Just fyi yeah Camp Cretaceous doesn’t ever take place on Isla Sorna and the baby T-Rex was flown in so the lone adult T-Rex was the only one on the boat. My bad, been a while since I’ve seen Lost World and like I said in the video have never watched Camp Cretaceous. Also I take back everything I said about Klayton Fioriti in this video. He's a proud piece of shit and I regret giving him a spotlight here. Granted my channel is far smaller than his so I don't think it actually gave him any fans but still. I apologise for doing so in the first place.
Fun fact: The reason so much was cut from the Spino vs. T-Rex fight in JP3 was because the newly built animatronic puppet for the Spinosaurus actually decapitated the T-Rex animatronic they were reusing from The Lost World while they were shooting the “Spino slapping Rex in the face” part. Since they no longer had the Rex puppet, the writers and crew had to hastily rewrite the fight to work with the small amount of usable footage they had, giving us the controversial curbstomp we know today.
@@madaxgaming6405 Probably because T Rex is the mascot of the franchise, only for the big bad new guy to tear it up within a minute or two of them meeting.
I can’t tell you how upset I am they didn’t bring the Spino back for Dominion. I’ve never seen em miss such an opportunity for Rexy and the A SPINO to team up to take out a bigger threat(IMAGINE HOW COOL that could’ve been)
your intro really made me realize how there's very little other dinosaur based franchises aside from Jurassic Park, which is honestly baffling with how popular dinosaurs are, and also explains why the Jurassic Park franchise eventually went to ideas of dino weaponization and hybrids, because barely any other big movie/show would do it, so I can't blame the franchise for not waiting for someone else to use those ideas
They’ve shown off those ideas and simultaneously destroyed them. Indo rex and raptor both died, and while the indoraptor was a hybrid the indominus rex was a man made beast. I love that they killed both off and showed “life finds a way”. It’s why Jurassic world and fallen kingdom are under appreciated.
Actually the idea of dino-human hybrids was never gonna happen. In reality the production team hired a concept artist who was going to work on the art for the fourth movie. So while they were making the script for the hundred time, the artist got a bit bored and started to draw the dino-hybrids but someone found and leaked it online claiming it was going to be Jurassic Park 4 when in reality some lunatic just leaked an artist's drawings when they got bored.
There's actually alot but it's all basically just labled as Jurassic park knock offs haha so they don't get much budget or publicity I really want them to make a killer instinct horror movie I feel like that could be kinda cool
I like that, in World, they kinda excuse the dino differences in-universe by having Wu state that they did the changes on purposes because they wanted the dinos to look fiercer and "more teeth".
That’s a rehashed scene from the OG book, it was storyboarded but cut from the 93 film, Wu and Hammond arguing in a bungalow, “You didn’t ask me for ‘Real” etc, I like that they finally approached it in JW, but it’s been the reason from day 1 as to why the dinosaurs look how they do
@@josephsalvucci7316 While true, most haven't read the books and showing that scene in World, AFTER it became widespread knowledge that the dinosaurs didn't actually looked like that, was a very good idea.
I love the theory that rexys eyesight was purposeful. They gave her movement based eyesight so if she ever got out, staff would know to stand still and she couldnt see them.
no, it's based on the idea that animals with eyes on the opposite sides of their head have difficulty tracking movement. stay still and they can't see you. this is false, however.
Camp Cretaceous is actually surprisingly good. Sure it has a bunch of "that was so stupid, this is obviously aimed at kids" moments, but other than those moments it stands up and does get darker than I expected in moments
@@rawrdino7046 honestly maybe try watching the first half season or even just first few episodes. If you aren't getting any sort of enjoyment out of it, then it's probably not worth sticking with Edit: it's a pretty basic kids show all things considered. It's not going to wow anyone to the extent that shows like gravity falls do
“Isla Muerte” that literally translates to “Death Island”. The people in charge of Jurassic Park really don’t have good judgment do they? I also have a very funny memory of Jurassic Park the Ride where my dad got nailed in the face by a water spitting Dino while sitting on the front of the ride. He then decided to move to the back of the ride on a second go and the same Dino still nailed him.
One of the big themes in the original novel and points of contention between Wu and Hammond is that the dinosaurs are in fact inaccurate by nature of how they were created. Hammond wants to give people what they want to see in the dinosaurs(big, scary, unpredictable so people have more 'fun') but Wu wants to make them more docile and controllable. They have a few conversations about this.
False, in the novel the dinosaurs are accurate, it's said that those were exactly as their mesozoic counterparts, but Wu was worried that people wouldn't like the real dinosaurs, he ask Hammond if he can do dumber, slower and bigger dinosaurs, to fit in people's expectations
@@spencerstevens2175 In the novel it's said that doesn't matter mix the DNA, because vertebrates are really similar in their genetic structure. that of dino-monsters is from JP3 and JW, not from the original movies/novels
@@Braint-lr6uf Yep. That is the exactly why the excuse of "well the dinosaurs were purposefully made to be inaccurate" falls apart as it is directly contradicted by the novels and the original movie as well. Because even in the first movie, Hammond says that he wanted something "that was real, something they could see and touch." THAT excuse I mentioned earlier was created by Jurassic World in the laziest way imaginable.
23:33 the artist who drew some of the human/dino hybrid art spoke at my art school. He was showing us how bumpy and crazy pre-production can get, and even if you think it’s a dumb idea hey it’s your job. So sometimes you just have to draw something you’re not passionate about.
Nooo way, I wish you had some footage or something of his speech. While I think the art is dog shit and I can tell he didnt really give 2 fucks, I'd still love to hear what was going on at the time
This iceberg made me realize how the original Jurassic Park was essentially lightning in a bottle. There was something unique about it that neither sequels nor spinoffs could capture and the goofy elements (like the very idea of cloning and genetic manipulation, didn't dr. Wu say that their dinosaurs had more to do with dragons than actual dinosaurs?) didn't really matter much. I feel the creators tried to capture this uniqueness and couldn't. It might indicate that maybe nobody knew what they really wanted with the sequels and spinoffs, that's why they became so divisive and there's so much difficulty in making new dinosaur movies that can breach the mainstream like the intro mused about.
Because the characters were human, vulnerable, and the threat was novel. Once that novelty is gone, and the actors are action heroes it all degrades into generic tosh
Because none wants to have the wonder of the first movie and they all slowly turned into generic action guys evil corporations and monsters The original t Rex is scary as all fuck but you can believe it's an animal this is also kinda why a lot of people who like dinosaurs dislikes the newer movies they don't even pretend these are animals
The Lost World also has something unique, both movies has a soul, you can see how TLW is a sequel but also works really well alone, but sadly this movie is way more underrated
There were a few things that made the movie stand out. First, the Michael Crichton book was very good so they had a basic template to work with (even if they heavily veered off course), and the way the dinosaurs were depicted in both the book and the film was revolutionary since dinosaurs were usually depicted as slow-moving with dragging tails (not to say that more modern theories about dinosaurs weren't already in circulation, but it wasn't part of the public sphere at the time). In conjunction with Spielberg adding his Indiana Jones adventure style, a competent cast of actors, and excellent special effects, it was really lightning in a bottle.
I remember listening (audiobook) to the scene in the lake with the sleeping T-Rex and Lex being…. Lex… and being literally on the edge of my seat and fidgeting with tense anticipation of what was to come next. It really was one of my favorite parts of the book, so scary!
In the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis video game of the original Jurassic Park, made in 1993 by developer Blue Sky Software, it features a level, when playing as Alan Grant, where you have to travel down a river in a motorised raft while avoiding attacks by the T-Rex. So the movie might not feature that great sequence from the novel, but the Mega Drive/Genesis game does. 😁
Weird fact, the school I went to for k-8 uses the original jurrasic park score as the music kids walk to for the 8th grade graduation ceremony. I believe the story is the school allowed the first graduating class to pick the music and they still use it to this day. I will never forget the exact point in the score where I was supposed to start walking.
For novel differences, I’m surprised you didn’t mention what I think is the most important difference: how much more violent the books are. Nedry’s death in the novel has long been the go to example of how much more violent the book is compared to the movie.
The book actually has a number of characters who die in the film survive (and a number of film survivors dying). Gennaro and Muldoon survive the book, while Wu and Hammond die.
One of my favourite details in the novel is that though the T. rex had bad eyesight from the amphibian DNA, it could still see Alan grant; the reason he wasn’t killed was that the T. rex was full from eating the lawyer
I find it awesome that you mentioned klayton I've watched him for years and just love all the theories he talks about really gives people a better understanding of certain subjects in this franchise
Scientifically inaccurate Dino's aside, Jurassic Park is so much fun. Nice to see a giant iceberg based on it Also having LEGO Jurassic Park footage is very based
not all inaccuracies arent that much inaccurate, as the velociraptor, they are just deinonychus, but at time of writing deinonychus was considered a velociraptor (they still need to have feathers)
@@ElysiaWhitemoonOmega by the time of the original JP the feathers in dinosaurs it wasn't accepted by all the scientific community. So in that aspect JP was a little bit tight with the raptors (but even if they were based on Deinonychus they are still big). The dilophosaurus yes... they have no excuse, they were extremely inaccurate in the film
Camp Cretaceous is a good show. It has lots of references and good humour for the whole family. It starts a bit bland but if you keep watching the writers did a good job portraying how the kids got traumatized on such a dangerous environment. The animation is what I judged at first but I got over it
Gotta say, aside from the Cryptozoology Iceberg, this is probably my favorite one you have made. I am a huge Jurassic Park fan, and I am glad to see Camp Cretaceous is getting a bit more love and recognition!
There’s a great scene in the first book where Alan grant has been chased by the raptors into the incubation room. He grabs a Raptor egg and rolls it towards the Raptors, assuming that their parental instincts will kick in and they’ll chase after it, but the raptors just eat it and continue towards him
This detail would later have Grant make the most genius power move, where he injects a poisonous chemical into a couple of Raptor egg. Than rolled these eggs towards the Raptors again, knowing that the Raptors would eat them too. The Raptors would then die from being contaminated by the eggs.
No, I think you're misrembering this, Grant used the eggs to poison them, however Tim threw a baby raptor at them when they were chased into the nursery trying to distract them and they tore it apart. I think you fused the parts together.
hey Pigpen, I know you probably get this a lot but I truly mean it when your icebergs are probably the greatest icebergs videos in general. The amount of research you put into these icebergs it's just so amazing compared to other ones on reddit which most of the time are usually just badly researched and most the time have Creepypasta stuffed in the bottom which is just annoying ( no offense by the way to your older icebergs). I hope to see this channel grow even more in future. :)
A while back you mentioned your affinity for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and how you could make a 10 hour video about its greatness. It is a movie that is not talked about much and I personally have it in my Top 10. Myself and everyone else here would love to hear your take on the movie in a video soon.
Yeah I’ve seen both guardians 1 & 2 probably the most over of all the mcu movies, they are probably near perfect movies in my opinion. I just have never been like yah fuck it I’ll watch these movies for the 17th time. It’s Just entertaining character dynamics, good ass 80’s tunes, campy space shenanigans and dance off bro.
Honestly I've been obsessed with this franchise ever since I can even remember as far back as three or four years old I was watching Jurassic Park. I knew most of it but I was pleasantly surprised to learn some new things in tiers three and four. Great video and an excellent intro for forcing everyone I know to understand the Jurassic Park lore lmao
@@mr.hazamayukiterumi there is hardly any worth watching, aside from a bunch of low budget dinosaur b movies all we really have in terms of dinosaur movies is jurrassic park. Journey to the center of the earth and movies like it only FEATURE a dinosaur and I wouldn't consider them dinosaur movies. Besides from that the rest of all dinosaur movies are kid friendly and depict dinosaurs as caring gentle creatures
Man, this takes me back. I used to be obsessed with everything Jurassic Park as a kid - films, games, books, comics, toys etc. Still sort of obsessed today lol. I was even a moderator on the Jurassic Park Legacy forums back in the early to mid 00s, if anyone remembers that.😂
I think the Telltale Jurassic Park game was painfully overlooked, although quite a few Telltale games were. Something about being in the empty park after everything already went down combines the liminal feeling of the original movie with an apocalyptic mood, in a weird way. And I kinda consider it a true sequel to the first movie, even if I do like Lost World. Maybe that's just me.
Even though I’m not super passionate about dinosaurs or the JP franchise, I occasionally find myself binging Klayton’s video. He’s very good at making interesting content.
It bugs me how many people, still to this day, rave on about the inaccuracies when the very first movie CLEARLY states how they fill in missing DNA with other animals. I feel like people either just skipped the scene or choose to ignore it to jump on the bandwagon.
Fun fact; the game engine foundation for Gmod ,half-life and portal where copied off of Jurassic Park trespasser's game engine. If it wasn't for trespasser none of those three games would have been possible.
Incredible dinosaur and Jurassic Park content! Can't believe this video is as long as a standard movie in length. Your knowledge of the dino universe and games is epic. The coverage of the Carnosaur knockoff series caught my eye. Cheesy as it appears to be - gonna check it out! Thanks.
I put Camp Cretaceous on in the background one day not really expecting much, but once the show gets going it's a nice watch. One of the characters references John Hammond's book death before being corrected, and when asked where she heard that from, she says she read it in a book.
Loved that you mentioned The Telltale Game I used to love playing it with my cousin, and from Dominion I think we can assume it’s sadly no longer canon with the Barbasol Can being present and not crushed, with the mud still being on it.
I *loved* the Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect toyline as a kid, and had no idea there was a cartoon planned at one time. Yes, the color schemes are garish, but when you're an eight-year old girl who loves dinosaurs, you tend to overlook that kind of thing. I'm kinda sad we didn't get human/dinosaur hybrids with guns... but I'm weird, so...
19:16 Funny that you mention that, because while inaccurate by today's standards, for the time, it was surprisingly bang on in terms of accuracy. At the time, they didn't know that Spinosaurus was actually quadrupedal, so that's a pass. They also didn't even know Spinosaurus was semi-aquatic, meaning the boat scene, which was going to use the T-rex, is better than we even knew at the time.
The quadruped hypothesis has been called into question and it was found its centre of mass wasn’t where we would put that of other theropods. It was likely bipedal, just using a very awkward stance
Since you asked at the end, my favorite dinosaur would probably be Utahraptor, mainly because of how relatively obscure it is while being unintentionally relevant to the Jurassic Park franchise in a few notable ways.
Relating to the Spinosaurus controversy, the way I view it is that the Spinosaurus in Jurassic Park 3 is somewhat akin to the Indominus Rex, in that it’s a genetic experiment. I know that promotion for Jurassic World had some hidden files related to the Spinosaurus being subject to experiments on Isla Sorna years prior but I can’t remember what exactly was said. Personally my interpretation is that I think it may have been an experiment gone wrong that led to a highly aggressive genetically modified Spinosaurus (possibly made for purposes of war?) This would explain the inconsistencies with our modern view of Spinosaurus, as it could be an early attempt at a genetic hybrid like the Indominus Rex. EDIT: finished the video, saw you mention this theory haha, yeah I always thought the scorpius Rex being the first hybrid explanation was an annoying and inconsiderate thing to add personally, but hey - it is was it is
But is this really necessary...? The dinosaurs in Jurassic Park clearly serve the purpose of science-fiction monsters, not accurate scientific representations, which are a moving target anyway with extinct animals.
I mean if you really need a post hoc rationalization. The majority of the mistakes are just due to the fact that we were using the best information we had at the time. Some things were added despite knowing they were wrong but there's no need to go back and explain shit. The T-Rex loss because the spinosaurus was better in the movie. That's it.
I honestlt highly recommend Camp cretaceus. Its story and characters arcs can easily put new JP/JW movies to shame in comprasion. Also it explains plenty of plot holes and answers a lot of guestions Also fun fact about Spinosaurus being on the desert section of the island: He was placed there by a sadistic guy who like seeing dinosaurs slowly dying in enviroment that is terrible for them
Dude, you just unlocked a memory buried so deep in my subconcious I had forgotten it completely. My mother had a PS1 and after I was born I used to play Jurassic park warpath SO MUCH. I had even forgotten about the PS1 itself, so thanks for unlocking the memory!
I think this is the second time I've watched this, just cleaning around the house. The adding of old commercials is such an awesome addition. Just wanted to comment that.
I am sure somebody already said this, but the little Japanese Promotional Magazine is something that Japanese Cinemas do for films. They're basically like theater programs you'd find at a traditional stage play or something similar. I actually own one for Godzilla Vs. Space Godzilla that I got from a convention.
Very long, very detailed, another nice video from you, Pigpen man. Jurassic Park III : Park Builder was my favorite game of my childhood and I spent an eternity playing it, an absolute trip down nostalgia lane there. Thank you, I really mean it, I loved your vids.
Great video man it’s neat to learn so much more about fun facts and weird info about a franchise you love. And you did more than butcher those names, you reeked so much extinction level havoc i couldnt recognize even them.
My favorite dinosaur is acrocanthosaurus, I love just how every appearance it’s made has portrayed it as this elegant giant carnivore, I also love drawing acro, he is fun to draw
It is strange how franchises work in America. I loved the first couple of movies as a child, and yet I was completely unaware of almost everything in this video. Besides the movies, I only knew about the first book and some of the earliest videogames. I'm not sure how I feel about all of this. Especially the idea that the second book was influenced by the movies and stuff like a stage show seem to weaken the story.
Dilophosaurus was actually one of the larger predators of its time period, quite large, in fact. Its size in JP is closer to Velociraptor, and vice versa.
I don’t know how controversial this is, but I much prefer the novels that being Jurassic park and the lost world over their movie counterpart’s especially the lost world. I understand movies are very expensive to make, but I would have loved and still want to see movies that follow the plots of the 2 Michael Crichton novels. I still believe that the Jurassic park movie we got is a cinematic masterpiece and is one of my favorite movies of all time, but I think it would be cool for a different take on the classic story.
I would personally love a animated mini series for both of the novels, following the plot points beat for beat. I would imagine it as a mix between the recent Invincible cartoon in terms of it’s violences, and the Shining TV Mini Series where it dives deeper into themes and ideas of the book than what the movies touched the tip of. Sure, I know the troubles of adapting a book to a video format like a movie. First reason being that a book is (most of the time) all about telling. Telling is a big no no for movies as they should follow the classic rule of “show don’t tell”. Second reason, books can get away with being longer since it’s not required to be completely in one sitting like a movie is. This freedom that books process allows them to explore their topic for how ever long that they see fit. Now there are times when less is more, as demonstrated by another Steven Spielberg movie vs it’s book counterpart, Jaws. The book has many plot points that are in the movie, such as the Mafia ties with the mayor and a love affair between Hooper and Brody’s Wife. These unnecessary parts just bloats the main story of a man eating shark on the loose. The movie not only benefits the main course of the story, but it also removes most of what made the book so unbearable, the horribly miserable character. As Spielberg was developing the script for Jaws, he originally wanted the shark to win because of how unlikable the main characters were. He thankful took a different direction and set out to make Brody, Hooper, and Quint more likable as a small group of friends. Hooper is still a smart ass but at least he ain’t fucking Brody’s wife behind his. (There’s also the fact that Quint has little to no characterization or personality in the book, which makes me appreciate the movie version of Quint even more than I previously did.) Back to the Jurassic Park book and movie. I love both of them with all of my heart, but not in the same ways. The movie is like a wonderland of adventure, while the book are a grim outlook of reality. I’m not trying to say that the movie is kiddy or watered down compared to the book, far from it. What I’m trying to explain are the tones that separate the two apart, and there’s no better character that explains them than John “Santa Claus” Hammond. Movie Hammond is a loving grandpa that you want to give the tightest hug possible to. Inviting his grand kids to his awesome dinosaur zoo to get them away from their parents, who are getting a divorce. Sure he’s not perfect, but at least he learns from his mistakes, taking Ellie’s “you never had control” words to heart. Book Hammond is no where near a loving grandpa, or even a loving person for that matter. He’s a money hungry capitalist, using his grand kids as manipulative tools so his overpriced zoo can be approved. The most defining thing that separates Book Hammond from Movie Hammond is that Book Hammond doesn’t learn a damn thing. Book Hammond believe that it was other people fault that the park went to shit, and that trying to restart on a different park will give him better results. Chaos theory, the problem getting more and more complex as more problems occur, is a big part of both versions. Many things in the park goes unaccounted for, leading to new problems to show themselves left and right. If Book Hammond couldn’t look over all the problems of one park, than who’s to say that he’ll look over the problems of a second or third park? Thankfully he’s killed like the bastard he is before he could add more problems for the world, but it’s too late for the problems that he already did cause. Book Hammond is just as unlikable as book version of the characters in Jaws, but what sets them apart is that Book Hammond had a reason to be unlikable. Book Hammond is supposed to represent how arrogance can lead to the slippery slope of chaos. Movie Hammond lives since he learned not to make the same mistake twice. Book Hammond would have still died for not adapting and moving on, even if he didn’t fall down that slope. As much as I love the lighthearted approach of the movies, the books have some dark yet though provoking themes. I believe these themes deserve to be explored more in a mini series so that it would have more time to shine than they would in a movie.

The Jurassic Park 2 severed hand freaked me the fuck out as a kid. I was and still am a inquisitive person, so when I see a bunch of severed body parts with no logical way they died, it really played on my fear of the unknown. There is still NO WAYS the adult T. rex could have killed the capitan, with her being stuck in the cargo bay and the adult T. rex being so big, if she stuck her head through the door to eat the capitan, it would leave a noticeable dent in the door. Even the Raptor hypothesis doesn’t work, as Ingen was heavily armoured and probably guarded the docks until the boat set sail, so the killer could have only did their thing once they were out to sea… This shit was the ‘Event Horizon’ for my kid brain…
I recently read the book for jp1, currently working through the lost world. Most cut scenes from the first movie are from the book, I wish they had the swimming Rex it’s such a cool and unique concept and definitely would have made the film much scarier
A little correction, you have to pronounce the first o in Giganotosaurus. I'm fairly certain that Gigantosaurus was a sauropod, not a theropod like Giganotosaurus.
1:56:00 I remember having ALL of these comics as a kids. They'd show up in this little comic stand in one of my local supermarkets and I remember begging my parents to buy them every time a new one came out. I had them stored in a binder, but time was not kind to them.
On Halloween last year during your cryptids iceberg you said you wanted to make an alien iceberg eventually, do you plan on doing that for this Halloween?
not about the alien franchise but about alien/ufo sightings. I plan on making that for this year's Halloween video. Though I'm not opposed to making an iceberg about the Alien/Predator franchise
Fun Fact: You can still access the Dinosaur Protection Group. Just the main home page is locked, not the other pages of the site. So the only thing you can't access is the main front page of the website.
Little tidbit for people. I don't remember the name of it, though I'm unshakeably confident in it being fanmade. I remember around the time of the FNAF craze and clone wave that spawned playing a clone loosely adapted from JP. The whole goal really was to stay holed up in one of the offices long enough for the navy to extract you from the base. Velociraptors took on stand in roles for the rabbit and chicken while the T-rex was Freddys stand in. I don't remember much else about it besides that I played it on the phone after I downloaded it from Gplay, and that It actually scared me for being a clone.
a veteran speaking, Is this the "Five nights at Jurassic World" app game? I remember playing it in 2015/6 a lot, DYING a THOUSАND TIMES and then realising that there was a second game LOL (that had the Indominus Rex, Suchomimus and many more dinosaurs
The Monaham JP4 script involved dinosaurs beginning to migrate onto the mainland and InGen forming a team led by Ian and Alan to find out what’s going on. It actually sounds pretty cool and it sucks that it didn’t happen.
My brother and I LOVED Jurassic Park: Warpath. We unlocked all Dinos and loved playing as different colors. It was a wild ride, haha. Love this franchise!
This video came at the right time, as I love your Godzilla and cryptid icebergs! So, seeing an iceberg on a franchise I've loved since I was a child from someone who does a pretty good job on these, I just had to watch. I knew a good bit of em, but some like that JP 3 phone are new to me, but overall enjoyed the video and your added humorous bits to some of the entries lol. Also, my favorite dinosaur is the spinosaurus since you kindly asked at the end. Loved it since JP 3.
One game I think you missed was the lost world arcade shooter. I used to play it all the time growing up, since my church had one...I spent so many hours on it, it probably sucks looking back at it lol, but watching this video brought back so many great memories, thanks
Holy shit, I had that Jurassic Park Battles game when I was growing up, I completely forgot what it was called and kinda wondered if it was even real or just some weird fabrication of my mind. I remember there was this other Jurassic Park game that I had that was sort of like a 1/2 player game that involved having a little jeep driving around to various parts of a top down map, and that your character was wearing this weird suit, and that the player characters were green and purple. No idea what it was called but I can't help but think about it every so often.
Great video! There was actually another game that came out around JP3 that I had as a kid. It was called "Jurassic Park: Scan Command", and it seems to be extremely rare with only a couple of copies ever on ebay. Basically, you have a dinosaurs that you use to fight other dinosaurs to capture them. The big gimmick is you raise your dino's levels and stats by using the included scanner to scan UPC codes. Super weird, but it was a ton of fun. I have never met anyone else who had this.
I adore that you mentioned Pod! 20:05 Pods Travels and Little Das’s Hunt were my favorites from that series! (Can’t remember the name of the series tho, lmao. Would love to rewatch.)
Not sure if the original novel was changed by the time I read it, but Ian Malcom's death there didn't seem certain. It was mentioned off hand at the end of the book that he died to an infection mid-transport IIRC? It was something that could be easily changed with mild excuses, but I'm glad he stuck around. ♥
My favorite dinosaur is the Spinosaurus, because of its weirdness. Also I was hoping that you would mention the GamingBeaver, since he plays a lot of the jurrassic games in general, but mostly the mobile ones, or I guess mention him in a JP iceberg 2 maybe.
Honestly, I think LEGO should make Legacy sets for the Jurassic Park trilogy that includes Stegosaurus and an updated model of Spinosaurus. They did do Legacy sets for Harry Potter and Star Wars. Edit: It also gives people a second chance to get revamped sets that are currently hundreds of dollars with updated models which means more money for them because money is apparently all you need.
Talking about the Brachiosaurus from Fallen Kingdom, it was revealed in an interview with the director and I think Colin that it was the same Brachiosaurus from the first movie.
the evolution of claire is an awesome book! i totally recommend it. it gives a lot of background to the beginnings of jurassic world, and why claire turns into the control obsessed park operations manager. (surprisingly, she starts out wanting to work with the dinosaurs and has always been big on advocating for animal rights.) the formation of the DPG by claire makes even more sense after reading this book and seeing how long she’s been involved in causes like this.
Hey man, I loved that Jurassic Park fighting game 😭🤣 I played the hell out of that. It was pretty fun tbh. Also the learning aspect was pretty cool; they separated the dinosaurs by what Era they lived and gave descriptions. Pretty cool for a dinosaur lover.
I almost forgot about the Fazoli's eggs! I had stumbled upon the eggs as a kid browsing JPToys sometime around 2005, and since there were no Fazoli's near me, my dad found each of the eggs via eBay. I even begged my parents to make a trip to the nearest Fazoli's-- which was about an hour and a half away--hoping that they would have some left-over toys. They didn't, but I ended up getting hooked on their food.

You need to watch it it good
the shows good, but the robot doggos was a sort of jumping shark thing.
When I seen it I was excited for my 4 year old to get into Jurassic Park...... We watch it together and as a 39 year old I rather enjoy the show
All good great vid as always hey what’s your favorite thing in the iceberg?
Fun fact: The reason so much was cut from the Spino vs. T-Rex fight in JP3 was because the newly built animatronic puppet for the Spinosaurus actually decapitated the T-Rex animatronic they were reusing from The Lost World while they were shooting the “Spino slapping Rex in the face” part. Since they no longer had the Rex puppet, the writers and crew had to hastily rewrite the fight to work with the small amount of usable footage they had, giving us the controversial curbstomp we know today.
That must’ve been amazing to see
@@crackerjack0349 Yeah, they said oil was going everywhere like blood 😂
Lol I would have had much fun seeing the Ingen Spino bite the heck of the Ingen Tyrannosaurus rex's head off like a big fish xD
Idk why people keep saying that we fans were angry back in the day about the spino kiling the T.Rex, Spinosaurus was the new big thing.

Sucks it was swapped for dimetridon
your intro really made me realize how there's very little other dinosaur based franchises aside from Jurassic Park, which is honestly baffling with how popular dinosaurs are, and also explains why the Jurassic Park franchise eventually went to ideas of dino weaponization and hybrids, because barely any other big movie/show would do it, so I can't blame the franchise for not waiting for someone else to use those ideas
only a few before it and multiple times others tried after but all are fossils as a T Rex poses for another logo in the Jurassic series
I always thought dinotopia would be a contender
I like that, in World, they kinda excuse the dino differences in-universe by having Wu state that they did the changes on purposes because they wanted the dinos to look fiercer and "more teeth".
Could also explain how they survive in our world cause I don’t know if they would be able to in there original form

The scorpious Rex arc was the best horror jp has ever had
Season 3 it's the only "darker" part of the series, then we've got a childish mediocre show with a decent animation
I’ll probably check it out, but the fighting looks very choppy from what I’ve seen, and it doesn’t look like I’ll enjoy the main characters.
The animation looks bad is it worth powering though it?
@@rawrdino7046 honestly maybe try watching the first half season or even just first few episodes. If you aren't getting any sort of enjoyment out of it, then it's probably not worth sticking with

Maybe they named it that for sarcasm
As someone who speaks spanish, no, It's "isla muerta", as if the island was dead or had nothing to offer basically dead island, not death island
@@itande0551 that’s my bad I read it as “Muerte”. You’re right.
That dino had some serious accuracy 🤣🤣
No, they didn't have great judgement. They were so occupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.
@@Braint-lr6uf nope. They have no idea what they were really like. The genomes weren't complete in the novel either.
@@thanujadamithangani7265 yes because Hammond quite literally meant he wanted something PHYSICALLY real. Is it hard being that dumb and salty?

Real!?
It just goes to show why Spielberg is one of the best directors of all time
Because the characters were human, vulnerable, and the threat was novel. Once that novelty is gone, and the actors are action heroes it all degrades into generic tosh
Because none wants to have the wonder of the first movie and they all slowly turned into generic action guys evil corporations and monsters
The original t Rex is scary as all fuck but you can believe it's an animal this is also kinda why a lot of people who like dinosaurs dislikes the newer movies they don't even pretend these are animals
The raft chase was actually in the original novel. To me, that was a pretty suspenseful scene.
agreed man, im a diehard jp fan, that shit was intense
This is so interesting!
that would have been so sick, ours was just generic string music smh
For novel differences, I’m surprised you didn’t mention what I think is the most important difference: how much more violent the books are. Nedry’s death in the novel has long been the go to example of how much more violent the book is compared to the movie.
There really neefs to be a R rated JP movie.
Not to mention a baby that gets eaten by Compies
Personally I've always found Dr. Wu's death to be more brutal
The book actually has a number of characters who die in the film survive (and a number of film survivors dying). Gennaro and Muldoon survive the book, while Wu and Hammond die.
That’s because the movie was PG-13 so kids could see it.
One of my favourite details in the novel is that though the T. rex had bad eyesight from the amphibian DNA, it could still see Alan grant; the reason he wasn’t killed was that the T. rex was full from eating the lawyer
I dunno, if I had just eaten a lawyer I would have gone for something to wash the bad taste out of my mouth
eating 1 human being wouldn't fill the trex stomach
Genaro never dies in the novel, he dies by dysentery after ther first novel but before the second novel

Camp Cretaceous is a good show. It has lots of references and good humour for the whole family. It starts a bit bland but if you keep watching the writers did a good job portraying how the kids got traumatized on such a dangerous environment. The animation is what I judged at first but I got over it
Honestly same
Gotta say, aside from the Cryptozoology Iceberg, this is probably my favorite one you have made.
Huh. I listened to audio book and don't remember this detail
The downside to reading a book once. And letting Years pass like me? It's easy to forget cool moments like this
No, I think you're misrembering this, Grant used the eggs to poison them, however Tim threw a baby raptor at them when they were chased into the nursery trying to distract them and they tore it apart. I think you fused the parts together.
We both love JP3, the spino and the horribly made tributes with rock music, good to see we had similar childhoods lmao
I also loved it
JP3 never existed, never has and never will. It's clearly just a massive fever dream that totally didn't kill the franchise for over a decade

Awesome video. It’s insane how much lore this franchise has that goes beyond what is shown or said in the movies

It bugs me how many people, still to this day, rave on about the inaccuracies when the very first movie CLEARLY states how they fill in missing DNA with other animals. I feel like people either just skipped the scene or choose to ignore it to jump on the bandwagon.

A 2 hour iceberg video of one of my favorite franchises of all time. Hell yes!
19:16
Funny that you mention that, because while inaccurate by today's standards, for the time, it was surprisingly bang on in terms of accuracy.
This was a really good video. Good background imagery, great jokes, and very fun and informative to listen too. Overall I really enjoyed my time.
Personally my interpretation is that I think it may have been an experiment gone wrong that led to a highly aggressive genetically modified Spinosaurus (possibly made for purposes of war?)
This would explain the inconsistencies with our modern view of Spinosaurus, as it could be an early attempt at a genetic hybrid like the Indominus Rex.
That's it.

Another awesome iceberg and video, love the research and the topics covered. Never got disappointed when watching them 🔥🔥🔥
Dilophosaurus was actually one of the larger predators of its time period, quite large, in fact.
(There’s also the fact that Quint has little to no characterization or personality in the book, which makes me appreciate the movie version of Quint even more than I previously did.)
Back to the Jurassic Park book and movie.
(There’s also the fact that Quint has little to no characterization or personality in the book, which makes me appreciate the movie version of Quint even more than I previously did.)
Back to the Jurassic Park book and movie.
Even the Raptor hypothesis doesn’t work, as Ingen was heavily armoured and probably guarded the docks until the boat set sail, so the killer could have only did their thing once they were out to sea…
This shit was the ‘Event Horizon’ for my kid brain…
Hey wasn't the t rex which got on to NYC a male? Wasn't it the dad? Also never thought of it that way....
Pigpen: *makes an iceberg on JP*
Me: *rips through a metal wall like SpongeBob*
I recently read the book for jp1, currently working through the lost world. Most cut scenes from the first movie are from the book, I wish they had the swimming Rex it’s such a cool and unique concept and definitely would have made the film much scarier
I have respect for people who can just enjoy these movies for what they are instead of complaining about them
A little correction, you have to pronounce the first o in Giganotosaurus. I'm fairly certain that Gigantosaurus was a sauropod, not a theropod like Giganotosaurus.
So many people say it wrong and it drives me nuts. Lol
@@mattseebach8386 I just call it a giga like in ark
1:56:00 I remember having ALL of these comics as a kids. They'd show up in this little comic stand in one of my local supermarkets and I remember begging my parents to buy them every time a new one came out. I had them stored in a binder, but time was not kind to them.
How did you miss that Laura Dern's mom, Diane Ladd, had a prominent role in Carnosaur?!?!
Great video, btw!
@@Pigpen_YT I meant UFO sightings and stuff when I said aliens, though an Alien/Predator iceberg sounds cool
Fun Fact: You can still access the Dinosaur Protection Group.
Just the main home page is locked, not the other pages of the site. So the only thing you can't access is the main front page of the website.
Has anybody else ever wonder how the guys on the boat in the beginning of Jurassic Park 3 died, because they were on a boat not on the island?
I heard Theories that it was a mosasaur. Unlikely. Or pterodactyls.
I think that canonically it was the spinosaurus
Spinosaurus or Mosasaurs
Couldn't be the pteranodons, as they weren't released yet
@@jesusramirezromo2037 spin-off for sho. Mosoasarus isn’t real yet
They were swallowed by Oblivion.
Forgotten to time. I can’t believe this, I still have my original dinosaur battles disk.
Babe wake up, new pigpen iceberg just dropped.
Oh yea
@@galaxydeathskrill5607 Probably.
Do NOT sleep on Camp Cretacious... Despite it being a kids show on Netflix, its pretty damn violent sometimes and has some pretty cool moments...
It's basically Star Wars: The Clone Wars but Jurassic Park/World.
Great video, man. You covered a lot in this video that I didn’t know about as a huge Jurassic Park fan! You earned a new sub from me
The Monaham JP4 script involved dinosaurs beginning to migrate onto the mainland and InGen forming a team led by Ian and Alan to find out what’s going on.
He literally mentions that in the video tho
If no one has watched Camp Cretaceous, watch it, it's really good, yes it's a kids show but deadass I've enjoyed it so much! Bf loved it too!
I adore that you mentioned Pod!
20:05
Pods Travels and Little Das’s Hunt were my favorites from that series!
(Can’t remember the name of the series tho, lmao. Would love to rewatch.)
Dinosaur Planet from 2003. Goated show
@@Pigpen_YT
Thank you so much!
On my way to rewatch now!
13:39 The robot thing feels just as jarring but plausible as you mentioned. After like 3 episodes I stopped even noticing it.
He was one of my favorite UA-camrs when I was younger!
Had no idea how deep JP lore and media was but very cool it is! Dinosaurs will forever rule the world (in our hearts
Camp Cretaceous is good. I’d say it’s tone is similar to Star Wars Clone Wars - it’s animated but it doesn’t feel too childish. For the most part.
I’d say closer to Rebels than CW.
EVILution is such a weird piece of forgotten media because a lot of the concepts used in the haunt were early scripts for JP4 brought to life.
That first greenish fake jp4 poster brought a rush into my brain
I know this video is a year old but I do believe they released a trailer last month for Jurassic Park survival.
I love both Pigpen and Jurassic Park but I died a bit inside every time he said "pteradon" instead of "pteranodon"
the evolution of claire is an awesome book! i totally recommend it. it gives a lot of background to the beginnings of jurassic world, and why claire turns into the control obsessed park operations manager. (surprisingly, she starts out wanting to work with the dinosaurs and has always been big on advocating for animal rights.) the formation of the DPG by claire makes even more sense after reading this book and seeing how long she’s been involved in causes like this.
you forgot to mention the BEST dino franchise at the beginning of this video: THE LAND BEFORE TIME
Hey man, I loved that Jurassic Park fighting game 😭🤣 I played the hell out of that. It was pretty fun tbh. Also the learning aspect was pretty cool; they separated the dinosaurs by what Era they lived and gave descriptions. Pretty cool for a dinosaur lover.
Mandela effect moment: I could swear I remember the Compsognathus are the ones who kill the crew from the boat in The Lost World
I almost forgot about the Fazoli's eggs!
Pigpen trying to pronounce dinosaur names kills me on so many levels cory Saurus 🥲
The rest of the video is good enough I was able to ignore it haha
So Jurassic Park Survivor was canceled before. Well, looks like we're getting after all.
