Can we also stop for a moment to acknowledge that Maisie's reaction when the ladder got clamped down by the giga was one of the most realistic reactions any of the children in this franchise ever had. The way she delivered the line "I'm gonna die" while crying hysterically was superb.
Isabella Sermon was a perfect addition to already adorable Chris Pratt and Bryce Howard's duo! Grady-Dearing-Lockwood family is one of the very few human casts of a non-human-centered movie that are a selling point for me.
Alan going “yeah” as if he’s having flashbacks to Tim flying off the fence and the line “your rapacious rat bastard” just gives me such joy, just Ian Malcom saying it makes me so damn happy
If you really think about it, the Jurassic franchise has been about about Parenthood and Family. Go back in every movie and the underlying plot is adults saving and protecting kids or the next generation with dinosaurs being the next generation that humans/parents "created/produced"
This is actually a really nice point. When viewed this way, the franchise is also injecting some antinatalist viewpoints about creation. People are so busy creating that they don't see the suffering they've created. Jeff Goldblum's line in the original supports this. "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." Just like people today are so preoccupied with the idea of creating life that they don't look to the future at the world their children will ultimately have to live in.
My only issue with that is that there's a pattern of everyone dismissing the characters who don't like or want children and them ending up changing their minds and having kids anyway, which perpetuates the idea that everyone will want kids eventually.
Correction: the Jurassic MOVIE franchise has been about that. The original book was very clearly about humanity playing God and paying the consequences for their hubris.
12:20 There’s actually a reason the Therizinosaurus attacked the deer, you see, Therizinosaurus was an extremely territorial animal and could get very aggressive if something was invading its space, it didn’t attack Claire because she wasn’t making noise, it did attack the deer because it was making noise, very clearly invading the Therizinosaurus’ territory
15:52 I really like the throw back when Ian is waving the flaming locust around and how it parallels the moment in Jurassic Park one when hes trying to distract the T-Rex with the flare but he doesn't know how to do it properly so it chases him. He figured it out by now.
I love this movie. Unabashedly and unironically. For a whole bunch of reasons. One of which is finally seeing Wu, who was always able in all 5 of the previous films, pass the responsibility off to others, be the one responsible, directly, for a thing and see the full force of that hit him in the face. And it breaks him. He is broken this entire movie. He is joyless. His shoulders are always slumped like he's got the weight of everything on him. His voice. Everything. And to see him so desperate to set it right... to see him finally in the end do it. It was a good solid arc for him.
Dodgson in this movie was Andrew Garfield’s dad in the Marc Webb Spider Man movies, just like Mr. Masrani, who was in the car on the bridge in TASM1. John Schwartzman, also did the cinematography on TASM1 and Jurassic World.
Also weirdly Mr. Masrani starred in Life of PI and Eli Mills played the writer interviewing him in Life of PI. And the weird connection to Dodgson? Dodgson's actor was named Richard Parker in Amazing Spider-Man. Which is also the name of the tiger.

The other Rexes at the end are Buck and Doe from The Lost World. Also this is definitely NOT the end of the series. I believe we’re actually getting another animated series set after Fallen Kingdom, not to mention more movies.
This is definitely the end. We already have 6 movies, Camp Cretaceous with 5 seasons/49 episodes, Battle at Big Rock, and the 32 minute long Hidden Adventure.
1:36 Actually Battle at Big Rock was not a deleted scene. It was always intended to be a short film released between the movies. Notice the cameras used don’t quite match the film quality as Fallen Kingdom and Dominion. But that being said, I would kill for a version of Dominion that had Battle at Big Rock in it. Definitely as a replacement for the Now This News intro we got.
@@darthmeticulous6901 yeah, I know in theory all of the many different reasons they could fly, but that doesn't mean my brain still baulks at the idea of a 5 meter tall animal just casually taking off and flying away lol

At the start of the novel when we get Alan & Ellie’s introduction, Alan tells a visitor investigating InGen that the site measures time in beer. I kinda feel like JW did 'em dirty. I always got the impression that it's more a peaceful giant with the guns to back up its threat display rather than something almost predatory despite its herbivory. More _Deinocheirus_ energy than dino-villain energy.
@@impishDullahan I mean... Yea i definitely agree... But the media that the theri is in tends to portray them as highly territorial. And the theri in JW was blind, which i feel at least somewhat excuses the heightened aggression... but only a little
Just to be clear, Quetzalcoatlus is not a bird. It's not any kind of dinosaur. Pterosaurs and dinosaurs are part of the same higher group called archosaurs though, and that group also includes modern crocodiles.
Seeing as how this is a guy that talks about how much he watches dinosaur stuff with his son and even points out the fact that a dimetrodon isn't a dinosaur bet an ancestor to mammals, I'm sure he knows that he just likes calling them that.
Don't pay any mind to the "You can't keep politics out of your videos" crowd. As soon as they started attacking basic kindness and empathy, we should have just realized they were was no more reason and let their rants fade into white noise. Beyond that, anyone who pretends that all media and art isn't inherently political is lying to you. Even if political statements are largely unintended they will always be there.
I have to discuss my favorite scene from the movie, because I don't think many people are talking about it: the scene with Maisie and Dr Wu. Most people I hear only bring it up to complain about 'the retcon' but I'm talking about the part just before that. You have Maisie Lockwood, who has been struggling with her identity after learning she was a clone, and Henry Wu, who's coming to terms that he had willingly let others manipulate him for his talents because of his own blind ambitions. It's a short and sweet talk where two hurting individuals help each other find a little bit of closure, and I'm a sucker for that stuff. I think it's a beautifully written bit of dialogue and acting, and practically no one is talking about it.
@@JennifuhhGilardi technically she's what's called an altered clone, but yeah. Clone means you share DNA sequences with your donor, aka there's no second set of genes in the conception.
The _Pyroraptor_ going under the water was definitely one of my favorite scenes. It's always a 'oh, crap' moment when then dinosaurs (and non-dinosaurs) are in or go into the water. I do wish that they could have done the scene from the _Jurassic Park_ book that showed that the T-Rex was capable of swimming.
Weird, because that's one scene I can't stand whatsoever (even if it does look cool as heck). Dinosaurs can't handle the cold, that's why those few who remained post-meteorite all died off or evolved past being dinosaurs during the ice age. The idea that one could easily swim around in water cold enough that the surface has frozen in a thick enough layer to let two humans stand on it in close proximity is ludicrous.
My absolute, 100% favourite moment from this movie that made me laugh so much in theatres was Ian Malcom’s first attempt at the code was “1984”. It’s such a brief moment but of course Ian Malcom’s immediate thought about what a numeric code might be would immediately be 1984. It’s a perfect expression of his character and I found it very funny. I really liked the film, even the theatrical cut. I’m glad we can celebrate the good things about it even if not everyone liked it.
I actually think I liked Dominion the most of the World movies. That said, it definitely has issues. My biggest problem with the premise is the idea that dinosaurs spread so far, so fast, and with so many individual dinosaurs after the events of Fallen Kingdom. It has only been a few years, and there were very few actual dinosaurs that escaped that mansion, clearly some came from other places, escaping from the various islands somehow (flying types aside). The breeding pool would have been small though, every dinosaur would have had to use parthenogenesis to help the spread not just Blue, and even that wouldn't have been enough I think. They seem to be all over the place, even if not densely populated.
Yeah like I’d be totally down for a Jurassic World apocalypse tv show but the fact that all this happens in roughly 3 years is not logical, I’d give this maybe 10 but that’s pretty generous
This is the kind of logic that you have to Harrison Ford away. It's not that kind of movie. And I'm fine with that. Being realistic, yeah... this is a serious problem. But it's not that kind of movie. So I wink, nod, and go back to watching the film. And I agree... this is my favorite of the World films as well. The entire tone is different from the other 2. Even from the previous 5. All 5 of the others are about losing control, but in the end regaining it in a fashion. Getting off the island, trapping the dinos on an island, sending the dino back to the island, etc. This one... we've lost. It's over. They are here, and they are here to stay. Now it is us that adapts or dies. And the theme and score throughout constantly convey this. Hitting minor chords, dropping down instead of rising. I enjoy seeing a fast forward to the end results of meddling. The ultimate "Ian was right" film. And yet even while it is this way, there is still hope. Together we can figure out this new world.
Okay, seeing Grant, Satler, Malcolm and Owen, Claire, Maisy altogether was a dream come true for me!! I mean, who didn't want to see Alan and Owen talking about raptors? And Claire and Ellie chat? I don't know, I can say I love this movie only for that! It's cool, sooo cool
As much as there are criticisms of this movie you cannot repeat cannot not love seeing Alan and Ellie and Ian all back at it This was a way to close out the Jurassic park/world story by bringing these 3 back and finishing off story arcs so nicely This movie has me worried for them at so many points in the movie too The one thing I will say is some of the Dino's felt like they were underused especially with how they appeared in trailers
I didn’t “live” seeing them because it felt like fan service apologising for the dumb decision to have them breakup in jp3. If they’d done this maybe 15 years earlier then I might’ve given a crap but not when it’s over 20 years later and the last movie in the series which means it changes nothing in the grand scheme of things
@@YodaOnABender Would you just shut the fuck up and let us enjoy this movie already? I've seen you in every comment thread where people are saying what they like about the movie like "uM. AcTUaLly", get a fucking life. It's less annoying and more just pitiful.
So nothing will ever top the first but this is probably my second favourite. The story and villain are fine, but I didn't go in expecting a masterpiece in storytelling. I went in expecting to see giant dinosaurs and explosions and that's what I got. Loved it.
This movie was a nostalgic, eyes wide open, can't wipe that stupid grin off My face experience And the fact that wu got to clear his conscience after all these years is Satisfying And and the fact that the OG JP crew is back is also the best thing ever And and and it was this movie was awesome, well above awesome, best thing ever!!!
I liked this film and the extended cut was an improvement. I liked how this third part actually brought our og heroic trio back together again (RIP Sir Richard, you are greatly missed) and that it even brought back the og villain aka Dodgson from the first film and tied it all together. This film did for me what Rise of Skywalker failed to do and it just proves to me that I wish the studios has stuck with Colin's original script for that. He knew what to do. Even if the results of this film aren't what many expected, I went in with no expectations and walked out satisfied and happy with this film being a sort of final to the saga started all the way back in 1993. If we do get another trilogy, I do hope we see some older returning characters like the kids for example. And I wanna see crazier or scarier scenarios. Still want to see a Dinosaur movie set in a underwater base.
I just wanna know what the fuck happened there. Last time we saw him he was still his "I know better than anyone, I am a SCIENTIST" self, and then in this he comes across somewhat *broken*.
@@gothicbutterfly013 I feel it was a mix of age- he’s not the young man desperate to change the world, prove to the world he is the greatest scientists the man who brought back dinosaurs! I also feel it was seeing Charlotte Lockwood videos and realising he was doing this for the wrong reasons, he intentions may have started out as world breaking and changing, perhaps he was attempting to do what Charlotte did for Maisy for the rest of the world- to help people. He was getting desperate and that vision got warped by Masrani wanting a theme park, Eli with his greed and finally Dodgeson with his need for world domination and control. Then he sees those videos again, he sees that people will die on a massive scale for the egomaniac he’s working for and that he’s just disappointed and angry in himself, maybe even disgusted. He finally stopped seeing the deaths and destruction cause by his creations as “collateral damage” or “part of the experiment” he realised oh shit I’ve gone and fucked up and I need to fix this I got that rewatching the movie a few times and the relief he had in the end when he had finally destroyed the locusts, his atonement of his sins, I imagine that he will be working very hard to continue his atonement for what he’s done. I originally wanted him to get his karma, for him to die and for him to eaten for his “villainous ways” so when Dominion had him remorseful, trying to atone for what he did, even begging those he wronged- the original trio and the JW crew- it was actually more interesting and more fulfilling that just a simple death and made him a completely interesting character.
13:13 I love how perceptive Maisie is in the movie. She asks the questions the normal people would ask about seeing Alan and Ellie rather close relationship
The Prologue and Battle at Big Rock are both Canonical Short Films to the Jurassic Universe. BABR was never "Cut" as it was never planned for Dominion. It takes place in 2019. But yes, Jurassic World Dominion is a really good movie with connections to the older movies, Camp Cretaceous (a few you missed such as the Barbasol can, we know how he found it) and the overall Universe. It's awesome and very Michael Crichton like!
Finally here early! I'm writing this before I watch the video but I want to let you know that thanks for reviewing this film. You always do a good job at making the films that many don't think are good actually seem that way, keep up with what your doing and please stay safe.
This movie might not have the best story but it is one of my favorite movies from the franchise because it was entertaining and is one of the most entertaining movies in the past few years in my opinion.
Im so happy you enjoyed this movie. So many people seem to genuinely hate this movie but its quickly become my second favorite JP movie just through the sheer amount of new stuff we see. While I agree that the theatrical does cut a lot of chaff, i personally love all the extra stuff the extended edition has. Also, Quetzalcoatlus is my favorite dino.
17:32 Yeah, not gonna lie, one of the the most satisfying moments for Rexy. Up there with scoring first blood on the Indominus (and getting back to her feet and kicking Indy’s ass later), killing off the raptors at the end of JP1, and of course the awesome moment when she killed Mills. Rexy is the queen of the franchise, I don’t care what anyone else says. She to me is one of the biggest badasses in the franchise, a true hero.
As a 33 guy who cries when he hears the JP theme and just with everydino-thing, I totally agree with you. Actually loved the first 2 JWorld movies. This one not that much because all of the possibilities, but it's still a really fun movie. And I'm really happy to see the OG 3. Man, now I want to write a story about over-the-top underground dino-black-market!
I loved this movie so much. The Jurassic World trilogy as a whole is super over-hated by folks who can't get over the original movie from 93. That original is an experience that literally cannot be replicated due to the wonder of the new dinosaurs and the wonder of the new CGI, and the JW movies know this and do their own thing, and are pretty great for it. And this one in particular expands the world in ways that are amazing but also perfectly in line with Michael Crichton's themes; the locust plot is straight out of something he would have written for sure. After JP3, there was nowhere left for the franchise to go. After JW: Dominion, it could go literally ANYWHERE. And I love it.
Freaking finally, someone's giving praise to this film instead of dumping on it. My dad and I both agreed that the purpose of the locusts was to be a shared threat to man and dinosaur alike now that they were co-existing, and he especially was annoyed that most critics seemed not to be getting that. I had fun with this one especially in the motorcycle chase, *greatly* appreciated the survival of all the main returning characters, and was pretty proud of myself for predicting the cause of death for Dodgson. 😌👏
Wait how are they a threat to Dinosaurs? You think the dinosaurs are gonna eat Corn and other crops when they much clearly prefers more robust plant matter?
The problem with the locusts was that the movie was building up to be all about humans and dinosaurs finding a way to coexist. But nope, that got like what, five minutes of screen time before we were stuck with a ridiculous bug problem.
The locusts didn’t pose a threat to the dinosaurs at all. Even if they did, there was one scene in the movie that shows the effect dinosaurs actually have on the real world
@@itsappl3s663 nah, that's just your opinion, also if this was indeed the case how was Speilberg able to make so many blockbusters that stand up to even the most severe film criticism, JWD was just cashgrab lazyfilmmaking at it's finest no need to make excuses for it
While not my favorite of the franchise, this movie (at least the extended version) has some solid points in its favor. At the end of the day I just want a fun adventure with dinos, and that’s what I got.
30 minutes into this film I realized this was Colin Trevorrow's way of making the science fiction film Lucas Film wouldn't allow him to make, and seeing it this way actually made the film 10 times better.
They really just need to do a TV series centered around this world and give us what we crave. Even the dinosaur black market plot centered around Kayla Watts and her exploits could be it's own spin-off.
Oh my I got so excited when you said Rexy had a "Godzilla thing going" (16:52) because I thought the EXACT SAME THING! I would be totally fine if that's the direction this series goes after this and we start getting movies like 'Rexy vs Spino' and 'Rexy vs Giga' and they can have characters like Therazinosaurus come back and help her out when she needs it? I'd actually love that.
See, in my eyes it had a great story and fun and intense action scenes, so yes, I liked it for the reasons you disliked it. And since art is the eye of the beholder, neither of us are wrong.
When he talks about his wife and his children, my soul just transcends. The most positive person on youtube being genuinely a loving family man gushing (maybe not verbally but you can feel it in his voice) about his family? That is uplifting. Truly! I wouldnt want him to do it any more than he does, no need to make his life so public, but I always smile when he does so I wont complain.
The amount of Dark Crystal jokes in here genuinely warms my heart lol When I was in elementary school, the first thing I said, I wanted to be was a paleontologist. Dinosaurs will always be cool to me and I will always love seeing them on the screen. 💚🦖🦕
18:26 I would recommend everyone here check out the show _Primeval._ Its CGI is done by the same people who did _Walking With Dinosaurs,_ and it does far more with "dinos in modern world" than any of the Jurassic World films.
I loved that they finally brought back Dodgeson and Biosyn front and center since they were a bigger part of the books, I just wish they had done more in this film to emphasize that this was THE Dodgeson from film 1 for those who may not have read them (especially since it was a different actor).
Couldn’t agree more , while I admit there’s flaws , but in all honesty this is my favorite film in the franchise and I’m not ashamed of that because it does something new and leaves an open door for the franchise to go anywhere now.

Collin Trevorrow has confirmed the other T-rexes at 18:00 are actually the Buck & Doe from The Lost World! Dodgson mentioned that Biosyn had pulled most of the dinosaurs from Sorna over to the sanctuary so this is where the Rex parents ended up too
I love it when you guys cover dinosaur movies, old and new. Say, you DID mention how few dino movies are out there, any plans to cover them all? Like Disney's Dinosaur?
Even with the lack of expectations I had for this movie beyond nostalgic fanservice, I will admit that my younger dino-fanatic self felt a little joyous surprise when Dimetrodons got their time in the spotlight. The OG sail-backs before Spinosaurus, and often overlooked. Also, I found it funny that immediately after Owen talked about how he made a promise to the raptor's mom, Alan kept carrying the wrench like "Well, I didn't, so if that thing lunges for my innards I'm going to break dinosaur bones for the first time in several decades."
Quick correction for what you said at 10:48, the dinosaur charlotte is interacting with is actually a microceratus, not a Lystrosaurus (who killed the oviraptor).
JP3 is my brother’s favourite mainly for the Spino. When he was little, he’d always skip the first twenty minutes so he could get to the island faster 😅

4:09 - How do they look so young? Virtually all studio movies are scrubbed beginning to end with cosmetic CGI filters. And name actors usually ensure they get final cut approval on their appearance. Not saying these two aren't genetic outliers with great surgeons, but cosmetic CGI is an industry within the industry now.
I watched dominion about 2 weeks ago after marathoning the whole franchise for the first time (didn't grow up with them so I'd never seen any of the JP movies in full up until that point). I went into JW3 already knowing about all of the negativity it'd gotten and my reaction while watching couldn't have been more different. it genuinely was such a fun and great watch for me! I do wish the *"dinosaurs are everywhere around us now"* aspect was a bigger part of the story but it's very true that to go down that route they would've had to get pretty apocalyptic (and dark)
I loved this movie so much, easily the best part for me was when Malcom threw the FLAMING LOCUST into that dinos mouth! I'd say it's making up for how he messed up the last time he tried to use a flair and it didn't end well for him xD
Maybe it's the unpopular opinion but I preferred this to the last two Jurassic World movies solely due to the sheer number of dinosaur sequences and lack of random hybrid - I don't come to these movies for strong stories, I just come for the dinosaurs (and Jeff Goldblum), and this delivered despite not being a good movie plot-wise.
So much for not giving a win from Mr. DNA's lesson from Jurassic Park to what we actually saw as the mother of all dinosaurs, because the dino DNA was from the T-Rex right from the beginning before the events of the main franchise and not the Brachiosaurus from the original 1993 classic.
In relation to the Barbasol can - Camp Cretaceous is actually cannon - i just watched with my lil cousin and Dodgson goes to the aisle and while cornered by the diloposaurus’ (spelling is way wrong I know) and he’s on the ground and coming thru the sand is the can and he goes “coulda used this 20 years ago” so that’s how he got it back!!!

Beautifully said!
you mean the moment where she found out she’s not a clone at all
@@JennifuhhGilardi technically she's what's called an altered clone, but yeah.
14:40 - A-yup. The movie was "fine." But that specific moment? _THAT_ theme playing? How can you not get the chills?

This film did for me what Rise of Skywalker failed to do and it just proves to me that I wish the studios has stuck with Colin's original script for that. He knew what to do. I saw this a few days ago, honestly my favourite part was the fact that Henry Wu got redeemed after 38 years or so
It was a beautiful moment! I saw this a lot on other videos but he had his “what have I done?” Moment it’s refreshing to see a villain get redeemed
He finally stopped seeing the deaths and destruction cause by his creations as “collateral damage” or “part of the experiment” he realised oh shit I’ve gone and fucked up and I need to fix this
I got that rewatching the movie a few times and the relief he had in the end when he had finally destroyed the locusts, his atonement of his sins, I imagine that he will be working very hard to continue his atonement for what he’s done.
It takes place in 2019. 17:32 Yeah, not gonna lie, one of the the most satisfying moments for Rexy.
She's why I watch the movies in the first place. Being so amazing makes her even more beautiful to me.
Ngl this movie killed all the love I had for the other JW films it feels like a stupid cash grab that tries to use nostalgia too much
@arvalfe that's really false
I think people just need to learn to turn their brain off a little when watching some movies. They're for our enjoyment not our scrutiny.

4:09 - How do they look so young? Virtually all studio movies are scrubbed beginning to end with cosmetic CGI filters. And name actors usually ensure they get final cut approval on their appearance.
