Forget the decals, add some flexible LED glow strips and a starlight capable camera, and head out at night. Lights on for carpark shenannigans, lights off for low noticiability from the "You can't do that here' crowd.
Tks From Alabama USA, I missed the Last Black Zohd offered. I have the White Drift. Will have my Black Drift in april 4-14th. Will use mine line of Sight, put a Few marker lites, a NX3 Stablizer. Relaxed flights. Fly with The Buzzards,. They Cruise my flying club in Alabama
Keeping an eye out for more of this. Been looking to add a (small) wing/plane to my fleet, definitely want something that runs an FC! (Preferably a fully equipped build kit) Keep us posted!
Awesome. A nice update to the original Drift. Thanks Lee for confirming the foam is a bit more dense and stiffer. Agree, a ~1.5x larger variation would be nice. Would prefer pusher, or twin; not tractor motor like the Eachine Razor had. While referencing the Eachine Razor as comparison, a fuselage that is ~1.5x larger (not necessary deeper would be a bonus)
Hi, and could you please recommend such a model from any other vendor? I am total beginner an I am looking for an aerodynamic pusher with longer wingspan. Anything what could stay in the air for long time. Thank you for your help.
@@LucSVK HobbyKing Bixler (similer models go by name SkySurfer), and the Volantex Ranger (1600mm) are also good beginner choices. These have wingspans of 1200-1600mm. Longer tends to make harder to land, or dealing with wind. With Volantex Ranger, can later get 2000mm wings as experience gained, and have to variations to fly. Note inventory can be limited these days, so may need to search, or be patient. HeeWing Ranger T1 might be alternative as easy to find (but it's a twin tractor).
Oh, I love my original drift so much. I fly it only at nights, medium range (up to 5km), when the weather is very calm, with a starlight Runcam Nigh Eagle cam. The model is so silent and stealthy, that you feel like sitting in a F-117, seeing night city lights through NV in the perifery, like you are flying over cities of Desert Storm in 1991. The black color would complement the stealth aspect.
Hi Lee, ZOHD is back, I like it, a dark drift, looks great, I have a white Ranger T1, and the white shows the dirt, Thanks again for the information and video.
Thanks for the update, I to am a fan and own them all. I would like to see them come out with a hybrid wing for vertical take off and landing. For now I have them all plus one each backups, just in case they weren't coming back. A lot of Companies did bite it so buying back up wings and such is a good idea if you really like the model.
After fumbling around with a Zohd talon 250g and ultimately crashing and constant tail breaks/prop strikes, this one is perfect. It is actually possible to shoehorn in a SpeedyBee F405 in there as well. Not big on plane FPV myself, but a nice slow, stable flyer like this I've found to be perfect for learning Ardupilot stuff. Mine flew 'out of the box' which was a stark contrast to the talon.
I’ve been waiting for a Kopilot “Heavy” with some telemetry on a simple OSD. Also, I wonder if they didn’t thicken up those heavier wings a little. My original ones broke under normal usage wing loading (thankfully, easy to repair). My reinforced wings are probably heavier than the new black ones.
Yep, the Lefei Sparrow 3 is considerably more competent in allowed settings in addition to the OSD capability. Plus less expensive than the Kopilot at current prices. I'd be surprised if ZOHD can beat it with a Kopilot Heavy! For a lighter non-GPS stabilizer the Radiolink Byme-A would be the current best bang for buck.
I use my one without a kopilot, the CG is a little tricky but once it is right then it flys as good as any plane. I want to get an air unit in my one but this plane is just to small to accommodate anything like that. So an Xl model has to be the next thing in line.
I absolutely love the vc400 camera. Used it when I got my drift at first and has a very clear image and great range and OSD. I don’t use it anymore these days due to digital. And unfortunately can’t make my drift digital due to the lacking f411wse
You don't need a flight controller to go HD. See my video on installing walksnail into mine.. Most HD systems have a basic OSD (voltage, distance etc) as part of the standard layout so you may not need an FC for what you need. Happy flying
If you live in a country where sub 250g is important. I think this will be a failure. I have the white one with a kopilot and an all-in-one camera. With a modest 2S battery, I can just keep it under 250g. There is no chance with 20 percent heavier foam.
hello. I am running INAV on a pusher trainer with push line above the wing. I understand that the inav mixer for conventional aircraft compensates for the tendency to wheeze the nose when accelerating using the elevator. but can the mixer offset a pusher's nose-dip tendency while accelerating by using the elevator on the tail? thank you so much.
I've flown INAV in all kinds of fixed wing and found that it does a great job so I wouldn't worry too much about that. You should find that trainers like the Bixlers and Skywalkers, where the motor is mounted dorsally, it is angled towards the CG/Center of lift to stop it nosing over on power. Best of luck!
Unfortunately after contacting ZOHD just recently, Aug 2024, the Kopilot lite has been discontinued. Been looking everywhere for one, as I was going to get the Dark Breeze, but not without the Kopilot, I've been trying to get away from Pc setups, Inav, Betaflight, Mission planner, Suppose there's the Sparrow fc, although the Speedybee wing mini seems good....back to the computer...DOH! Cheers.
Hello I am an engineering student and working on a multi-task fixed wing air craft . I have found your channel very helpful about this topic , I would like to ask you about a good flight controller you would recommend since I have no experience with it . Thank you
NOOOO! NOT White stickers Painless.... We want Glow-In-The-DARK stickers! :v Why? When it goes down & gets lost, you go back when its darker, paint area with a torch & find it again! ;) (A trick thats saved me a few times now) As for a larger version, I wish they'd start making the Eachine Razor under the ZOHD name... ;) Glad to see ZOHD are producing fresh foam once again & hoping like hell they FINALLY bring back the original Dart, although I wont be holding my breath.... My hats off to them for coming back & looking forward to seeing whats next! :)
I have to agree on the original Dart. I love that thing. Mine is on its third set of electronics (preview for you - ua-cam.com/video/cM2oc8_0o0o/v-deo.html)
@@Painless360 I sent an Email a while back to let you know there was still 1 remaining Dart v2 Kit left at RotorGeeks in Canada. Did you miss out or was the shipping to steep into UK? I managed to score the last 5PNP & 1Kit & have them stashed away- still flying my 2nd one after the first flew away on a low battery to be found by a farmer's tractor/slasher... :'(
What kind of battery connection is inside? On internet, i find XT30 and XT60 as connector? What's the right one? I'm waiting for my drift to be delivered and wanted to pick all the parts before.
Hopefully they can bring out a performance version of the dart 250g and just call it the dart 570mm. Cause the airframe is a blast on 6s power system ( videos on my channel)
I really hope ZOHD are reading these comments and taking the ideas and feedback to heart. I agree with you 100%. A larger Dart 250 more in line with the retired original Dart would be something a lot of us would welcome. I love my Original Dart - it can do pretty much anything, held together with magnets and wasn't expensive too. Happy flying!
Zohd, now reiventing the circle wheel 🤣 i think they should step back up and bring some new kick ass models out, they clearly have a good enough design team so whats up i wonder....
Using a different color type of foam............that's their innovation? Surely the are using the same molds. When they come out with a ZOHD Kopilot with OSD (at least so you can see GPS and battery voltage) then I'll believe they are back to innovating. It's 2023, the COVID excuse has long since passed.........seems like other players were able to innovate while ZOHD was dragging their feet. For the most part they make good planes, with good components, but they need some twin motor setups and a relook at the AR Wing Pro.
I've offered to help with the updates needed for the PRO, let's see how open they are to listening, collaborating and innovating again... Happy flying!
