What a small world - I’m casting on a junction sweater as I watch this! Can’t wait to see your makes!

Just found your podcast and really enjoying it. Thrummed mittens are definitely an east coast thing. They originated in Newfoundland. You can always find them at farmers markets here in Nova Scotia and kits for them. Extra snuggly and warm for our windy winters.

I love my so faded t- shirt! It’s one of my favorite knits to wear! I followed the same sleeve pattern that Natalie from Knitty Natty and was super quick to finish off!

I haven’t knitted in quite a while but seeing all your lovely projects inspired me to order a 9” circular needle and, when it arrives, will try a nice pair of socks. I have only ever made slipper socks or thick socks, so I’m hoping this pair will look like the beautiful ones you make on smaller needles. Wish me luck! 😊

Great to see what your plans are (even loosely) for 2022. I don’t usually make a hard and fast list of “I will make …” but I did decide that I will knit from stash and from patterns I already own. I have many that I fell in love with and wanted to make only to be swayed by new and shiny and put that on repeat. So I’ve identidad a few things from patterns I already own and yarn from my stash to complete the project. The one thing I would love to do is be able to knit pair of socks each month but I’m not making that hard and fast. I love seeing socks people make and it’s inspiring but then I fizzle out.

I feel like we have a similar attitude towards our plans!

It was great to see your planned makes for the year. I am terrible at setting knitting goals for a year. I have a shawl test knit on the go at the moment and my six year old daughter asked me to knit her a shawl, so I’m working on that as well. I have some WIPs left over from last year that I would really love to finish up before I start casting on anything new.

I agree, it's really nice to get some old wips sorted before starting new things

It was great to hear your plans. I’ve knit two so faded sweaters and love them. I’m just about to cast on a third but it will be striped. I went to a yarn dyeing retreat last year and as well as a skein of our own we got a mini from each person so I’m using them with two full skeins to make a retreat sweater. I’m using stash as much as possible but that’s been the case since before the pandemic . I do buy some yarn if I really can’t find something but mostly it’s stash as I had several years worth of yarn festival buying etc. other plans are try to keep more of the socks I knit as I tend to gift them thinking I’ve loads but mine are rather old and there have been a few retired this year. Oh and start knitting baby gift knits now rather than waiting until they are born. A lot of friends are waiting on new arrivals this spring and summer

I do the same with the baby gifts! It's always nice to have a few things finished ahead of time. Plus they're a great stash buster too. Really like your retreat sweater idea!

My plans are for mittens, socks, and WIPs this year. I found about 17 WIPs in my living room while cleaning up for the holidays, so I am working my way through them. I love my handknit socks, but only have 3 pair completed. Of those 17 WIPs, 7 are socks, so that will help. (There is also an afghan, a cowl, 3 hats, 4 shawls, and 1 pair of slippers) I also joined a sock club this year. I want several pair of mittens. I'm almost done with a pair of felted mittens, made from stash. A friend was getting rid of her Kelbourne Woolens Germantown and since I am making felted mittens, she gave it to me. There is a lot of colors to choose from and my first pair is striped with Oxford Blue and Rhododendren. I forgot how much fun making felted items is. They are so HUGE and funny looking. My grandsons laughed about the sheer size of them and had to try them on. We laughed for a long time about it!

That's so true! It's been years since I knit something for felting and they always look so misshapen before they're finished!

I love Caitlin Hunter patterns! My knitting goals are 3 garment (hoping for 6, to use up those sweater quantities) and 22 to 24 pairs of socks, which is my past couple years socks knitting average.

I’m so inspired by Andrea Mowry’s spinning videos. I would like to make a sweater out of hand spun as well, thinking of the DRK everyday sweater. Are you participating in the SPINIT to Knitit along?

I heard the holst has a lot of spinning oil in it so might watch to watch for color bleeding in your swatch in case you need to rinse the dark one! That sweater looks gorgeous 😍
