Man I remember going into this movie with zero expectations and still felt underwhelmed

•a big budget
•DINOSAURS!!!
You can still accomplish to make a movie boring and forgettable.
And the main thing this movie forgot was that the star of the movie should have been the DINOSAURS. Instead, they made the dinosaurs almost seem like background characters.

I didn’t have high hopes for the movie but man I was not expecting it to be so incredibly boring
But this movie was great, probably the second best in the series. Fallen Kingdom was the boring and forgettable one.

I would like to sin the fact that they made a point in the last movie that Masie didn’t have an English accent, and yet in this movie after living with two people for four years with *American* accents, she has a very strong *English* accent.

hold the phone, you can suspend your disbelief for dinosaurs being resurected from dna that survived 66 million years of fossilization and degration but you can't suspend your disbelief for an adopted Birtish girl raised by American parents retaining her accent? if your suspension of disbelief stops there than I don't know what to say.

Surprised Jeremy didn't sin the fact that Blue somehow tracked down Owen, Claire, and Maisie after the last movie, then made a nest, laid, and hatched Beta in what’s essentially their backyard without any of them noticing. Blue’s basically been their secret neighbor for at least several months!

Actually, in the Maisie Lockwood books, they explain that Owen and Claire took Blue to the forest close to their cabin to keep an eye on her.

should’ve added a bonus sin round and added 1,000 sins for every person that did the hand gesture thing to ward off dinosaurs.
And add another 1000 sins for those idiots who didn't immediately get their hands bitten off for trying it.
I think it's kind of a running gag that that works so well. I'd love it to NOT work one of these times but the heros get deux-ex'd in some other way just to show that not all animals in all situations respect a calm gesture.

Agreed, it would make a lot more sense if they ended up getting killed or just getting their hands chewed off.
Wich in fact works as its considerd thretening to animals, and as dinosaurs are animals it works to a degree as well. Shure Alo and Carno where like "the fuck do you dwarf want?" but even they where startled from that enogh for owen to evade as they did not know what it was. For all they care it could be an attack or threat and predators are ALWAY'S cautious about that.
You forgot to sin the concept that a small group of dinos that escaped in "Fallen Kingdom" somehow managed to populate the entire world. Also, a Pteranodon's claws and beak could not rip through a plane's strong metal body without taking serious damage in the process.
I think that was a Quetzalcoatlus which while big probably had a similiar problem with 'munching on metal.
Pitch Meetings pokes fun at the whole 'now the world is populated by dinosaurs after a few dozen (many not in mating pairs or solo?? I gues life finds a way' end up making themselves around the globe.
I figured it would be a few years tops before they were all rounded up in San Diego where realesed.
I know Dominion was in the works way back in ~2007 and the plot, trailer snippets, and promo-art heavily featured 'this time dinosaur escape ahh'. Kind of disappointing after 14 years of following rumors, multiple cancellations and re-writes they went with the 'uh they're just out there now i guess no big deal' plotline.
Somehow a 'small group of' imported rabbits, foxes, camels and etc managed to populate the entirety of Australia after the original migrants brought them here so they could go hunting (they are not native to this country).
@@rickstaism The point they're making is that, in the previous movie the dinosaurs were transferred from their remote islands of the coast of Puerto Rico, to the South American mainland due to volcanic eruption. Apart from the flying dinos, to which the answer is obvious, how did they manage to populate the rest of the world? Even if you take black market smugglers into account for individuals popping up here & there, there weren't enough dinosaurs to start with, to create a global population.
It's not just the few animals that escaped in California in Fallen Kingdom. The whole point of the dinosaur auction in that movie was to show that nefarious people were acquiring DNA and/or living dinosaurs of their own and going back to their own parts of the world to make dinosaurs. The dinosaur-making technology spread around the globe, not the dinosaurs themselves
Edit: I'm not defending the movie, I'm a huge Jurassic fan but this was a calamity of a movie. Just saying the original point isn't _really_ the case.

I was just observing that it doesn't take much of a population - given time - to spread to invasion levels at some point. Heck humans supposedly did it from two individuals... if you believe in Creationism.
My biggest ick with this movie is so hard to describe it’s just so Hollywood. It doesn’t feel like a film it just feels like a sequel it’s hard to explain. The characters are invincible and things happen just for the sake of them happening

@@hotkeyafl Only extras die in movies these days. Even if a main character dies they usually find some way of bringing them back or saying that no they didn't really die in the first place because it was off screen.

I'm surprised you didn't have any sin during the scene where Owen eject Clair out of the plane to save her from the plane being attacked by flying dinosaur (which put her in more danger), and by doing so made Clair fall in to the forest full with dinosaurs (which put her in even more danger).
I know right? And don't forget them surviving the plane crash with the brilliant plan of "Whatever happens. That's the plan." There is no end to the levels of dead that they should all be!
Honestly he probably could have sinned most of the movie. This is one of the times he's spoiled for choice in regards to sins.
And the fact that the only ejecting seat was the back passenger.. This movie defied logic so many times for the sake of the weak plot...
@@jamesDJRPM Definitely took the Tom-and-Jerry choice when it came to logic and physics. I thought it was pretty fun when I could ignore it but if you were looking forward to suspense and action then yes you'd be sorely disappointed by how many 'they survive this' moments there are. I love cheesy sci-fy B movies so was able to rub my forehead through the headaches.
@@DoABarrelRol1l A couple of unexpected deaths and real stakes where you’re on the edge of your seat wondering if they’ll survive would have made it just a bit more watchable for me.. But nothing was a threat.. The only scenes I liked, was Claire with the Theri, territorial herbivores are scary.. And, Rexy retreating to the Giga, because self preservation is a real instinct, not dino battles for the sake of it..

Remember that scene in lost world with 3-4 people trying to stop the parasaur? It lifted at least a couple of them into the air.
@@KingofKran IKR!? That was way more realistic, and they had to struggle to knock down the animal in order to subdue it. But here? Nah, Owen alone can tie one up and calm it down in seconds with his bare hands. Anyone who has captured feral horses will tell you that it does NOT work that way.
I just love that the plan was to have three men on horseback wrangle a group of like ten elephant-sized dinosaurs, and once one of them were - inexplicably - caught, they were like "Yep, we're done here for today, boys. Good job."
Or when he starts wrapping the rope around the horn of the saddle. The Parrosaurus would have outweighed the horse by around 5000 pounds. No way the horse could handle that yet alone the strength of the saddle.

I love the part where they solve the ending of Fallen Kingdom by not solving the ending of Fallen Kingdom. Truly one of the movies of all time

@@DoABarrelRol1l genuinely! it’s the weakest out of the worlds plus they retconned a bunch of the clone storyline anyway. individual pieces (parts of the house, the final shots of the island) had value, but together it was just a terrible watch and a real underdelivery of what could’ve been fantastic. at least dominion never tried to be much more than a nostalgic tying of the generations + as much as i love the dinosaurs it was nice to see a different approach to crichton’s writings since the dinos were originally supposed to be a messenger and not the message itself

To be fair, the car leaving a tunnel and finding a dinossaur at the other end is the driver's fault. That happens in real life y'know. Even without dinossaurs. People leave tunnels and find there's a curve with a cliff right after the tunnel and they fall in it because they're supposed to drive slower at the end of tunnels but they're dumb.

I love how they hyped up this franchise building up to dinosaurs being released in the public. And they have some cool ass dinosaurs to work with, too! Baryonx, Carnotaurus, Allosaurus, the T. rex, all the flying reptiles, and even the mosasaurus! And they showed us like none of that. The cut prologue was literally the best part of the movie.
Almost thirty years later and they still haven't recaptured the magic the first one had.
It's pretty much been a successive downward slide in quality drop over the past 30 years. It gets a little sticky over which is worse between JP3 and JW for me. But otherwise it's all pretty much in order of release.
Because that's impossible to do
It will never happen again, I'd rather they adapt Carnosaur another dino film than get another sorry excuse for a Jurassic film lol.
The franchise went from thought-provoking science fiction genius with a fair share of action, tension, and awe, to generic, bland flashy action movies with too many lifeless CGI dinosaurs…

Rarely has a movie insulted my intelligence with so much persistence.
It's really fighting against those roots that it was once both popcorn and insightful, a rare combination to do right on the blockbuster spectrum, and it just comes off as stupider than any previous feature because even this film doesn't know what it wants to say? What is it, science screwing with nature and backfiring? The complications of family? The animal trade market? A monster movie? A cast reunion stunt? It's so many things and it does NOTHING to a satisfying degree.

To be honest I doubt this is the last movie they’re ever going to make for the Jurassic franchise there’s no way that narrative team honestly looked at this whole plot involving locust and thought this is the Winning grand finale movie…..

14:37 In order to smell something, particles of that thing have to reach your nose. The water is preventing whatever is causing her to be smelly from wafting up. To smell her, whatever gunk is on her would have to be washed off AND it would have to float to the top of the water AND then volatile enough to escape surface tension and float up into the air.
At some point Jeremy is going to learn that water can in fact block/diminish odors, thermal signatures (Minority Report), and other things. But not today apparently.

This movie is all the reason needed when discussing why Michael Crichton stopped after the second book
... I mean dying didn't help... but maybe he was out of interesting science-fiction / philosophy topics to explore relating to dinosaurs. I don't think he did much if anything with JW3 either but maybe he could have thought up some bullet points for Spielberg.

@@DoABarrelRol1l He originally wasn't even going to write The Lost World, Jurassic Park was supposed to be one and done both book and film. But after seeing how massively successful the original JP was the studio execs paid Crichton to write a sequel book to loosely base another movie off of.
4:50. My parents have that exact jug of tea. And i can say that, without a doubt, it always spills half of its contents. So, as always, i give an extra sin to my parents for buying and keeping that crappy jug of water for more than 5 years.
My gran had the some style one from the 70's or 80's. She'd always complain about the thing too, but never got rid of it.
My family absolutely loves this series, we were very excited when we heard about this movie coming out. After we watched it, we got back in the car and tried to say what we liked about it. We were able to say about four things and then we were silent the rest of the ride home. It's really upsetting when you're a fan of this series, and you know what they can accomplish, but then they put something like this out. My family still hasn't admit it, but it was a huge letdown.

11:38 As a person that learnt how to fight with a knife here is a possible explanation: Stabbing would end the fight quickly, but also requires more strenght than slicing. If she would just nick her a few times in the right places, she could cause her to bleed out quickly without using too much force.
Stabbing also puts you at a bit more risk and gives less opportunity to defend yourself immediately after, while giving the opponent more opportunity to disarm you and potentially take the weapon

I don't think they thought that far. It was probabely more. Flail round so it goes on for a bit.
Flailing also causes the person being attacked to lose balance or retreat to an inferior position so it's easier to stab them later.
Not even the old cast of the classic Jurassic Park returning can save this movie at all.
Not just the old cast but even the child characters from previous films.
Because the script is terrible.

Because in all the past 5 movies dinosaurs have caused way to many deaths that there should definitely have been a cooperation with aim to kill them all of the planet.. making them extinct again.. (basically the whole point of These movies is bringing dinosaurs back from extinction!) And heroes would try to prevent that from happening :)

This franchise has given us 6ft tall Velociraptors, 5ft tall Dilophosaurs with frills and paralysing phlegm, a Giganotosaurus with a half length skull and Godzilla spikes along its spine, a Spinosaurus that beat a T-Rex 1v1 even after having its neck chomped down on (insta-death from the most powerful bite force ever), a Baryonyx that looks like an alligator on two legs (and no massive index finger claw), a Pyroraptor that swims, the Indominus Rex and the Indoraptor… and giant locusts that are genetically engineered to not eat certain crops!
You think they would ever acknowledge that a Dimetrodon isn’t officially classed as a dinosaur?
It would be pointless since the Dimetrodon looks like a crocodile with a T.rex head and a sail. More dinosaur than synapsid.
It's a shame, it would've been so cool if Dominion's Dimetrodon was more mammal-inspired as a nod to it being closer to mammals.

I really felt like the line "forget the damn hat" was a personal attack to all my favorite action movies with a male lead and their iconic signature cool hats
The guy only said "you better come see this" to Dr. Grant when Elle arrived at the dig site because he is a fan of Cinema Sins. It was right there, and you didn't even sin him for "you better come take a look at this cliche"
I find it more funny that it was made into a grand reveal like that when she was introduced a few moments earlier. This was the scene where Alan was introduced and got completely overshadowed by her being in her tent. Like, it was kinda backwards.
I grew up on the OG Jurassic Park movies.....I put this movie on and left the room almost immediately 😂
Wise decision! Watch the first 1-3 with the family if you do a marathon, when the rest get put on, use the rest of the time to get housework done while others are out of the way.
I'd say skip 3, 5.
Watch 2 & 6 only if you have extra popcorn left over and can't be bothered to get off the couch.

That is both accurate & good reason it deserves its place in the JP Trilogy.

People were looking for Maisie for 4 years and didn't find her somehow. That I get but exactly HOW did anyone from the mansion even know of Maisie's existence to begin with? By all accounts nobody except the good guys even survived the mansion massacre in the last movie, and yes BD Wong made it out unconscious and knew Maisie's "mom" but how would he even know Owen and Claire would even take Maisie in?
you are using your brain... that is exceeding the bound of what the screenwriters planned for the movie...
we had a scene in JW with Claire and Wu and I think the same when Owen has a word with the people in the lab

Well, in fairness, the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park and the Jurassic World franchises have ALWAYS had more charisma than any of the human characters and they've always been the main selling point of the movies.
But this time around, the difference is that the movie is a hot mess, the dinosaurs are reduced to being a part of the background and backdrop and the human characters aren't very interesting and aren't given very much to do where as in the first Jurassic Park movies, everything worked in the stories for the films, the plots were well-written, the dialogue was great, there were great effects and the dinosaurs AND the human characters were charismatic, appealing and interesting. The first two movies were magic but as Hollywood often does, they wringed out every last possible bit of creativity, originality and freshness out of the franchise
They finally jumped the shark with the franchise with Jurassic World: Dominion( and even worse than Jurassic Park 3 did).
I would have even preferred it more they had introduced genetically engineered, cloned prehistoric mammals like saber-tooth tigers, woolly mammoths, mastodons, prehistoric tigers and prehistoric cave lions to be in the movie along with the dinosaurs than the nonsensical drivel that they churned out here.
Jeff Goldblums lines when they're slow to walk because of the locusts, is just so fucking hilariously delivered.

I liked seeing Grant, Ellie and Malcolm all back. I like that Grant and Ellie get back together. I even appreciated Wu's redemption (probably because making him a villain was so ridiculous to begin with) everyone fighting the giga, particularly Malcolm, and Claire in the forest with the therozinosauraus. But that's pretty much it. Whenever I watch this now I fast forward through a good chunk of it.
There is a point to the giga/trex fight, but you need the extended version to see it.
Kayla should have been Kelly Malcolm from the second one. It'd be a nice callback and give her a tie in with the originals.

About the guy on the scooter, it´s pretty realistic. For work, I drive a bus that is 18.75m long, almost 3m high and wide. Oh and bright yellow. Yet these people never seem to notice me, they exist in their own world. Some of them are really shocked when they jump with these scooters on the street and I honk, because I am only about 2m behind them... So yeah pretty realistic.

That was presumably the "joke" they were aiming for, 'the oblivious person wandering into danger because they weren't paying attention', where they failed was that *EVERYBODY* in that whole scene started reacting to the dinosaurs as though they'd appeared out of thin air. It's like they started filming while everyone was in their "first positions" - then yelled action - then didn't edit out the delay.
One thing that is unbelievable is how many large dinosaurs are out in the world. Large animals always reproduce slowly. There wouldn't nearly be that many.
It's funny when Maisie flips off Wu, but her facial expression is what really sold it.
You forgot one interesting thing: These locusts would be unable to live in the real world, they would just suffocate immedietly.
Explanation: This locust looks to be something like 30cm long. That's almost three times the size of the goliath bug, one of the largest insects in the modern world. Getting much bigger than the goliath bug is pretty much impossible for an insect in the modern era. And that's because of the way insects breathe. Insects don't have lungs, they breath through tiny holes in their armor that are called stygma. However, there's a limit on how much oxygen you can get through stygma. For most insects that's not a problem because they are so small that they don't need much oxygen. But this locust is so large it would just suffocate immedietly. Not to mention that a locust this large would not be able to fly or just fly extremly short distances. The goliath bug already struggles with flying. It can fly but only short distances.
Good point that is why giant insects died out when the atmosphere dramatically changed in the Permian (?)

Yeah so some hell of a lot of work had to be done by Wu & Co to get them adapted when I'm sure normal-sized locusts would have done the job.
Haven't watched in a while so not sure if Dodgson is the 'vaine bbeg' type who would struggle up a hill just to have so biblical cool moment.
Not to mention, why the absolute fuck would they need dinosaur DNA to make insects big again? That's literally not how any of this works. Insects millions of years ago weren't massive cause of their DNA, but because of the oxygen content of the atmosphere and the fact insects have indeterminate growth, which means they keep growing as long as they have food, can molt, and breathe. This movie just expects people to buy that reptilian DNA can be spliced to insect DNA
And folks love to eat locust too. So if these were alive people would be fighting to get to them.

Consider this. The big twist of this movie undoing the twist of the last movie means maisie had nothing in common with the cloned dinosaurs making her unleashing them on the world even more reprehensible than it was back then.
Tehy only thing they changed is WHO made her. She is still a cloe who was made but it was her "mother" who did it not some other guy. They are even almost identically.

personally I love the moment in this movie when Claire was trying to escape from the raptor in the appartment in Malta and randomly opening a closet where an innocent woman and her child were hiding, exposing them to the raptor. Always found it sin-worthy

Also, the fact that she casually opens the closet and is like, "Oh, man! Fuck" and moves on like a hyper aggressive killing machine isn't chasing her around. My god
I had so much fun watching this in theatres with my aunt. We have loved this series my entire life. One of our favorite things is ripping on these movies. Even the great Jurassic Park. It's still wonderful, but so much fun to rip into.

So, thanks to the brilliant diplomacy of the mysterious space car, human, animal, and dinosaur will live side by side in peace!
My husband and I watched this movie, he fell asleep and I kept accidentally waking him up. I couldn't stop the "WTF" and "Are you kidding me?" and laughing so hard at the stupidity that is this movie.
