    I will say that high power lenses, because the target looks closer to your eye, you get a finer aiming point and therefore might see a bit more wobble if you're just getting into it and aren't sure about your form. Personally, I started with a 4 power lens and I am perfectly alright so far with shooting, it gives me a bit of comfort that the target looks bigger and I can relax a bit, and if I use a big dot I don't see any wobble. That changes however if you go to a 6, or an 8 power. 1st, you might need a clarifier, and if you're in rainy and foggy conditions good luck trying to not have that thing fog up. Clarifiers come in many powers, but if you choose to use one, you need to change a peep sight to a threaded peep sight with adjustable apertures like ones that Specialty and Hamskea offer, which will cost some more cash. Some people can go without a clarifier for a 6 power, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Hope this helps some of you!

    I read a question about size clarifier. You’ll need a red #3. With that you’ll have to adjust the peep size depending on the distance to eye-to-lens. I’ve been using an 8X for 5 years coming from a 6X. It takes quite awhile to get use the the movement. Don’t quit after a few days. It took me about 3-4 months to really feel good about it. I’ve broken 3 USAA Nationals records with the 8X. If you can handle the mental movement after a couple of months, go further with the 8X. It’ll pay off.

      Not everyone needs a three it is based off of their eyes. Tate can clear up an 8 with a 1 or a 1.5. That’s like saying everyone would need the same prescription glasses. It’s something everyone has to test. And peep size drastically changes the target clarity as well. The smaller peep you go the clearer it gets. Tate can get this clear with a 3/32 where I have to shoot a 3/64 to get the same clarity. So again it’s all based on eyesight :)

    Hello Mrs Pearce.
    Again thank you for your info.
    As you said, indeed a high power lens is not suited for all :)
    I have however two other questions.
    You talked about target and 3D on regards of lens power but also sight picture and scope size. What about Field where you need the clear view for measuring the target-distance - and thus rather a 6 power or matbe 8-power lens... while still being able to fit the whole target in the scope?
    Also a large size scope might help ... but how do you manage to still being able to lign out the peep with the scope (of you barely can see the sides or outer ring of the scope as it is big)
    Thanks in advance for your advice AND time!

    Another thing to consider is draw length, a 6x lens with my 32" draw length probably looks about the same as an 8x lens at your draw length.
    As a general trend, smaller people tend to shoot higher power lenses, just because of that.

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  3 роки тому +6

      That is true... but you also have to consider sight length not just draw length. If you measure your peep to pin measurement for Archers Mark or Archers Advantage, mine is right about 33. I use the Axcel long bar and run it almost all the way out. So saying it’s based off draw length isn’t entirely true because mine is actually way longer than most men’s because of how I run my sight. Therefor, my 8 is like an 8 not like a mans 6.

    • @livingadreamlife1428

      Pin Glare is a result of the Sunlight on your scope, so use a sun shade on your scope, front and back. Pin Starburst is from the pin fiber getting too much Sun and being too bright. Adjust the rheostat cover on pin fiber housing or install a light kit that allows you to adjust the brightness of your pins.

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  9 місяців тому +1

      I would recommend looking into a shrewd scope. Maybe the 29mm. And lens magnification is a personal preference but most people start with a 4 or a 6x. I shoot an 8 but I wouldn’t recommend that for most people.
      And you can just use a black dot, or you can use a fiber bit you can’t use a light so probably a green fiber. And that is also personal preference on how much of the target you want the aiming reticle to cover. And the more lens magnification the less size the pin will cover obviously so that’s all completely personal preference :)

    If you focus properly, meaning focusing on the target instead of the dot or the pin, does it matter which magnification you choose if you can't see the wobble due to focusing on the target and not the pin?

    • @PaigePearceinsight
      @PaigePearceinsight  3 роки тому +4

      So usually even if your eyes focus on the target you will still see your pin movement. So it just depends on the person. If you see a lot of wiggle and quit executing then lower power would be better. But if you can keep pulling seeing that movement you might be okay with a high power. But no matter where your eyes are focused you will still see your pin/dot and the movement

    • @livingadreamlife1428
      @livingadreamlife1428 2 роки тому +2

      Not Paige, but the release your select won’t affect magnification. Your “let-off” will affect pin movement. For most, the lower the let-off percentage, the steadier the aim.

    Page, what clarifier do you use IN your peepsight. I shoot with a TenZone 29 mm scope 1, that's equal to a 100.I think I think that's the heaviest lens, here in Europe.
    My peepsight is one with an original build in clarifier. I don't know the power of it. It has 2 dots painted on.
    But what you said in this video that on a Vegas target you see a massive 9 like a ball, well I don't. What do I wrong ?

      I shoot a 3/64 specialty number 2 or 3. I have a few of each of those like 3 number 2’s and 3 number 3’s because honestly they are all a little different. Then I will throw in all the options and see which one is best. Sometimes depending on your eyes or the lens or clarifiers you are trying, you may have to sacrifice and have a slightly blurry target or a slightly blurry pin, but every once and a while you get one where both are clear and that’s the golden setup! 💪🏼 If I am shooting a Hamskea Peep then I use the C or D clarifier. I switch based on lighting conditions what lens I am using and what happens to look best that season.

      @@PaigePearceinsight a 3/64 how much is that in mm ? And I don't understand what you trying to explain with number 2 and 3. I guess that you in the States got much more lenses and clarifiers . Here in Belgium we have a 50 - 75 - 100 diopter for in the scopes, and for in the peeps just the same. And if we shoot with a 100 diopter, must we also shoot with a clarifier in our peep, or not ?
      We don't have a coach here like the most top archers. We have to figure it out by ourselves, and buy it. If it's no good, bad for us. But we still loose our money. We wanna buy a bow, and we never can shoot a few arrows, before we buy. That's so sad here.
