love the way german cars drive. Own a few Porsche and Mercedes, BMW sport cars and one street able race car. But the reliability never come close to toyota products. A/C blow cold air on a hot summer day in Southern California. Cayenne S a/c can’t come close to the Toyota. Tired of the German car unreliability. Can’t beat the reliability of a Toyota. 🦅🦅🇺🇸
Great review! You hit the nail on the head for the solid feel. And it adds up for the luxury into it. I have been to auto shows every year. The Lexus RX and NX is one of the most impressive vehicles in the market. And one great thing about this too is it uses Regular gas!
I have a 04 rx330..currently at 140k miles on it. No major problems. Just fluid changes every so often and oil. Got timing belt replaced at 80k miles. Probably could have waited a little longer the belt showed no wear or tear. Still drives like a champ.
I drove a Honda Acccord for 12 years. I finally had to get a bigger car for me and my son. Got the RX350. It’s the best ever and I feel like a QUEEN driving it!
My wife has RX 350 for 3 years no problem with 23 miles per gallon. I love the no problem to get a loaners Suv at oil changes, free car washes 6 days a week. Number one best thing is the wood steering wheel ( it never hot or cold and great to the touch)
0 problems after 90k miles. Hmm...yeah, not surprised. 42k miles on my 2015 RX350....and it has been flawless as well. No doubt will be for years to come too.
My mom bought a brand new RX350 Luxury package in black with parchment interior a couple months ago, and we LOVE it! The wheels on the Luxury package look even better.
I own a 2017 RX now. I had a Acura integra back 1999. Bought it brand new. Took care of it. Drive for 6 years. Never spent a penny repairing. 125 km. Just changed oil myself. Not even replace brake pads
Norm T sure luxury cars lose more than average cars it will always be that way, but every little bit helps. Just out of curiosity which manufacturer does the dealer you work for sell?
@@bowtieguy6870 At the kind of losses we are talking about for all of them it doesn't really matter. They are all going to drop 40-50% in the first 3 years which is a big chunk of change.

Well it was on my bucket list to get and 2 months ago I was able to cross it off. I love my RX 350. The ride is amazing, so comfortable and has a sleek design. The only draw back for me is the gas mileage. I was so use to getting 400+ miles with my Altima to 300+ with the Lexus😔 I'm happy with my purchase.

@@larkthomas3371 another Toyota product, so not surprising that it has lasted. I have a coworker with one of the first Lexus RX. It's a bit run down now, but he still drives it 50 miles(one way) to work everyday.
My 92 LS400 was shipped to Germany with my PCS move; there was no Lexus dealership there at that time so it was serviced exclusively at a Toyota dealership. Luckily, all that needed was oil changes. 120mph everyday to work.
I have a 2016 450h. The manual says to use premium. The totaled 2006 400h did not say to use premium. So why the distinction, I don't get the logic. Unleaded for the 350. People at the dealership said it had something to do with the fleet EPA standards. They both have Atkinson V6s, but the hybrid has some add ons to the engine.
I have owned two RX 350 -AWD (2008 & 2017). At 100,000 my '08 had a transfer case ($1200) go out. The 2017 had a rock (at 5,000 miles) hit the air compressor and the AC went out. Lexus ended up paying for the repair. Solid cars overall with some issues. Great service at Lexus dealer. They have barista, free water, several TV's, leather sofa etc. Free loaner cars are common.
RX simply is the best midsize luxury class SUV which Lexus started the trend 20 years ago as the luxury midsize crossover. Moreover, the RX is a Lexus which means reputation for quality, reliability, lower cost of maintenance and long term satisfaction. Lexus has it all and Lexus wins.
eugene Nobody claimed that Lexus is not prone to any mishaps, I'm pretty sure Lexus addresses any concerns and will handle it with professionalism. I believe the timing cover is caused oil leak dripping from a robot on to the gasket at the time of assembly and Lexus has corrected the error.
loud Ring they had a leaky timing cover problem since 2006. My 2013 rav4 w/ 23k miles needed a torque convert replaced. Nothing but problems with Toyota nowadays.
eugene If I were you, I would start buying Mercedes, Chrysler and Fiat, I believe those other car makers may better suit you with no problems whatsoever (cough bullish**t cough cough)
eugene Not trying to be rude but dude really a need of a new torque converter at that low mileage from a Toyota is unheard of. Matter of fact Toyota's Automatic transmission is amongst the bests if not the best!
I only ended up with a Lexus RX when I was searching for a Toyota or Honda to replace a wrecked vehicle, and the only mid sized SUV I could find in my price range was the Lexus. I had never thought a Lexus would be in my price range but an insurance settlement after a wreck resulted in my affording a better car than the one I had wrecked! The only problem I now have is a leak somewhere, possibly the sunroof drain. Mine is an 07 and I have a coworker with a 90something (I guess one of the first ones). I hope mine lasts like his, so I can save for the replacement. It would be very difficult to downgrade. I don't however like the newer style bodies.
Lexus is a dream brand to own for a very long time because Lexus can only become better with time. Low cost of maintenance, reliability, longevity, spare parts logistics, dealers network and high resale value put smiles on Lexus owners’ faces.
You pretty much captured everything. We have a 450Hybrid F-sport. we are only getting 24 to 25 mpg combined. We have the heads up display, the Mark Levinson sound system and the panarama roof and the LED lights all the way around. Quiet and reliable. Time is money and I don't want to constantly visit the dealer for unscheduled events. But wish it had a larger battery pack and the electric neodymium motor out of a Tesla for at least a 200hp boost. 308 hp is just not enough.
We got one for my wife the 5-passenger model she loves it simple as that when we were shopping for car she said take me to the Lexus dealer oh that's not even bother going anywhere else
Great Video! I own a 2001 RX (that I bought used in 2006) with the late model year option Navigation and the only major issue that I've had is the air-fuel mix sensors. 200K miles, btw. 😉
I own a 2000 RX (that I bought used in 2004 w 23k miles) and changed the serpentine belt and rebuilt the transmission by my buddy and occasionally bet bad air-fuel sensor light warning. 200K miles. It's been a great car overall !!
It has the same problem on my 2000 RX300. After changed the A/F sensor, everything is fine. In this week, I have fix the problem myself on a jammed heater mixed servo ( common problem on Lexus ).
I own a 2013 RX with 108000 miles on it, oil change every 5000 miles, transmission fluid change at 65000 miles, not one issue with this vehicle, excellent reliability.
I heard some people saying Lexus NX is same as Toyota rav4 but since I own both of them can say Lexus is 90% different than Toyota and love the luxury, comfort and technology of Lexus.
It is not 90% different. Maybe of what you see like interior, but the mechanicals are the same. They ride and handle the same and have the same horrible powertrain (300h)
Antonio Akiki Lexus officially said that 90% different Toyota. They share same hybrid system but Lexus nx 2.0 turbo charged and rav4 has 2.5 liter naturally aspirated system and awd in Lexus better. I own both vehicle so I’m saying driving handling and luxury definitely different than Toyota
well in sweden both have the same hybrid powertrain. The nx is probably tuned softer as the one I driven (2016 nx300h) has the worst suspension I have ever tried. Rides harshly but still has alot of body roll and get easily unsettled. Have you actually driven another luxury car? Lexus selling point is reliability, the same as toyota. Not luxury because there are more luxurious options in the price class
Antonio Akiki hybrid ones shares same engine and power train and most hybrid cars comes with cvt transmission and Lexus know as luxury vehicles that competes with Mercedes. Also I owned Mercedes c63 before so know luxury cars well and think Lexus leather seats are more comfortable than mercedes but handling and driving dynamics Mercedes better. You should try rolls Royce :)
I love Lexus service and reliability. I’ve owned a 2005 ES300 and currently own a 2012 RX350. I bought the RX350 used because of the more comfortable seats. With a spinal condition, the newer sports seats have wreaked havoc on my back. Those bolsters are a killer. It took me two years of testing every vehicle out there only to return to Lexus for a used SUV. Not sure where my next Lexus will come from unless they roll back the seat design (unlikely) and soften the unsightly grill (unlikely)!
I own a 2017 RX350 and am very pleased with the mechanical operations of the car. The ride is as the video says, quiet ans smooth, no complaints. However, on the electronics side of the equation the car fails miserably. The Lane Keeping feature with steering assist simply does not work. If you leave the steering to that feature is wanders from lane edge to lane edge in ever more abrupt angles until you have to take control. I'd much prefer a Lane Centering feature like on the Nissan cars. Worst of all is the navigation feature. To control the map using the joy-stick is an adventure all in itself. It's like using a computer mouse that is hyper fast. No fun at all. Also, the navigation map is pitiful. I simply can't reconcile a luxury car company putting such a terrible map in their product. If you use the mapping as a guide to upcoming road conditions (turns and such) you will be disappointed. The map has a white background and the road is also the same white. Why??? The road is indicated by broken black lines that quickly fade to nothing a quarter mile in front of you. Try putting a destination address in the map. First you have to put in the City. Then the street number and name all using the hyper fast mouse controller and a keyboard displayed on the screen. No fun. Contrast that with Google Maps where you put in the street number and name and it gives you possible cities. Much more user friendly. Finally, the back up camera works great during the day, but at night when you need all the illumination possible to see obstruction, the screen dims automatically so that obstructions are nearly impossible to see. No way that I could find to eliminate that dimming. Summary, great car with primitive electronics. I also own an Avalon but I will never buy another Lexus or Toyota without Android Auto, which so far they refuse to provide. Why? Anyone's guess, but probably cost. Maybe $5 or $10 per car, who knows?
I have put a lot of miles on a friend's RX350 and like it, but I think the Highlander is a better buy as it is $10,000 cheaper and mechanically the same. The "luxury" leaves me cold, though I have to admit I like the sound system.
Just traded in my 2002 Lexus RX for a 2016 Lexus RX. Never had any issues or problems with the 2002 just wanted a newer model with more modern bells and whistles. They are very reliable cars and being a woman I can’t risk being broken down in LA traffic thus why I chose a Lexus. I know a lot of people are turned off by the front grill but I like it. I’ve always like standing out in a crowd and that grill defiantly does the trick. ☺️ If you want boring, unreliable and something that doesn’t have a good resale value then buy something other then a Lexus. But for me I will always be a life long owner of Lexus’s. 🥰
I currently own a 2017 Cadillac XT5, with 15K on the odometer. I liked it when I got the vehicle but electrical and mechanical problems (a distinct clunking sound..from the torque converted to the transmission??) have eroded my feelings for wanting to keep it past the warranty period. That being said, I am now trying real hard to get over my distaste for the grill treatment on the Lexus. Lexus is at the top of a consumers ratings list; Cadillac being near the bottom. Doesn't take too much figurin' to conclude which vehicle to buy as a replacement for the XT5 (which I still like, but just cannot depend on it).
Love this car, but they should maybe add more power for example a twin turbo or just a turbo. And like dual exhausts because the front of this car looks very aggressive and sporty. Just a thought.
My sister owns a 2003 RX350. It has over 216,000 miles and the ride is still smooth. I love driving her car. I test drove one over the Thanksgiving holiday but the only reason I didn't purchase it was because of the Headrest. It was quite uncomfortable for me do to a neck injury. If I could change the Headrest, I'd buy the car in a heartbeat!
Need help. I’m car hunting and I’m looking into 3 cars the Volvo XC90, Subaru acent, and the Lexus RX 350L. I’m also looking for a reliable car. What do you think? Thanks in advance.
It's the best selling luxury vehicle in the US not just the best selling Lexus. Thought the Rx starts around 45-46k, any way i may be wrong. The price in my opinion isn't one of reasons it sells more than the Germans, any one who can afford 44k can afford 49 or 50k that's just fact. It has a lot more to do with build quality and reliability nothing more nothing less. The Germans all have faster performing cars even at base level yet far more people would rather the RX. The Germans are supreme in Europe though without a doubt, but the RX is gaining ground slowly there.
Just picked up my 9th Lexus , this my 2nd RX. I still have a 2004 ES with 200K mileage. Got my RX this week in Atomic color which I like. Understand the GS will no longer be made ? I had 2 of them, they were great cars . Sporty sedan with power. Lexus tried but could never sell the GS. Lexus makes great vehicles. Service Centers generally good service but expensive. My local mechanic is as good but much cheaper.
@@geekteach1912 The NX is not a "lesser model." Different people have different needs which is why many car manufacturers offer SUVs in multiple sizes. Besidse, it isn't like the designers were like,"Hahaha! These stupid plebeians are going to know that they are in a worse car because they don't have these black lines on the back." Both cars are great and targeted at similar but different consumers. No need to insult a perfectly good car just because it looks better.
No doubt a nice RX.. Love, love, love the more traditional, simple, clear layout of the dashboard/instrument cluster (speedo and tacho), and the quietness, and the comfy ride.. But I am afraid that the low roof line would make this kind of cramped SUV to own.. I only wish Lexus would raise the roof about two inches.. For anyone over about 5' 9" - this would make the cabin much more comfortable, and make for much better visibility (for safety).. This might hurt gas mileage a tiny bit (and I mean TINY), but the improvement in comfort and visibility would far outweigh the slightly less MPG..

Toyota and Lexus have perfected quality and reliability so much that mass production of reliable quality vehicles has been taken for granted.
Norm T lexus was just ranked number one in reliability again for 2018
@@normt5463 Toyota makes Lexus . it is their luxury brand

Very reliable I had a 2005 Lexus RX 330 230,000+ miles. Literally drove it til the wheels fell off. Vehicled was totaled someone hit me. Upgraded to 2015 Lexus RX 330.
Need to replace high pressure fuel pump, then still got a check engine light 💡
Replace oxygen sensor, now it is okay.

Great review! You hit the nail on the head for the solid feel. And it adds up for the luxury into it. I have been to auto shows every year. The Lexus RX and NX is one of the most impressive vehicles in the market. And one great thing about this too is it uses Regular gas!

Lexus is awesome 👍
loud Ring my 2016 rx350 is in shop for a leaky timing cover. Lexus is going down hill.

eugene Not trying to be rude but dude really a need of a new torque converter at that low mileage from a Toyota is unheard of.

We have the heads up display, the Mark Levinson sound system and the panarama roof and the LED lights all the way around. Quiet and reliable. Time is money and I don't want to constantly visit the dealer for unscheduled events. Lexus all the way! Such beauty!
You should try rolls Royce :)
kerem would love a rolls but i cant afford that😂
I love Lexus service and reliability.
Awesome review, Mike! It makes me want an RX350.
My new car...same color and all but with tan and brown interior 😍
Own a 12 year old IS 250 AWD. Has never skipped a beat!
Yes, i love this car too.
I bought rx330 in 2004 and 430000 km on it and still driving since 2004 and now this week bought rx350.
I see about a 200 Lexus RX everyday, I saw one Lincoln MKZ once last week.
The Costco in Aventura, FL looks like a Lexus dealership every weekend! I’ve counted 7 RX’s in a row along with every other model.
If you want boring, unreliable and something that doesn’t have a good resale value then buy something other then a Lexus.
I have a Cadillac that has cost me money from mechanical problems and I'm buying a Lexus for my next vehicle to replace the Cadillac.
Love this car, but they should maybe add more power for example a twin turbo or just a turbo. And like dual exhausts because the front of this car looks very aggressive and sporty. Just a thought.
I Agree....I own 2017 RX350....it’s GREAT!

Because is a beautiful car.

I don't like the black lines that connect the rearwindows to the back of the car. I like the uniform design on the NX.
Gabe: Me too! I own a NX, in my opinion the NX looks much better.
You're in the minority on that point. We LOVE the black panels. Lexus made the lesser NX model for people like you.
Geekteach : Did you pole everyone about your minority comment? I don’t like the black line either.
I'm 6' 3" and have no problems with headroom in our 2016 RX
@@billbranzell2610 Thanks Bill, even though you have no prob w/ headroom. I still think the RX would be better with a raised roof (just a bit). It would improve visibility and comfort even more. Still a nice SUV..
I love, love my older 2000 Lexus RW300. I saved and saved until i could pay for it10 years ago. I n 10 years, I have replaced the brakes. wipers, had the transmission flushed because of the problem with the fluid getting weird . . so over 10 years not counting brakes, wipers, light blubs and the stupid elec radio antenna, the total cost was $700 for 10 years . . and there isn't one bit of rust. I used to own Dodge caravans that rusted out completely is 3 to 4 years.

Howdy, Do you have a review for 2019 RX 350L. What is the difference between RX 350 vs RX 350L or just seats. How much does it cost? I'm interested. I'm torn between Highlander and Lexus, please advise.
