    Agree with everything you said....
    Whils waiting for a small HBX to arrive i used the cheap chinese wolf release i own. Swapped out the spring to a slightly stiffer one and have been shooting "Almost as well as when i first tested the HBX (in large)"
    But combined with my new set up of 6x scope power im even outshooting the othe top end releases i have carter/truball.
    Quality not as good but agree its all about the archer.
    However i feel getting the perfect stabilisation set up us super critical. When i move stabilisation away from my current set up my groups open... My scores drop as does my enjoyment.
    Practice is critical but equally so is a well balanced bow.
    So hunting bows designed to balance in the hand with minimal added stabilisers are great for just practicing.
    Target bows i believe are a bit more in need of a balanced set up to perform as well as the archer is shooting.
    Their are times i believe in the past that i was shooting better than where the arrows were hitting on the target.
    The pin would be on gold...shot would break in the gold but down range arrows not hitting behimd the pin.
    Less so on a hunting bow
    More frequent on target bow until proper set up achieved

    I have a performX as well, and am pushing 60, I use a 6X lens and no clarifier. I have .5 I tried, and it was fine, but didn't like when it got dirty or wet, so I removed it. I can move scope towards the target and increase size of target that w/o increasing lens magnification. I have shot with an 8X lens and had to pull sight back to my side as much as possible to clear up target (without clarifier). It is all personal preference. But with clarifiers at almost $40 a pop and lens at $100 each, , its just too expensive to experiment properly. I think a 4X lens is a great starting point for indoor, with no peep glass at all.

    Wobble does not go away, you just notice it more with higher power scopes. I'm a long ranger rifle shooter and an archer . I can see my heart beat once I get over 18 power but you learn to shoot between the beats. the more you shoot the higher power the more you will learn to control the wobble as you call it, I control the wobble at 6x with more weight and balancing out my bow.

    The one thing I would've added Steven, is the potential for glare, especially the peep. I'm a curious dummy, 4 than 6 than even tried an 8. The 8 changes you sight picture. With a 41 scope about 39mm is all gold, used the thin red ring to aim. I'll stick with a 6 and pink verifier, (No. 5) I think.

    Im just experimenting with this now.....
    Started with 4x based on what many top compounders use.
    Recently tried 6x for 18m and also just tried it at 70m on a cold frosty morning.
    I actually think i prefer it... Magnifies my wobble and i find it slows my shot process down and improved my groups.
    Also helps me to find my sweetspot on my stabilisation set up.
    However as said the image is blurry and a blurry image is all I've known.
    But have ordered some clarifiers from China (cheap just to test) so that i can actually see the target clearer.
    Im confident ill aim better if i can see more clearly.
    I believe its impossible to hold perfectly still and that the subconscious always tries to pull pin back to center and just focus on my shot execution. However i seem to of found the sweetspot on my stabilisation and it holds very well as if i can have best of both worlds.
    But time and testing will tell me if im right.

    I use an 8x and have done for quite a few years now, my theory is, I only want to hit the gold, so I only need to see the gold, not the rest of the target, it seems to work for me. ....... you can also alter the amount of magnification you get by sliding your sight bar in or out, if I slide my sight all the way out, I get a lot more magnification but it blurs out even with the strongest power clarifier, so I have to run the sight bar about half way out, It gives me a little less magnification and I can see some of the red rings, but it's clear, and if I bring the sight bar in even further, it gets even clearer, but then I get less magnification and I start seeing the blue rings as well.

    I'm getting a Decut Tawant aperture, which come in different sizes: 8, 6, and 4. Am I correct in understanding that this is not magnification but pin diameter: 8/1.0mm; 6/0.75mm; and 4/0.5mm?

    So your not talking about a rifle scope or pistol scope on a compound bow? I have been really thinking about mounting a pistol scope on my compound bow in all my research I only found one scope that would give me the proper eye relief for this application, Simmons Pro Hunter 4 x 32 Truplex retical which well give me 17 to 19 inches of eye relief. i can mount this on a extended picatinny rail to move it back as needed. I just mounted a Vortex Razor UH-1 holographic sight to my hunting compound bow, this things is amazing, instantly show bow torquing, instantly picks up the target whether I'm shooting 20 yards or 40 yards, not effected by bright sunlight, after sighting it in with a bore scope no other adjustments were needed, it holds zero constantly and my grouping has gone from 3 inches down to 1 1/2 inches. i find the peep sight is no longer needed with this setup....

    • @renatugaming5730
      @renatugaming5730 3 роки тому

      if this works for you than good for you, he was not talking about making some type of rifle scope work for archery. Since more magnification can decrease your field of view, a rifle scope with high magnification might not be effective unless if you're shooting really long distance. But if it works for you than hats off to you.

  • @toadamine

    Which archery sights have adjustable magnification? I never even knew this sorta thing was on the market.. I have telescopic sights on most of my guns, never even seen one yet for bow... maybe do a video on telescopic bow sights that are currently available! I've always kinda thought about just mounting up a rifle sight to a bow... Haha 😁👍

    • @wyckedan
      @wyckedan 5 років тому +1

      It's not telescopic. It's a lense, generally fits inside a cutout on the backside of the scope and then a threaded sleeve goes in to hold it in place.

      Not necessarily, you can have the best rated equipment in the world and be terrible, particularly if you are new to the sport. Spending more might even lower your scores! If you still want to spend some cash, I would suggest doing it over time or if you have a coach, to talk with it out with your coach. Your shop or coach would most likely have the best suggestions for you, assuming they're not money hungry..,

    Too much magnification can easily create target panic. Physical conditioning to Archery is very very important aspect AND YOUR MENTAL ATTITUDE. One must learn and know the magnified movement seen in higher power lenses needs to become irrelevant. Don't worry about the exaggerated movement you are seeing. You must become accustomed mentally to this. You must remind yourself this system is for your eyes only- not your mind. Archery is so very much a mental exercise. One must be 100% mentally "at ease" with yourself and your equipment to perform to your best ability. Don't let higher magnification create anxiety. Higher magnification doesn't have to create anxiety. It depends on your mental perspective. IMO

    • @renatugaming5730
      @renatugaming5730 3 роки тому

      If you were focusing on the target, does the dot movement or the wobble really matter if you are relaxed and focusing through the lens and focusing on the target that way the pin is blurred out?

    • @timbow50
      @timbow50 3 роки тому +2

      Nicholas 21 very minor movement will always be there. No one not even pro shooters hold dead still. The movement, when you're in shape and no wind involved will be eventually super small like not wider/ larger than your pin/dot diameter. Ideally both your pin and the target should be in focus, the pin only very slightly out of focus. If it's too "fuzzy?", you can't really tell if your pin is floating very tightly in small circles on the exact spot your really concentrating on. With quality practice, slow uninterrupted, you will notice at the second or two as you PULL THROUGH THE SHOT, no punching allowed, the pin movement will/should become very very small as to be almost imperceptible. Timing the firing at this exact moment is crucial without commanding the firing. With controlled practice you will soon learn how to bring this all together. Yes, you need to able to KNOW in your mind that movement is ok- learning to use that movement with timing the firing of release.. Seems most good shooters have a 6 to 9 second window where the pin settles and the shot fires.

      @@timbow50 Years ago I shot a lot of 3d I usually placed or won but something was lacking. I read a book by an archery coach and two things really stood out. One was Watch your arrow into the target and the other was, After the shot hit or miss forget about it and focus on the next one. The next day I beat some very good archers and won the tournament in my class. This was 30 years ago. I can see by your comment that you know what it's all about.
